Myself and my husband stayed at Apparo boutique hotel for the weekend We had a fantastic stay. The room was great and the bed really comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant which was fantastic with a really good menu. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Decided to take the 10min detour off the main Belfast to Derry road for lunch here as we had eaten here a few years ago and were very impressed We were so glad we did the food is delicious and so well presented the chefs definitely take great pride in their work The staff were so nice and the restaurant is spacious and comfortable But the value for what you get is amazing the prices are so good We will definitely detour here again it is so worth the 10minuite drive Excellent first class food at amazing price

It is a wonderful restaurant with a wide variety of choices. It was so hard to pick what I wanted as the choices were incredible. The staff were so attentive and I will definitely return to this awesome restaurant

Called in on a cycling break. To be fair, we did not want a Sunday dinner so asked for toasties and drinks. Took forever to get ham & cheese toasties (waitress nipped out to Centra to buy a loaf?). They were made with cheap bread and poorly filled. Coffee was abysmal. It beggared belief that we were charged £5 per toastie. I'll not be back either for a snack or a meal. So it was a pyrrhic victory for Apparo. I accept that we ordered off-menu, but were overcharged.

We had lunch here today. Very ordinary. My wife had fish and chips and the batter was so bad and heavy with a thin fish it was almost inedible. My burger was over cooked. We told the waitress at checkout and she said she would tell the chef. At no time we’re we ask how the meal was. Extremely disappointed.

We had lunch here today with a group of Seniors, following a visit to Glenshane Country Farm. The surroundings were agreeable and welcoming, the food was praised by all and the service was impeccable. Recommended.

Just enjoyed Sunday lunch with another 5 people. Great selection of meals to choose from and a quick service in an enjoyable atmosphere

In these Covud days there is an element of risk in eating out in unfamiliar places. We felt safe here. Service was efficient and friendly, and we the food was well cooked and presentation was excellent. Overall, a a very pleasant experience

We got a picnic from here during our tour of the Sperrin Mountains, don't tell our guide but we kept the glass jar with the chocolate cake to eat later.

I went for lunch with kids. The food was lovely and the staff were very friendly and good with the children. My only suggestion is that perhaps the children’s chicken goujons could be 3 smaller ones and in breadcrumbs rather than 2 large ones in batter as would be more child friendly . As for the chicken with mash and pepper sauce, it was delicious and just the right amount.

Apparo never ever lets you down. Celebrated a wedding annivetsary there last Saturday and the team here just keep on delivering a five star dining experience. So good in fact I have booked a table of four again this weekend.

Excellent place. Found this place by chance and was excellent! Staff very welcoming and food was excellent, especially the pizza! The COVID precautions were very good and reassuring. Also excellent value.

Visited as a group of 20, all 20 of us really enjoyed the meal. Majority had the steaks, every steak was cooked to perfection. Others enjoyed fish and pork dishes. Desserts amazing. Service outstanding, staff friendly and food excellent.

We got the pizza menu and had delicious pizza each for good value and a bowl of sweet potato fries, booked the table saying it was my boyfriend's birthday and they brought his dessert out with a candle and music playing was very thoughtful and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Only downside was the cocktail lounge was closed but you can still order cocktails to the table :)

Recently went for lunch. Very friendly staff. Was tempted by the £8 for salt n chilli chicken, but decided to go for two starters instead. Spicy parsnip soup (£3) was the best I’ve ever had - creamy and just right spiciness - with a warm slice of delicious wheaten bread. Had tempura seafood (£5) which was very tasty , and relatives had chicken on mash and fish and chips- chunkiest chips I’ve ever seen. Obviously I had to steal a few - salty and cooked to perfection:) Would recommend anyone go here. Nice surroundings and ambience too.

Arriving late at the hotel we decided to use the adjoining restaurant downstairs. The food was the usual mix of meat, pasta and salad dishes and was tasty and mid-priced. Only disappointment was the lack of a range of draft beers however there is a nice little friendly pub just across which was ideal for pre-dinner drinks.

What a treasure for the small town of Draperstown. Breakfast and dinners were wonderful. The staff was friendly and attentive.

Stayed here recently just for the night on business room, food and stall all excellent I shall return.

This restaurant serves lovely food, wine and cocktails. Have enjoyed many fabulous meals here both on a week night and at the weekend. Highly recommended.

I ate here when staying at the hotel. On the first night I had a seven course pairing and tasting menu which was delicious, although quite expensive. The next night I had a two course meal from the menu which was also delicious. This is a place to go to for a special occasion.

Our party of 5 called here last Saturday, we had a table booked and were heading on to a show so had very little time. The place was packed and a large party ordered just before us, we were sure we would be late as there was so many of them, however we explained to the waitress we were in a hurry and she rushed us through. She was very pleasant and efficient and despite having to rush we still enjoyed our food. The place was very busy so obviously popular with locals. Good food and good staff.

We stopped in for a late dinner. The food was good. I had the burger which was well cooked and tasty.

What a wonderful dining experience my wife Noeleen & I had in the Apparo restaurant in the small town of Draperstown, Co. Derry, N. Ireland.

This little rural gem is tucked away in the sperrins with an artistic entrance.It is light filled but mellow.Jazz was too much for me otherwise the ambiance warm and casual.Staff friendly but slightly disorganised.The food was super good with the turkey and ham special seasoned beautifully with a light but rich jus that was jus(t) right.

We went here Sunday evening. Not busy which was surprising! My partner had tomato and basil soup with wheaten bread. Soup was creamy with lots of fresh basil. Tasted real good! I had goats cheese wrapped in a wafer thin ham. Delicious! We both had pork tenderloin for mains. It was cooked to perfection. Service was excellent too. We'll definitely be back.

My daughter and I dropped in here midweek for a light lunch a few weeks ago. I had the chicken Caesar's salad starter and my daughter had the tempura prawns. We shared breads and tapenade. All delicious. A lovely restaurant which unfortunately was empty. Wish I lived nearer so I could visit more often.

We had lunch to celebrate our mother’s 93 birthday. The food was superb. Fresh, innovative and full of flavour. The highlight however was the waiter. He was just wonderful including a surprise dessert with birthday candle and Happy Birthday sung! Can’t recommend highly enough 👍

Hadn’t been to apparo in the evening for a while due to a little one. Had forgotten how amazing the food is. Goats cheese, orange and almond starter followed by chicken, spinach and smoked cheese. Exceeded my expectations and can’t wait to get back. Staff friendly and polite as always.

He invitado a mi madre y amigo a unirse a mí en Apparo para el almuerzo. Fue la primera vez en el restaurante. Probamos el queso de cabra en focaccia, sopa del día y el mediterráneo ciabatta. La comida estaba bien presentada, con un excelente nivel y el servicio era excelente. También disfrutamos de un par de cafés americano y algunos quebradiza. Me gusta su café. Mi madre y su amiga estaban muy impresionados.

Bastante bien la ubicación y la decoración.

Primera visita y probablemente será la última - ordenados las vieiras, casi tuvimos que buscar para ellos en el plato, al lado estaba la carne que era agradable y estaba desierto, que era chocolate fudge cake tan seca ni siquiera comer la mitad. Como es un lugar bastante pequeño y estaba concurrido, sábado por la noche era muy ruidoso, nos gritaba en otro en la mesa.

Excellent restaurant, perfect staff, helpful Niall H. Traveling home we were looking for dinner. It was too early but Niall did not let us go hungry. I would recommend without hesitation.

Had a evening meal here at late notice, the staff were great and couldn't do enough for you. The restaurant had a relaxed feel to it and was clean. The food was lovely and well presented. I would definitely recommend this place.

We have stopped to eat there 3 or 4 times in our touring the area. Every time we have not only had really good food, but amazing service with a smile. Take a drive to the great little town of Draperstown and give it a try.

Eight of us visited Apparo recently for a special occasion and we had a wonderful meal and evening.The food was delicious and the service, although a little slower than I would have liked, was always with a smile.The only complaint, from all drinking the wine, was that it wasn't chilled enough and although we made our server aware of this nothing happened to remedy it.Wine temperature aside, we would highly recommend Apparo.

This was out 4th visit in a year and frankly after today's debacle dint think we'll be back. Have invited and recommended with friends in the past but that will now stop. Brought another couple with us on 21 May. Had a lovely meal well cooked and presented on that evening. We all went down on the Sunday morning at the arranged time of 10.30 where we were overcome with volume of noise from 10 plus locals who were friendly with the staff enjoying several very early beers. Breakfast for 4 was really fit for 2. Disorganised, slow, cold and delivered in reverse with cereal arriving after fry had been eaten. Toast came 15 mins after cold hard poached eggs. Sent back untouched. Place needs to get their act together back to where they were. So very very disappointed in our visit.

Booked this hotel for my husband, mother and myself, was guaranteed to have a wheelchair suitable room for my mother. On arrival the staff were very disorganized, couldn't get the keys to work the lift, which we were later informed had "never worked from the day and hour it was fitted". Firstly the bed was far too high for her, no grab rails in the bathroom and no phone to contact us next door if needed. To top it all, the lift stuck on us when we were going to go out for food, had to wait 10 minutes for a response as all the staff had gone home due to the restaurant closing at 3 30.at this stage we left and found another hotel. Didn't even get an apology from the owner until 2 days later. Disgusted is not the word.

What a good idea we had to go there .Pleasant atmosphere and the staff were super. The food choices were great and the portions sufficient. The setting is lovely and good value for money Really surprised by the place in the middle of the Sperrins

Was highly recommended by a friend who visits regularly had a beautiful meal but was disappointed in my main course of the duck I have to say I m a lover of duck an if it's on a menu I have it but not everywhere cooks it to my liking unfortunately however we had the cheeseboard an it was amazing. Staff were very polite an professional and def very reasonably priced definitely worth a visit

There's no denying - Apparo serves the best food in Mid Ulster. Perfectly cooked, wonderful menu, great wine list. Unfortunately that's about all I have to say. If you're a foodie - come and enjoy. If you're after a good value, romantic meal - perhaps go elsewhere.

We had a fantastic Easter lunch today. The service was super, the welcome warm and the food fabulous. Located in the Sperrin the scenery is breathtaking.

We are not strangers to Apparo Restaurant, we visit 3 or 4 times a year. We always look forward to our visit. Last Saturday night was no exception, once again we all enjoyed a lovely meal, well presented by an excellent team.I had a sirloin steak which was perfectly cooked and delicious, a portion of champ and a bushmills sauce. After our meal we retired to the recently renovated cocktail lounge. Ambiance was excellent. A word of advise to the complainers, treat the staff as equals they will respond in kind. most are hard working students trying to earn a bit extra to get through university.

This was my 3rd meal in Apparo in the last month, each time was slightly more disappointing than the last visit.We dined with friends on Saturday night, after the rush and on the evening menu. Firstly we found the lovely choice of breads has been replaced by thin slivers of bread, you get about half the portion size at the same price as it was.We each had a tiny starter, then for mains we had steaks with tobacco onions, usually these are amazing, a real treat, but the steak was bland and the tobacco onions were not fresh. My friend also had the monkfish which was the smallest main course any of us had ever seen, but the price was extortionate for what we got. No sides were included either. Still hungry we tried for desserts, but they were out of what we wanted. Sad to say, but my recent visits here have shown that the menu is quickly becoming more extortionate style over substance, and the service remains slow.We were not happy that after spending over £125 on a meal here, we ended up stopping at the Chinese on the way home.I hope they quickly go back to their former glory as not long ago, it was a real treat to eat here!

I've been here a few times with my family - and that's only because it's local to my in-laws. I genuinely cannot say anything good about this restaurant. The service is SLOW - expect to be ignored for much of your visit whilst the waiters socialise amongst themselves.Unless you're going for a roast dinner, descriptions of dishes on the menu are entirely different from the final product. I can't comment on the quality of the ingredients, because the cooking is so poor everything comes out under-seasoned, dry, mushy or greasy. I almost forgot to mention they charge fine dining prices for cafeteria food.I dread the very thought of having to go here again...and yet I know I will have to. Pray for me.

Have eaten here 3 times, went at lunch time, love the food. A bit different from the usual big plate of spuds and veg. Just don't ask for extra gravy, £1.50 we were charged, and in the smallest container they could find. Never noticed until i was home, a bit mean i thought, but i will be back.

We both had Cod. mine had prawn Korma with nutmeg spinach asked I got more Korma sauce in small bowl no saucer! For desert l apple crumble ice cream & custard .They don't cater very well for persons who are Gluten or Dairy free. I recomend they should make more tastier meal for those persons. Otherwise everything was good .staff very helpful

Enjoyed yet another fine meal in Apparo. We had a lovely Saturday lunch here with family, celebrating a birthday. Choice was very good, fish, chicken, steak and various veggie options. Also snack items available. Apparo never fails to please, it's a real gem in a rural setting. Would recommend to anyone looking for fine dining at affordable prices.

I love this restaurant. Food always excellent, staff friendly and a lovely clean and modern space. However, the past few times I have eaten here the service has been excruciatingly slow. I don't mind waiting on a Friday or Saturday night when not in a hurry and having a few drinks, but having to wait long periods of time for lunch or when dining with children is not an enjoyable experience. Avoid unless you are dining without children and willing to spend 2 hours dining out. Hopefully the wait time will improve soon!

Heard a lot of good reports about Apparo so decided to book in a table of 2 for dinner on a Friday night for 6:30pm.When we arrived the restaurant wasn't overly busy with about 4 other tables occupied with 2 or 3 people.We were sat behind the till & bar & were completely forgotten about. Took 30 minutes to order as the staff must have forgotten we where there & we couldn't make eye contact with them as we were hidden away. The restaurant is seriously understaffed, particularly for a Friday night.The decor & outdoor areas where beautiful. Just don't know if I'd return!!

We were stunned to find such an excellent family restaurant in very rural charming Draperstown at the foothills of the largely unknown but well-worth exploring Sperrin Mountains.

Went here with such excitement and starving, firstly the restaurant was pretty empty but they where sticking us at a table beside a big pillar, I said I wasn't sitting there so they gave us another table, which was fine, another couple came in and they put them right on top of us and place empty it was early evening, tables very close together, again greed I think trying to squeeze as many people in as possible. I ordered the Apparro chicken, it was terrible all dried up with no cheese inside as it was that burnt, waited about 40 min from starter to get main course. They did ask if I wanted another one, but my partner and I where sharing a selection of sides and I didn't want to wait ages again, ordered a dessert to make up for the main course and they never even offered it free. Service terrible, food over-rated, too expensive!!! Never be back...

My boyfriend and I went for dinner here on Sunday night. The service was quick and the food was lovely. I am the biggest creme brulee fan in the world and the only thing negative I would say was that the sugar top wasn't thick or hard, it had obviously just been done before it came out of the kitchen and made it look like a lasagne. Overall, we had a great experience due to the starters and main and therefore will be back again!

Ate here both nights of our stay. Our party had a mixture of steaks, chicken, fish and everything was perfectly cooked and wonderfully presented. Good value for money in a lovely setting.

Great value for the room which was tastefully decorated food in the restaurant was good value and excellent, staff where lovely and very helpful wish i had more time would have loved to stay over longer .

I had beautiful meal here last night the steak was cooked to perfection actually the best steak I ever had. My mum enjoyed her pork fillet, the homemade sticky toffee pudding was simply lush...we will be back really lovely atmosphere and great service with friendly staff !

Three of us enjoyed an excellent lunch. Good service but not pressurised. Impressed that when I asked if I could have Yorkshire pudding with my roast beef it was forthcoming though not on the menu. Would go again.

From the outside, this looks like a standard run of the mill restaurant. Inside; totally different. Contemporary casual surroundings with lots of wood and a birds eye view of the kitchen. The food is very very tasty and the service top class. A hidden gem.

I took my sister and her children here for lunch a week ago. I had a caesar salad (main course size), my sister had potato and fennel soup with homemade bread - which was amazing! The children requested pasta with cheese. I had a lovely cappuccino while we waited on our food. The service was good.

We are two deaf people in for lunch. The waiter was hard to converse with also we waited nearly 1 hour for our orders while people after us were served.Also why do people assume we can lipread.

Myself and colleagues ate here last night and were blown away by the quality and presentation of the food. Every morsel of food was consumed with sheer delight! The chefs are a class of their own. It is a absolute shame that there were only 3 waiting staff working on such a busy night and some of them need significant customer service training. To be served water with no glasses, drinks with no ice, food not brought all at once etc is a disservice to the calibre of this restaurant.

you will find the restaurant very quiet during the week but buzzing during the weekend. Food is just 10/10. Scallops are really great foe start, wouldn't really recommend goat chees but everyone has different preferences and vegetarian risotto was best I ever had.

We had a fabulous overnight stay . Fresh scones on arrival .tastefully decorated rooms . Spotlessly clean . Staff were friendly efficent and helpful during our stay . The owner came and introduced himself at dinner . The quality of food was the best we have tasted in a while .. The steak was a fine cut of meat . Breakfast was also of a high standard . I had decided to visit this restaurant based on reviews I'd read on tripadvisor and other sites. I assume the good reviews are written by locals/friends of the owner/staff. The food was ok, nothing more than ok. Service - not enough staff, obviously the owner/manager happy to charge but without providing sufficient staff to service.Really disappointed, drove from Belfast to visit this place expecting a wonderful dining experience. Reality was that it wasnt worth the money, certainly wont be back and will advise anyone who mentions the place to avoid it.So embarrassed I took my family there. Next time its my turn to take them out I will have to go an extra mile to make up for this experience

Purchased a living social voucher! And have since bought another 3!!! 2 for friends & one for myself!!!!! Could not fault it! Great value for money! Gorg rooms! Lovely staff! Good food! I was here this evening fom my dinner I had an amazing experience. Beautiful soup to start fennel and potato with warm wheaten bread and butter followed by a beautiful burger and skinny fries. Great food great service and also great value. Thank you to Mary and all the team.

My girl and myself found this place by chance when travelling to Donegal for a spot of late lunch. On going in we were pleasantly surprised by the decor and the modern design of the place. We were seated and our order taken quite quickly upon arrival. There were three other tables occupied so not at all busy. In order to get lunch over and continue our journey we ordered from the specials board (stir fry and a panini) and the waiter brought us our drink order after a period of time. Then it all went downhill. We were left for ages and no food arrived. After over half an hour the waiter came over to tell us our food would be two minutes. There was no other hot food orders came out from the kitchen in the time before this or afterwards. This waiter throughout our visit spent most of his time with one table and appeared to be socialising and entertaining himself and the girls at this table. After another 15-20 minutes there was still no sign of our food so we decided to enquire with the staff as to when we could expect our food. We were told it was on its way despite no food emerging from the kitchen where TWO chefs could be observed easily. After another period we again queried where our food was but were fobbed off without proper explanation and told it was coming. At this point we had been there over an hour and thought we had wasted enough of our day and lost an hour of our lives we would never get back courtesy of Apparo, so we left. We never even received a proper explanation or an apology for the waste of time. So in conclusion, we cannot comment on the food here as we never got any and would advise anyone thinking of eating here not to, save yourself time and the frustration by going elsewhere. A few miles away we found The Ponderosa and were more than happy with the food, service and hospitality we received there.

I'd heard good things about this restaurant. The food was excellent to be fair, but the service was appalling. We were simply ignored for most of the evening. No menu given to us. Had to ask to give the food order. Drinks order taken after starter had arrived. Plates not lifted after starter. Really disappointed in the service.

I have been here several times but usually for the dinner menu which has not changed since they opened...or so it feels.I had a friend visiting from London and thought that it might be nice to pop in for some lunch. I had my 2 children with me. A 2 year old and a 7 month old.There were a few already seated in the restaurant but I would never have said it was busy. The waitress took our order and I thought that it was pretty simple as it was from the menu nothing added nothing taken away.Anyone with a baby in a restaurant will tell you that you are on borrowed time so we kept the order simple.Several other diners arrived after us and were served pretty promptly. After about 30 mins our food still had not arrived. I was starting to get a bit irate as the 2 year old was hungry and his attention span was weaning. The waitress on duty never thought to advise us that there was a problem or that we would have to wait so long. When the food did arrive I cannot find fault with it. It was tasty and well presented.The child's lunch should have come with a drink which I had to go ask for. When it did arrive it was out of date. I asked for one that was not expired and was given one. There wasn't as much as an apology or a smile from the waitress. Totally void of personally.Following the meal I had to go to the bar again to ask for some coffees.All in all the food was good but the entire experience was let down by the front of house.I most certainly will never be going back which is a pity but it would only a waste of money as I would not enjoy the meal. Management should by now realise that it's not just good enough to rely on reputation and that the food is just one part of the dining experience. I'd sooner have average food in a nice friendly environment.

My husband and i stayed here on a voucher deal and ate 3 times over 2 days. First we had scones and coffee on arrival and it was so warm on a cold day - perfect. We had a 3 course meal later the same day and it was really tasty i had read the reviews and was expecting brasserie/pub grub style but it was more like fine dining the only feedback i have is that if the lights were dimmed and there was background music the atmosphere would be better. All the same great food and a great price. Next morning we had breakfast and it was really fancy on the plate and we were chatting the owner who cooked it and she made us feel really welcome. I will also review the rooms separately. overall i would definitely recommend every aspect of this place and we will hopefully return in the summer for a treat

This has to be one of the best resturants in Northern Ireland, standard of cooking & presentation is excellent from my experience. I have visited often with family, friends and sometimes with work associates and it never fails to impress. Understated and underrated!

My husband and I stayed here for an overnight break. We had a beautiful dinner; lovely tastes and excellent, unobtrusive service. The rooms in this boutique hotel are all different and open onto a lovely, Swiss style wooden patio with stairs to the garden. Super shower room! We enjoyed a walk around the historic plantation town of Draperstown and visited the nearby ancient Beraghbeg standing stones. Our break was a real treat!

This restaurant is by far is one of the best around. The menu is good and there is always something you want to come back and try, the desserts and soups are constantly changing and absolutely gorgeous. Also the early bird is a great value for money with exciting flavours. I love the whole experience of Apparo, have been going for years and never had a bad meal or service. You are always treated like a customer should be :)

Choose from the special festino menu - 2 corses for £10.50, was superb value for money. I had the vegetable and noodle stir fry which was one of the few vegetarian choices on the menu, which was still better than a lot of restaurants. The waitress was really informed about gluten free choices for my younger sister and they were happy to provide my other sister with a kiddy sized portion of prawns. All the food was delicious and the waiters/waitresses provided a great service and replenished the water and juice very quickly. Our bill was just under £60 which was great for a family of 5, including soft drinks, wine, and juice. Lovely atomsphere as well!

Dined here on a busy Saturday evening. We choose from the special festino menu-2 courses £10.50! Great choices on this menu. Our waitress was lovely. My 6 yr old didn't want to eat from kiddies menu so she choose tempura prawns in a Marie Rose sauce as her main, she loved it, even went for more dip! My other wee girl is a coeliac and the waitress was really well informed about the gluten free choices she could make. We had spicy carrot and coriander soup, buttered mushrooms in a creamy bacon sauce served on a slice of wheaten (outstanding) chicken satay and bruschetta with red onions. Mains were steak and onion mash, steak and Guinness pie, melting chicken (gf) & vegetable and noodle stir fry. We had garlic fries, skinny chips, Apparo veg and tobacco onions as sides. Everything was delicious. Water and drinks replenished very quickly. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Our bill came to £59, this included 4 soft drinks, 2 glasses of wine and 2 jugs of juice. This is fantastic value for a family of 5! Highly recommend this superb restaurant.

Lovely surroundings and pleasant staff. I had the apparo chicken which was tender, melt in your mouth. My partner had the pan fried cod which was very tasty. Will be back!
