For the price, I didn't think the size was worth it. I was also surprised to pay for the bill when I ordered my food, when I saw other tables pay at the end. This bill also had an added 12.5% service charge, when I had yet to receive much service.

Azim, Arjun, Afifa, and Yasmin were absolutely delightful and wonderfully hospitable. Do pay them a visit whenever you have the chance. Thank you, team—you’re amazing!

Roti Jala, a Malaysian net crepe eaten during tea time with curry/dhal. The only thing nice at Cafe Rasa. It was actually very nice and similar to an English shrove Tuesday pancake. The dal curry was the best I've had as there were onions and other herbs which made it tasty yet not spicy. I feel that butter chicken would be a good pairing because Malay curry is too spicy and coconutty. I also dipped it in custard and it was delicious.

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant today. Not only did I find hair in my food, but the service was absolutely disrespectful. When I pointed out the issue with the hair, the staff didn’t seem to care and handled the situation with complete indifference, she said “okay, we need the table for other customers anyway”. To make matters worse, when I asked to speak with a manager, the staff member that I was speaking to said “I am the manager, speak to me” in a rude tone. The staff seemed uninterested in resolving the issue, and I left feeling very disrespected. I expect much better hygiene and customer service from any restaurant. I will not be returning and do not recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean and pleasant dining experience.

What can I say. Cannot fault our time at Rasa Malaysia. We arrived late afternoon, about 4:40pm, after enquiring and being informed that they close at 6pm on Sundays and take last orders until 5:30pm. It was starting to quieten down, so we had no problem being seated. The waiter and counter staff were super efficient, very friendly, and attentive, which we appreciated after a long day on our feet. The food was served promptly, and it was nice and warm without being piping hot. We weren't very hungry so just opted for the roti canai (served with dahl curry). I ordered two roti's. My partner ordered the roti canai, but with the chicken curry as a side. She had hers as takeaway. I finished mine whilst seated. It was so flavourful and yummy, so impressed. We haven't been to Rasa in a very long time as we don't live in London, so we only come to Westfields Stratford on the odd occasion. My son just had a roti as he absolutely loves rotis and chapatis. He gave his roti a 10.5 out of 10. He was impressed. I rate my little meal an 8.8 out of 10. The 1.2 missing was twofold (not a huge problem), I do prefer my rotis to be the traditional round shape and not square. Though it was huge, the shape just didn't do it for me. I guess I am a traditionalist. Secondly, the rotis were a bit overcooked...a bit too crispy. I remember the last time we ate here, and I recall the shape wasn't square, and it was prepared a little lighter, so a bit doughy (only slightly), which meant it was softer and fluffier. Today, it was not quite to my exact taste, but I suppose others may prefer it this way. Comes down to personal taste. Overall, I am quite happy with the money spent at Rasa and certainly would recommend Rasa Malaysia 🇲🇾 to others whose palete yearns for some wholesome Malaysian inspired street food. You won't be disappointed. Next time we are in the area, we will try other items on the menu...there is quite a lot to choose from and it all looks delicious.

Nice food, quite a small place. The lady serving didn't tell me that she was adding 12% service charge so feel free to ask before you pay as you don't have to pay service charge. Food was nice and the kids portion was just about right.

Normally, I love rasa sayang. I always go here when I visit Westfield. However, today I wasn’t a fan. I ordered for takeaway since it was late. The banana and roti canai had barely any chocolate or banana. It was most just canai. The noodles I got for my little brother were empty. Barely full and not much in it. I was disappointed with my visit today. Usually this place is amazing. Maybe it was just an off day.

I visited this restaurant for the first time and wasn’t familiar with the menu, but the experience was incredibly pleasant thanks to the excellent service. Vaishnavi, my server, patiently explained and recommended dishes I really enjoyed. A special shout-out to the chef, Darwish, for preparing such flavourful dishes. This combination of attentive service and amazing food makes me want to come back soon.

I am a Malaysian travelling to UK. For 2 years straight, my friend and I would go to Rasa to get aunthentic Malaysian food or if we miss home. This place is definitely our go to and we would not look for other place. The staffs are really friendly and nice. We felt just right at home everytime we come here. Food-wise, it is definitely authentic. Portion is big and price is reasonable. If you go here, try their Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken. It’s so darn good. And cassava cake for dessert. Teh tarik too tastes like home. Recommended!

A Disappointing Experience – Not Worth Your Time or Money I recently dined at Rasa Malaysia Westfield shopping center in Stratford, London, and I must say it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. As someone who has traveled extensively in Malaysia and is very familiar with authentic Malaysian flavors, I had high expectations, but sadly, this eatery fell short on every front. The food was utterly tasteless and lacked the bold and vibrant flavors synonymous with Malaysian cuisine. To make matters worse, the portion sizes were ridiculously small – certainly not worth the prices they charge. Adding insult to injury, they tack on an additional 12.5% service charge to the bill, which is completely unjustified given the subpar quality of both the food and the service. The entire experience left me dismayed and dissatisfied. If you’re looking for a genuine Malaysian culinary experience, this is not the place to find it. Save your time, money, and appetite for a restaurant that actually delivers on its promises. I strongly recommend giving this place a miss.

I had a great dine-in experience at Rasa on my first visit—staff were friendly, and the food was good. However, my second visit for takeaway left me very disappointed. I arrived to pick up my order, and since my bags were heavy, I noticed several empty tables and decided to sit and wait. One staff member asked me to vacate the seat for dine-in customers, which I did. But when I moved to another empty table, the same staff member asked me again to give up my seat for another dine-in guest. It felt like takeaway customers were being treated as second-class citizens. There was no assistance offered, and the focus seemed solely on dine-in customers. I understand that dine-in customers may require more attention, but the lack of care or acknowledgment for takeaway customers was frustrating. I hope this is not the standard practice at Rasa, as I was really disappointed by this experience. Takeaway customers deserve the same level of courtesy and service as dine-in guests.

The curry laksa was good, the char kuey teow could be better. Nasi lemak ayam goreng and rendang were excellent :)) Curry puff was good too, curry fish was alright. Pisang goreng was also okay for UK standards. Thanks Dee and Nahid!

I've make the right judge before I taste it.. Remove Mee Mamak from you menu if you don't have enough time to cook it well. It tastes like instant noodles without well cook. Jangan buat kita orang malu! Kuih juga! All food are cooked in rush!

Nice little restaurant with a nice variety of Malaysian food,

I recently dined at this restaurant and, the food was ok, the overall experience was disappointing due to the unprofessional behaviour of the staff. We ordered our food and finished it in about 20 minutes, as we had an appointment but even while we were still eating, the staff began clearing things from the table. They also stood nearby in a way that made us feel rushed, as if they wanted us to leave quickly. It’s frustrating to feel pressured like this during a meal, especially when part of dining out is about relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. I hope the management will consider training the staff to be more courteous and allow guests to enjoy their time at the table without feeling hurried.

Firstly me and my partner really liked (notice the past tense) this restaurant. However today I got served a half raw roti, when I complained and asked for it to be cooked further or replaced they took the roti from my plate, then replaced it, still very raw, so I had a barely eaten fish curry left and nothing to eat it with. At this point I could see the chefs looking at me and laughing and I felt quite fed up with the situation and just asked for a refund (as this cafe has a weird policy where you get table service but still have to pay up front). I was refused a refund, so I requested an exchange of two drinks, they said that is too valuable, and that I took too long to complain and said it had been 19 minutes, I’m not even sure which time frame she was referring to, as the food all came at very different times. The manager after refusing me the two drinks said that actually this is the way roti is served, (doughy and raw). As I’m 3/4s Pakistani and my partner is both a chef and 1/2 Malay, we are both knowledgable of food such as roti, paratha, naan etc.. we know that roti should be golden and flaky not pale, and doughy. So I did not accept this answer, and instead said please, I can’t eat this, I like your restaurant but if you can’t even give me two drinks in exchange for a meal that I have not been able to eat much of, then I can’t come again and I’m leaving very unhappy, and she just said I’m being fair and again repeated, I’ll give you one drink. My partner and I have been there at least five times but will never return and honestly although I like supporting local businesses over chains, for tasty, authentic Malay food I recommend you visit Roti King, don’t waste your time and money here. As someone who has a wealth of customer experience I know how to treat people fairly and offer great service, while balancing commercial interests, the staff here clearly don’t know how to do either. I didn’t take any photos originally because I had faith the restaurant staff would treat me fairly and offer helpful alternatives, a decision which I now regret.

I recently went here for lunch, and the service was disappointing. We let the waitress know we were ready to order, but instead, she served two other guests who arrived much later than us—and they only ordered one drink! Meanwhile, we had a large order but received subpar service. Later, when our pisang dessert arrived, the server didn’t even bother clearing the empty plates, so we had to make space ourselves. On top of that, they required payment before serving the food, which felt really strange for a dine-in restaurant.

My experience in this restaurant was excellent and I feel bad I cannot rate it even higher than I do now. Everything was excellent. From the quality, quantity, price and taste of the food, to the welcoming and attentive customer service. They go out of their way to provide an excellent customer experience and I would highly recommend this place to my friends and family. I would love to come again. A Hidden Gem in London I recently had the pleasure of dining at Rasa, a Malaysian restaurant in London, and my experience was nothing short of delightful! As a first-timer trying Malaysian cuisine, I ordered the Nasi Goreng, and it was simply incredible. My husband and I had a lovely experience at Rasa yesterday. Darwish took our order promptly, and our food arrived within 10-15 minutes. I ordered the Curry Laksa, prepared by Chef Azim, and I can't recommend it enough! It was incredibly flavourful, perfectly spiced, and tasted authentically Malaysian. Truly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I’m already looking forward to returning!

Kawan kawan if you go there again remember that you are not obliged to pay the 12.5% Service Charge which will be added to your order and payment expected before you are served with your order. In this country service charge must be taken off the bill if a customer asks to do so. A bit cheeky to ask for payment including service charge in advance before you even taste the food or afforded any service. Ask if you are not happy with the service will the service charge be refunded. If you have good experience with the dining and service, ask to take the service charge off and give tips instead. Halal 💪🏼 Food was good but timings are a little all over the place, your food comes to you when it's ready. They had some staff in training who didn't really know the dishes, which was awkward when we wanted to double check what we had been given. The satay selection was lush as a starter. The place feels a bit exposed if you're sat on one of the outer tables, inside seating is much more appealing.

Last Saturday 12th.October 2024 I was at cafe Rasa to have lunch. I ordered a Nasi Limak with prawn sambal after sitting down. Immediately afterwards, a member of staff who gave her name as Nor and identified herself as the manager came to my table with a card payment processing device and requested payment for the item I ordered + 12.5.% service charge. I did not have the food on the table yet and had not received any service. I was unhappy about this and I told her that if you expect me to pay first, I have no issue with that but I am not going to pay for the service charge, for “service” which I have not been provided with. I also informed her that I will pay the amount including service charge once I have finished my meal and satisfied with the service. I repeatedly told her that service charges need to be taken off if a customer asks for it to be and customers have an option to pay the SC or not to. I would normally give good tips which far exceeds the service charges. Not stated that she had no option to remove the SC which was absolutely incorrect. On the POS there is always an option to remove the SC. As customers we decide and don’t let venues like this take advantage. Always ask for the SC to be taken off and give that as tips instead if you are happy with the dining experience and service. I contacted the management and I got a very blunt reponse that if I don’t want to pay the SC, I am not obliged to order. I am unsure if they are aware. Next time in Cafe Rasa be mindful of SC and challenge. That’s the only way to stop this ridiculous practise.

The shopping centre was crazy busy. We found this cafe in the corner which was quite small in size but the food was really flavourful and authentic tasting. We loved everything we tried. Service was very quick as well. If you like Malaysian food this place is a must try.

The food was alright here, not the best Malaysian food I've had. The beef rendang was very dry and wasn't my favourite and the nasi lemak just ok. The laksa also was only alright it could of been spicier. Hard to get servers attention here even though it's fairly quiet, and confusing with only one server being able to take the orders and the others just point to them. They also ask for card payment as you order rather than after you finish

We had a mixed experience at this restaurant. On the one hand the flavors were good and the roti and chicken curry were excellent and well portioned. On the other hand, the beef rendang in my nassi lemak was extremely stingy to point of being laughable. The other dishes we ordered, with exception of the lhaksa shrimp, were also portioned on the meager side. That kind of portion would be alright for a 9 pound meal not for a 15 pound meal. One redeeming factor of our stay was that Jo the waiter Wednesday night was very friendly and apologetic for the low portion size.

Terrible service by the restaurant manager Noor / Najwa on the receipt as she was shouting at me when I requested ice for my cendol literally no ice and it’s in plastic cups like boba tea . She insisted me to add £1 for ice and I refused. Her service was terrible arrogant and so rude . Food was terrible doesn’t taste like mee mamak, sweet and nasty. Will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Very bad experience.

I ordered Chef Special Laksa and it costs £20, which is fine if it was good, but it was not. The waitress spilled a bit of the soup before it got to me which is still acceptable. Until I realised this chef special Laksa is a mix of bits of different proteins. (Reference picture for the beef attached) the amount is also pathetic for what I paid. No one asked if the food is okay or not and that should not be expected if I am paying this place. Bare in mind it is not central London. This is in the Stratford. Do not recommend.

I went on a late Wednesday evening for dinner and the lady lace was quite packed. It is in the basement level of Stratford Westfield shopping centre. The food was between good and average. I ordered the traditional Nasi Lemak, with prawn sambal. Everything tasted good but the dish looked a bit tired. The cucumbers were not fresh and the plates themselves looked a bit run down. The service was very fast. The food felt a bit expensive for the presentation and atmosphere.

We had a wonderful dinner at Café Rasa Malaysia . The food was delicious, with a great selection of authentic Malaysian dishes that were full of flavor. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed evening. A special mention to Navya, who provided excellent service—she was attentive, friendly, and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a taste of Malaysia!

I liked the look of the menu My order was taken and I was looking forward to a nice meal , my first course came delivered by what looked like a chef from the kitchen I inquired where was my starter to which he mumbled something, my sweet tea came at least this was OK I had finished my main meal before my starter came with no apology for it being late , The staff didn't seem to be up to the job of serving in a busy establishment I certainly won't visit again . Certainly overpriced and lacking service skills

This place has downgraded dramatically, the food is so unhygienic, and very different to the menu. The staff are laud talking and laughing, sometimes you feel they are acutally talking about you. It was very friendly and polite years ago but now its become a dump for food. Even when you report to the manager she just ignores and moves on. Becarful if you dont want to become sick the next day.

Had the nasi goreng with prawns which was very good but the stuffed roti and dal were just sublime and some of the best I've had. The iced milk tea was amazing too.

Always eat here on football days. Beautiful tasty food seems very authentic. Very friendly service always smiley staff. I’ll be back when there’s the next match.

Ordered sizzling yee mee. Navya who was the waitress provided very attentive service, asking if everything is good and also offered tap water. She also appeared to be very hardworking, I was there for around 45 mins and saw Navya cleaned each of every table after the dining guests have left. Thanks for the service.

I recently visited this place and had a wonderful dining experience. Though the decor needs a bit of color, the food was amazing. I had Nasi lemak and thr chef Arjun knows how to make it in a Authentic way. Coconut rice was fulfilling🙂. The front staff, Navya, was friendly and attentive. However, the cold tea was a bit average and I might have opted something different given the summer heat. Overall, Rasa offers great food and excellent service.

This place is the best restaurant in Westfield! It’s such a treat that we go especially to eat here. The food is delicious and fresh and my kids also enjoy it. Great prices and great portion sizes.
