I had a medium spiced Lamb Balti which tasted good, but I would have called it mildly spiced.

We had a great meal at Asian Spices, everything was very tasty and they even made us our favourite saag rice even though it wasn't on the menu! We came last August and were looking forward to a repeat visit this year, and were not disappointed, it was just as good as we remembered.

Absolutely superb! We have an awesome Bangladeshi restaurant where we live and this is on a par!! The achari chicken is to die for and to be greeted on the high street by the owner the next day wearing a beaming smile and asking how we are was quite special. 100% recommendation by me and my wife!

We were camping nearby and decided to have a take away. It was delivered fairly quickly and they kept in touch, but that was the only good point. The food was badly cooked. Two chicken tikka masala's were just pure coconut and the naga had very little flavour. My Dansak was ok, When my wife messaged to tell them it was poor, all they said was sorry about that! No refund offered, no pop by and we will put it right. Just sorry about that. DO NOT HAVE A TAKE AWAY FROM HERE. In fact just avoid it. They took £75 off us for for them so I guess that's why they weren't bothered.

Had a lovely Birthday meal here yesterday, the food and staff were excellent, I would recommend this restaurant. they are also very careful with food allergies and cater for vegetarians. Thanks for a lovely evening!!!

Firstly I would say that none of our party of 6 had any complaints about the food....when it finally arrived. Arrived at 6.30 and didn't see any food until 8.15. Dishes were all very tasty and decent sized portions. However, we did kind of feel that the takeaway customers took on more importance than us. Tucked away round the corner, we had to ask several times for next beer round and it was fully 15 minutes before we were even given any menus . Waiters were abrupt and lacking customer service skills. The bill when it arrived was hand written, almost illegible and difficult to understand. Had the service been better would return.

Had takeout of Chicken Tikka, vegetarian Biriyani Bombay potatoes and naan, the food was ready as ordered and absolutely delicious

Had takeaway and service was good friendly and quick. Food was really good and plenty. 4 onion Bahjis a person. There was no one in restaurant and I know our favourite Indian in Whitchurch is always busy mid week Just want to suggest that the place needs a complete revamp and overall. We nearly booked to eat in but glad we didn’t. Please get rid of the carpets if nothing else. Sorry to not give a better review. Would have emailed if I could have found one.

Just my favourite take away/restaurant. Have a take away at least once a month and sometimes visit to eat in with friends when we walk 3 miles there and 3 miles back 😂 just love the food and the vegan options are awesome and such a lovely friendly reception from all the staff.

Great food. Lovely “old fashioned” 1970s style decor inside. Traditional and reliable Indian restaurant. The staff are very knowledgable and the manager is very attentive. Consistent standards. Have been going here for 16 years.

We had a takeaway lamb tikka korma curry and a keema naan. The lamb a very small amount,was tough and tasteless. The sauce was the strangest Indian curry sauce We've ever tasted. It had a texture like semolina and was very sweet, did not taste like curry at all. My husband left most of his, which is unheard of. The keema Naan was also very sweet. We were so disappointed, we are both O.A.P's so this was a special treat for us, a treat that unfortunately ended up in the bin!

Having a campervan, and can't be bothered to cook we headed for this place. Not being locals didn't know what to expect. Nice warm welcome by young lady and gent we sat down and was quickly served have poppadoms to start with a classic pint and half of Cobra. Chicken pathia, and dansak rice an chapattis arrived and was very good. My wife said it was the hottest pathia she had eaten in ages 👍 The chicken was of excellent quality.... overall very enjoyable. Could quite easily visit again if in the the area. Well done guys and girls.

After a long day on the boat we walked into Ellesmere to eat. If it hadn't been for the delicious smell coming out of the doorway it would have been very easy to overlook this restaurant but we were lured in. Food excellent with some dishes we hadn't seen elsewhere, attentive but not overbearing staff. Definitely worth the walk

Nice place...but beware the wobbly tables, I leaned on the edge with my hand and it tipped spilling 2 cobras(small thank god). Their tikka masala sauce was thick and full of coconut👍 sadly I asked the waiter if the king prawns were big and he said yes...they were just normal little prawns tho 😟 not king prawns. This seems very common in a lot of Indian restaurants and I recommend castle tandoori in Chirk if you want actual king prawns. The lamb in the keema pilau was quite dry and hard but tasty. Overall the meal was nice, the Baji round, fresh and crispy. My friend got a balti and said it was the nicest she'd ever tasted👍👍👍 overall a nice little restaurant, I would go again but wouldn't ask for the prawns 👍 would maybe just get a balti👍👍

We were narrowboating on the Llangollen canal last week and had the opportunity to get a take away from Asian Spices. We were blown away at how good it was, so much so, we went back again on our return leg. I wish I lived closer than 130 miles away, such was the quality. Thank you Asian Spices!

Why and how isn’t this restaurant been brought into the 21st century. The decor and tables are from the ark so puts me off eating here. Seriously this Indian needs a long awaited face life if it’s going to survive

It seems management has changed which is good and food has been good but on takeaways have forgotten things so I’ve had to return to restaurant for missed items. Please bring this tatty old fashioned up to date with the times. It’s looked like this for years and desperately needs an update especially the cold horrible toilets

Currently staying in the area and ordered from here based on reviews. No delivery drivers so went to collect, found this very expensive for what you get. Ordered keema cheese naan which was mixed at all just half cheese and half keema. Onion bhajees and tikka masala were bland. Overall pretty disappointed with the whole meal. No raita provided for onion bhajee’s. Poor.

Ordered a takeaway from this restaurant and have to say this was one of the best takeaway’s I have ever had. The food was outstanding, freshly cooked and hot on arrival. Was staying at a lodge in the area and was delivered reasonably quick via the app I ordered on. Only down side is I don’t live in the area to order from this takeaway regularly.

Been eating from here since I was a primary school kid, never once had a bad dish. Staff are super friendly and if you’re eating in it’s not a long wait. I love this place and I highly recommend it, theres something for everyone to like and try 😁

Fantastic restaurant. The food was really good and we eat in a lot of Indian restaurants. All the dishes were so tasty especially the sag paneer. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Definitely worth a visit.

Fabulous little restaurant, food is truly amazing, don't letvthe decor put you off. The prices are well below other Indian restaurants we have visited, the wine at £15 a bottle is a bargain and quite delicious. The 4 of us all thoroughly enjoyed our food, flavours were amazing. Iman was an absolute gentleman, he made our night special. 10 out of 10 on all points, thank you Asian Spices for an excellent night, excellent food and excellent service.

It appears to be the only Asian restaurant in the town and could charge accordingly. Tables are small and décor is tatty, wallpaper missing off wall and gents toilet definitely needs an overhaul, even the toilet seat was broken. The food was expensive but looked and tasted great. There is an extensive menu so you can choose your favourite or something you've never heard of. We (four of us) thought the food was expensive at two bottles of wine £30 and the food £66 for a main course each and rice with poppadums and pickles to start. They will spice the food according to your taste. Overall, a very enjoyable meal only let down by the surroundings.

On holiday and looking for somewhere to eat and this popped up on Google maps, a quick call and we were booked in. What can i say one of the best currys I've had in a long time, Six different currys, naans, rice and onion bhaji to die for. If your in the area its a must.

I recently had a takeaway meal from Asian spice and I must say was a bit reluctant at first as I have had some not so great meals in the past . However I’m glad we gave it another go ! The food was gorgeous possibly the nicest madras I’ve ever had . I can’t wait for the restaurant to open properly again . excellent quality and value and couldn’t recommend it enough

The good food at this local restraunt is only equalled by the friendly and helpful service. Tonight's bought-in family dinner was the chicken and vegetable dhansak. Both fantastic...... and of course the signature Sag Paneer dish. really tasty.

I have had a lot of Indian meals all over the world but the chicken narga here was the best ever definitely worth a visit

The starters were excellent, not too big but a nice portion. My main, I had a Dhansak, was a bit disappointing since seemed to have no real lentils and some pineapple, perhaps it was a miss-ordered somehow. I am a boater and the next time I am in Ellesmere I will revisit. So I guess my conclusion is a qualified pretty good.

Went as a family of six, no issues in seating and fantastic service.We had a range of starters, curries and side orders - all were great and very tasty. The portions sizes were plentiful, so much so that we left with the proverbial 'doggy bag' .We do use this restaurant for take aways and it was a welcome change to have a meal and an enjoyable family night.

Had a take away curry and overall it was pretty good, very nice starters but my main (a Dansak) did not hit the spot, no lentils and appeared to have pineapple so perhaps a cooking error. Will certainly try it again.

We found this place while on a bike tour of Wales and we were staying fairly local to Ellesmere. 3 of us got starters, mains, sides and naan’s. Every dish was good, full of flavours. The staff were very welcoming and friendly while we waited. Really can’t say anything bad about the place. 3 very please very full bikers

We came to this restaurant because of hearing decent reviews, to walk in and to not have a good reception at all and from then it just went down hill. The only good thing about the evening was the popadoms, it took 1 hour for our main meal to get to us and when it arrived the naan bread wasn’t the one that we ordered so it got replaced but still wasn’t the garlic naan we wanted. The main meals we recieved were not as expected, they were lacking flavour all round. Overall this evening was awful, will not be rushing back!

Tried this place last night after reading some good reviews on here and were not disappointed. The food was delicious, really tasty. The dishes actually tasted different from each other which you don’t often find and they weren’t too heavy. Can’t recommend highly enough, delighted we’ve got a good Indian nearby now.

We had a takeaway one Friday evening after a week sampling the other restaurants in the village. It was by far the tastiest, and best value, meal we had. Lamb tikka starter was a tad over-cooked but everything else was exceptionally good. Clearly fresh rather than frozen chicken. Good portion sizes. Staff were friendly and efficient.

It was our first visit after moving to Ellesmere, our meals were excellent, lovely crisp poppadoms, the hottest Naan bread I have ever had, really reasonable wine prices , every we had was really good, the menu described things accurately with regard to the heat of the dishes, it was a good experience we will be returning soon.

We haven’t been to Asian Spices for many years. Used to be absolute crap to be honest, hunting round for meat, different dishes tasting the same - it was pants especially compared to my Uni Years in Urban West Midlands where the curry houses and Balti were exceptional.

Decided to treat ourselves to a takeaway while moored in Ellesmere. Service was excellent, nice young lady took my order and I decided to wait for the meals, Pleasant young man asked me about our holiday and canal boating in general. Meals were very tasty all courses were very good. Would definitely go

We called in here for our last meal whilst away on holiday (Narrowboat holiday). I had the Chicken Naga, Pauline had the chicken tikka (dry, with rice), we didn't know it would be dry but the staff bought us out a bowl of sauce for the tikka to go with the chicken.

I’ve been going to Mohamed’s restaurant every Friday for 22 years and was very concerned to hear that he was leaving last year, I didn’t think that he could be replaced but how wrong could I have been, Simon the new owner/ manager has somehow managed to improve on what was already a lovely place to eat in or takeaway, look forward to many more years of great Indian food :-)

We love visiting Ellesmere its one of our favourite places. We decided to try this restuarant as we had good good things about it. Staff were friendly and could't do enough. I don't eat spicy food so i decided to opt for tikka massala and my partner in crime opted for the hottest he could find. Neither of us were disappointed. The meals were hot and tasty. The best we have tasted in a long time. We will definitely go back to the restuarant

Booked New Year's eve arrived after it had been very busy early on. First impression the restaurant hasn't been updated since the last time I ate there over 10years ago .... very tired and shabby looking. Stains on most of the table cloths carpet that could do with a good clean waitress that looked scruffy wearing her own clothes and grubby toilets. Order a samosa starter which was very disappointing. Two dry looking samosas with a bit of lettuce and onion having tried to cut into the first one I quickly realised they were both still frozen in the middle. Told one of the waiters who agreed and took it away returning with another starter that was at least hot but not much better tasting..no real apology. The lamb balti main dish was an improvement but contained hardly any meat. Overall one of the worst Indian meals I've ever had. Perhaps I'll try it again in another ten years

We’ve eaten here, either to sit in our take away, several times and enjoyed each. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the food has always been enjoyable. Pricing means this is a good value place to enjoy an evening meal. Recommended.

We’ve been using this Indian restaurant for Saturday night takeaway for the last few years. Recently it has changed hands, but what hasn’t changed is the consistency in the food. Always tasty, the curries genuinely taste different from one another. If you’re in ellesmere and you fancy a curry, look no further. Service is always friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Recommended.

Popped in last night with friends for a meal as the restaurant is under new management and it is spot on ..The guys have got it together and are offering really good quality tasty food.. in fact it was that good we are having a takeaway tonight as my partner enjoyed it so much..

It says that it is under new management - that is not strictly true. Enam is now the sole manager and the food and service is as amazing if not better. The saag paneer is to die for as usual. Having lived in Stoke for 20 years, this was a gem of a find when I moved here and never disappoints. Enam is a superb host!

I used to use this restaurant weekly back in the days when I lived in Ellesmere and was always greeted upon entry and looked after attentively and they even knew my tastes and remembered me and my Dad. We visited this week after a period of absence and I believe the owners have changed. I did not recognize any of the staff and the welcome was not as homely as before. The menu is extensive and varied which always worries me as I prefer my food freshly prepared. Service was fairly quick and the starters arrived quickly as did the drinks and main courses, My food was tasty and all but one of us enjoyed our meals, my Dad has always ordered Dansak and he said this time his was bland. The restaurant has the same decor as it has had For the last 19 years and is desperate for an upgrade and as 'The Only Indian' in town it should be better. There are no GREAT places to eat in Ellesmere but this is in the top 6 IMHO. Poor access for disability sufferers but it is a 18th century building and the toilets are ok.

Six of us including 2 children all had different meals and all were good. Staff were friendly and cheerful.

Pre-booked a table for 5 people at 6.30pm on Saturday evening - arrived and were served drinks and poppodums. Order was taken shortly after and three starters arrived and were eaten....8'o clock came and we were still sat waiting for our main courses (our 12 year old son had had nothing to eat at this time) my husband went to find out what the problem was and he was told the delay on our food was because they had had a few large takeaway orders. We were not happy and asked for our food to be bagged up and left very disgruntled. By the time we walked home and dished out our curries it was Luke warm and not even that tasty. We are locals and have used this curry house regularly for many years, but I'm afraid we won't be going back!

Not sure what all the bad reviews are about. This place was great, having eaten a fair few curries in my time I was surprised about how much of a gem this place is. The Saag Paneer dish was fantastic, the Ceylon curry outstanding, the vegetable curry was delicious as well and the Tarka Dal was full of flavour. Also the music was pretty special!

Tried to overcharge. Hardly any meat or prawns in the curries. All sauce no protein. The volume of food for the price was appalling, the quality was mediocre but couldn’t look past the amount. Young family with three children consuming a banquet for four and hungry at the end. Used to be lovely, such a shame.

Recomendedby locals but very disappointed. Curry sauces good but lumps few and far between. Chicken in vegetarian dish. FROZEN SKINNY CHIPS!!! Never seen that in an inun. Still cant believe it. Naans like thin cardboard. 1 meal ok out of 5 . Not the way to get repeat business. Sorry lads.

Very disappointed. Toilets were really dirty, not been cleaned in a while. The table cloth had stains on it. In fact, they were so dirty they were stuck to the edges of the table. We walked out, didn’t have the stomach to try the food.

As this is the only asian restaurant in town they have no competition this may be why the service definitely wasnt up to the standard of where we live ( 3 in half a mile ). We were seated but didnt get a menu for about 5 mins and waited a good 10 mins for another drink halfway through the meal even though there was only one group of four in there. Food was fine,never had french fries in an indian before but that was ok and the main meals werent the tastiest however the peshwari naan was the best we have ever had anywhere

This was only my second visit as I do not live local to this restaurant. The setting is very acceptable and the staff are friendly and attentive. The menu is extensive which should cover all tastes. The food was nicely cooked and well presented, as I am used to London prices I found the final bill to be very acceptable. This is one restaurant that I will return to when next in Ellesmere.

Lots of variations of traditional and Non-tradititional curries on the menu. Reasonable prices and prompt friendly service. No parking requiring you to undertake a short walk, so take an umbellra if it's raining.

Very tasty food at a reasonable price. Will visit again. Good service, very friendly people and next to the White Heart so you can have a beer there whilst you wait.

As they advertise (see above) they are the ONLY Indian "in Town" but they are GOOD. They do not serve food with sauces from "ordered-in" tubs but DO make their own. The Bengal Chingri was especially good. Also noteworthy were the parathas - frshly cooked and some of the best we have had for a while. This is always a sign of a good kitchen and chef. Next time we are back here we will certainly return.
