I would highly recommend this restaurant, the staff are lovely and make sure customers get the best experience possible, they were so helpful and the food was delicious.

Had a great time enjoying a cuppa and a chat with friends and a quick bite to eat got sorted by jenny and Alison. Defo come back

Let me say that I love Atkinsons. Unfortunately although I have used the restaurant on a number of occasions, I was really disappointed with this visit. Breakfast was lovely but the young woman who served us this time was really rude and abrupt. John Cleese from Faulty Towers springs to mind. Her face was like thunder the whole time. Despite us smiling and being polite it was as if she was doing us a great favour by serving us at all. Normally the staff are lovely but this one let them down. We couldn’t wait to leave. I think she really needs a job where she doesn’t have to speak to any customers as she clearly thinks it’s beneath her.

I am Atkinson's biggest fan,the staff in the restaurant are warm,friendly,efficient and very helpful.Why then have I only given one star for service.The reason is they seem to have employed a young lady who is so rude,no smile no greeting just a "What do you want" her attitude was on of tolerating customers,maybe she thinks good manners aren't required with older people.The whole restaurant had a different atmosphere because of her,no manners at all.No complaints about other lovely staff.Im sure other customers will have noticed.She does Atkinson's reputation no favours.

Lovely restaurant friendly attentive staff. We were delighted with the gluten free choices for my husband the staff where very knowledgeable and helpful. Will definitely be back . Made a couple of purchases in other departments and all the staff were very friendly. Well done Atkinsons 👏

After a bad experience at this cafe a few years ago, I thought I would give it another go. Sadly, the cheese and tomato quiche was a complete let-down. The filling had far too much milk in the mix and the server had difficulty keeping the intended slice together in one piece, and I also noticed the pastry was raw. I asked the server to pass on my comments which were "pastries for quiches and custards etc should be blind baked which theirs weren't and should use less milk or more eggs and cheese to help make this dish more edible. The only part of their quiche and sides that tasted of anything and held their shape were the tomato, chips and peas. Gutted once again! Pre 2016, this cafe was the place to go, but it has gone right down hill in my personal and professional opinion.

We visit Atkinsons Restaurant (on the 1st floor) almost every week for lunch; we have also tried their breakfast. We are very happy with the food there; refreshingly, the selection available looks like comforting home-cooked food, very different from the "defrosted-from-a-packet" offerings found at many other places. The most important thing for us is the outstanding customer service we experience in the restaurant. The staff are really friendly and take time to get to know all their regular customers. They couldn't be more helpful, and nothing is too much trouble for them. We really appreciate their efforts to make our experience while dining there as good as possible, and the interest they take in our preferences and what they can do to address these. I think this is the only department store remaining in Sheffield that has a restaurant; it also seems to be the only place in the city centre that you can visit on a regular basis to get a traditional cooked lunch: everywhere else is just fast food. We would recommend anyone passing through the city centre to drop in to Atkinsons Restaurant.

Quiche chips and beans £9.50 I didn't enjoy it and wasted all that food of £9.50

Came yesterday 11th April with my mom, dad & family friend. My dad & me had turkey with sage in a Yorkshire puddings wrap. My mom & family friend had jacket potato with tuna & salad, with assortment of drinks. Food was fantastic & staff great. Good value for money. Thankyou ladies & the lovely young man, sorry I didn't know his name. Plus I work for Atkinsons.

We are regular customers and have always had excellent service. We have breakfast which is always good especially the sausages.also sometimes we have lunch , the meat pie dinner was really tasty and will definately be having it again .

Great staff will do anything for you to make you happy , Jenny and the team are kind and pleasant . We come and eat here every Saturday and it’s always lovely food especially the pea soup !!! My husband recommends the pie chips and peas We are always greeted when we come into the restaurant, the restaurant is very clean and the children’s kitchen play area is great for our grandson to play xxx

Fantastic Atkinsons restaurant. The meat & potato pie is an ‘old school’ classic and the highlight of my Friday trips into Sheffield. Filled with good quality meat plus accompanied by great chips and peas. Plus….the ladies who serve are very helpful and if you smile you might get an extra chip. Well worth a visit. Thank you!

Terrible food.. frozen burgers, awful meat and potato pie and the price isn’t cheap. Worse than weatherspoons quality and more expensive. Avoid.

I went here to meet dad and have a Christmas dinner with him,as we live far away from each other.i liked the food and drink and the atmosphere of the place,easy to talk to others.

Went in Atkinsons restaurant today with my 3 year old son and mum for breakfast, we had a 10 item, 8 item and a kids breakfast, if i could give 10 stars I honestly would, its cliched but when i say 'the best breakfast' but i honestly mean it, freshly cooked local produce, the manageress and staff couldnt do enough for us, sons a really fussy eater and he ate everything which says a lot, the quality and value is 2nd to none, and the homemade scones, WOW! Will definately be returning next time I'm in town. My son loved the kids area, kept him occupied for the hour we spent there, plenty for him to engage with. Lovely warm atmosphere, lots of regulars, the staff knew 90% of the customers by name which is lovely to see, going that extra mile to make people feel welcome Well done and well deserved 5 star review

Me and my friend went for breakfast in Atkinson's restaurant it was lovely and a great price too staff were all really lovely and helpful I walk with a crutch and they brought everything to my table I'd definitely recommend.

We enjoyed our roast dinner meals but sadly the desserts were a let down. This was the bread and butter pudding and custard which was inedible. I think they forgot to put the custard powder in the water and it was just like bread and water pudding. To say they were £4.99 each that was a waste of almost £10 for us both. We were offered a free dessert on our next visit but we shall not be returning. The cutlery was dirty also and we tried a few spoons and they were all the same with dried food on them.

Went into the restaurant today with my family had an amazing family meal lovely staff they make time to speak to each and every customer. X we was stuffed ready to hit the market. Food was amazing especially the jam sponge and custard

Terrible experience, rude staff (except one lovely lady with dark hair). We went in at 2pm, one portion of meat & potato pie left from all hot food. I asked how come no more hot food & was told ‘well it is 2pm’! . Ordered 2 jackets spuds & the last m&p pie, all 3 meals were horrible with terrible service.

What the restaurant lacks in style, the staff certainly make up for it with personality, speed, smiles and a sincere welcome. They're on point and skilled at anticipating customer needs as you navigate the cafeteria buffet. It's takes skill to do that day in, day out and make the customer feel important. Some of the seating is worn and tired which never looks good though.

We had jacket potato with tuna & spring onion filling. It was accompanied by a fresh salad & coleslaw plus individual butters. Very filling, & tasty. Fresh water was made available on entry to restaurant. A nice touch! Comfortable seating. Clean tables & cutlery & toilets sparkle. Thank you.

Where people say its a lovely restraint...well they must be blind and have no taste...i recently had a breakfast there and it was awful...every item apart from the fried egg was very cold..i took it back and they just put it in microwave for 1 minute and it was still cold...shocking..it wants closing down

Called in to cafe on furniture floor for a tea cake and coffee. Friendly staff. Table service. Cakes and toasties to choose from. Very busy. Plenty of full tables. Only comment was slow to clear tables to enable next customers to sit down to a clean table. Would call in again here (This is not the Atkinsons main food restaurant)

What a friendly store this is. I purchased a product here which is totally unavailable elsewhere and I bought the lot. I travelled 220 miles to visit the store. The restaurant food offer was brilliant. Great cakes and proper tea. Non of your cheap tea bag rubbish. The owners should be proud of this real gem. Forget your ebays and amazons get into ATKINSONS !!!!!!!!!!!

This is a good restaurant the staff are always pleasant but it would be nice to have some light music playing because all you can hear are the fridges running the rest of the store has music playing so why can't the restaurant.

I have visited Atkinsons Department Store today for the first time in my life. WOW!!!! What a lovely shopping experience, in particular the eateries, we had a coffee on arrival in the Atkinsons own restaurant and it's a delightful place, very friendly and welcoming with lovely menu at very reasonable prices, then in the afternoon when we got peckish we visited Angelicas for a light bite and what a treat it turned out to be. We each had a toasted sandwich with salad and chips, absolutely delicious, gorgeous surroundings, wonderful staff and excellent value. The staff were superb and couldn't be more helpful, it all made for a brilliant experience. I think Atkinsons should be very proud of themselves for the whole shopping experience, I can only assume that because all the staff are lovely is because they must work for such a good employer they all are pleased to be of service. Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant 10 out of 10 can't wait to go again

Called in for lunch during a shopping trip. We chose pork chop from a selection of hot meals. It was overcooked, hard and leathery. Roast potatoes were clearly cooked from frozen and unappetizing. At £7.50 I would have expected better. The staff were friendly and helpful. 'If' I tried this place again I would not go for the 'hot meal' menu.

We had a cheese & bacon toastie & a ham & cheese toastie with chips. Along with a nice pot of fresh tea it did the job. Many customers who were very friendly & obviously regulars. We had a pleasant time. Special thanks to the young waitresses who looked after us rather well & made allowances for my advancing years in a very respectful way.

This is such a friendly and comfortable space to enjoy traditional refreshments. Perfect pot of tea and delicious muffins. A place I can always rely on!!

As we were going to spend some time shopping along The Moor we decided to stop at Atkinson's as we saw there was a little restaurant on the ground floor. In fact it's not a restaurant per se but just a place where some basic food is prepared but enough to deceive our stomachs for a while. We visit Atkinson’s restaurant about four times a year. It is one of a handful of places that we select from when refuelling during an occasional visit to Sheffield. As a passing comment, the recent major refurbishment of the store has resulted in a vastly improved shopping experience. A major attribute of Atkinson’s restaurant is its consistency – we know exactly what is on offer, know how long it is going to take, and what it is going to cost. We generally opt for the roast, the service is pleasant and focussed, and typically it is populated with a variety of customers that reflects the customer base of the shop. We tried to visit on the Bank Holiday Monday of 28th May but although the shop seemed to be operating normally the restaurant was not; it was closed. This prompted us to consider trying the franchised(?) café, Café Maserella, on the ground floor – the initial signs were not good; no queue, very few customers seated despite the excellent location opening out onto The Moor and no competition from Atkinsons restaurant, only one member of staff in sight, and a general lack of liveliness about the place. However, needing something from somewhere, we decided to give it a chance and to keep it simple, we ordered a coffee and a tea plus a ready-made sandwich apiece. Unfortunately, our visit lived up to the initial signs. Without labouring over the details, we gradually became aware that there were three staff nominally on duty – one working with limited effectiveness behind the counter, one on walkabouts but not doing much re the café operations, and a young lady initially in the kitchen area who was doing her best to provide some service. Whilst we were waiting …. and waiting ….for the sandwiches to be delivered to our table (we had carried the lukewarm Americano with milk already added!), another couple queued for a short time, realised what was happening i.e. not a lot, and left ……….. exactly what we should have done.
