Asha Indian Resaurant in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

The decor and furnishings are shabby and tired, which is a shame because they let down largely acceptable food and service. That said the pickle tray was one of the poorest we’ve tried but the main courses (dhansak and bhunas with rice and naans) were tasty and plentiful.

Id heard rumours this restaurant had been taken over and gone down hill but took no notice, wish i had. The food was terrible. Came out very quickly which you wouldn’t normally get at an Indian. The lamb dansak was disgusting, most of the meat was lumps of fat and very dry. The pilar rice was not traditional yellow and not much for the nearly £4 price tag. The chicken tikka mossala did not taste as it usually does. Pepsi was flat. The table cloth underneath the glass top was dirty with bits of food on it. The restaurant was shabby,seats uncomfortable (flat padding) and had no music playing or general ambience. £100 for and hour of “fine” dining, rip off Us locals wont be back sadly I don’t think recent positive reviews are genuine

Lovely meal, and the setting is peaceful and atmospheric. All of the staff are friendly and attentive, and we all loved the fish tank. You even have a chocolate at the end of the night. Would recommend 😊

Came here as a group of 8 for my daughters birthday on Sunday February 4th and will definitely be coming back again. Nice bright, clean open plan restaurant, with a beautiful marine fish tank in reception. We were led to our table by very polite, friendly staff, who promptly took drinks orders and gave us our menus. The food was absolutely superb, every one of us commented on how good it was. A wide variety of dishes was ordered by our group and everything was spot on.

Ashas provided a very professional dining experience from start to end. The table service was great, the smart decor and the low lighting, adds to the chilled enjoyable restaurant, giving it a very much up market feel. The staff are friendly, attentive and smartly dressed. Booking a table is essential as this place is popular! A good selection of Indian cuisine on the menu including vegetarian options. Disabled access is not possible here as Ashas is above the convenience shop, so a haul up 20 or so steps to access. They do offer a takeaway option, collected from the bar/counter area, a good separation distance from those sat in the restaurant. We have visited Ashas on numerous occasions and have heard that it is now under new management although we cannot confirm this, we have noticed a few new faces amongst the waiters and bar staff.

Good Anglo-Indian style curry; smaller menu than the average but the food portions were huge and tasty.

Wouldn't recommend says kids eat free then for one adult and two children get charged £88 pound queried it and they said kids below 7 my kids age 11+12 count as adults, the korma had a total of two bits of chicken in would not recommend or ever go near there again

Excellent, not sure what else to say! We had a range of dishes, king prawn, chicken mostly and they were all gorgeous. The “hotness” scale was realistic and matched my taste. The chick was tender, the sweetness optimal and the prawns big and juicy. As it happens, even the onion bhaji were E best I have had for many years if not ever! Lovely friendly staff also.

Large restaurant on first floor so need to climb a flight of stairs to get there. Staff were very friendly although when we went there, they were clearly short-staffed. Food took nearly an hour to arrive and was ok. All in all I think I went there on a bad day, but I wouldn’t rush back.

We’ve visited Falmouth so many times to dine out, but this is the first time we’ve visited Asha, and we had such a delicious meal. The restaurant decor is nice, and the tables are nicely spaced out, so you can have some privacy. Restaurant staff were very friendly and we were served quickly. The food was delicious, there was so much flavour in our curries, and portions were a good size too. My husband is super fussy about curry, as his father was brought up in India, so he was fed homemade curries from a young age, and he said his curry was delicious. We will definitely return next time we’re in the town…highly recommended!

Will not go here again. Food was excellent decor was nice and cosy but various waiters hassled us to order all our food in one go when we like to take our time and order as we go along. This did not go down well with us. Their loss we didn't leave a tip and they have lost our custom. Be warned!

There's good food to be had here, 4 of us really enjoyed our meals. It was very busy for a week night when we went, so food took a while to cook, worth the wait though, staff were great and would definitely return.

Had takeaway food from here. Everything was excellent. Onion Bhajis, chicken shashlick, lamb and chicken korai. The rice and nan bread were also really good. Will definitely use this place again when we are down here.

We've been visiting Asha for years and whilst the service is good it does lack the refinement that competitors offer and the same can be said for the food which is nice and what you'd expect but does no longer offer value for money at over £13 for a main course chicken dish for example before all of the extras are added. This is not a case of you get what you pay for & there is far better value to be found elsewhere but you may struggle to find that in Falmouth.We will return for celebratory meals where invited but no longer financialy viable for an impromptu midweek treat with the family with the rising prices.Clean & covid compliant.

After booking a week ago as a family we were very disappointed. We arrived on time however we were rushed through our meal. Initially a booking for 6 adults & 1 baby we were told would need to be allocated to separate tables just because the 7th person was a baby. We accepted & still booked the table. We ordered all our food as once again we were told everything needed to be ordered all in one go and we couldn’t wait to decent at each stage.Whilst I was still enjoying my popadoms I was rushed to move my side plate along for the starter plate I explained that I was still eating as it only had been 5 minutes if that. I was told by the “oh so you don’t want the plate oh you don’t need it” and he then walked away. The portion size for the “mixed grill” was the smallest ever so please be warned. Due to this another starter was ordered & we were warned only 15/20 mins of being seated our mains were ready. At this point another waiter came to talk to us who was rude and asked “do you want the food or not”. Which was extremely rude manner to speak in to paying customers. I explained why and how we were being rushed and he did not want to hear our opinion just his own. Food then was held off for 40 mins. We requested for a drinks menu 3 times however nobody came and nor was an additional order taken. Wish we had gone for the local fish & chips instead. Extremely rude customer service here and not the best tasting food either. I could have made better at home. Avoid.

I'm not sure why there are any negative comments left? I'm local and every time I've been the food is excellent (and service too) and you could wish for a more attentive and knowledgeable manager. This restaurant is 100% recommended (it's the only eat in place in Falmouth I'd have the confidence to take my mates)

We have been going to Asha for a long time. The food is always amazing; piping hot and extremely tasty. The service is always top notch too.

Me and my husband visited Asha in July 2020 - the restaurant completely adhered to social distancing and we felt very safe whilst dining. The food was exceptional - I'm a vegan and I was advised that most meals can be changed to vegan and I was also recommended some vegan options which was lovely. My husband had the chicken tikka Madras which he said was the best curry he's ever had (and he's had a lot!). It was our first time visiting Falmouth but we'll be back and definitely be visiting Asha

After the loosening of lockdown myself, my wife and daughter took our first tentative steps back into the real world and decided on a meal out. Whilst a bit apprehensive we decided on the Asha due to the positive things we had heard and after a short conversation with Islam to book a table I was reassured that all the Covid guidelines had been put into place. As soon as we got there we realized we'd made the right choice. The welcome was as warm as ever, the tables were fantastically laid out leaving plenty of space for social distancing and the engraved plastic dividers between tables is a nice touch. All the staff are wearing masks and gloves which although odd you soon get used to it, it is the "new normal" after all. Onto the food which is obviously the reason any of us go out to eat. It was as always exceptional, everything was cooked to perfection and after three months of knocking up decent curries at home it showed how far I still have to go. To finish it was brilliant, safe and delicious. We will be back again very soon.

Not Great. Restaurant was empty, told we should’ve booked. The staff let us in but told us we had to finish by 9pm as they were closing. They then let a large party in at 2020. The ambience was poor and it felt very uncomfortable. The food had no salt and was incredibly bland and was some of the poorest Indian food I have ever eaten. The Garlic chicken was like a tomato pasta sauce with peppers! It had no spice or garlic!!! Onion Bhaji was bland as was the garlic naan. This meal cried out for seasoning and flavour. My advice would be to walk a few more steps and head to Dominos. I had an exceptional curry the night before for the same price. Poor quality Indian food at over inflated prices!

Delicious takeaway curry! Arrived promptly and piping hot! This was a last minute decision for our family and I’m so glad we chose this place. Would definitely recommend.

We had 4 different dishes (king prawn, chicken, vegetable and lamb) delivered out to Mawnan Smith. All were excellent, the best we’ve had in this area and we have really tried them all. My favourite was the naga garlic chicken: richly spiced, great pieces of chicken and perfect consistency with no excess ghee. Ordering was simple by email and turned up exactly at the agreed time with a really friendly delivery driver.We will definitely be ordering again.

Visited with friends who live locally and were glad with their choice. Service was excellent especially as the restaurant was extremely busy. Thought that the food was very tasty and my lamb was as good as I have had. Will visit again, for sure.

First time visiting and have to say I was very impressed. The service was swift and efficient, not pushy but attentive enough. The staff were friendly and seemed happy in their work.The food was very good. Tasty, well presented and packed full of flavour. I had a Lamb dish that was tender and delicious and my parter enjoyed a Garlic Chicken dish which I also tasted and it was just as yummy. The menu covered a wide range of choices and was very reasonably priced.I would definitely recommend it for a try and I will certainly go back again.Great Job!

We arrived midweek and there were hardly any other people. We waited over ten minutes to order drinks and a further ten to order our food. I asked for extra ginger in my curry and was told there could be an extra charge, for a few strands of ginger, really? The curry was pretty tasteless, it was very watery. I had a lamb jalfreizi and I could hardly taste any spice. I won’t be returning.

I popped in and was seated within a few minutes, noting this was just a walk in and no booking. There was a large group on a works night out on the adjacent table. The staff had their hands full servicing them, but did a good job. I wasn't going to be a casultly of them been so busy, so I made myself known at the bar, where I spoke to the owner, a great guy who listened to my feedback. From that point onwards.... the service was faultless from the initial delay of taking my order.Food great and spices shined through. Would recommend this place to anyone. But prepared to wait if busy, like every other place. 9/10

Have coming to Asha a few times over a 15 yr period whenever we were on Falmouth and was always totally happy with the food the welcome the service.Visited to nite and have to say that things are not what they used to be. The menu has been simplified and is totally uninspiring. The service was just about acceptable without any personality. The starter of sheet kebab was the smallest I’ve ever been served and the Lamb Parthia lacked any chilli bite.Overall a very poor offering without a great deal of real interest from the staff. I sense that there has been a change of ownership here.

Love this restaurant. I live in Scotland but go to Falmouth 4 times a year and always make a point of going to this restaurant. The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly. Would highly recommend a visit once you’ve been once you will go again and again

We visited here last night and had the Shashlik. The chicken was so cheap tasting and flavourless. It was meant to be marinated but we all agreed that it was just red coloured dry chunks of watery stuff served on a bed of onions.

First time and good impressions. Clean establishment and friendly and attentive staff. The menu warns if a meal is hot, medium or sweet. Take note. I chose a medium lamb dish which was a little too bland. Overall though good quality food.

We are on holiday from NZ and this meal was very good and very different from many Indian dishes. Actually the business is owned by a Bangladesh family. The service levels were the best we have experienced in UK. Well done Brian

Thank you so much to the Asha team for making my fiancé’s birthday so special. This is quality Indian cuisine served by a great team where nothing seemed too much trouble. The dishes are very individual and obviously prepared to order and the food stood head and shoulders above the average ‘curry house’.

This restaurant is by far the best in the west. Food and service 1st class. We’ve been visiting this restaurant for the last 20 odd years and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

This is the best curry house in Falmouth. All bases are freshly cooked with fresh ingredients and not swimming in ghee as some places can be. I am a huge fan of Indian food and used to live in east London and eat at places solely aimed at the local population, this is as close as you can get to the real deal. Top marks from me you won't be disappointed.

Lovely food, great friendly service, nice restaurant, in my view the best Indian in Falmouth. Should be in the top 15 i think.

We were served a really nice Indian meal, made surprisingly quickly and tasting delicious. The staff were attentive and very efficient. We only had two small gripes. First, we hadn't booked but, as the restaurant was nearly empty, I didn't think it would be a problem. The waiter made out like he was doing us a real favour squeezing us in. In fact, even when we left there were just two or three other tables occupied. Second, we had to pay for the chutneys that came with the poppadoms. Why not just make the poppadoms more expensive and include the price of the chutneys in with the cost? It seemed really mean and money-grabbing to add £2.50 to the bill to cover the chutneys. Other than those two problems, this was a really nice restaurant with lovely modern decor.

This is a decent Indian. Cornwall is not known for good curry, but this was is more than passable. Lovely restaurant as well, good for families, couples and groups of mates.

This is my favourite place to go out to eat. The atmosphere is welcoming, relaxing & cosy with great music (at the right level to have a conversation with your friends), there's also a fantastic aquarium! Asha alway give a wonderful, friendly service and the restaurant is very fairly priced for the high quality of food.

Always a warm friendly welcome! Wide food choice including vegetarian and even vegan options so Asha will cater well for groups. Always had good portions as well. Not used the take away but seems very popular.

Can't believe the sudden change? Very small portions! Served butter chicken but used Korma sauce? Come on what is this why try and fool your customer should be very very careful it's been well published about food allergies! Very small slivers of chicken in all four of our dishes used this restaurant a lot over the years but sadly no more, alarm bells rang on last visit but it it down to a bad day.

Last night I went to Asha restaurant on a recommendation from a friend, the venue is fairly standard dim lights Indian music and a fine selection of fish in the fish tank.

I was very disappointed,we were recommended this restaurant by several people,on arrival at 10.10pm we were asked if we were aware of the time they closed (yes 11pm)and the point was??Great service,but felt like we were just pushed in a corner in a very large,at that time practically empty restaurant.Never ever have I been to an Indian restaurant,where you have to pay for the chutney pickles etc.The food arrived but was barley warm,the lamb wasn’t cooked enough and just found it all very bland.They do have a nice fish tank though.Wasnt too keen on the background music either a bit too technic.

Los langostinos en el primer plato de langostinos estaban rezagados en una pesada salsa amarga y el Main, una patia, era muy dulce y tenía muy poca carne. El servicio no era bueno y trataron de cobrar por el plato de gambas que envié prácticamente intacto. Es una pena que ya no parezca un auténtico restaurante indio en Falmouth, ya que The Ghurka, que siempre fue confiable, cambió de manos. Le dimos a este lugar una segunda oportunidad pero nunca más.

My husband and I visited Falmouth and called into Asha for dinner as we love Indian food . The restaurant is nice and spacious and the service was good. The food, however, was disappointing. I have never eaten a curry that was so lacking in spice and flavour. We thought it wasnt good value for the meal that was served.
