Avo spice in Hackney

Ordered via ubereats. Got food home, Lamb Rogan... NO Lamb. Chicken Madras.. THREE pieces of chicken and 2 lumps of potato. The dips were nothing more than a thimble full. 4 popadums two of which were that stale you could bend them into 4 WITHOUT breaking them. Rang ubereats and was given a paltry £3.42 refund. Rang the restaurant and was called a liar being told there was 8 pieces of chicken (see for yourself) Manager never called back despite being told he would. The only decent thing was the rice and the raita. Don't waste your money 8 quid for a curry sauce and 7 quid for half portion of Madras.

The food is always fresh, authentic, and tasty. The delivery guy is also very personable. I highly recommend this restaurant!

We ordered several vegetarian dishes on Saturday night. It was really good, portions were large and the food was tasty.

Just back from a great weekend stay at Avo. Lovely people who couldn’t do enough for us!! Comfortable bijoux room; good shower, windows that opened as well as air con. Transport connections great and loads to see around Hackney and Dalston. Delicious authentic curry at a fabulous price. We will be back!! Helen and Ray Barrett

Very little meat, poppadoms not crispy, naan bread too soggy

Chicken was not properly cooked, pakora was breadcrumbed not battered. Terrible.

Best tasting vegetarian dishes we have ordered in a long time. Full of flavour, so much so, we are ordering in again tonight!

First-time experience with Avo. Second-time experience with JustEat. I saw Avo restaurant on Dalston Lane, looked good. Ordered Chicken Dhansak. Got the Dhansak, didn't get any chicken. Saag Aloo, low on the aloo. I tried to get an update/explanation on the app. The app did not help. Took too long. So hungry that I ate it anyway. I'll think twice about using the app and won't be using the restaurant again. Wasted money.

OUTSTANDING AS ALWAYS! I’ve ordered from Avo regularly over the past year of lockdown and not once have they let me down. The food is consistently tasty and fresh, delivered on time or early and always with a friendly delivery driver too. Their offer of free side dish is very generous. They have even thrown in additional goodies at times. What is not to love!!! Thank you Avo for being a reliable and delicious takeaway. Keep it up x

Onion bajis was strange and not tasty. My veg curry was literally a child’s portion. The person was disappointed and it was embarrassing as we recommended to order from there. It’s a shame cause I only use Avo Spice for my food but this has made me venture elsewhere. It’s such a shame because I’ve been ordering from them for a long time

Delicious lamb and generous portions! Really good taste and value

The food was good. Only negative is portion box was halfway or jus over halfway full. Potatoes undercooked couldnt eat them. Papadom was crushed although it was complimentary with a drink. Got a couple of sides complimentary that was great! Happy first time customer!

First time we have ordered from Avo Spice, and the food was very good. Fresh, not swimming in oil. My only comment was I thought the Chicken Tikka Masala sauce was like a Tomato purée, not rich and creamy, definitely could be improved. All other dishes and side dishes where excellent. Will order again.

Food is always tasty, not oily, love the combination of spices. The delivery is reasonable, what I would expect for a cooked meal- if it was too fast I would doubt the quality of the food.

Incredible food. One of the best Indians I’ve had in a while. Arrived piping hot. If you love spicy food this is the place. We had the chicken Jalfrezi, Naga chicken, daal, garlic & Peshawari naan, pilau rice. Everything was perfect. Would order from this place every night if I could.

Really delicious food and got a free papadum! My only wish was to have the papadums as something to buy, as one is never enough! Will order here again.

So disappointing - have ordered here before and food was good quality and tasty ........... this time it was AWFUL .............. the sauces had been quite obviously watered down and were thin and tasteless, chicken was sliced very thinly to give the appearance of a bigger size portion. Not prepared to take a chance with food lottery and now on the hunt for a consistent take away

A really good meal - nice and spicy - would recommend the lamb saag! We will definitely order again.

Definitely my favourite for curries, they didn't have the dessert I wanted so included an alternative and something extra that was similar. Great portion sizes too, (virtual) hugs and high fives to the team at Avo Spice thank you xoxo

Great food - good quality and very tasty. Always get a surprise free dish which is wonderful and enables us to try new food.

The food was greasy and burnt. Not cheap. £5 for a starter of 2 burnt prawns. Half of the order went straight to the bin. The driver was rude. Won't be ordering again.

Bit too much chilli not enough different flavour - but nice. Lamb a bit tough.

Ordered food for take away, food looks nothing like the pictures. Vegetable curry mainly onions and looked horrible, didn’t taste much better. Portions are incredibly tiny. Called to discuss and staff seemed rude about it. Will never order from them again and wouldn’t recommend anyone to do so

First time ordering, 10/10 food quality and flavour. Only thing wrong was no chutney with poppadoms even though i called the restaurant. Apart from that im very impressed and will definitely be order again in the future.

Every orders have always been promptly delivered by nice drivers. Food is consistently good. Some dishes are amazing. Ordering for the last 4 years and I have always been happy. Well done and keep the good spirit up!

Curry was so tasty, great value and some added extras was a bonus so thanks so much will be ordering again! One thing was that one of the lids to my curry wasn't fully closed so it leaked in the bag in transit so hopefully next time that won't be an issue :) Thanks so much!

It was so so bad!! It's worst paneer and chicken tikka I have ever eaten! Is it even authentic Indian? Are they just fooling the customer? I almost paid £23 for such horrible food! Extremely disappointed by the quality of food!!

Bengali prawns were nice and tasty. Only thing I didn’t like with the vegetable side dish. I ordered a sabji and got given an chickpea curry probably a freebie the flavour was not all that both side dish tasted the same over powered in spices. Sabji should be light in spices not so over powder the curry looked brown. Stuffed paratha wasn’t the greatest and no flavour. I knew it out to the birds and lassi wasn’t the greatest. Not ordering here again. What a waste of money!

Everything was warm and great service and just as we wanted however, I felt like this was TOO hot.. it was like they put too much spice in which meant we both threw it away as it wasn’t possible to eat! And I love spice! But this was far too much

Food was great but for second time in a row, an item was missing. It says the veg dansak comes with pilau rice but it was either missing, or the extra pilau rice was ordered was missing. Either way, we were short one rice.

Claramente no se había guardado en ningún restaurante de bolsas de retención de calor para mí. Se suponía que el plato principal era Tandoori King Prawn Masala. Había CERO Langostinos, eran camarones diminutos y no muchos. La guarnición Saag Aloo fue un mal ejemplo. Saag apenas visible y el equivalente Aloo de dos patatas pequeñas. Nunca volveré a ordenar.

The food we got was great as usual. It's just a shame there were two missing items. One missing item is ok but I don't understand two. Just seems careless and really poor service. It caused quite a lot of inconvenience.

Delicious flavours! Maybe not quite enough meat in the curries but the sauce and the flavours are awesome so not the end of the world if you’ve got plenty of rice and naan to soak it all up.

Great food! It was delicious! Rich in flavour thick sauces with chunks of delicious chicken and freshly cooked vegetables, hot but not too hot- just perfect👌 fresh salad + outstanding, crispy on the outside but soft inside onion bhajis!!- not sure if they were gratis or a mistake, either way much appreciated! I can't recommend them enough!

Tried first time but chappati was not even cooked properly and thin like a tortilla wrap , curry was too oily and tasteless

Shame second time I baught in that restaurant and i ordered potatoes with spinash the potatos were smelling off ,i don't understand why restaurant risk and sales cook food who have past the date and olso very gridy the quantity is extremely small !!! desappointed in part of that it was nice food.

Ordered two types of rice, plain and special fried, lamb samosa, chicken tikka curry, chickpeas and potatoes and cauliflower and potatoes curries. Absolutely all of it but not worth eating so we didn’t. Nothing tasted as it should not even the rice. Really do not recommend, sadly.

Probably one of the worst curries I've had

Nasty little pieces of tough, anonymous meat suspended in a vaguely almond-flavoured brown colloid. Naan seemed stale. Sag (spinach) tasteless and almost non-existent. Wont be reordering from here.

Arrived early/on time, hot, prices are reasonable. Chicken madras was great- right amount of spice and chicken was tender. Spinach and potato was delicious with a good amount of spinach. Will order again.

I usually order from avo spice. They do reli good food and give u a free main dish with orders over £20. Always satisfied and full.

The popadoms are burnt and don't taste nice they happens too often. The onion are also burnt and taste like they have been deep fried in dirty oil. Not the best experience I've had with this restaurant sadly.

I have been hear 2 or 3 times now. Ordered hear today and the food was vile. The coconut rice=BURNT Chicken Tika masala=BURNT Tika panir= BURNT Popadom=BROKEN INTO LITTLE PEICES. ABSOLUT WAIST OF £37. Very unlikely going to get my money back. Always get told to go to Uber when I have a problem and they tell me to go restaurant. Will NEVER ORDER HEAR AGAIN.
