We had booked 2 months in advance, giving creditcard as guarantee, specifically asked not to be seated near dogs, as the place is very dogfriendly. As you enter there is a large pink neon sign saying we should probably hang something here, atmosphere pizzeria, when I gave our name, we were given 2 seats, facing a wall, seriously, this is supposed to be an very upscale restaurant, after we complained we eventually were given a table on first floor, where there were no dogs...the food was very good, but the service absoljutely hopeless, and since this IS expensive dining, seriously, paper napkins !!!

Excellent meal with my wife this last week, good choice of nibbles, starters main courses and desserts, all presented beautifully, served with a smile without any delays. Food was excellent, in a good atmosphere in this great restaurant in wonderful Fowey

We visited Appleton’s as we were breaking up our trip from London to St Ives with a short stay in Fowey. In my view having now visited Appleton’s no visit to Fowey is complete without sampling some food at this amazing restaurant. My wife and I chose two different starters she had the prawns and I had the Octopus. We both agreed the Octopus with an N’duja sauce was simply amazing. Possibly the tastiest octopus dish we have ever eaten. That’s not to say the prawns weren’t delicious it’s just one dish has to come first!! For mains we both went for pasta with me picking the Lobster and my wife the crab Linguine. We shared 50/50 and are still arguing about which dish was the best!! To top it all the service and atmosphere were both wonderful and we cannot wait to find another excuse to visit Fowey and this wonderful restaurant!

We had a great dinner here on a Friday evening. All three courses were excellent and we could see why Appletons gets such high reviews, and we’d definitely eat here again. A marvellous highlight for our last evening in Fowey. Curiously, service initially appeared to be a little rushed. The pre appetisers we ordered (with drinks) never arrived, although the starters ( ordered after) did turn up pretty quickly followed fairly rapidly after by the mains. After this though things were pretty relaxed even after ordering desserts and we were the last people in the restaurant and were not hurried in any way.

We have eaten here a lot and it is always good. Last week was no exception. Lyndsey and Andy continue to serve excellent food. As this is an Italian restaurant there were a lot of pasta dishes, as I am not a pasta fan I had Cod which was the best fish I had in Cornwall. Sadly there are very few top class restaurants in Fowey but this is the best. David and Trish. Bath

Lovely place, clean and uncluttered- staff attentive but no overly Food was amazing, I had lamb shoulder which was superb, so tasty and moreish. Atmosphere was fine, a little stark, but thats their style. Loved the open kitchen - food presentation was also beautiful. Prices are on the higher side, but eating out is expensive now and for this quality it will cost more. Will definitely go back next time we are in Fowey

After a poor experience in our hotels restaurant last night we were feeling rather deflated ortoxilaely as this was to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Visiting Fowey with friends for a birthday treat. Went on the Hall Walk and then found Appletons whist meandering through the beautiful streets of Fowey. We were quite late for lunch and thought we may be too late but on entering the restaurant we were greeted by exceptionally friendly staff who made us feel welcome. We ordered a two course meal which was just delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. The food, service, location and facilities were all top notch would definitely recommend to friends and family and look forward to going there again.

We have visited Appleton’s quite a few times over the last couple of years and it is always excellent. Always a warm welcome on arrival. The staff are friendly. The food is consistently excellent, at our most recent visit the cheesecake with rhubarb dessert was a real standout. The numerous choices of negronis, as well as the selection of Italian wines make for difficult choices as to what to drink. We very much look forward to visiting again when we are back in Fowey.

My friends and I supported a Lifeboat Charity event on Friday night. The atmosphere was electric, the staff were efficient and attentive. The free welcome drink was completely unexpected, and THE INCREDIBLE FOOD… Speechless! I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. If you are ever in Fowey and fancy an unexceptional meal with amazing hosts, this is the restaurant for you. And what an extremely generous gesture for Appleton’s to support such a local and worthy charity. Great night 🫶

What a great place to dine. We have been in Padstow for a break so decided to venture south specifically to visit Appleton's and it definitely was worth the trip. As soon as I tasted the anchovy and sage fritters we knew a good meal was in store. Excellent pasta as you expect given Andie's head chefs role at both the flagship Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurants. Great cocktail list (11 negroni to choose from) an interesting no/lo selection and a short but well chosen Italian wine list. Also to find a Sgroppino outside of Italy was a great surprise! Wish we didn't live 200 miles away but will return when back down in that neck of the woods. Well done chef and team.

We stopped in on 23/12 for a quick lunch and on the recommendation of a friend. We were not disappointed. Excellent wine list and the food was excellent. Also a small portion of a regular dish for our 20 month old was no trouble for them. Often the children’s menu’s are typically nuggets/fish and chips / burger etc. it was good to be able to order a half size pasta. Lovely bright premises tucked away in a small charming street and the staff were just lovely and helpful. Recommended.

A birthday meal with family that catered to everyone’s taste. We were greeted at the door with a warm welcome, coats taken and seated promptly. Nothing was too much trouble. I LOVE this place. We went for a visit today for what is rapidly becoming our in-between Christmas and New Year tradition. As always the deep fried anchovy and sage leaves were out of this world and the courses that followed were equally as awesome and delicious. It is lovely to see Andy cooking in his restaurant and the atmosphere is always one of calm. All of the staff are very friendly and efficient and nothing is too much trouble. My husband has a dairy intolerance and one of the waitresses took time to discuss his options with the kitchen and then noted them all down on his menu. There aren’t enough adjectives to describe how brilliant Appletons is. It is quite simply my favourite restaurant and I am forever grateful that I live close enough to visit it often.

We went for dinner this evening and the meal was lovely as was the atmosphere, staff and the vibe. The menu selection wasn’t huge but the slow cooked lamb was divine - literally melted in the mouth 🤤 the staff were all very friendly, knew the menu VERY well and very attentive and accommodating.

Great setting, lovely food and friendly service. Booked last minute having wanted to come here for sometime having heard good things about it. Certainly we weren’t disappointed. The food was delicious, the service was friendly, efficient and at just the right pace. This is a great place.

Such a wonderful restaurant. We’ve eaten here a few times being lucky enough to live a ferry ride away in Mevagissey. The food is always exceptional, the crab linguine is genuinely a masterpiece and you have to try the fried sage and anchovy bites, incredible. Always welcoming and wonderful staff who have accommodated us both as a drop in and as a reservation. Try the Vie De Romans Chardonnay on the wine menu, genuinely a special wine. Will keep coming here and looking forward to our next meal.

We enjoyed a fabulous meal at Appletons. However, it was spoiled by the attitude of the man who seemed to be in charge. When we queried the cost and size of some of our glasses of wine, he was both rude and dismissive. Such a pity. We had booked a table for the following week which we reluctantly cancelled as we didn't want to come across him again.

We were a walk-in on a Saturday afternoon and fancied the 2-course, £25 set lunch menu. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance and we were sat in a quiet corner upstairs where we really enjoyed mussels and frites, and a sausage ragu. This was followed by a delicious chocolate brownie and ice cream. Overall, this was a really pleasant experience and super friendly staff, and we’d highly recommend. We will definitely be back!

The whole visit was great. The welcome and expertise shown in presenting the ingredients of a stunning menu paved the way for excellence. From cocktails to deserts everything was very, very good. 6 very happy guests.
