Aromas Tandoori Restaurant in Newham

The aroma coming from aroma enticed us in. We knew we had to try it, no joke. Food took time to prepare but was worth the wait, we Ordered mixed grill , grilled fish, salad and nan. Chef has definitely years of experience and customer service was outstanding, food was amazing.

Amazing flavours. We had the lamb jalfrezi and chicken tikka masala. The garlic naan bread is really fresh. The poppadom sauce are not the best but that’s the only negative

THE TAKEAWAY WAS THE WORST FOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN. QUALITY OF FOOD WAS TERRIBLE. THE RICE SENT WAS NOT FRESH, OVERCOOKED, POTENTIALLY REHEATED & SMELLED OFF. RICE IS THE MOST DANGEROUS FOOD IN THE KITCHEN CONTAINING PATHOGENS BACILLUS CEREUS & STAPHYLOCOCCUS AURES AND CAN'T BE KILLED BY REHEATING. THE ROGAN JOSH WAS SO HOT WITH CHILLI POWDER IT WAS INEDIBLE & VERY DISAPPOINTING. NEEDS A HEALTH INSPECTION REVIEW.

Everything was very tasty, good portion size really enjoyed most of my meal. I will definitely order from here again. the only criticism is that the potatoes in Bombay potato were undercooked.

I went there yesterday and I am very much pleased with the nice behaviour of the staff. They are polite and nice. Coming to the food, we ordered chicken momo, butter naan, prawn rice and lamb Rogan Josh. All the food was top notch. The taste of the food was really good. I am a momo lover 😍😍😍 this momo was perfect. I just love it. The prawn fried rice was also perfect but I felt like it lacks little salt as to me, it was without salt 🙃🙃🙃 butter naan was as usual good. Lamb Rogan Josh was perfect I tried for the first time. This was really good. The ambience was nice. With Arijit Singh's songs in background, it was perfect. Enjoyed the food. Will come again to try something else. If anyone looking for a good restaurant near forest gate station, they can try this one.

Had a very well prepared and tasty meal in a quiet friendly atmosphere. I caught up with a friend that I had not seen for over 30 years. We stayed over long after paying the bill and were not hurried into leaving, thank you.

Outstanding. One of my regular places to order from. Chick momos, Timur lamb are highlights, but the entire menu is worth exploring.

Fantastic local restaurant. They do both Indian and Nepalese dishes. Very nice staff. The wine was good. Great selection of dips with the poppadoms. We had Chilli Paneer and it was proper spicy. Lovely butter roti. All the food was excellent. Great value for money. Highly recommend!

5 star food experience at Aromas. This place transports you to Nepal with flavour sensational curries, breads, rices and other Asian delights. The food is some of the best I’ve ever eaten. Don’t be fooled by the appearance. The staff are so friendly and the regulars are filling up seats!! A big sign this place is quality. Stick to the chefs specials they are unreal.

Wow what a treat this place is. A lot of places these days look the part but fail to deliver on flavour and authenticity. This places hits both parts hard. Don’t be fooled by its basic appearance, out back they have a chef that’s cooking up a storm straight outta Nepal. Ignore the basic classic Indian dishes that are served up to pissed up night owls in FG and hit the mutton rara and jeera rice….. basically stick to all the chef’s specials and you will go no wrong here. Service is easy and the drinks including the phenomenal Gerkha Beer served giant style are legit. Make no mistake Aromas is the real deal when it comes to Nepalese food. Ohhh and ask for the sweet ball things for dessert, just enough sugar to satisfy but not make you do anything silly. Love it x

Great food run by lovely people

Excellent restaurant with excellent people. We were in London for a few days and we went almost every night to have dinner at Aromas. The food is incredible and the people working there is very kind. If someday we go back to London, we’ll be back at Aromas for sure!!!!

What a wonderful restaurant, come with two friends that are wheel chair users. Aromas happily accommodated us, got served very quickly and the food was delicious 😋, definitely go back again.

Went for a family celebration. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Food is delicious, I would highly recommend the mixed grill. Also plenty options for anyone who is vegan. Great value for money.

Visited with friends today night after a recommendation. First of all what a lovely intimate , authentic Nepalese restaurant. Family run with a genuine warmth and welcome. The Food was extremely tasty 😋 lamb chops are my favorite 😍 here from now on.. I will definitely recommend 👌

Went in there with my husband today, who is in a wheelchair and was made to feel humiliated, and discriminated. the stuff were so rude and lied to us about the oven being broken, even do they had the door open and the open sign up. My husband asked if it was because he was in a wheelchair and the lady would not look at or answer him or me when I asked, so we went around the corner and phoned as something did not seem right, with how they were asking and I could book a table no problem then when we went back, the lady was rude, acting like they had just fixed the over in the 5 minutes we had left. Then when we called her out on her clear discrimination, she was like "well um I could not understand you, when she had just spoken to me on the phone and in the restaurant. I have been to this restaurant many times but I will never be going back.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD WITH A RESTAURANT! Ordered a delivery from this restaurant and they were already 40 minutes late. Once the driver rung me to try find out where the flat was I tried to explain the directions of the flat which were already sent to him. He started shouting at me down the phone saying that he was going to leave my food outside and go back to restaurant. I then rung the restaurant and they said they cannot refund me and there isnt anything they can do. Highly unprofessional and rude people.

You must try this place if you want to taste Indian-style curries🤌 And I loved the fact they serve freshly handmade naans(in tandoor which is quite rare in London) and parathas ❤️ I highly recommend it and it's not that expensive also. I had a meal for two in about 30 pounds. And the best part is, it is located alongside Forest Gate train station 🤌🤌🥂🥂 I just can't stop recommending this place.

We came here after a trip to Clapton CFC with family members. I'm always looking for a good Indian restaurant or in this case, Nepalese (some dishes very similar to Northern Indian in my experience though for all I know they are Nepalese in origin) and am often disappointed but not this time! Food, we all agreed (2 vegetarians and two non-vegetarians), was absolutely delicious and cooked and served with real skill and care. Good value too. What an unexpected lovely find - we will be back with friends in the future and not just after the football. Well worth the trip.

Missing poppadom & an unwanted raita was delivered instead of the veg curry part of the biryani which was missing, £1.40 for a single poppadom was crazy, the food that did arrive and was ordered was tasty 😶

We visited Aromas on the recommendation of a friend who lives locally and what a recommendation it was! I have eaten in some of the most famous Indian restaurants in London, including ones with Michelin stars and I hands down would say that the food at aromas beats them all! We had a mixture of dishes with our favourites being the lamb chops (far better than anything I have ever had before) and also the honey chicken tikka you just have to try that! The staff are extremely friendly and very welcoming. This place really is a hidden gem and we will be visiting Forest Gate a lot more now we have found this place! It is also very reasonably priced we ordered a number of dishes and the bill was under £60. If you love Indian food then you must visit Aromas.

This was our first visit to the restaurant. The food was very enjoyable, mostly Indian but with additional Nepalese dishes. We had meat courses but the vegetarian choice is one of the largest I have seen on a menu. Very enjoyable, will definitely be visiting again.

Food arrived hot and on time, Daal was flavourful, baigan tasted slightly sweet and also seasoning was muted in flavour compared to everything else. We always enjoy the food from here so overall was a good experience.

Dont bother ordering for collection or delivery from here because they wont make your food. They will confirm the order, tell you the food is ready and then refuse to make or give you the food you have paid for. Apparently it is not the restaurants responsibility to prepare an order they have confirmed themselves it is the customers. The only reason given as to why my food couldnt be made was ‘they dont have a laptop’

A fine dine in with variety of quality Indian and Pakistani food. The roti and curry was so fresh and tasty. Staff is very pleasant and helpful.

My daughter and I had Timur lamb, honey wala with chicken, Masala, pilau rice and butter roti. Everything was finger-licking good. thank you, Chef and thank you to the lovely man who served us. God bless

Best butter chicken ive ever had

The comments already posted seem pretty accurate; good quality food and service at a fair price, but atmosphere a tad lacking.One of my party said the prawn puri was lacking in taste, but everything else fine. My vegetable jalfrezi was great, as was my garlic naan. Helpful waitress. However, no coffee available at conclusion of the meal, which seemed a bit strange to me, even though an offer of an instant coffee was made, but politely declined. All in all, a pleasant experience, and would return. My friends have been here numerous times before.

We ate vegan as my friend is vegan and we wanted to share dishes. Delicious onion bhaji, main dishes were superb. We parked outside and they placed us by the window so we could watch out for traffic wardens! Service was excellent and all for under £50 for 2 of us. We will be back!

Wow, all the way from Leeds to stay with some friends 'round the corner and discovered this little gem. Having eaten in many, many high to budget end curry places over the years this ranks near the top. Outstanding food, not heavily spiced or drowning in salt. Good vegan range (my meat scoffing friends were equally happy). And London prices not in sight, and coming from Yorkshire this made me even happier. Heartily recommended. Oh and friendly staff and great service. Meal for three + starters.

I ate pallak lamb with three rotis and dahi, washing it down with a large cobra. As usual food was excellent, tasty, well prepared and authentically Nepalese, service welcoming and professional. I’d recommend turning up and checking the specials boards. The timur lamb is a big favourite. Vegetarians might try the chana chaat.

I’ve recently moved to Forest Gate and had heard from friends about how good this place is. We finally went last night. What a great restaurant. The best curry I’ve had in a long time. Will be returning, many times.

Fresh, fragrant, full of flavour.

Have been coming here for years and thought would return after some time. Biryani was nice and plentiful but made the mistake of requesting standard yoghurt to soothe the spicyness -we have done this countless times and never been charged, as it's never been chargeable- just a bit of tasteless yoghurt. However, today the bill came and we were shocked to read £9 for two small bits of yoghurt- who charges this much for yoghurt we wondered?! We returned to clarify and discovered that one menu states the biryani is served with raita- we had requested yoghurt minus cucumbers- after some confusion we gave up trying to explain. The staff have always been lovely and it must be that things were lost in communication- However, we left feeling sad and a litle deceived today and wondered if Aromas had been a little sneaky with us- subsequently we left with a bad taste in our mouths and not just from the yoghurt.. unlikley we will return anytime soon which we also felt sad about as this place has served up some good food for us over the years.

Excellent service and even better food - can’t recommend thus simple looking establishment enough. Give it a try - you’ll never go anywhere else locally.
