Aspendos Margate in Thanet

The kitchen closes at 9.30pm. We walked in exactly at 9.30pm. They sat us and the service and food was amazing. I would recommend you go there hungry as the portion is incredible you will not be disappointed. I only wish I could have done my meal justice.

Just amazing in every sense - wonderful, friendly, accommodating staff and delicious food. They catered for 33 of us for takeaway, no questions asked and everything was perfect. Thank you SO much! Couldn’t recommend Aspendos more highly.

Hotel restaurant menu where we were staying didn’t look exciting so saw this place when we were walking around Margate. Didn’t disappoint with good service, good food at a reasonable price Excellent choices, good wine selection and the offer of a sweet treat at the end of our visit

Exceptional food, great service.

After a very disappointing meal yesterday at the Thai Village in Westwood Cross Broadstairs for a pre Birthday Lunch we decided to return to a favourite of ours the next day. Met at the door by a smiling young lady and escorted to our table. Drinks and fresh water ordered. The starter was excellent and the main dish even better. A plentiful supply of warm fresh bread was supplied with the meal. We finished with coffee. The lovely waitress supplied us with a carry-out bag as the meal was huge. Sweets where offered at the door. As in previous visits a great place to eat. First class. Thanks.

Great atmosphere, lively, great food and service

The food was spot on when we visited on Sunday 1 Sept. Shame the service wasn't. Whether there were a few new staff members or not I don't know, but it was pretty poor. We were put on a nice enough table on entering, but then was left for quite a while and despite booking up a table for just two of us, we were asked a couple of times if the other person in our party were coming or not and when we said there were just the two of us, we were moved to another table tucked away in a corner. The service was pretty much non-excistant, but as the food was so good, we have this review four stars

Not of the Standards of Turkish restaurants I am usually eating wherever I go. The meat wasn't juicy as I usually expected from Turkish restaurants. Everything else was lovely, and the service too - highly professional.

Food was very nice, but staff not attentive enough. A handful of times had to get a managers attention who was leaning against the bar to send over a waiter so we could order another drink, pay our bill etc. Got our order wrong so then partner got served their meal but I sat empty handed for mine (next time maybe cook both fresh together) although kindly offered refreshments. Took 20 mins to pay and ended up walking up to the bar to finalise the bill as staff were not paying us any attention. Great food, cooked very nice but atmosphere and service left alot to be desired

Been here 4 times in the last 2 years. The food is amazing, BUT 3 out of 4 times the service was terrible. Offered 1 drink on arrival, and never saw anyone again until I had to flag someone down for the bill. Keep going back hoping the service improves but it hasn’t. Order home delivery is the best option for us from now on.

Great Food, good service. We have Olives and hummus starters, Falafel main course and a vegetarian burger with chips.

I recently visited Aspendos in Margate and was very impressed! This place perfectly captures the flavors and atmosphere of authentic Turkish cuisine. The kebabs were juicy, well-prepared, and full of flavor. The service was particularly impressive: the staff were friendly, polite, and always ready to help with recommendations. We chose a takeaway which was ready in good time and when stated. All the food was delicious and portions extremely generous. If we are ever in Margate again, we’ll be back and will dine in. We were very impressed.

After a long days walking around Margate, we decided to dine here based on the good reviews. The food was good and reasonably priced. We opted for one of the mixed grill platters and one person had chips and nuggets. The nuggets had real chicken inside and was delicious! The various dishes in the platter were also very nice. The warm bread, humus and Russian salad were all very yummy. The staff were nice and did their best to attend to everyone as the restaurant became busier. What spoiled it for us was being told that everything we'd wanted for dessert was no longer available. We didn't believe this and felt that it was because we had been there for about 90 minutes, which their website had stated was the maximum time given to guests, I guess because it gets so busy. It would have been better to just be transparent about this instead of claiming that such a well established restaurant had run out of most desserts before 8pm.

Late and the staff were happy to accommodate me, nice venue and loved the food, big portions. Had the feta filled filo pastry starter and lamb kebab main with all the extra bits, really nice 😁👌

We had a meal here last night and can honestly say it was the best meal we’ve had out for ages. Portion sizes were very generous and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely come here again when visiting Margate.

The one star i’ve given is for the staff they were extremely helpful and polite Angel and nicola made it much more enjoyable considering our experience. The meat was raw, and undercooked and honestly i was horrified. The yarpak sarma was clearly from a tin and not freshly made after we asked and were told it was. If it wasn’t for the staff i would’ve made a formal complaint cause this isn’t the first time we’ve experienced bad food quality. Their front office house staff are carrying the business on their shoulders and deserve endless praise.

We love the food here. Absolute 11/10. We typically order the meat combo and it is world class. Dessert is also fantastic. Ambiance is top notch. Only wish the employee who is taking our order secretly doesn't despise us as we have a feeling that they do based on instinct. Otherwise the place is perfect.

I visited solo as was on a work trip and found the place on trip advisor. It certainly lived up to the great reviews. Delicious complementary warm bread and the best tzatziki I’ve ever had. I then had the chicken Shish which came with two different types of rice and a lovely salad. All of it was delicious and I will be coming back the next time I am in town for work. Wish I lived closer!

My dining experience at the Turkish restaurant was exceptional. The food was delicious, The ambiance was inviting and added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. The customer service was outstanding, with attentive staff making sure every detail was taken care of. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience.

Not the most amazing experiences. We started with tzatziki and bread. We ordered cold meze and hot meze. The cold meze had 2 portions of tzatzikis, the hot meze 1 other portion of tzatIki. It felt like they were adding tzatzikis to everything. The sausage and the calamari were lukewam. We ordered a lamb shish from the kids menu, they brought an adult portion. Prices are eye watering, more than what I pay in London. Staff were nice and tried to bribe us with free sweets but by then the experience was ruined. Maybe we were just a bit unlucky as the restaurant seems to be highly rated.

Food was phenomenal wow. But the waitresses wanted to be anywhere but here. Give us a bit of service girls, you didn't check we were enjoying our meal, you didn't offer us another drink (wed of had 3-4 if you did) and gosh, you didn't smile.

Great service and great food at a very reasonable price , highly recommended , we will certainly be visiting again when we are in Margate.

Went for a family meal (6 of us) the food was 10/10 cooked to perfection and just such good value for money. We ordered the biggest platter and two additional Mezes and it was more than enough! 2 drinks each as well and came to £20 per person. Great speedy service, very impressed and will definitely be coming back again soon

Really enjoy going, we have been a few times. We usually get the large platter and a few extras which is perfect. They feed you well in terms of salad and bread. It is the closest Turkish we have found in comparison to north London

The reason why I gave 1 point is when I asked if the stuffed vegetables are made here, the waiter asked the kitchen and said that they are freshly made here, but the taste of canned stuffing is always the same, you can eat it anywhere.

Come with an appetite, in fact don't eat the day before. Food is excellent, service great, really friendly and lovely atmosphere. I would highly recommend.

Best food in Thanet, best Turkish in Thanet! Favourite restaurant in town. Kebabs are phenomenal and the complimentary cacik and bread are the cherry on top of a perfect meal.

The best place to get amazing food. My friend and I usually go to Ala Turka which is a firm favourite but this has blown it out of the park. Friendly and attentive staff, fantastic prices and a huge amount of food for what you pay. Lots of lovely personal touches which really adds to the experience. Our new favourite place and we will definitely be returning. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Delicious food and friendly staff.

Came here for my grandmother's 84th birthday and Aspendos didn't disappoint! We all had a wonderful time, and granny loved her moussaka. My partner and I shared the Aspendos Special platter, with plenty to take home with us after as there was so much food! Amazing value for money. Not to mention everything was delicious and top quality. The restaurant was packed and clearly very popular. Also, when they found out it was my granny's birthday, they played happy birthday for her through the speakers and brought her out a DELICIOUS cake with a candle in, free of charge. I have noise sensitivity issues and when I asked for the music to be turned down a little, they obliged, which was very kind and not all restaurants will do that. I can't recommend Aspendos enough, and will definitely be coming back.

I have to say, this is the best turkish food I've ever had in my life! I live in London and I was on vacation with my husband. We were looking for some halal restaurants and we decided to go and give this one a try. I've been in a few turkish restaurants in London and I never liked much the food, even I used to avoid turkish restaurants because of this. I still remember the first bite, OMG! It was sooo good, their food is incredible! It's so tasty, it comes in very good portions so it does definitely worth the price! Honestly, I loved it! I wish I find a restaurant like this one here in London.

Food was good - especially the kofte. Bread was so fresh and tasty! Special mention goes out to Faith, our server, who was brilliant, so pleasant and good with the young children, the five stars for service is for her! Thank you!

Usually very good but last 2 times was poor service was poor and food was over cooked very dry. Also they stopped giving you peppers ect

Good location, wasn;t busy the night we were in but the food is lovely and the staff are very attentive. They have a good deal on cocktails (two for £14 if I remember?), which is well worth it.

It was one of the best Turkish meals I've tasted. Everything was fresh and tasty, well presented. The Turkish wine was excellent. Roman, our waiter was attentive to the needs of the children, and we met Chef Harun after the meal to personally thank him. The jug of water had sliced lemon. Toilets are downstairs in this large venue. Good for functions or large groups.

We were a walk-in group for a spontaneous celebration lunch after having some family photos taken nearby. Lovely food and drinks, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

It was very busy and noisy. Normally, it's a lot quieter. The food was reasonably priced and was high quality and needs to be recognised with a 5 stars. Price includes alcohol so £20-£25, nuts free place, The decorations are the best I have seen inside

We had dinner here on a Saturday evening after playing the augmented reality darts at Lost Island Adventure golf. We chose a selection of starters to share and had various shish kebabs for our main courses. The food was good and the staff were friendly.

The place was nice. It was Saturday evening so, it was too crowded. We went for dinner. The food was ok. But, not that good. The Pickles and Sauces they served, had some artificial flavours which were absolutely disgusting. The prices were too high but, food were not worthy. No cocktail drink for nonalcoholic. I'm not going there anymore.

Visited here for lunch with friends, really lovely welcome and great customer service throughout. Food was delicious and they were great with the fact I have a gluten allergy, they explained they didn't have gluten free bread at this time but they gave me chips instead, plus I could have the rice as they kept the bulgur wheat separate and all the meats and salad in the sharing plate, would definitely recommend and we will be going back soon.

thought itd be better based on how much i had to spend. menu very kebab shop like not particularly high end and they had no group meal options or medium group large group meal deal like in most restaurants. chicken wings: quantity very low for how much we bought. chicken kebab: good quality. ribs: good quality. salad: not enough given to our group. Overall: decent quality, but lacking in quantity. staff are ultra accommodating

Waitress is so rude and got attitude problem wearing a sunglasses when serving customers, I think she don’t know how to smile or maybe she never smile after she born, she keep looking at us like we’re having free food, never ever again

Inside is modern and stylish with great food however service is absolutely poor - Upon entering we weren’t even greeted and were rudely gestured to take a seat by the waitress who neither smiled nor showed any enthusiasm.

There was no AC in the restaurant they said it was “broken” which I highly doubt, it’s peak summer time and your a seaside restaurant surely you would have AC working hmmm…waitress was not friendly at all, kept staring over at us whilst we are eating and same goes for the chefs in the kitchen, which I found so weird and uncomfortable. In terms of the food, the lahmacun was greasy as ever and so oily - literally dripping. I would not recommend this place at all, absolutely disgusting 🤢

Went to eat today . There was no one in the restaurant but us . Lovely atmosphere however, I was not happy with the service at all . Told the waiter to give me water without ice and lemon but she gave me with lemon and ice . I mean love the presentation but my God never had Turkish pizza with so much flour . My hands were pure white ( I’m not even exaggerating )all of us had to use tissues to get rid of some flours . I don’t think people even use that much flour for NAAN 🫓 or pancakes 🫓. And there was such amount meat that when I saw , I was shocked . Burned and empty not to mention was not tasty . And I ordered 2 !!! . Liked the lamb shish . Even tho I had much better cooked lamb shish in other restaurant but let’s say this was the only thing that was good between all of things I ordered . The bread that they give at the beginning was sweet so was not my style . Loved the olives . That was the best . £40 was not something I would pay for thing kind of meal . I just wasted £40 . I think waiters needs to be more caring and presentable . The waiter was not even smiling or asked how was the food . Halloumi was Oky . Liked the portion .

Family of 8 of us went out for a meal was recommended to come here. Was greeted by the staff. Very friendly and helpful always is showing that if we need anything on the table just call them over Was not disappointed. The food was fresh and mouth watering taste enjoyed the lamb dishes and the chicken with the rice. Love to live to a starter with hummus and the bread would be coming back here soon. Once we visit this area again would recommend you to pop in and try it.

What a lovely service and exceptional food quality. The sharing platter includes perfectly grilled meats full of fantastic flavour. No way you can ever achieve this taste grilling at home. No compromise on quality is the best approach to see the same customers again. Good news if this time Margate is not your destination - they have more brunches on the east coast including Deal. Special thank you to the young mum - she offered genuine smile which was an amazing addition to our meal.

Went today as a family of four. Food came out and was missing a chicken shish. Waited 5 mins and asked the waitress how long the chicken shish would be, she said its on it's way. Another 5 mins passed so I asked her again she pointed to the grill where I could see the chicken being cooked and said it would be 2 mins. That chicken soon disappeared somewhere else. So this time a male waiter walked by so I explained to him and he said he would go and sort it. After a further 15 mins, which was 25 mins after the rest of the family were fed it arrived and the waiter said don't worry I will take money off at the end for you. So I sat and ate my meal while everyone else had finished 20 mins earlier. The bill came and was offered £5 off!!! We had ordered chips to accompany it but they were all gone and would have been cold if any were left. No offer of a drink while I waited 25 mins for my food to come. Won't be returning

Really great food and drink. They were out of Turkish coffee but made me a lovely tea instead. And the baklava was dripping with honey.

The Atmosphere and service 5****…

I’ve tried some Turkish food before, and it was good but this one, was beyond my expectations. First of all, this place has an amazing staff that really makes you feel a well pleased customer, and treated with respect, attention and great service. We ordered a family special. Well, we thought it’s gonna be a big portion but that one, was huuuuuge. And above that, the food and especially the meat was EXTREMELY tasty and mouth-watering !!! They really know what they’re doing. LOVED IT !! Recommend it and would definitely go back 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Amazing restaurant, clean, organised, friendly staff (thanks Roman), we ordered a family meal and received a surprisingly big amount of delicious food, the meat was so nicely cooked and everything was so tasty.

Very nice place inside, with a window to the kitchen, everything happens in front of you. The appetizers and mains were very good and the portions were very big. Service was ok and polite. The only reason I can't give it a rating of 5 is the massively dropped the ball with the dessert, the baklava was really bad. Probably a bad batch given the difference of quality with the other dishes.
