Everything was excellent (zucchini blossom, rocket salad and tiramisu). The Agnolotti 'spring' were at 11/10! Better than in Italy! Well done guys 👏🏻

Such a lovely restaurant. Great environment, staff were so friendly, and food was AMAZING. The mains were so good I forgot to take a photo; lobster Ragu Incredible, and they definitely don't skimp on the lobster; definitely worth treating yourself.

We were here two years ago and have been talking about it ever since. I thought we may have exaggerated how nice this was with time but no, it really is something special. The lamb shoulder and potato agnolotti was delicious and both the prawns and arancini were the best I ever remember having

I was warmly greeted by Lyndsey and looked after very well by her. The food was excellent. There was a surprise birthday voucher from my daughter waiting for me on my table. I would definitely return when in Fowey. Highly recommended.

It was a lovely surprise to find somewhere like this in Fowey and get a table last minute on a Friday. Excellent monkfish starter, perfectly al dente squid ink pasta with a delicate crab sauce. My partner had the surf and turf with a twist ie steak with grilled prawns and was thoroughly pleased with it. And the negronis lived up to their reputation- if you’re tippling, go for one of these

Appletons Bar and Restaurant is the pearl of the beautiful fishing village Fowey. The food is excellent, the service fantastic and the atmosphere could not be better. We loved it and will definitely be back! If you pass by Fowey, you cannot miss the chance to dine here! Thanks so much Lyndsey for hosting us and for your recommendations. We followed them and spent a night at the Gainsborough in Bath. We enjoyed the hotel and spa very much. We wish you all the best and will make sure to come back when we are in Cornwall again!

So happy we tried this place. We got lunch and brought our little, which I was a bit worried about because this place was so fancy. However they were very accommodating with the baby and the space was bigger than expected. On top of that the food was amazing, even the baby's pesto pasta which was a huge portion so we ate some of it. Everything we tried was 10/10. Some lamb shoulder and squash pasta both exceptional. I wish we had more time to come here again to try more.

A MUST TRY! Fantastic meal at Appletons last night - one truly deserved pat on the back must be given here. From the food and service to the pleasant atmosphere, overall it was completely faultless and throughly enjoyed by all. Prices were more than fair. Highly recommended to all. Thank you to the staff and chef’s for looking after us, we’ll be back very soon !

Really nice if a little expensive. The lamb pasta was incredible, the steak was very good despite not coming with potatoes and the seafood stew was really interesting, not the standard taste at all. The cheese arancini deserves a mention too, very tasty.

Sublime. Every dish was utterly perfect. Staff lovely. Can’t recommend more. We will be back asap.

Fantastic local, fresh, homemade food. We had a great dinner here. Seems to be Italian influenced. Lots of fresh pasta on the menu.

Visited twice while visiting Fowey for a long weekend .... the first just for dessert with a glass of wine as we already had dinner plans. The most amazing cheesecake! While we were there, we found out they are open for Sunday lunch every other week so booked in. The roast beef melted and all the extras (pigs in blankets, roast spuds, parsnips, carrots, broccoli and youskhire puds) were all just so delicious! Highly recommend and we hope they are still doing this when we return next year!

We enjoyed a lovely Friday lunch at Appleton's with our two young children. The service from the waitress was exceptional. She was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was a delight, the buffalo mozzarella starter and the cod and pea risotto main were beautifully presented and very tasty. The panna cotta dessert was devine. The £25 main and dessert lunch menu is very reasonable considering the quality of this restaurant. We'll be sure to go back when we're next in Fowey.

Why this place hasn't any rosettes I don't know. Sublime food, excellent service. Will return.

Top notch Italian food in a wonderful setting. The dishes were imaginative and very well executed, with obviously excellent ingredients. The staff were warm and attentive. The pasta here is really good and clearly made in-house. Our youngest was offered a number of child friendly options that were also excellent. The cocktails and mocktails were very good and I was impressed with the extensive wine list as well as the variety of non alcoholic beverages on offer. Well worth a visit!

We went there for dinner try to find the right restaurant for a good dinner and I have to say , the best sinner experience of all time!! From the starters till the desserts !! Every single flavor was perfect and taste unique!!! Highly recommended if you want to eat majestic food !!

We had dinner at Appleton and we were more than impressed. The food is exquisite and the service exceptional. We were very impressed by the creativity of the dishes and the freshness of the ingredients. Very well balanced using only the best ingredients. In addition, the restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a great ambiance. It really is the perfect place for a nice dinner or a celebration. Highly recommend it.

Experienced Lindon diner and this was absolutely outstanding in every respect. Compared to some of the pincer over-priced Michelin star offerings, this was a different league. If you haven’t been go - if you’re dithering take the leap you will not be disappointed. Try - Burrata with bee pollen Marinated Sea Trout Flat Iron Steak with Red Prawn Poached Cod in olive oil and b-road beans. Clotted cream cheesecake White Chocolate Pannacotta All ABSOLUTELY outstanding as I expect everything else is too. NB I am not a friend, relative or local - just a cynical old gormet.

Menu is creative and delicious and caters well for all dietary needs (I ate fish and my wife had the vegetarian menu). The best place you can eat in Fowey. You need book your reservation well in advance.

We had dinner here recently and it was excellent. The food was some of the best I've eaten in the past couple of years. The service was great, attentive but not overbearing with good gaps between courses. Nice ambience and an extensive Italian focused wine list, albeit on the pricey side. Having eaten in almost every option in Fowey this is up there in the top three best places. We will definitely be going back.

Went here June 2023 as a 4 From the sourdough bread to start through to the Pana Cota everything was delicious. Great service and moderately priced Would definitely recommend this as a place to eat in Fowey I will be back

It felt really good to go to a restaurant and feel as if we were wanted. Restaurant was full but tables were very well spread so as not to feel crowded. Service was excellent and the food was beautiful. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Food here is fantastic. Had the octopus starter and flat iron steak as a main with tenderstem as a side, all were cooked to perfection . 4 stars for atmosphere was only because we could only book for 6pm . Great service and very helpful staff.

Warm welcome, friendly and unobtrusive service and outstanding rustic Italian cooking. The short menu of entrées, mains and desserts (c.4 of each) allows perfection in every bite and a regularly changing menu. The best restaurant in Fowey by a long chalk. We shall definitely return.

Beautiful place with gorgeous food and kind staff!

So glad we found this place whilst on holiday. Food was delicious, staff were so friendly and attentive. We arrived looking like drowned rats, dog included, due to the rain and they had a seat for us quickly, brought water for our dog. Best meal by far.

Excellent service, staff very warm and happy. Both Manager and the waitress were excellent. Food was delightful and excellent value for money (beats many more accredited places in Cornwall) we will certainly be returning.

Amazing food, nice presentation and great service, they managed to squeeze us in and cook the food quicker than normal so we could catch the last ferry back from Fowey. Highly recommend Appleton’s!

A fantastic meal, we arrived late, around 2 pm for lunch, but there was no reduction in terms of service excuse the pun. The food was amazing, I will definitely be back.

Third time to Appleton's, and as spectacular as it was the times before. Scallop ravioli starter was my highlight, but the nduja risotto was equally spectacular. Couldn't finish it all due to pure greed with the arancini nibbles first. One of Cornwall's best restaurants, easily.

Utterly exceptional. Three of us arrived in the hope they would squeeze us in and thank goodness they did. Every dish we ate was extraordinary - slow roasted lamb pasta dish was out of this world. High quality food matched by impeccable service means this is not one to miss.

Incredible meal here with friends. 3 chefs pouring out knock out food. Appleton’s has a high rating for a reason! Fresh squid ink crab pasta, cured trout and seafood stew were the stand outs. Highly recommend! thanks to amazing service team as well!

Went to this restaurant today, & I can honestly say it’s one of the best meals I’ve ever had ( and I’ve had a few) Absolutely 1st class in all aspects, all cooked in front of us. I have dined here a couple of times and the most recent one had been a bit disappointing as we have specified in the booking that it was for a bday celebration, but no gesture was made from the restaurant whereas most restaurants at this price would offer a nice little touch. The food was nice though.

Spacious and relaxed atmosphere, with a carefully crafted menu and everything made in the open kitchen on-site. Really friendly waiting staff, and every last plate was stunning, both presentation and taste. We even got cocktails to takeaway - which were excellent. Highly recommend a stop - with booking advised.

We had a delicious meal here. The staff were very welcoming and attentive throughout. It wasn’t cheap but it was definitely worth it.

Superb food and good service. Sourdough bread was a little burnt, but everything else was delicious and the wine options were good. Easily the best food I've had in Fowey since Nathan Outlaw left. Two mains, one starter and two desserts with wine came to £130.

Been trying to get in for ages and finally got a booking. Everything was first class! From the start we were made to feel so welcome. Cocktail list is spectacular and the food insane! Cannot wait to be back!

Excellent food and great service. Normally I would be put off by any Michelin rating but this is the exception! It's a pity the Maître d' wasn't a little more relaxed and less formal. But highly recommended.

A mediocre experience for a restaurant rated on The Michelin Guide. Went here for my husbands birthday. We got in a few minutes late in the rain and were immediately told on entering that the table would be needed exactly by 2 hours which killed the atmosphere. No warmth or personable service; seemed almost mechanically driven. The decor was basic and almost canteen like. Having eat in several Michelin rated restaurants I’d give the food rating a 6.5/10. Good but not amazing. We gave feedback about the panna cotta and it not having the right texture only to be met with a completely defensive attitude and refusal to accept honest feedback. It was too much effort for the restaurant to do anything for my husbands birthday either; the best they could do was a candle on dessert. All in all a completely inflexible and indifferent attitude to their diners.

So I don’t really write reviews but the food at Appletons is incredible. We went there during our family holiday to Fowey. From start to finish the experience was amazing, from being greeted at the door to the meal was just fantastic. Don’t be put off by the sample menu if you going with kids. They offered to make them pasta with a tomato sauce, which they both loved and finished. If I lived closer I would visit more frequently. We started with two different negronis, the choice is unbelievable and I will be back to try the other options available. I had the burrata to start with which was sublime followed by the steak. You know it’s a good restaurant knows when they propose how the steak should be cooked. We finished the meal with the cheese cake and the tiramisu. Possibly the best meal I have eaten in the last three years and I’ve been to some fairly expensive restaurants.

Superb dinner. Helpful communication when booking online and needed to modify the booking. Spacious & calm atmosphere, excellent service and superb food. Dog friendly, too. Just getting into their stride after initially opening just before Mar 20 - definitely one to watch as they settle in.

Disappointing! The restaurant has the atmosphere of a canteen, bright overhead spotlights, tables close together with seating on a long, uncomfortable bench and all the noise of the kitchen. Unfortunately, the food was not brilliant either, the flat iron steak was chewy and tasteless and not, in my opinion, up to the Michelin standard. The menu had very limited choice (only 4 mains to choose from) and was expensive. To top it all, the waitress cleared the table next to us and sprayed disinfectant all around while we were eating which left an unpleasant taste and smell. Not the experience I was expecting after reading previous reviews.

Superb food and service, worth paying that bit more.

A very special restaurant in Fowey, we went to celebrate a special occasion & the staff were great & friendly from first entering ( booking recommended). The food was simply delicious! On this review wine was the drink of the day, both house white & red were judged very palatable. One of our party was not drinking alcohol & thought the range of non alcoholic drinks to be brilliant! You pay for what you get with an ever changing menu a great find! I hope the attached photos do the chef's efforts justice

If you come here get the lobster risotto, it is easily the best starter I've had in years.
