Ashianna in Northumberland

Hosted an 80th birthday here for twenty people. Food was amazing, staff were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble & it all went like clockwork.

8.1 out of 10 from us on this visit An absolute belter of a curry house!! 14 of our curry gentlemen attended this curry house on a cold wet and windy evening. Our 1st of the year and what a pleasure it was. 1st the staff here are amazing!! What a switched on crew, knew their stuff and made you feel so at home, and cleaned away dirty plates etc very quickly. The venue is beautiful, lovely bar to wait at while waiting for friends, and a great selection of draught beers and wines. The decor is stunning and very eye catching. Very clean and very tidy. Food was top class!! Very nice in almost every element. The poppadoms and pickle tray to open was pretty standard, no pickling in the pickle tray, and nothing with spice. But still great to start. The pitta kebab starter was a real hit with those that ordered it, cleared there plates and didn't want to share. The tandoori lamb chops were spectacular, very tasty and full of meat, a hit with all. Our highlight of the mains was the curry with the back story...... Dinaj Puri Lamb from the cold mountains of Assam. Prepared with a special blend of naga chilli, only found in the North Eastern state of Assam & Sylhet. What a beautiful curry this was, something truly tasty and different from the rest. A true show stopper for this venue. The chicken tikka massala was very good, not too rich and not too sweet. With very tender and moist meat. No complaints about the taste and fallout of any of the dishes we sampled. But a few small points that would have rated this curry house higher, but as always we are open and honest..... Rice portions were a bit on the small side. Nan sizes were on the small side too. 1st round of poppadoms weren't very crispy. No pickle in the pickle trays. Unfortunately our nans took quite a while to come out after being given our curry's, not great for the dippers amongst us. The menu was a strange lay out and a bit confusing. Very minor points but still points we have a duty to make, to our curry heads. We highly rate this curry house, probably the best staff that has dealt with a large group, very efficient and friendly. Food is all very good 100% be back. It's lovely and local to Northumberland. Top tier curry house

Haven’t been in Ashiana for a while but this is a little gem in a small town in Northumberland. Outstanding service and really tasty food - what more could you ask for!

We visited the night before NYE, restaurant was quiet but that was to be expected just after xmas. Food was outstanding, plenty of flavour, portions just right and steaming hot. Friendly staff and a lovely clean restaurant. Best Indian meal we have had in a while.

We passed through bedlington on our way to Newcastle and decided to give it a try. We were absolutely blown away by the service as well as the food. This restaurant is highly recommended to anyone who fancies great heartwarming food.

Attending here you are always treat like a VIP. There is a choice of great beers including a good IPA Menu is extensive and I am always torn between the Deshi Korai Lamb and the Chicken Tikka jalfrezi. I know whichever I get its always 5 star quality with great service. Keep up the great work!

We went for an early meal instead of a takeaway in November. The restaurant was quiet but we were seated and served in good time. I had heard that prices had gone up in all local restaurants, and some had cut back on quantity as well due to the current economic climate. I can honestly say that prices had gone up a little, but the food was wonderful and up to the usual great standards. We would heartily recommend this place to everyone,

Picked up a takeaway tonight, we live 5 minutes drive away, food was cold. Very dissatisfied with the lamb tikka rogan Josh, lamb rather tough with fat running through it.

Very grateful to the owner for squeezing in our party of 6 at 6.30 pm on what was a very busy Friday evening at Ashiana. We all agreed afterwards that it was a very enjoyable meal. My chicken tikka starter and prawn rogan josh main course were both excellent and the house white wine exceedingly palatable. Service was attentive and we send our thanks to management and staff.

A Tuesday night saw us stumble upon this delightfully presented curry house in Bedlington. Heard about it from friends but hadn't seen it rated in any of the top ten curry houses of Northumberland. Don't know why this is because the tandoori chicken is some of the most tender we have sampled in a long time. The starters of Mixed Kebab for me and Onion Bhaji for Belinda set the tone for the entire meal: delicate and tasty they set the tastebuds dancing. For my main, Chicken Tikka Dhansak was the perfect combination of lentils, pineapple, tender chicken and piquant spice: it was amazing, indeed the best I've had to date. For Belinda, at her request her (mild) Chicken Tikka Bhuna was tweaked to Madras level heat which she declared to be just perfect, once again the large pieces of oh so tender chicken tikka really hitting the spot. Great price, great food and with very welcoming, attentive staff we had an excellent dining experience. Most definitely returning here.

Warm welcome on arrival. Complicated large orders all delivered correct. Always on hand to replenish drinks. Fantastic food and service.

The worst curry we’ve ever had anywhere, insipid flavour, no heat or spice in both meals . When raised with a member of staff … he shrugged his shoulders & walked away. We’ll never be back !

Booked this restaurant as looked nice in photos, also had takeaway from there. Looked at menu on their website before booking so we knew in advance what we wanted. Prices looked good. So booked table for 3 @ 18.55, Saturday 29th May 21. Good decor, nice and clean. Staff nice and polite. Shown to our seats, given menu. Looked at menu and saw they were different to website menu. Sounds like someone taking advantage of the easing of lockdown and people wanting to go out to eat. Shame. Food was mediocre, nothing special.

Chicken tikka naan pizza is a revelation! The 3 people in my family who got to taste it were blown away! Try it!! The rest of our takeaway meal was also superb and what I thought would be sufficient for 2 people actually fed 3. The new delivery service is useful too.

Never going to use again. Ordered food at 4.10pm for 8.00pm paid nearly £50. Got to 8.45pm phoned told be there for 9.00pm. No food got to 9.20pm phoned again order been cancelled. Still waiting refund

Been twice in 12 days as it is a fantastic curry house. And booked again for next week. Every curry I have tried has been excellent. I like mine quite spicy and they have not disappointed. Staff friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this place. This place will be date night every month for the foreseeable.

Went today as a spur of the moment and with the eat out scheme in place. Firstly, the restaurant was laid out very well and covid conscious! Staff awesome! And food delicious... will be back for more as it was our first time here

Excellent. The owner really cares about the customers. The food is very tasty. And you get LOTS. The peshwari nans are extra tasty! If you are looking for a local that will serve you during the corona crazy - look no further. Please remember to tip. These guys are putting themselves at risk to keep us fed

We’ve been going to the Ashianna for 14 years and have never had a bad meal. Our latest visit was for a family meal. Once again the food, service and ambience was first class. We highly recommend the Ashianna.

I've eaten in Ashianna's before and enjoyed it but the takeaways just don't seem the same quality. This time I had to stop eating to pour water from my plate - really disappointing (see photo).

My wife & I visit this restaurant regularly. The quality of the food is always exceptional, the staff are friendly and efficient. The owner, Hussein, is extremely professional and always has a warm welcome for regulars and new customers alike. Give it a try.... You won't be disappointed!

Absolutely gorgeous food and service. Staff were so helpful with recommending dishes for my daughter.have to say probably the best Indian food we have had in a long time. We visited Ashiana last week everything from the moment we walked in and were greeted politely was amazing ! We had a very picky eater in our party and the owner/waiters couldn’t do enough to help us ! Food was amazing we really enjoyed our night and will definitely be back, it’s quite a journey from where we live but 100% worth it.

Awesome atmosphere and lovely staff food was lush (as always) .. and the cocktails are amazing I has strawberry daiquiri made with real strawberries .. the king prawn biriani was tasty and just the right amount of heat .. recomend the samosas for starter very good and not greasy

Myself, my wife, and many of our friends have been to ashiannas many many times, you wont find anything anywhere as welcoming and friendly, the food is 2nd to none, and the hospitality is 1st class, cant wait for our next visit.

The food here is some of the best Indian i have had. Service was friendly, nothing to much trouble, and did I mention the food was very good.

I’m a regular at Ashianna having gone for many years. The food is always delicious with some varieties of main dishes that makes this restaurant unique. The service in my opinion is always great. Hussain the owner is a welcoming host. Highly recommended

My husband & I regularly eat here & often have takeaways too . We have nearer restaurants & takeaways but are more than happy to travel further to come to this wonderful restaurant . The service and food are second to none . The staff are so helpful & friendly & we thoroughly enjoy eating here . I would recommend this restaurant to anyone .

Family run business. Friendly staff, a smart interior, well-stocked bar, contemporary menu, chilled out atmosphere and obviously very tasty food! My favourite items from the menu are the bilathi mirch (stuffed pepper) and special kebab (both starters). The owner has always been friendly, courteous and professional in the 5+ years we have been regular customers and we are welcomed back each time like an old friend.

Visit regularly and also get the Nanwich on takeaway which is the best takeaway option on the High Street. Food always excellent, service great, especially Ayesha and her bubbly personality. A great place to visit with good beer too.

Best Indian food around. Been here a lot both for takeaway and sit in meals. Staff always attentive, owner always welcoming. Never had a bad meal yet. Always flavoursome and fresh. Chicken tikka masala or dansak are my two favourites. Owner always takes constructive criticism on board and on the very rare occasion there has been a mistake, he’s always offered to rectify it there and then or do something special on our next visit, and when I say mistake I mean trivial such as a naan missing. Top Indian food, highly recommend!

Been to Ashianna a number of times. Tried a variety of dishes and always really enjoyed it. The recent refurbishment has lifted the whole place up a level and the staff are as attentive as ever. Will be back soon.

Myself friends & family have visited Ashianna for over 10 years and have NEVER had a bad experience .Fantastic food , the best Indian food my partner has had and he’s fussy .The restaurant is spacious and welcoming , the service -excellent.Fantastic recent decor refurb too.Staff are lovely , very friendly and chatty .The Owner / Manager has always made time to chat to us , explain anything on the menu and make sure everyone has a good evening .10/10.

I had a brilliant meal this evening at Ashianna! The korma was delicious, and I've never seen such beautiful cocktails. The staff was lovely. I would definitely go back!

Thank you Ashianna for another outstanding meal on Friday night. My only problem is that I now have so many favourites it’s difficult to decide which of my favourites to choose. Ashianna is one of the few Indians that I have tried where there are lots of individual tastes, the curries are not just thrown together, the spices are obviously blended with care and each dish has its own unique taste. We were again very well looked after and will be back to see you again very soon.

This used to be lovely. Now it is NOT!! The person who answers the phones is rude and arrogant. The missals is thinner than a tin of tomato soup watered down with a tin full of water. This seems a common review.

Worst Indians I’ve ever had, The sauce was so watery the rice became soggy, i would never go back and would not recommend to anyone.

First time we've had takeaway from here, it'll be the last too. My Madras was thinner than a tin of Heinz Mulligatawny soup, hardly any chicken in it. Chicken pakora was insipid and the paratha not great. Had a few decent meals in the restaurant so this was even more disappointing, would not recommend for takeaways. Fairly pricey too.

Ashiana is always a welcoming place to eat with a friendly atmosphere. The food is delicious and well presented and the service attentive. we can't fault it. The new more modern update is well designed but still has the ambiance of an Indian restaurant.

Ordered and eaten here many times and the food has always been of a good standard until tonight!

Absolutely love this place. Fab meal food is outstanding with flavours real Indian food fresh everytime.. Food friendly service and the front house waiter can't do enough for you.. My biryani was very watery leaving a puddle in the bottom of the plate, however my husbands lamb main course was delicious. We met a friend just before we went to eat who told us that the staff don’t see a penny of any tips left for them so I asked the person who brought our bill. They very quietly checked they couldn’t be overheard and told us this was right which is a total disgrace. We therefore didn’t leave a tip and would encourage others to do the same. I even asked the member of staff if there was a way I could get round this and slip them something but they seemed terrified and refused.

Visited with family for the first time last night. Very friendly service, several tables taken even at 7:30 pm on a Wed night. The food was standard prices (some specialties a little more) but with quite a few dishes I hadn't come across before (as well as the standard fare). I had a Borishal Achar Murgh - very tasty and just the right heat. Nans and rice, sides and poppadums and lots of choice. Rice portions are not large (but enough - just). Would be more than happy to go back and try some more. Indian beers on draft. All in all a good Indian restaurant.

Tried this place for the first time today and was not disappointed I have reviewed many places and this is on the top of my list right now service second to none atmosphere as you would expect from an Indian restaurant music tweeting away but enough of this the star of the show which is what we all are interested in is the food my starter lamb great but I wish there was a bit more my wife said her starter was also great my main new to me some chicken dish and it was fantastic if I could tell you the name I would but unfortunately I spend too long looking and even longer changing my mind to remember what it was my wife had Pathia and that too was lush we had spicy chips and these were recommended and believe me best I have had rice lush nan mint food overall fantastic give it a try and discover a hidden gem on a high street

Went on Saturday night, boked no problem with phone, we were suprised at how busy it was at 7pm. Nice pleasent rom and staff and the food was good, had better but had a lot worse too elsewhere. Will go back at some point.

We used to go regularly but haven't been for a while and it was still good. Monday to Thursday they do tapas and we decided at the last minute to try it. Not sure why they're calling it tapas - it's Thali surely? Regardless, it was good. Varied, just the right amount, really tasty and very good value. We had the meat one and the vegetarian one - it comes with a naan, rice, mint sauce, 6 small savoury dishes and a dessert. The meat one is £15, the vegetarian £12. With poppadoms, a pint of lager and a large glass of wine it came in at pennies over £40.

We had booked for Tapas night and enjoyed all this delicious food for only £15. Great service, will definitely return.

We booked a table for a Saturday night just after NewYear. The restaurant was very busy on arrival. Food and drinks were ordered without too much wait.

Went to Ahianna last night with my Dad and fiance, we'd had a couple of takeaways from there in the past which had been delicious and Dad had fancied a sit-in meal there as he'd liked the look of the restaurant.

Wow! Been dinning here for years and still the best cuisine I’ve had the pleasure of tasting and visiting.

Ate here on a Thursday evening with a few of the lads. Food as always was excellent and the service second to none especially from Ayesha, the owners (Hussein) daughter, what a personable, pleasant young woman she is! Highly recommended!

I have been to this restaurant over many years going back to when it first became Ashianna. Have always found the food to be consistently good, service pleasant and attentive. All in there isn’t much better sit down Indians around.

We went for a mid week dinner as part of our rotating wednesdays tea...never been there before so we were very pleasently surprised at the quality of the special menu. Service was excellent, timely and precise. We had Balti, one lamb and one chicken. Superb, the best we have had for a long time. Price was fair and resulted in a 10% tip, well deserved . Give it a go, your taste buds will thank you for ever!

Well, I booked a table at this restaurant as I read about the reviews on Tripadviser, So this is how my partner and our 2 Indian friends found our dining experience.

Prior to last night we had never visited the restaurant before, either to eat in or take away so we thought we would give the take away service a try. Oh dear me, it was awful.

We had not been here for some time, and had a delightful evening. The restaurant is immaculate, the service impeccable and the food as good as we remembered. Thanks to all!

Utilizamos Ashianna para llevar normalmente cada 2 a 4 semanas. Esta vez estamos comiendo con amigos. Comida para llevar es normalmente bastante bueno para calidad precio y cantidad. Esta fue la primera vez que estaría comiendo.

Comida deliciosa. Servicio agradable. Un ambiente muy relajado. La primera vez que he estado en mucho tiempo. Sin duda lo recomiendo. Tandoori de pollo estaba bien preparado. Tuve caliente chili naga también muy bueno. Precios razonables xx

Curry fácilmente el peor que he tenido en un restaurante indio. El plato no tenía especias o sabores y sabía muy fuertemente de la sal que se confirmó cuando uno de los otros comensales tenían un gusto muestra. Algunos de los otros platos parecía estar bien pero que pasará mucho tiempo antes de que vuelva.

I often hear people raving about Ashianna's but personally I'm not sure what the fuss is about. Perhaps it's those that visit the restaurant rather than get a takeaway...I've had a takeaway here on a couple of occasions and find that the food is often lukewarm on collection and the portion size is smaller than you would get most places. It might be that it's a smaller portion size on the Thursday special takeaway deal. If it is then this isn't clear, it states on the menu that it is in a medium sized container, however not sure if this is any different to normal.I also find the naan breads to be quite small. I think you get much better value for money and a much nicer curry at the Bedlington Tandoori, although the service there is not quite as good. The staff at Ashianna are always very quick and efficient.

Been open for years and some people rave about it, but personally I've never seen what the fuss is about.

We often visit Ashiannas and hadn't been for a while. Table was booked for a bank holiday Sunday. Staff attentive and friendly on entering.Food courses served at just the right intervals , no pressure to get you in and out. Food very tasty and portions just right.Well worth a visit

Just received home delivery of four different meals from Bombay Nights. Rice and source was very nice but they forgot to include the meat !!!.

I have eaten here several times however on this occasion the food did not meet the usual standard, my dupiaza just lacked flavour and my partners Baltic was mire like a masala both in colour and consistency with none of the normal vegetables you would expect in a balti dish......it is quite expensive too so I really expected better

So it's been a while since I've been to this restaurant for a meal like for a sit down meal but when I did go it was amazing. We do however use the takeaway service. I'm not a massive lover of inidian food mainly because of my zillion allergies and they all seem to be in Indian food. I know lucky me !! However this is one of 2 Indian restaurants that we use a lot it is consistently good food tasty good value. Staff are extremely helpful and quick. They are just brilliant whenever we have friends and family over we order from here as it's just up the street we collect it and it's usually ready within 30minutes to an hour.

Great food and service, great selection of menu. Excellent value for money and fantastic atmosphere. Right in the centre of bedlington town centre! 10/10.

Have eaten in this restaurant many times and always enjoyed the food ,however on this occasion the food was served barely warm. Hard to understand as at the time we were saved the restaurant was quiet .Don't think I'll be going back any time soon

Quite disappointed this evening in the standard of the food. Eaten here several times in the past and have always been impressed. Service was poor and food cold despite restaurant being quiet. Won't be dining here again

We have been patrons of Ashiana since they first opened. They have consistently provided excellent service and food which always delivers on taste. Some great dishes on offer and staff are great. Give them a try and you will not be disappointed.

Visited 30th November with my partner and the Grandparents, and left thoroughly impressed and satisfied. Starters arrived promptly, consisting of Sheek Kebab and Meat Samosas, both presented well and well cooked. We had 4 different mains, but a special mention has to go to the Chicken Shashlik, which was an immense platter of brilliantly cooked and seasoned Tikka, moist and lovingly marinated with a striking lemon flavour running through it. Topped off with generous-sized hot naans made this an excellent meal.Pricing wise for the quality of the meals can have no complaints and the service is extremely good, never felt rushed and polite throughout.

We went 5 of us for dinner. The place was busy enough, very brightly lit though and little atmosphere. We ordered meat samosas which were £4.95 for two tiny triangles, which honestly were exactly like the cheap frozen ones you buy 50 for a couple of pounds. Total rip-off. We also got the mixed kebabs meant to have pakora, looked like an onion Baji. When we queried we were curtly told off that it was a pakora. My main meal was meant to be a lemon, lamb spicy dish, it tasted bitter and totally overpowered with fennel or cardamom or something similar. None of us could eat it. My brother's dish was chicken and paneer. He ordered it on the bone, it came off the bone with large chunks of near raw onions and garlic. Again couldn't eat those. We mentioned our complaints to the waiter who didn't acknowledge them or do anything. I asked for the manager. When he came over instead of acknowledging and apologizing he disputed everything, told us we should have said something earlier and told us "that is how the food is served." We pressed the issue further and eventually got 10% off. An apology would have sufficed but his manner was just abrasive and rude. Expensive for what it is, bad customer service, you can find better in nearby places. Wouldn't go back.

Decided to eat here on a lads night out and chose the special menu. £13.99 for a starter (6 choices) main course (~15 choices) any rice and a side dish (share between 2) and naan (share between 2). Really excellent value as I'm a regular customer eating from the normal menu and the portion sizes were equivalent. So with a pint of cobra each worked out @ £17.50 per head and was cracking value, give it a try!

Visited with family and friends to celebrate an engagement, We landed at short notice on a Friday night but it was no problem. The dips and onion salad served with the poppadum's was a bit on the stringy side but very nice. The main courses though were superb. Meat in the curries good quality very tender and no chewy or grisly bits. Plenty of rice and the Nan breads are HUGE. Would recommend a couple share both a rice portion and a Nan bread. Will definitely visit again.

Hello - After not having visited for some time, I've been twice in the past month. Both times the meal has been lovely, and the staff efficient and helpful - they even tolerated (and gave no clues) when my companions thought it would be funny (it wasn't!) to hide to surprise me when I came back to the table. I would definitely go back.

We often come to the restaurant as we have never been disappointed and always get a flavoursome delicious meal served with great hospitality. We heard they had a special on tues and weds and went to give it a try because we always have the same sort of meal. This is a 5 course, starter (choose 1 from a choice); main meal (choose 1 from a choice); rice (1 from a choice) a side dish (choose 1 from a choice of 3) and an accompaniment which was various Naan. We had something different and wow, utterly delicious, all this for less than £36 for 2 people including drinks. Bargain, and the food was just as flavoursome as delicious as our usual choices. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed!!

Last night we had the most amazing indian meal. It was the special which they do every Tuesday and Wednesday, it was most certainly value for money and very varied also

Family night out at Ahianna's in Bedlington. A comprehensive menu, quick service, excellent food abd friendly, helpful staff. If you're looking for very good value for money Indian cuisine, I recommend this place!On the downside, maybe not the cosiest of decor, no high-chairs or kids' menu.
