I had an exceptional time at Aqua Nueva, service and food was spot on. The tortilla and paella were especially yummy. The only problem I had was the loudness of another table, but that’s not their problem. Thanks!

Such a wonderful experience! The location was ba little difficult to find as Google basically sends you across the street but once I noticed the aqua sign, I came to ask for directions and found the place! Nueva & Kyoto share an entrance. We were welcomed warmly at every step, and shown to our table. The decor was beatiful, the dj was great and the vibe was chilled and classy. Our server Magdalena was lovely and attentive throughout our entire experience. Glasses were never empty- be it water, wine or the delicious cocktails. Our table loved the tapas dining style - we were able to sample so much on the menu. Our faves were the hake, the manchego and the mushroom croquettes (the seafood one was a bit lacklustre), and the bikini sandwich. Apart from the croquettes which came as 6, everything was served in portions for 2. Sadly the seafood paella was sold out, which was a real shame for an early Saturday evening booking, and the lamb was lacking a little something. However the desserts were lovely! I loved the flan, and my guests were won over by the crema Catalana. The churros could have been a little sweeter to counter the dark chocolate sauce but the citrus marmalade was a great touch. We left very happy after taking many photos on the beatiful terrace of course. Thanks to the whole team for a wonderful and beautiful and DELICIOUS evening! We'll be back in the summer!

Delightful experience. A great example of authentic Spanish cuisine at Aqua Nueva Restaurant. Quality of food is nothing less than excellent. Good selection of beverages and cocktails. The price for such quality is very reasonable. Service was friendly, very helpful & attentive to service.

An excellent high end Destination restaurant. Every dish was gorgeous and were interesting variations on spanish classics. We had Fuet cones, patas bravas, pulled pork "burger" and croquetas. In our view the patatas bravas and the croquetas were outstanding, ingenious and tasty. We had lovely rose wine. I would have preferred the wine to have been left on the table. I could not see where it was being kept. There were too many staff on the upstairs reception. We loved the experience.

The service was excellent from the very first moment. From a culinary point of view (and as a connoisseur of Spanish / Catalan food): - the ham croquettes were excellent and recommended. - The Spanish tortilla: good texture but lacking in flavour (tasteless). Perhaps it lacks more onion + salt. - The calçots are an experiment but disappointing for connoisseurs. The romesco sauce does not taste at all as expected. - The "paella" is delicious. However, it was more of a "arroz caldoso" than a paella. - The extra bread: delicious. However, I don't see why in a restaurant of such high quality (and claiming to be Spanish) they don't offer bread (we had to ask for it and pay 5libras). The ambience of the place is charming and well designed. Unfortunately we were put next to a group of people who were TOO noisy to enjoy it (even though the restaurant was empty). I recommend that they stick to writing in English on the menu, or ask for advice for the parts that are written in Catalan (badly). Otherwise: I reiterate the excellent service of the staff!

Amazing restaurant and location. Great view from the terrace. Also excellent service. However, it is more to the pricey side, which made me agree with some of the reviews on here in terms of portions. Some are not worth the price, specially if it will get the whole group food poisoned. We all had a horrible night with stomach problems. Something must be done re HS and higiene or something. We tried various tapas and one main.

I had dinner with two friends at Aqua Nueva last night (Sat 16/3/24). Very easy location just a 2-min walk from Oxford Circus tube station. Beautiful ambience, first you walk through the bar area and then into the restaurant part. Initially the music was okay but it kept getting louder as the evening progressed so we had difficulty hearing each other. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was tasty, carefully prepared and beautifully presented, but we had to wait for half an hour to order and the portions were really small for the prices. I appreciate tapas are meant to be small sharing plates, but these were really small. Even the paella which was supposed to be a main dish for 2 people, was just a thin layer of rice iwith 3 prawns on top. It was more of a taster than a main dish. I would recommend the manchego cheese croquettes and the cod tapas dish. It was okay to try once, but I am not sure I will be going again.

The food was very good, we loved the croquettes and the cured sardines. Good use of the ingredients, decent portions of tapas to share (any less than that wouldn’t justify the price). The service was good in the sense that the waiters were very polite and smiley, not very good in that there was several of them with a few empty tables (it was 6.30pm) and it was difficult to get their attention. To the point that we would have liked a dessert but because they literally left the dining room (we could see them talking in a corner) we couldn’t order one, and then it became late for theatre. Some waiters were clearly inexperienced in catering, one in particular would whisper the ingredients of the dish and ran away. Overall a very good place to eat, the one thing I would improve is the service.

Atmosphere was not great music was extremely loud to the point that it was quite hard to have a conversation as we couldn’t hear each other and when asked if the volume could be down we got told no and that because there was a dj it was just going to get louder, we then asked if maybe we could move to another table ? It was a set menu for valentine's day, wish I was informed about it when booking a table. No choices what so ever so had to go with what they give you for £75 per person, I didn't like the started, the shared platter or the desert, so I paid £75 for 2 little slices of lamb, I came back home hungry and £200 lighter as they also added a £28 service charge

For a start, the entrance of the building is on Argyle Street, not Regents Street. It took me 10' to find it out. I hope the new version of Google Maps can do better. Prices and food are on higher-ups, but not 5* IMO. Finger food starters are the highlight and not to be missed. Low lighting creates a pleasant atmosphere, but I would expect the venue to be less noisy, for my taste. Would recommend it for business or intimate gatherings.

Being Spanish I can say that is difficult to find a good Spanish restaurant in London but if you are looking for nice Spanish food/tapas, Aqua Nueva is not the place. We ordered 5 tapas and three mains and two desserts between two people and we were both quite hungry on our way back home. Cheese croquettes and mushroom croquettes lacked any discernible flavour. It was as if the chef forgot to season them altogether. The texture was just wrong. Instead of the crispy, golden exterior and creamy interior that you'd expect from a well-executed croquette, these were limp, soggy, and utterly unappealing. The cheese one can't go wrong but it still didn't feel good. Crab toast was basic and tiny for the price, the taste was nothing impressive either. Cod Brandada was an interesting dish but not very well executed. The cod skin was too hard. Gamba Alistada red prawns. The rice crisp felt very random. Three cold tiny prawns on top of a big rice crisp. Pan-fried turbot, caviar was probably the worst dish of all. The turbot was flavourless with very heavy foam everywhere. One of the reasons we chosen the dish was because of the caviar but the amount of this was none. Galician octopus, tomato, almond was actually good, nice taste. The octopus is surely not the best quality and it felt a bit chewy but the idea of this dish was really good. Catalan “pases e piñons” duck was also nice. The disappointment was to find just two stains of puree. It is a very cool space in a great location but for the price you are charging you should find a real spanish chef that understands the roots of the spanish cuisine. I can understand that the dishes need to suit the vibe of the restaurant but if you are compromising the quality of the food, it is a big loss. When you read the options on the menu you feel you gonna have a great meal but when the reality hits, it is difficult to be happy about it specially when the bill comes. Good service overall but overprice for what you eat.

We booked last minute on 27.1.24 for a table of two at 6.30, after extensively reviewing the menu and with guidance from our waitress Magdalena we ordered the Potatas Bravas, Mushroom Croquettas, Crab Tostadas, Lamb Rack ( which replaced the slow cooked lamb) and the Red Prawns on a rice crisp and to drink we ordered two cocktails. This meal was by far the worst meal we have ever ordered. To start we sent the potatas and the croquettas back because they were luke warm at best, but put aside that these two dishes were barely warm the potatas was bland and had three tasteless blobs of jelly on top and the mushroom croquettas was filled with a grey tasteless slop. The prawn on the rice crisp was something similar to what I once observed on Gordon Ramsay kitchen nightmares, it turned to mush under my fork was watery and flavourless with zero texture and the prawns had not been deveined and were literally full of poo. We called our waitress over and pointed out our issues, she apologised and said she would bring the dishes back hot and was surprised to see the uncleaned prawns. The paella came next and things got even worse, the two prawns that sat on the Paella again were full of poo ; again not deveined, had no texture to them and were limp and looked watery; the Paella itself was tasteless mush, again we called the waitress and pointed out the problems , she explained they had a new chef??!! and were trying to get the menu right. The only good thing we can say about this experience was Magdalena ( who turned out to be an assistant restaurant manager) who could clearly see how poor these dishes were and was apologising profusely. The lamb Rack was ok, not great just ok and the cocktails tasted like fruit cordial and Kia ora orange mixed together. This was a calamity of a meal, the Manager Magdalena was clearly embarrassed by the catalogue of errors in this meal. The Chef needs sacking, in fact the whole kitchen staff on that night needs firing! It was a disgrace of a meal and Magdalena knew it.

I was a little apprehensive about coming here because it’s in a tourist trap location but it was honestly the best tapas I’ve eaten in a long while! We got the manchega cheese croquettes, Padron peppers, bread, pulled pork, potato bravas and paella…it was more food than I expected! Very tasty and well presented. Service was also great and friendly. The only very small negatives I would say is that the pulled pork was very small and music was very clubby, I think a more jazz and chilled music would have suited better. Overall great experience and will go back!

Incredibly average at best. Service was weird and disjointed from the start, lots of trying to act like a very high end place but came across rude and difficult. Food wasn’t good at all. None of it was seasoned and foam everywhere. The dish that apparently has caviar on it has little to none. Too much trying to make things look ‘out there’ rather than producing quality food. Atmosphere was pretty dead, it was maybe 30% full at best. Overall, I can see why it was easy to get a seat on a very busy night everywhere else. There’s many far better places nearby.

We were due at The Palladium for a matinee performance and decided to book Aqua Nueva. I have been to Aqua Kyoto many times, but fancied a change. The venue couldn't be closer to The Palladium - the entrance is basically opposite the entrance to The Palladium. And, even though the address states: Regent Street, the entrance is in Argyll Street. You enter the restaurant on the ground floor, but go up into a lift. Aqua Nueva is a very large restaurant. It has some great seating areas; some booths, and it is very classy. Because of the building being rather old, there aren't that many windows around, but it doesn't spoil the ambience! We were offered either a booth or a nice window table – both looked great. Our server, Maria, was terrific; helpful and professional and charming, and a delight to talk to. Having been given the menus, we asked for the pre-theatre menu, which was provided – great choice for us. If you're a big eater, you might want to order a couple of extra side dishes, but we were fine. The food was truly scrumptious - could not fault anything - loved it. I opted for the Rustic Tomato Bread, Iberico Ham Croquettes, Wild Mushrooms “guiso” and Hake a la “romana”. Everything was truly scrumptious. My husband chose the Chef’s Omelette, Black Seafood Croquettes, Gamba Red Prawns Rice Crisp and Slow Cooked Lamb. Again, everything was superb. The Prawn Rice Crisp was very delicate and not a very large portion, but still ........... divine! For pudding, my husband went for the Chocolate Churros, but my choice of Seasonal Fruit Salad with Mango, Passion Fruit Sauce, was a winner ……… of course, I had to share! Truly a wonderful experience – no complaints whatsoever. We were not rushed in any way - everything was perfect. Washed down with a bottle of Muga Blanco and with a service charge of 15%, our bill came to around £60 per person, but it was worth every penny. Again, so close to The Palladium. A great choice of restaurant. Cannot wait to return.

Each time we wanted drinks we went inside ourselves to order from the bar. After the third time and an error by the barman, who really couldn't have cared less, I spoke to the more senior member of staff who had looked after us in the restaurant. All he kept saying was "but you had good service from me in the restaurant" as if we'd received our allocated quota of adequate service!!!! It’s not even worth the half price we paid. Beware that the term “free-flowing” does not mean it’s free flowing, you will only get one portion of the food and cannot re-order the dishes that you like. Oddly the extra you pay for the free-flowing drinks are indeed free-flowing. The staff was trying to convince us that “free-flowing” simply means flowing courses of food, not unlimited. Very deceiving!

The staff are friendly and provide excellent service. It was a very quiet lunchtime so there wasnt the restaurant buzz to feel that comfortable congenial atmosphere .Sadly the food did not measure up .The tomato bread was disappointing as not anything out of the ordinary .The paella was flavoursome but we were advised there would be enough for 3 as it was very rich .The portion each amounted to 3 mouthfuls . This was to be a special birthday treat so am sad it was not to expectations .

A little while ago myself and an old friend came to catch up over drinks. It was busy and bar service only, we were greeted at the bar by a young lady with a smile. She very quickly served us and the drinks were made with love. As the friend I was with is a wheelchair user we asked if there were any low rise tables as we saw the booths were not very wheelchair accessible. She quickly stepped out of the bar and walked us to a lower table and even removed one of the chairs so my friend could put his wheelchair in the space with no hassle. Myself and my friend felt very comfortable and cared for straight away. These small efforts go a very long away, thank you to that young lady behind the bar!

Menu was not Spanish, as advertised, a small glass of flat cava and a gin and tonic cost £38, left without ordering food and spent a lovely evening at an authentic tapas restaurant in Mayfair.

Having eaten at aqua kyoto and been v impressed, thought I would give this a go. Went for my daughter's 30th bday. We were all underwhelmed. Service was fab. But the food was very disappointing. We love spanish food and found this a bit tasteless, nothing special at all. I don't mind spending good money on a fab meal but this made us all a bit sad ans deflated honesty. Would not recommend.

I made a booking to have a couple of drinks at the Nueva Bar on Friday 27 October 2023 at 6p.m. It was a girls' night out with two of my friends. I had not previously visited the bar and was really looking forward to visiting and thought it could become a place I would visit regularly. Unfortunately, it was an awful experience and I will never be returning. The staff and customer service were atrocious. A damp squid has more charisma than the staff members we had to deal with that evening. One of them also made an error with the billing yet was totally unbothered and unapologetic about it all. When the bill came, we asked to split it three ways. One of us paid a third of the bill without issue. When it came to me and my other friend paying our third, the machine stopped working. The individual serving us left to obtain a different machine. Upon his return he unthinkingly split the bill in two (rather than a third), seemingly forgetting in the span of literally two minutes that he had already charged one of us. Unfortunately, we both paid without checking the amount and realizing that we had been overcharged. As luck would have it, just soon after we had paid a notification buzzed up on my Apple Watch notifying me that my card had been charged. I glanced down at it and saw an amount which alarmed me. It suddenly dawned on me what had happened. The server, too distracted and self-involved, had split the bill in two rather than a third. We immediately got up and went to the bar to rectify the issue. The individual who had served us was unmoved and expressionless. Another individual got involved to try and help us resolve. He, too, then became agitated and bothered for no good reason, as if we had caused the problem! He then finally refunded us the proportion we had overpaid, all haughty and condescending in the process. We then asked to speak to the manager. He again seemed irritated and stormed off. He reappeared and I asked where the manager was. He then went off again and then returned to say that he had contacted the manager but it would be "a while" before he would appear so it was up to us whether we wanted to wait (almost gleeful at the prospect). We had another commitment and so had to leave but I vowed I would write a review of my experience. Not only this, but the bar staff are utterly useless and incompetent at what should be their craft. I had ordered a mezcal negroni. The individual who took my order seemed momentarily confused but I figured once he communicated the order to the people actually making the cocktail, all would be well. The cocktail returned. It tasted nothing like a mezcal negroni (even now I have no idea what was in that drink), and it was packed with small ice cubes (any bartender worth his/her salt would (1) know what mezcal is(!) and (2) know that the type of ice you use in a negroni is incredibly important). I queried it with the individual who served us. He came back to say "this is how we do it". I was flabbergasted. A bar charging £18 for a cocktail could not even make a decent negroni. Wetherspoons would have done a better job. My friends' drinks were just as abysmal. One ordered a classic negroni and the other a passionfruit mojito. They were both disappointed. I was totally embarrassed, being the one who was responsible for organizing the evening and selecting that venue. Honestly, this place is NOT worth it. Save your money and go somewhere with staff who are not demeaning and condescending to their paying customers, and who can actually make cocktails as they should be made. AVOID!

The security apologized for having mistakenly blocked us from accessing the building, mature. Dishes served long after the kitchen finished cooking. Some of them were not fresh. The bill was mainly for the city view.

Sorry to say, I was very unwell within an hour of leaving the restaurant and think there was a problem with my monkfish. The other two diners were fine. Also it was practically empty and therefore little atmosphere. Expensive for what we had.

Having read the reviews, we booked. Walked to the pulsating beat of a disco, not what we expected when going for dinner. We opted for the tasting menu with wine flight. First course was great, sadly it went downhill from there. Courses were bland, we sent the prawn dish back as prawns not deveined, course was changed, or was it? Looked exactly the same with the prawns still having their intestinal tract which we quite simply didn’t want to eat. I don’t care if it’s safe, when we are paying that much I want the chef to make an effort! Dessert, deconstructed creme Catalan, not a hint of orange. Music still ringing in our ears, we decided to go with a cocktail each. A margarita with a salted rim, really. At that point we gave up, paid up and left. So disappointed, wouldn’t go back and certainly wouldn’t recommend, have had better tasting menus at home.
