Ask Italian in Chichester

Lovely location but the service was not very good. No spoons to eat pasta with, when asked the waiter just shrugged and said they didn’t have any. Ordered a dessert, which unfortunately the waitress dropped part of it in front of us, then said they didn’t have any more. On checking our bill we had been charged for the dropped dessert. Overall food was OK, but so we were surprised with the lack of service. Would not go here again.

Highly recommend the service and food at this restaurant especially by our server Leeson. He was warm and friendly. Due to limited time my daughter and I needed to be in and out within an hour. Leeson made sure our drinks, meals, dessert and the bill were with us quickly without us feeling rushed. Great experience especially after a challenging day.

The food is good but service and attitude is poor. Why put out small glasses for complimentary drinks and then not provide the drink? Also the food was served on cold plates. No coat hooks. Feels about as Italian as Watford. I think this place is probably beyond redemption

I was out for a Christmas meal with my friend and it was perfect. Justin the bartender made us delicious cocktails and our waitresses- Evie and Laila, were very friendly.

We came in last night and had some items from the Christmas menu. All four of us loved our food. The service was really friendly, and the restaurant clean ( yes, we know its not long since the refit). We shall return as its not our normal go to Italian place in Chichester.

From entering this restaurant, no one came to welcome us to a seat bearing in mind the place wasn’t busy at all. My mum went up to the bar and asked if we may be seated at a table to which a lady showed us over. Considering the restaurant wasn’t busy, the service was shocking slow and our food requests and drink requests weren’t acknowledged. Two of my family members asked for additional toppings on their pizzas, to which these weren’t added. We asked for table water, to which this wasn’t given until we asked again. There wasn’t any attention to detail for example ‘would you like any salt or pepper or sauces or parmesan cheese etc’. There seemed a lack of any real direction it felt like some staff were all on a training day or they’d rather be at home. There wasn’t anyone taking a clear direction or lead on the 5 or so tables that were occupied. When the bill came over, we were charged for additional toppings that we didn’t receive. We told our original waitress about this and she went off, got distracted and started serving other tables? We then told another waitress, anyone would think she was volunteering and not being paid, there wasn’t any personable skills towards us? Eventually, they took these extra charges off the bill and we paid and left. Overall, the food was good and tasted fresh. The bar man seemed like the only efficient member of staff and the new strawberry drink tasted lovely. I wouldn’t come to this restaurant again due to the service recieved.

Went for dinner with a work colleague the other week and had the best experience! The food was fantastic and the best part was the most attentive, friendly Assistant Manager (Lee Sun) waiting on our table. He made the experience so enjoyable and was really helpful assisting us with what to select on the menu. Will definately go again! Thank you.

My bar tender Justin was so nice and helpful seating us down. Such a polite young man. Our Fizz the Season drinks were also amazing, would definitely recommend!!!

This is a beautiful restaurant with friendly staff. I think the food could improve. I love lasagna and mine lacked flavour and sauce..... admittedly I didn't go for the pimped up version with extra sauce.

Our waiter was Leesun. The most attentive and professional waiter. It's very rare you go into a restaurant to have a sit down meal and have the great service of someone who actually feels they want you to have a great experience. He also made the best Martini!

Me and my Parents had a lovely dinner out for my mums birthday today. We left stuffed and content. The service was amazing and we managed to have a good laugh. The new strawberry drink was phenomenal from what I’ve heard from my mum and she ordered two. Would definitely recommend as a nice dinner out!

Ask Italian is a very relaxed place to go. With our two grandchildren who loved the food had colouring pens and paper whilst waiting. The service is good and the staff are very polite and lovely. I recommend this place to anyone who likes Italian food. Atmosphere is relaxed and friendly 😌

Sentado esperando para pedir bebidas para edades y tenía que llamar a la camarera. Empieza todo bien. Pedido 3 pizzas diferentes. 2 pizzas se sentaron a un lado durante 10 minutos. Cuando nos trajeron, nos dijeron que la 3a pizza había sido inventada incorrectamente y tuvo que esperar. Las 2 pizzas que se trajeron estaban frías y tuvieron que ser devueltas y permanecer. La 3a pizza salió correcta (finalmente) pero tuvo que ser devuelta ya que las otras 2 pizzas todavía iban a ser hechas! En general, no es una buena experiencia

This place is always busy so thought I’d check it out. Well, the masses of Chichester you’ve been getting it wrong. It’s fine but definitely not amazing. I had a pizza and pasta which were alright. My Mrs had the Vegan chicken which was basically inedible. Not in a rush to go back.

Had the best time celebrating my uncles birthday! The atmosphere was just right and my burrata carbonara was absolutely delicious. It was the service that really made the meal though, with Laila and Szandi going above and beyond from the moment we arrived to the moment we left - they really did make the birthday boy feel so special. Thank you so much for such a lovely evening. We will be back for sure. Highly recommend.

Was passing through Chichester on business and dined solo. Fantastic meal and service. Laila and Szandi were clearly understaffed yet still delivered such friendly professional service and I never felt rushed. My pizza was great - crusty base and very tasty topping - and my beer was ice cold. Will definitely return when I am back in Chichester and will bring my colleagues next time. Ace place to go for a quick tasty bite.

Went for a family meal x6 not a very busy evening . ,After drinks & starters only got informed, after about 20 minutes waiting for mains , that that had ran out of a toping for a pizza on the menu, very surprised with such limited pizza menu intern left myself with no other choice, to not have a main. Enjoy our £130, we will not back.

Whilst in Chichester we went to Ask in East Street for lunch. The restaurant is quite large. It was very clean, and we saw staff, after customers had left, cleaning the tables and chairs after use. It was quite noisy, but this was probably because of a hard finish to the room, so noise couldn’t be absorbed. There was a large selection of food on the menu, as well as a Summer set menu. There was also a selection of drinks, including cocktails The food was well presented. The staff were good, friendly, helpful and efficient. Seating is also available for children.

Great meal, venue and staff. Highly recommend and will return too.

Food was reasonable but service was appalling. Arrived at 4.50pm and left at 6.35pm having had only a main course and a desert. No one asked if we wanted any more drinks. No signature lemonade taster was offered. I have an opinion allergy and an object was placed on our table yet no one asked when taking the order about the allergy. Instead, I was given an allergy book to look up myself (with no instructions on how to use it) and no reference in it to onions!!! More attention was showed to people ordering takeaways sadly. I also add, on the day and time we went it was NOT busy. First time in Ask and possibly the last.

We've eaten several times at Ask in Chichester and always enjoyed the experience. This time we had a takeaway (actually Deliveroo, another first): 2 pizzas and a calamari starter. Both pizzas were undercooked. The salami misti was otherwise fine, as described on the menu. The pollo e pancetta pizza had no chicken, mushrooms or pancetta - just tomato and mozzarella; the calamari came without the garlic and lemon mayonnaise - just strips of tasteless batter with little evidence of calamari and without the mayonnaise quite inedible. We were hungry and tired so ate it, except the calamari which even with the addition of Hellmans was inedible. The whole experience was very disappointing and quite frankly a waste of money. It would be interesting to know if this was an unfortunate one-off or what one would normally expect, but I won't be giving it a second try.

Staff here are a dream and the food is the same. We got a cheese fondue which was such comfort food, highly recommend. Mains were large and delicious. Wish we had room for dessert they looked great. Definitely try and make a booking here before going theatre it will get busy.

Our garlic prawns were burnt as was the bread they were served on, the service was slow, the Polo milanese I ordered was served without the rocket & peas ( only spinach), no explanation was given. I had to ask twice where it was. I was not NOT told it was unavailable when I ordered. The chicken itself was like a piece or rubber you could not cut it and was inedible. When asking for the manager he was not quick to come to the table & when we called him when he went past us he shouted "we are really busy". The meal was deducted from the bill. It was the worst meal we have had in Ask EVER. As we were going onto the theatre, time was limited for a replacement meal and the whole evening was spoilt.

17 happy diners in our group. Excellent menu, well presented. We had to change our plans and number of diners and we changed some pre-orders (our fault) but Laila took it all in her stride with friendly efficiency.

Nice food, very reasonably priced, good service, and had a voucher for one pound for a children's dinner!
