Atesh restaurant in Croydon

We often go to this restaurant and were thrilled when we received an email to say due to the current situation they were delivering. As always it was fabulous food and fast delivery.I really hope more people request delivery or takeaway from this fabulous restaurant.Thank you so much, it was wonderful.

The service in this restaurant is absolutely awful and the staff are very rude. The food isn’t of a good standard either and I would highly recommend people not to visit, or have a takeaway.

Went to the restaurant with the whole family , though the food was good but service was extremely poor and the staff and manger was rude. Had to go to the staff to get there attention. When I complained to the manger about the service, his response was ‘ the staff are older than you so I can’t complain’, and after said that they make enough money and I don’t need to come again after I said service needs to improve . WOULD NOT GO AGAIN IF YOU WANT A GOOD SERVICE AND HAPPY STAFF.

I had recently visited Atesh and I was so disappointed by lack of staff training and their hygiene. I witnessed the staff picking up the fork of the floor and placing it in customers plate . When I addressed it they were so rude and racist toward me . Staff were pickup their nose inside the bar and not even washing their hands . I asked to speak to the manger or the owner and he didn’t even bother to come out and speak to us . Food is tasteless and blend. Over cooked veg and under cooked meat. Chicken were pink.Staff were so rude and consistently making racial comment about other tables and making inappropriate comment about two Asian couple. None of the staff speak even a basic English so you can’t even have conversations with them . I would never recommend this place for families with small kids. They have no baby changing facilities as it was locked and in none of the toilets had soaps and hand sanitizer. When we were leaving we saw the owner sitting at the bar and drinking . How unprofessional.

Visited here with a friend mid-week for dinner, we pre-booked and are glad we did as we arrived at about 6.30pm but an hour later the place was heaving. Seated near the window, service was great we ordered a bottle of Red and 2 Chicken Shish dishes. Wine arrived in good time and was pretty reasonable price-wise. Food arrived and was amazing, fresh, piping hot and served well. Chicken Shish with Rice, Salad & Wrap. Large portions but well worth the £13 price tag.Service was good; friendly without being too intrusive, service did dip off a little bit after we ate and were left a long time with the plates in front of us and weren't asked if we wanted more drinks etc but that is a minor.Service charge was automatically added to the bill which is a pet hate of mine but no big issue. Great food, decor and service!

On Sunday 8th of March 2020 a group or 23 of us (mix of adults and teenagers) pre booked and ate here. We were persuaded to order the "Party Menu" which included a selection of starters and a selection of mains. The starters were okay and the mains consisted of plates of what was supposed to be chicken and lamb. The majority of was chicken wings with the odd piece of lamb kofta. The Chicken wings was given as supposed to expensive lambThere quantity was adequate for our group but when we got the bill we had a shock it was almost £800!!!!That was over £35 per person regardless if we were an adult or a teenager. They even charged us £18 for Turkish tea which is free in every Turkish restaurant I've ever eaten in.The value of that meal in total was no more than £300 max.I wouldn't spend £800 on my wedding reception let alone on a restaurant with mediocre food and service. In fact, when I saw the bill I was looking round the restaurant to see if i could find a nice girl to marry me there and then..... kill two birds with one stone.We were well and truly shafted and will never go back.

We were sold a fixed menu meal. The food was of low quality. Some things we chose were missing. Bill was close to 800. They charged for everything even tea at end which is usually complementary in Turkish restaurants. Not worth 35 a head. No salad. Food very average in taste. Going to stick to Green lane for Turkish food from now on. Every other place is just not providing the quality.

Went today 07/03/20 birthday lunch .. amazing from the friendly welcome to the unbelievably good bread.. faultless service And fantastic food .. If im hungry in future theirs is a door i will not pass .. I will be straight in to eat .. Give them a go !!!

The food here is really good! It was myself, partner and son and we shared the platter for one with a few meze dishes and then extra rice and some chips and it was plenty for all 3 of us. The cocktails were fab too. The only thing that wasn’t as great was the service, our waiter kept coming to the table every few seconds to take our order as if we had to really hurry up! But asides that, it’s a lovely restaurant and the decor is amazing!

We ate here last night with friends for a birthday. Booed a table and quickly seated. Friendly staff and order taken. Really quick service. A delicious meal and in no way rushed. I have been several times now and loved them all.

Due to awful storm Dennis we decided not to drive back up the M1 north . Looked on trip advisor and came across this restaurant . We had an excellent welcome and an equally excellent meal . Cheered us up !

One of the best Sunday grills / meals I have had . All the staff were on the ball service was great. Drinks within 5 minutes on seated at your table and the service just went on from there.

Way too overrated and expensive restaurant. It was the first turkish restaurant that I went to, and after I had the dinner here I can say I’m not sure that the owner knows too much about turkish food and kitchen. Very disappointed. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

Just extremely rude staff. Tried to order takeaway food and the restaurant was so rude on the phone, didn’t bother ordering in the end as I was so taken back by the attitude and rudeness of the member of staff on the phone.

Thus restaurant must be the worst in Sth London. Staff are rude and not helpful and the food is absolutely awful. I wouldn’t recommend a visit and most definitely won’t be returning

After reading some of the poor reviews I was a bit concerned but I was willing to give it a go so we went on a week day and I have to say I was really pleased with the attitude of the staff and the quality of the food. We ordered some meze dishes for 2 of us and I think 7 or 8 dishes is more than enough. So I would recommend.

If you are going to place a decent sized order (i.e. spend a decent amount), then you'll have no problem. Food is great, no issues there at all. If, however, your order is not big enough the staff are just rude, especially the head waiter. One time I was told by the person taking our order that our order was too small, saying this is a "McDonalds order". Another time the initial waiter recommended we order more than we initially asked for, so we did, and then the head waiter came and twisted our arms to make the order even bigger. In the end we had more food left over than all the extra we had been advised to order. And then when I mentioned that to the head waiter as we were leaving, he just said "good". What an a hole.

We went there as a group of 7 and spent more than £150, but we were received as unwanted!!! As we were given the menu,we were told by the rude waitress that we have less than a minute to place the as the kitchen is closing.

First visit here, I was recommended to go there and wasn’t disappointed. Great food and service, belly dancer entertainment. Would definitely go again had a lovely evening there.

First time at the restaurant and loved the vibe as soon as we walked in. Met and taken to a table quickly and even though it was busy the waiting staff were very attentive and quick. Drinks arrived very prompt, we had 2 different cocktails which were delicious. We ordered a couple of starters to share, again arrived very quickly. I had the lamb kebab and my friend lamb kofta's. There was so much lamb on my kebab, huge pieces of lamb and perfectly cooked.

Went to book special 60th birthday party of 16. The manager was unhelpful and rude. Decided to cancel booking and spent £700 at another restaurant in croydon.

Lovely venue, classy looking and very friendly and attentive staff. Although we forgot to book ahead they were gracious enough not to make it awkward and quickly found us a table. The food was amazing!!! Looked so pretty I didn't want to spoil the look but it tasted even better! Would definitely recommend it and visit it again.

We visited as a family of four, Food was delicious and service was great. Plenty of choice. We will be definitely coming back again.

We booked a table for 2 for Saturday evening . Came in on time and seated. The waiters were rushing to remove the plates even before we were finished with the starters. They even took our food away without asking if we were finished with the mains. Just a little later the " manager" came in and said he wanted to send us the bill because our time was over!!!!!! I asked " what do you mean? we were never told when we booked that there was a time limit at your restaurant". Manager replied" now I am telling you". He was utterly rude!!!! I felt disgusted, humiliated and embarrased. There were so many free tables and the restaurant was not even particularly busy. Besides, this should never happen. It is not professional. I came to this restaurant with my girl friend to enjoy our evening and it turned out to be a disatreous night, spoliled by the restaurant management. Never again- and I strongly advise people to avoid this restaurant. There are other much nicer Turkish restaurants in Beckenham / Bromley.

My husband, son and I visited around 5pm on a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy. Firstly we were greeted with a very stern ‘have you booked ‘ we said we had not. Another waiter said we could sit at a certain table. Then set Christmas menus were given to us. I asked ‘is it just set menus ‘? The waiter replied very haughty ‘yes for now ‘ . So we decided to leave because everyone else in the restaurant had menus! Then we were given menus! We decided from the service we received we would be better off not eating in this restaurant. From the other reviews I have now read I think this restaurant must have a gold medal for rudeness!

Everything wrong in the restaurant , UNPROFESSIONAL and very RUDE manager, mediocre staff. I will never go again, and I don't recommend this restaurant.

Had a meal for our wedding anniversary on a Saturday evening. Excellent menu choice and super wine. Loved the atmosphere and the huge mix of clientele. Staff were great and very attentive. We hadn't booked but thankfully got a table. Thoroughly recommend.

Our experience was the worst customer service I've experienced in years! My friend ordered the lamb chops and the cutlets were too fatty which she could not stomach. She attempted to eat it but after 1 bite she explained the issue to the waitress. She responded that she could not take the plate back to the kitchen so what did we expect her to do.

I visited Atesh with a large group to celebrate a family birthday.

It was good to hear that they could accommodate a Gluten free diet on arrival, despite not having it specifically on the menu.

Visited on a weeknight, food very good, nice big restaurant and clean....BUT frustratingly we were told we could not sit in the slightly quieter area as was VIP only! Clearly this was a lie as there were about 12 free tables. As the restaurant was not overly busy they had crammed everyone in the section in front of the main window (to no doubt appear busy)....there was a group next to us being quite loud and we were struggling to hear each other over our meal. I politely asked if we could sit on a table in the empty area but they refused to move us, stating was for VIP only! Kinda put a downer on our experience.

We have now become regulars at this wonderful restaurant and throughly enjoy their food.

The food was excellent, I wish to return all our plates were super fantastic with a amazing taste. But at the end after paying the waitress told us that we should not be there, they only let us in because it was empty and that usually what we were wearing(casual) it's not allowed in there. We felt uncomfortable as soon as we went in, they were looking at us sideways, even though there was a large number of 16 people making noise.

We had a reservation for a large number, they asked us to pick our food in advance and pay a deposit which was no problem and actually made it a lot easier on the night. It was busy but staff were lovely friendly and attentive and the food was lovely. We had such a variety on the menu and everyone loved their food. Would definitely recommend!

Atesh is a great venue for any occasion it has a large eating area and some seating outside.

We went to Atesh to celebrate my daughter's 40th birthday party. I am in a wheelchair and a waiter very kindly opened the front doors to enable me to get in and had put me at the end of the table and taken a chair away so as to accommodate my wheelchair.

I have visited this place on couple of occasions, unfortunately one of them was my wedding... We received terrible customer service from one of the waiters, who even suggested to fight with my husband! very rude!

We visited this 'restaurant' in May and found the decor to be very attractive and the place seemed busy, the real problems started when we were seated. I could see other guests were not happy with the service as waiters were not attentive to their needs. This was the first alarming bell, the second one was when our drinks order were taken 15 minutes later. We started ordering our food and when it came to my turn, I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered onion rings to which the waiter gave me a dirty look and said 'is that all you are having? COME ON Order a main dish' this was highly embarrassing but I went ahead knowing exactly what bland food was to come (as I have been here a month before). The food was given to some of our friends and the final dish took 45 minutes to come without apologies. The only excuse were... "the waiter forgot to put in the order". The portions were tiny and taste was 'cardboard' bland. We then tried to pay the bill and the waiter had no clue as to who was paying what, he tried to charge me twice and gave my receipt to someone else etc... it was literally 'pass the parcel'. Will we come back? No! The only plus points are, the restaurant does service very good highly quality cocktails and the best onion rings in Croydon. D-

What a lovely restaurant inside and food was delicious. Great service, and lovely food, the ambience was lovely. Very quick service. If you can book I would as it was very busy, we got a table didn’t have to wait but on busy nights I reckon you would need to book. Would definitely go back again and eat.

Atesh is a traditional authentic Turkish restaurant that offers clean, attractive and tasty food for a very good price. We went for the lunchtime menu which is just under £10 which included a drink, starter and main course from a wide selection of fresh cooked meals. Will definitely visit again

The food is delicious and the dishes large. Exceptionally good value for money. The prawns on the king prawn shish were huge and very tasty. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Gets busy so booking advisable at weekends

A large group of us ate here on a Saturday night. Service was very attentive throughout and the restaurant itself is really nice inside. We ordered the set menu, which is 25 pounds and includes 8 mezes and 4 types of bbq meat for 4 people. I could not believe how much food kept coming out, we ended up taking 8 large trays home! There were about 20 of us and we could have eaten 3 or 4 times over. The mezes were varied and I really liked some, others not so much. Loved the aubergine, the falafel, the haloumi and the shrimp. Not a fun of the calamari, tzatziki, hummus. Then the meats came out; all tender, moist and bursting with flavor. The lamb, chicken thigh and lamb kebab were all superb, they cook it on the Turkish grill and the meat is fresh: no microwaves or freezers in sight. As well as the mountains of meat, we were also bought chips, salad and bread. We could have literally ordered 1/4 of the food that we actually ordered and still all been full. I would certainly go back, but be wary of over-ordering

I wasn't greeted when entering the restaurant, just grunted at when I said I'm with them, pointing to the table with my family on.

My family and I had dinner at this restaurant and from the minute we walked in the staff were rude. They were rushing us, giving us attitude and not making us feel welcome. We literally walked into the restaurant and sat down and then they already started asking us what we wanted when we hadn’t even looked at the menu. The staffs attitude in general was rude. We had been there for an hour and a half and three waiters approached our table making us pay. We paid and they made us leave as they ‘had another booking’ when we hadn’t even finished our 2 hour slot. My sister hadn’t even finished her wine.

After lots of reviews from family and friends, my boyfriend and I came here for a romantic birthday dinner on a Monday night.

Staying over in Croydon pre Wimbledon day we strolled down the high street to check out the restaurants recommended in the visit Croydon info pack. None of the listings looked appetising nor had customers.

Well worth a visit. Food was really great,great value for money and good service . Was busy with a nice vibe.

Visited the restaurant on Saturday evening. Left disappointed without a meal. Manager on the day David was very rude. We ordered wine and starters and said would order mains later. We were told to order mains straight away or we would havd to move tables. They refused to send our order to the kitchen until we ordered mains. Terrible service and found the manager very patronising. We left without a meal due to such rude behaviour.

Try the slow cooked lamb or the mixed girll. You won't be sorry. Service is awalys top notch. Drinks are also really good

Visited here a couple of times on a recent business trip to Croydon. The restaurant itself is beautiful and looks like it should be in Mayfair not Croydon (no offence people of Croydon). The food is authentic Turkish and is absolutely delicious. It is reasonably priced and full satisfying. Delicious. Would 100% recommend and really hope to revisit.

A small group of us visited this restaurant as we have begun an Alphabet Restaurant challenge! From the outside we were pleasantly surprised that this place existed on our doorstep. It looks really nice and inviting. We were greeted and promptly shown to our reserved table. We shared 8 small plates which we regretted as soon as the main dish arrived. We accepted the recommendation from the waiter and ordered the platter for 4. We had to make enquiries as to where our food was as there was a large gap between our starter and main but when we saw it we were truly grateful! (See pic). The food was so good. Succulent, well-cooked and nicely presented. In fact, we were still talking about it a couple of days later. For once, I had no space for dessert.

Lovely evening with enjoyable food could not fault it. The most enjoyable part for me would be the lamb shish and salad it was amazing I didn't like the rice the starters where lovely as well. Thankmyoy for making it an enjoyable evening. I would deffently go again.

My friend and I visited this afternoon for the first time and shared 3 mezzes (starters) for £11.60, a dessert and had two cocktails each.

Warm and welcoming atmosphere, right in the heart of Croydon.... u wouldn’t even believe ... such class and elegance, friendly staff and a great menu. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Went here to celebrate a professional achievement with my family. There were 9 of us, including two young children, and I have to say that it was an excellent experience. We had one waiter by the name of Gabi who was very attentive and polite; the service was quick, the food was fresh and delicious (the kids loved their ice-cream!) and the final bill wasn't bad either for 9 people! Highly recommend!

Dropped in for dinner on a Thursday night, had three meze style starters with some lovely fresh bread. For the mains we had a spicy chicken kebab with Koban salad and potatoes, and another chicken kebab served on croutons, tomato sauce & yogurt. The second kebab was huge and I wouldn't have had a starter if I known. We did get asked if we like a doggy bag but as we were staying away it wasn't a option - if I was nearer home it would have made a nice lunch for two.

Worst restaurant ever. Went with family plus 2 kids. Waited 1 hour to get 1 mix platter. 3 tables came after us, got their food ate and left. When we brang it to waiters attention he advised we’re in the line the orders where taken. Lie because we ordered before any of these customers came, and we watched them order their food after us. Kids were crying out of hunger, 2 of us couldn’t even eat. Asked for the bill to find a service charge added. For what service I don’t know. Asked to rectify the bill and add some sort of discount but instead was responded with lies on lies, rude and bullying tactics, they took the service charge off. Called the police etc. Next time I’m passing by worth lobbing a few eggs so they can make up for that service charge and extortionate food price along with rude and ridiculous staff. It’s not about discount it’s about acknowledging your customer and making them come back even after a bad experience. Fack them. Never again and won’t recommend to my enemies.

Visited on Mothers day 31/03/19, for the first time and found it very busy and I was not very impressed by the lack of customer service. I found the staff unapproachable, unfriendly and unhelpful which impacted on my overall experience.

Hadn’t been Atesh for awhile but thought we’d go for dinner the other night. The place was pretty packed (advisable to book Fri/sat) but it had a nice buzzy atmosphere and the service was still very good. The food was really good and you won’t leave hungry.

We came here with the family for Mother’s Day. I can not fault the food it was good but as for the services it didn’t exist, you had to constantly chase down the waiters for something. When it came to paying the bill I asked for the services charge to be removed which was met by an aggressive waiter saying it’s compulsory. I politely disagreed and advised him that legally there is no obligation to pay the service charge.

It was a night with my friends after work so we needed to chill and we made the right decision going to Atesh.

Having been invited out for dinner later in the evening, we just wanted a light lunch. A selection of tasty meze was the perfect choice that we all enjoyed. Will definitely go back for second helpings!

Went in on a very busy Saturday night, it’s certainly a very popular choice. We had not booked but were accommodated and informed we only had 1hours 30 minutes to eat which we agreed to. Service was average we had to ask for our drinks to be topped up and empty plates took a while to be cleared away, due to how busy it was. After about 1 hour and 10 mlnutes the manager came over and said ‘we need the table’. We paid with a view of vacating in 20 minutes in line with what was agreed. The manager came over again demanding we vacate as agreed. We tried to explain that we would like to finish our drink but he said he told us he needed the table. He was now clearly frustrated and openly demonstrating his frustration because another customer was waiting, I tried to explain that my issue was that we were still within time, he did not wish to know and was just rude and dismissive. I have no problem with a time limit on unbooked tables being imposed but this should be honoured by both parties. It’s all about churn here I’m afraid. If you're not worried about the overall experience and being treated with respect you’ll be fine, however for me it’s more than a nice setting and average food so I won’t be back nor recommending.

Just spent a lovely afternoon eating some very good food at the Areah restaurant. Was a. Bit unsure given some of the reviews on here but I shouldn't have worried.

Visited this place twice and on both occasions was disappointed with the food and service. First of all the staff is VERY rude, no manners or people skills. Was overcharged on both occasions and the staff was very reluctant to amend the bill. The food was very average and expensive for a kebab that taste better next door for third of the price!

Please avoid this place .. low quality of service Several times my friend and I were overcharged and in addition we were verbally abused. Shame for the space occupied by crooks.

Very nice ambience and attentive staff. Food was served pretty fast for a Friday evening and was very tasty. Definitely a place we would visit again. We didn’t realise when we went but later on into the meal, they had a belly dancer for the evening which was a surprising but a treat to watch.

The place gets really busy after 6.30/7pm. Service was a bit slow and many people had to request the bill several times. I had the adona kebab and chips. The kebab had some hard parts in it which was uncomfortable to eat. My friend had the seabass and it was clearly frozen fish used! They ran out of vanilla ice cream and instead of asking us if we wanted a substitute, they presented us with another ice cream which didn't go with our sticky toffee pudding. I noticed straight away and then requested for the ice cream to be changed.

Food and service were good, but unfortunately they don’t accept American Express which was our preferred payment method. It was a business dinner so we were a large group and so the bill was high! More and more businesses with their professionals are relocating to Croydon, so one would hope for such a fine restaurant they’d accept American Express in the very near future.

Been here a few times now and never been disappointed! Food is amazing always hot and a good amount of food! Cocktails are also lovely and good price! They also have a belly dancer on Fridays! So good atmosphere! My favourite restaurant at the moment!

The food was really nice, well presented with a good portion size and full of flavour. The service was a bit lacking, nobody checked our food was ok offered pudding or more drinks. We would return based on the food itself but for the service.

This was our first visit after Atesh was recommended to us. We ended up just having Meze dishes and shared them between us to get the chance to sample.as many things as we could between us. Everything was delicious and came in good sized portions. There was a good selection for the vegetarian in the family as well. We have deceided that we will all try one of the main dishes on our next visit.

oh my got whats this i never see like this decor before.so many restaurant around this road but i think biggest one is this and all mezes fresh and tasty. we tried 6 different meze, we loved all of them.

I have visited this restaurant numerous times, the food is always of a good standard. I have been and never had to book, even on a Friday we have just turned up and they have always managed to seat us. The atmosphere is lovely, the waiters are really friendly and the food is never too long a wait.

amazing decor, amazing staff, love the food, the luch menu was made with care, tasty and very good portions. i would say this is one of my favourite local restraunts. i ate the adana kebab it was really nice.

Went there for dinner on a Friday evening. Was busy but they managed to seat us after a couple of minutes.

No issues with the food however very over priced. Service was poor there is one one young male who likes to slam items on the table whether it be food plates or drinks. My partner asked for some water which he did not bother to get. He was very stressed and felt like he would shout if we asked for water again. Had to wait 30mins for a bill. Over all poor experience for the amount we paid to eat there.

Sitting now in this restaurant. Very nice seats arrangement. Hospitable staff. Rich menue. Made our order and waiting for our dishes to be served. Good variety of starters. The ordered food is great and tasty. Well recommended. Thanks

Very very rude staff. Not smiling, not helpful nothing! I would definitely not recommend this place for anyone UNLESS they change some of their staff! Only one young iranian boy was smiling and helpful the rest was really rude as if they didnt wanna serve us or didnt wanna be there! Also, they tried to force us to pay for a service charge - which they didnt even draw it to our attention and when we refused to pay for it they were even worst! I know for a fact that customers do NOT have to pay for it if they wish not to. Especially if the service is this horrible! Also they charge a lot of money on a very small portion of meal. Do not go there and dont fall for the decorations of the place. You cant eat your food in peace if you dont get treated in peace!

As a wheelchair user- they refused to let me park- said I could be dropped off- could not grasp that I was the driver. Ramp into restaurant was steep & dangerous. A member of the public helped me by opening the door- staff just watched. Place smelt of sewage. Disabled toilet had no toilet paper- I found some in the cupboard- hand dryer did not work.

we visited this restaurant with couple of friends tonight, from the outside yes the restaurant does say that its a turkish restaurant but has got nothing to do with turkish culture nor the foods have turkish taste portion sizes are small all you get is the main course and nothing else served plus for the service that was really poor they forced us to pay a service charge which by law i said i dont have to pay this if iam not happy with the service your giving as i said this the staff in charge decided to walked off without even bothering to ask why we were not happy or what was the problem (really rude staff) disgusting behaviour towards customers never ever to go back to this place again in the future...

Restaurant was very nice restaurant, friendly staff and lovely food. all have enjoyed the food and reasonable price.

A vibrant and exquisite place to have a wonderful dining with your family and friends. Brilliant food, loved specially chicken thighs which you can not find on the menus of any other restaurants. Also loved my mix kebab and aubergine fries. Brilliant staff which they are quick to serve and very friendly. Brilliant atmoshphere and great Turkish music. Loved the baklava I had and Turkish tea served at the end. Absoulately you would have a great time and food for your money & night out. Not too much expensive. You would not regret or dissappoint for it. Definately will go back there again soon. Best Turkish Restaurant in the town...! in Croydon...! :)
