Lovely place, nice interior and plenty of space to sit outside with cute lighting in the evening. Nice menu with a reasonable amount of choice and a cocktail list too. We enjoyed baked Camembert to start followed by some Tapas dishes and a burger. All the food was stunning. The lady who served us was welcoming, friendly and attentive. She wiped down a table and chairs for us to sit outside (the table was already clean and would have been fine to sit on so this was a nice touch!) and then took the time to explain some cocktails to us and answer any questions we had about the food. Seems like a perfectly good choice in Bridgwater, definitely worth a visit. They deserve to be much busier, it was fairly quiet when we visited.

You wouldn't recognise the menu from the reviews and their website. We went on a Thursday, looking forward to the steak deal. They don't do that anymore, it is basically just a choice of different burgers with toppings. How can you charge £2.45 extra for a cheeseburger than a classic burger!!!! The food we ate was fine but not what we were expecting based on the reviews and website. The website also takes you to a link to reserve a table, when you follow the link, the website says that restaurant isn't on that website!

Tasty food cooked in a Mediterranean style and served by friendly staff. One of the best eating spots in Bridgwater. Don’t be put off by its strange location.

A friendly and accommodating approach from helpful professional staff. Dinner and drinks very reasonably priced. If you like a G&T, the Gentleman’s is made with Tanqueray Ten, grapefruit peel and a few cloves using fever tree tonics so no skimping on top quality and a sublime blend of flavour and aromas. Give it a try midweek when it is quieter. Simply delicious, fresh bread balsamic and olive oil gratuitous appetiser, Tapas, mussels, burgers and steaks, ice cream, cheesecake, large scotch everyone happy.

The food was excellent and staff were friendly and welcoming. It was reasonably priced and looking forward to visiting again.

Wow! Absolutely superb food. Between us we had duck, fish and steak, and all we're cooked to absolute perfection. Remembering this venue from 20 years ago, with it's sticky carpets meant I was slightly apprehensive about this reservation but what a transformation! Lovely, cosy atmospheric restaurant. We will definitely return here to sample more of the menu.

The food here was impeccable. My partner had the duck and it was so lovely and tender. We had some tapas bits and they were also to die for. The service was amazing too. This really is a hidden gem, with a free car park just around the corner.

Fantastic evening - service was amazing. Very friendly and lovely ambience with gentle music. We opted for tapas and it was perfect with plenty of choice and huge portions - To top of our perfect evening the cocktails were amazing. We had a brilliant night - 6 of us and would definitely return.

Dreadful service, our table wasn’t ready for us when we arrived , had to wait 45 minutes to be seated, even though we had booked .7pm on a Saturday , and only one other table seated . Over priced poor quality food , the waiter started to clear our table before we had all finished eating, and continued to do so even when asked to stop. Certainly would not return.

My first visit with friends to this restaurant. Good food, nice wine, lovely staff. Worth a visit. I would be happy to return again.

I went here for the first time with my daughter. The staff were lovely and very welcoming. The food was amazing. We had a few tapas dishes and you could tell that they were home made and a very good selection. The menu is very large and there is something for everyone. There are pub favourites (lunchtimes) and more fancy food for evenings. I will definitely be returning!!

7 of us came for dinner on Weds night - we were the only table in there, 5 of us ordered burgers, one seabass and one lamb rump It took 45minutes for food to come out - the £26 lamb was cold and so was sent back The blue cheese burger had a spoonful of freezing cold cream cheese on it We had to ask three times for a jug of water before eventually going up to the bar to get it Waiter started taking plates away while people were still eating, despite the fact it took nearly an hour for food to come out then they were rushing us to leave Dire service all round

We’ve been here many times and have only experienced the very best service. The steaks are amazing and I’ve tried a lot of places around the country and honestly Alex and Lukas (the chef) does it best. Also their grilled vegetables and the Portuguese wine. Thanks Alex for keeping this restaurant open through these hard economic times

I visited here with my friend last night and the food was delicious. I had the crab starter and lamb main which were both excellent. I am surprised the restaurant wasn’t more busy on a Saturday night but I think the restaurant maybe needs to do more advertising etc. The food is abit more expensive than standard pub food however I would definitely say the quality matches the price and would recommend to anyone.

Can't believe we've only just discovered this place! if you love good food, an interesting and exciting menu, friendly accommodating staff and a nice venue The Artichoke Gastropub is going to be right up your street. All of our food our party of 4 ordered was outstanding, but the Octopus (off the starter menu), Meatballs from the Tapas selection and the flat iron Steak were worthy of an extra sp3exisl mention, absolutely delicious. Can't wait for our next visit.

Sadly this business had its fine dining chef pinched by a competitor but we were delighted by the personal service and warmth of the family running it. They are doing a great job in challenging circumstances and produced excellent tapas and home made pizzas. Highly recommended.

I booked a table for myself and 5 friends for an evening. This was going to be a nice, relaxing meal for a catch-up. However, it quickly turned into something none of us could have foreseen. We didn't just have a meal at Artichoke Gastropub - We had an entire experience! From the moment I walked in, I (and the rest of my party) was treated with the level of service you expect from top class restaurants. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and despite having other tables, we were meant to feel as if we were the only people dining that night! The drinks order was taken once we had all arrived and had chance to look, our questions answered with total honesty (one question was asked, which the server wasn't sure of the answer. Rather than give us some rubbish just to provide an answer, they went to find out and came with a definitive answer). The drinks were served swiftly, and were perfect. We ordered our starters - opting for 3 dishes between the 6 of us. Once they realised what we were doing, they served us 6 of everything, so we could all enjoy. We were left in peace to eat, without being hounded like I have been at some places, yet we knew if we needed anything the front of house would be instantly there. Before our starters were served, we were given an amuse-bouche, which was fantastic! The starters - as mentioned - was served so there was enough for everyone, despite only half of us ordering. Then came the mains! Three people went for burgers - with different degrees of ordering. Plain, part garnish, and full. Each persons order was accommodated perfectly. I had the steak, cooked to my preference. The other two dishes were the lamb, and the risotto. Both were more than pleased with their choices. We decided to have dessert, then we went inside to enjoy cocktails. Their cocktail selection is out of this world, and highly recommended to finish your evening off! Once again, at all stages, we were meant to feel so welcome and cared for by the staff, and the food was exceptional. I shall be back!

Stumbled across this gem while on a weekend away with the other half. We were staying in the nearby Mercure Hotel for the bank holiday weekend and found this place while exploring the local town. Booked a table in the beautiful outside seated area for the following evening and explained my partner's dietary needs (gluten free). The chef came out and discussed this with her and this was extremely helpful. The place had only been reopened for a few days and now looks totally different to the old restaurant (pub grub). It now has a modern garden area that is well furnished and has a stylish decor inside. Menu now offers Gastro/fine dining menu at an extremely generous price. My partner has eaten in a few Michelin star restaurants and she said this was the best meal she had ever had. Food was beautifully presented and impeccably cooked. We would highly recommend the ox tongue starter and the garlic risotto side. Ate at the Marco Pierre White restaurant the night before (as part of our hotel stay) and the food here was lovely, but the food, quality of service, and extra touches made by the Artichoke Gastro pubs staff blew us away and blew the MPW experience out of the water. We would highly recommend!

Went to Artichoke for my partners birthday, first time visiting. Blown away by the every single element. Pricing is reflects the quality of the dishes and more. Would recommend to anyone who wants to treat themselves to a top quality gastro experience... the staff were fantastic too!

My wife and I weren’t sure where to go for lunch when visiting Bridgwater last weekend when we stumbled across The Artichoke, have to say it was fantastic, the food was great and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Hopefully they will hit it...
