ASK - Lincoln in Lincoln

The menu offers a wide range of options, and the service was both friendly and efficient, with food arriving quickly. We started with the Nduja sausage dough balls and bruschetta, both of which were huge. The dough balls were fresh and delicious, but they could easily have been half the size and still been plenty. For mains, we tried the crayfish and prawn pasta and the spicy Arrabbiata pasta, which were decent but not exceptional. With two soft drinks each and a 10% tip, the total came to £70. Would have given 5 stars but the place is a bit dirty with tables not properly wiped down and visible food on the floors. Glass entrance doors and windows are in a real need of a good clean.

My wife and I visited this restaurant at about 6:30 one evening for dinner. The restaurant was quiet, with many empty tables close to the window overlooking the Fossedyke Pool. We were told that all the tables were booked and that there would be none free until about 7:45. When we returned at 7:45 it was clear to see that none of the empty tables had been used. We ordered our meal, but then became aware that the air conditioning unit above us was blowing cold air, which was not at all pleasant. We, and another couple, asked if the air conditioning could be turned off. After a while we were told that it could only be turned off at the Ask Italiain headquarters! We then moved to empty tables that were not in the direct cold blast. Our starter arrived, but one of the dishes was not prepared properly, but my wife ate it anyway. We then waited a long time for our main course to arrive, over 30 minutes. Whilst this was going on we could see many delivery people arriving and leaving with various meals that had been order online. I suspected that these meals were being given priority over our main meal. When I spoke to the manager I received an unapologetic and surly response during which she blamed us for taking a long time to eat our starter! After waiting another ten minutes it was clear that our main meal was not going to arrive, so we left and got some very nive fish and chips around the corner. This was the worst restaurant experience that we have had. I contact Ask Litalian custoamr service but have not even had an acknowlegement. This is the last time that I will use Ask Italian.

Very good chain restaurant. It seems a lot of chain restaurants are going downhill but not this one! I have been twice when visiting the University & it’s been lovely both times, food is good quality & the staff are extremely polite & friendly. Clearly it’s well managed & run which makes all the difference. Beautiful views over the water from certain tables.

We had a fantastic time at Ask Italian this evening. My partner suffers with allergies but our server Will was absolutely fantastic and made us feel safe and confident while dining. Will showed us exactly how to use the allergy menu and made sure that there were no allergens in the complimentary drink before we consumed them. He also provided the table with a discreet decoration that let the staff know there was an allergy. We loved this as it meant we felt safe without a huge sign saying allergy. The food was delicious and atmosphere was lovely.

My daughter and I thought of going for a nice lunch together and went to the port, to Ask Italian, as it had been some time we had been there. It was a nice weather, very hot outside even, with a clear sun. So we decided going fo a table inside. We were welcomed very friendly and brought to a table. We were immediately handed over the menu's (a standard and a summer set menu, 3 course). We were served 2 small glasses of fresh lemon juice. These tasted nice. So, after having had a look at the menu's, we decided going for the 3 course summer set menu, both. I started with the Burrata Caprese and for main the Salami Misti Prima pizza. When the lady serving us (I believe it was Eloise) returned what we wanted to drink, we informed we could order the food as well. For drinks we ordered a nice bigger glass of the lemonade and a coke. And we informed our food wishes too. The drinks and starters were served quickly. Everything was nice and fresh. The mozzarella with tomatoes, with rocket and basil tasted very nice, but a very much some olive oil and salt. These were not present the table(s), but not served with the food either. A pity. We asked some additional fresh water, as the sun was hot, even inside. No problem what so ever. So, we were served our mains, unfortunately I did not get a sharp pizza-knife, but normal cutlery. And a pizza-wheel. The last could have been useful, if the pizza would have had a nice and crusty base. I could have cut slices with the wheel and eat out of the hand. The pizza did not really appear fluffy with a crunchy board, as if it had not risen and no salt, or white bread flour had been used. I kind of earlier prepared dough of an average quality. The dough is a very important part of the pizza, if not thé most important. The taste was ok, but the topping was minimal. I am sorry, but both the starter and the main not what I expected. A pity as the service, the weather and my companionship were pleasant. My girl liked her Butterfly King prawns and her Spaghetti Pomodoro very much. Our desserts are nice; a Tiramisu and a Tropical Sorbet Sundae Once again, the service was good and the location too. A pity ny pizza was a kind of 'take away' one.

Second visit to Ask in Lincoln. Both times had a really good experience even with being gluten intolerant. Staff really helpful and clearly show the allergy requirement when serving food. Good choice of pizza and pasta available. The chocolate etna is amazing!

A superb restaurant with helpful and friendly staff. I went on holiday on Lincoln with my dad as on our first night we came here. I had the spaghetti which was delicious, I don’t normally have it so I was having a bit of a mess. I wasn’t given any napkin as we were sat outside but as soon as we asked they gave us a handful which was brilliant. I than had the blood Orange and chocolate tart which once again was superb. I would highly recommend this restaurant the food is great and staff are friendly and helpful.

We had a fantastic dinner here. The place was quite packed, but service was quick and all the dishes were tasty (and big). We ended up skipping dessert, as we were SO full from the food. Highly recommended!

Nice, clean restaurant with good menu. The only thing it lacked was atmosphere but that was because it is a big restaurant and we were the only diners even though it was a midweek lunchtime in December! Staff were attentive and the food was delicious.

We called to see if there was a table available for two people, girl said come back in 30minutes there should be. She didn’t take our name or a contact number. We went to a pub for a drink, 30 minutes later we went back a guy said we could have a table for 1 hour& 15 minutes. We sat down the guy came took our drinks order, my Husband wanted bruschetta there wasn’t any, I ordered a garlic bread which we shared. We waited and waited for the main. Kitchen had two chefs I felt sorry for them it was obvious short staffed in the kitchen area. No one came over to apologise about the wait. Eventually the food came my beef brisket with pasta was tough , I have had this before at Ask in Sheffield and it was lovely there it melted in your mouth. No one came over to ask if all was well with the meal. Staff -saw the odd one go outside probably on their breaks but quick vape then back in!!! We were asked if we wanted a dessert but I thought probably would arrive 3 hours later, so declined. Service very slow. We asked for the bill, the guy said press skip on the card reader if you do not wish to tip so I did. Good service gets a tip which this was not. Very disappointed as this was my Husband’s first time at Ask and he said never again. I have been lots of times to the Sheffield Ask where you get quick , friendly service with helpful staff.

Fantastic service and lovely food. Terri and Lewis served us and were both brilliant. We use this restaurant fairly regularly and have always had an excellent experience. We will definitely recommend it. Worth booking ahead as it’s popular.

Very disappointed when we visited ask Italian Lincoln, when we was shown to our table the waitress said I will put you here because it’s warmer over here, no it wasn’t it was so so cold I had to sit with my coat on and eat my meal. We waited along time for someone to come and take our order and when the waitress came over she didn’t have anything to write down what we wanted and she had to keep coming back because she had forgot what we had ordered. Our drinks and food took ages to come, also no one came and asked if we wanted more drinks. When our meals arrived some items was missing because she had forgot. I won’t be returning to this restaurant again. We went to the ask Italian in Scarborough and it was a lovely restaurant, warm with good service.

Walked in with my daughter. Stood at the welcome desk... and waited... and waited... watched one server walk past us a couple of times... no acknowledgement... no hello... then he went to the bar... and started talking to the bar server. After being stood there for a few minutes.. I gave it 30 more seconds... and walked out. Absolutely shocked at being ignored.. despite the place being pretty empty. A few filthy tables with empties on... didn't look all that welcoming... so maybe short staffed. But the server ignoring us... shame in you. Went near by to a Brazilian restaurant... still got a pizza... which beat Ask pizzas I've had in the past. Service amazing. Attentive from the second we walked in. Spent loads there.. which should have been in Ask's pocket! It would take a lot for me to try Ask again.

Lovely setting in a very calm atmosphere. Front of house and waiting staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The service was spot on and food was delicious. Appreciation of custom on departure which was lovely.

Not busy (early Weds eve) but hard to get a table. Very poor lighting, hard to read the menu (had to use phone torch!). SLow service, took at least 10 mins to give the order and a further 15 to get drinks. Separate GF menu provided, with discrete table flag. Food was OK, but hard to see what you were eating!

We really enjoyed the food here yesterday 30th aug for lunch . It was our grandson xanders 2nd birthday and he loved the bread sticks snd tomatoe pasta and they made him a lovely dessert with happy birthday on it. Excellent Service & Tasty Food Service from Rebecca was excellent. She was attentive and friendly. The food was served hot & within reasonable timescales. Would recommend a window seat if anyone can book ahead & request that. Toilets were clean although the toilet roll had run out. No spare rolls to be seen.

Visiting Lincoln, we did some research and opted for this as a good Italian restaurant. It fell short, but in ways which could easily be improved. First, the floor was noisy: moving chairs was a screeching experience. Floor covering at fault. Second, I wanted a Campari (why not, it's popular and Italian?).Quite emphatically, "We don't sell Campari." I should have asked why, but probably wouldn't have received the true reason. Third, one particular dish: Pollo Milanese. A deep-fried meat should be thoroughly dried of oil on absorbent paper. This was still swimming. Then it was served with chips: not frites, but fat twice- or thrice-cooked ones. Just wrong! It was accompanied by broccoli and (optional) mushroom sauce. I opted out of the sauce. A simple rocket salad would have been nice. Service was good, and the experience acceptable but un-Italian.

Had “last supper” dinner here before dropping my daughter off at university. It was Friday night so very busy and originally planned to go to Wagamama’s but huge queue outside so thought we’d try this place opposite.Very friendly waiter welcomed us and brought us to our table. He immediately warned us that a food order would take about 30 mins. I really appreciate someone who understands that customer satisfaction is to do with setting expectations. If we couldn’t wait that long we could choose to leave, if we could then we would be grateful when the food arrived and not angry for it taking so long. We then had a friendly waitress serve us a mini shot of raspberry lemonade - refreshing! - and then explain the scan ordering system which I think is great. So much better use of everyone’s time.My daughter ordered the Stromboli classic pizza and appreciated the mini pepperoni (“as you get pepperoni on each slice”) and I had the frutti di mare linguine which was delicious- great tomato sauce. Never heard of this restaurant before - don’t know if it part of a chain.4 out of 5 stars because of the 30 mins wait only. More like 4.5 though. Will come again.

Visited 17/9/21. Although the staff were friendly the evening was spoiled by the poor food. our starters were dried to the point of being welded to the serving dish. my wife tried to scrape hers ( Prawns} from the dish but they were dried out. I actually couldnt get mine (mushrooms} off the serving dish and complained. The replacement was served in exactly the same state. The main (pizza) was dry and tasteless. All in all a thoroughly disappointing experience. Ruined what had started out as a nice evening out with my wife. Never again..

Although our waitress was sweet, the evening was spoiled due to a number of items on the menu being unavailable and we might have gone elsewhere if we'd been told of the omissions before being served with our drinks. Two of us had decided to have the Penne Al Manzo Piccante . When she came to take our food order she told us that there was no meat for the Lasagnes or the Penne we were looking forward to. Instead I chose Calzone Carne Piccante and she came back a few minutes later to say this was also off the menu. I ended up with the chicken calzone which I found to be dry. I had expected it to be served with a pot of tomato sauce as they do at other Italian restaurants. However, the dessert - Chocolate Etna - was delicious.

Don’t botherWe pre booked it was Thursday night. We stood outside with one Couple in front of us. We stood there for 10 minutes before anyone came to see to either couple. After a 15 minute wait we eeee shown into the restaurant to a uncleaned unsanitised table. After a further 15 minute wait fir anyone to even take a drink order we gave up and walked out. We had a fab meal at the pub 40 yards along the marina.

Following a yearly cinema trip with granddaughter it had to be pizza for afters and well, ASK it was! Not booked? No, not a problem. Come on in. Plenty of sanitiser, clean table/cutlery and those glasses! Little touch with small glass of proper lemonade whilst waiting for drinks. Pizza's all round were excellent. Good quality and price and not skimpy on toppings. My calzone was best I have had. Tasty, spot on base that wasn't 'doughy' and really yummy contents. Well done chef. You get my top marks for your offerings. And, the staff. What can I say. So helpful, willing to get into a bit of banter but in right context. Manager - you've got a good team there - LOOK AFTER THEM. Thanks folks for making the end of our day a special treat. Bravo. Ps, we'll be back!

I am no great fan of big chains but I have to say that the service, the food and the wine were all very good at this outlet. Having turned up 'on spec' at a very busy time we were quickly seated, orders taken, food and drink served.Our server, who's name we never got (sorry) did make a lovely difference to our experience so if you were the your lady serving the 'mature' couple in the corner table by the window and asking about returning just for a coffee then thank you. You made a simple meal feel special and we appreciated that.

We had read reviews and they were good so we booked a Saturday night.We actually had to brush food off our chairs before we sat, and we could see lots of food debris on the floor already, very grubby sticky table!Our waitress was lovely and very very busy!The drinks cocktails we had were good, and the price compared to other places we had been.My husband had the Grande meatball lasagna and it was ok, however beware the salt overdose! From the Parma ham and smaller than it looked on advertisement.My chicken and mushroom risotto was just ok and small.My daughters spinach and cheese pasta dish was very tasty and again for cost of mains quite small.Desserts were adequate.If you have the misfortune to need to use the bathroom , I hope it is in a better state than I found it! It was so appalling if I hadn’t desperately needed it ( 2 cocktails) I would have turned around and left! It was definitely a health hazard.Also if you have any mobility issues the bathrooms are up the highest spiral staircase that made me nervous! So a definite no go!

We were on a day trip to Lincoln and had decided to eat our main meal at lunchtime with an Italian restaurant being our objective. We were turned away by neighbouring Prezza which looked almost empty but said they wouldn’t have a table for over an hour, and didn’t seem to be interested in any additional customers. I appreciate that staffing can be difficult at the moment, but there are positive ways of saying no.What a difference at ASK, the whole attitude was very positive and they would have a table available in about 15 minutes. We waited just up the quay watching the world go by and returned to be shown straight to our table, indeed we had a choice of tables. We were offered a tot taster of raspberry lemonade, advised of a couple of items that were not available because of supply chain issues but the big plus was that they could do the pasta dish my wife wanted without chilli. Things went from good to even better when we got chatting to our waitress (Victoria) to find she came from Horncastle where we were staying and proceeded to recommend various restaurants there, and suggested we avoided one we were thinking of booking. All in all a great experience, and the food was just what we had wanted too.

We made the most of the warm, sunny evening in the outside dining area as we watched Lincoln's own version of the passeggiata. The Super Green Pizza and the Spaghetti Lentil Ragu were colourful, appetising and delicious and the staff were attentive and congenial.

Food took over an hour to come for a margarita pizza... honestly didn’t taste much different to a spoons pizza just on a fancier plate. Didn’t get offered any sauces and place was incredibly loud. Very average experience

Great front of house service. Very welcoming and friendly. Let down by food. As per another review, my mushroom starter was exactly the same. I’ve ordered it for years and it’s always been lovely - this was close to being inedible. The waitress said she would forward my comments to the kitchen so hopefully she does and others are spared this expensive and poor quality starter. Pizza was very nice. Dessert was poor due to being served without one of the key ingredients - no mention was made when it was presented that they had run out of ingredients. The friendly waitress offered to swap for another dessert but I didn’t wish to as I was full.Ask needs to up its game on food to reach the standard they were previously at. I can’t help but wonder if the numerous Deliveroo orders going out are affecting the quality for those dining in.

Great location in the Branford marina area of the city. Surrounded by many other restaurant offerings, this outlet is smart and welcoming. Food served quickly, polite staff and good value.

We were a large party but felt as though we had individual attention. Nothing was too much trouble. food excellent.

Really disappointed with the meal and service we received at this ASK restaurant in Lincoln on Saturday. Served us up what we expected to be stuffed mushrooms but instead they look like they had been cooked the day before and for some reason had been flattened to the base of the dish and if another bowl had been sitting on them. Also spent most of the meal without drinks having to order the same round with three different waiters before receiving the drinks 25 mins after we had received our last drink. Also they whole restaurant seemed to only have one pepper grinder between the whole restaurant resulting in tables queuing for pepper, not to mention it was never sanitised after any use so very unhygienic.First time I’ve ever wrote a review but the level of service and food presentation was so bad I felt compelled to,

Amazing food and good energizing vibes, went there on the Euro 2020 England vs Germany day and it was as absolutely refreshing with a very friendly staff that started off with a welcome pink lemonade drink. We had many plates at the day and I loved them all, my favorite out of which was the purple basil pesto pasta very rich in flavor and very fresh (i think they may be making their own pasta dough) that really awakens all your senses from the presentation till you dive in the veggie, herbal, pine nutty, pesto classical yet rebellious nature of this dish. I also fell in love with the Mushroom Al Forno starter that had a bit of creaminess in the texture with the mozzarella, riserva cheese, garlic mayo yet balanced with the breadcrumbs. Even for the “Pollo E Funghi”pizza, i believe this may be the best pizza I have had in the UK, the dough is so crunchy thin and fresh and same are all the ingredients. For desserts, The menu mentioned that Chocolate Etna is a customer’s favorite and it was good but it didn’t really amaze me unlike the chocolate gnocchi which had a creamy nutella filling and a rich a bit bitter chocolate dip to balance out every bite.

Had a wonderful meal, on a Monday night. Great personal, made to feel very welcome. Freshly cooked food. Would definitely recommend.

Great location the the marine front, loads of seating in and outdoors. Plenty of options of on the menu. We always have a selection of starters which is plenty for us…from platters to breads and the garlic prawns. Good selection of wine and beers.The staff were very pleasant and polite. Open all afternoon which is great

We eat outside in the lively pedestrianised area of the wharf. The service was very friendly and they loved our golden retriever. We thought the food, service and value was excellent.

The food was great but came in second to the service. We were waited on by Yari and despite working in the hospitality industry in the tail end of a pandemic, he was bubbly and chatty. A really enjoyable experience with comfortable and friendly conversation.

This beautiful waterside location has outdoor seating which was popular on this sunny evening, though we chose to dine inside where there is plenty of space and includes an upstairs dining area. Our server, Luke, was welcoming and made sure we enjoyed our stay. He had a very pleasant manner and was always there to advise without being pushy. Having had a large lunch at the coast we decided to have a pasta dish each- mine a carbonara and my companion's a Bolognese. We thoroughly enjoyed the food though were surprised that it was served on cold plates.

Our family celebrated a birthday and the staff made every effort to make it’s special as they possibly could. They were so friendly, engaging and courteous that our whole party had a really brilliant time.The menu is varied and all food was presented beautifully and tasted great. The team were also more than happy to serve a birthday cake we brought along with us, adding candles and a rendition of happy birthday too.Thank you!
