Antonio's Traditional Fish & Chips in Newark and Sherwood

Tasty food served by a family run business. I visit this fish bar regularly and have been impressed with the food and also how much they support and care for the community around them. They are always ready to support the local, special needs, Newark Orchard School alongside other worthy causes. Well worth a visit!

Popped here for the first time in many years. Nice to see you guys still at Antonios. I don't live near Newark or Balderton so its not like me to go there anymore, but don't let that put you off. They do a good size portion of food and the price is good as well. They were so busy that even though I have known them for 25 years (last time I saw them was then as well to be fair) they didn't notice only because I've changed. But they know the locals and that was obvious to them who they were serving apart from me. :-) I will call again sooner than 25 years this time. I promise :-) I may also bring my boys this time.

It exists! A chip shop that serves proper traditional British fish and chips! Chips as they once were and should be ( before foreign takeaways ruined then) chips - brown, cooked once, chunky, full of real potato, served with scraps if you so wish. The portion size was amazing as well. Served with a smile. I would readily travel out of town the two miles to get these chips. I have to rate this e chips 9.9/10. That's the highest score I have ever given. Most chippies are lucky to get a 5! Whilst most get a 2 or 3!

Selected two mini fish and chips with mushy peas. They were freshly cooked, presented in small recyclable boxes, the portions were very generous and the fish very delicious. Price was very reasonable and the service was friendly and very welcoming. An excellent place to eat after the weekly shop. We will visiting again soon. Excellent

Stopped there on the way back home. Fish,chips and curry sauce. Lovely and hot and tasted amazing. Very friendly service to.

New management truly surprised, quality food/price is amazing, and kebab was delicious! Really good traditional fish&chips, owners really nice and thoughtful. Can’t wait to go again. Everyone loved it, lots of options for everyone!

Battered sausage was cheap and must have been standing for a long time. The batter was like cardboard and soggy at the bottom. Chips came straight out of the frier and full of oil. The paper was dripping from the amount of oil. The mushy peas were watery and tasteless. The whole experience was not nice.

Fabulous proprietor and staff. Called in so my wife could have a night off cooking. Wide ranging menu at reasonable prices. Large portions of quality take away foods. Highly recommended.

Weather's is rubbish, can't be bothered to cook. It's fish Friday, been to Antonio's a few times, but never had a fish. Wow what great feast, lived in Newark over 30 years, has to be the best around.

We’re all big eaters at our house and so are our friends, the portion sizes are brilliant. We spend half the price in here as we do in other chip shops as their prices are cheap too! Delicious chips, can’t beat a tray of chicken meat from there 👌

Not been to Newark for a while. Ordered food from here several times over the past few weeks whilst visiting family who live locally. This place has been many takeaways in the past (anyone remember pizzarama?) this is the best yet. The husband and wife team that run the establishment are super helpful and friendly and are lovely people. I believe they used to run it a few years ago and purchased it back from the people they sold it to. The food is very good; I can attest to the fish, chips and kebabs. The portions are generous (kids chips are more than enough for me and the kebab lasted two meals) They obviously take pride in the food they serve. Good COVID-19 safeguards in place. Highly recommended

Best fish and chips Newark by a mile. Fast and very friendly service. Great portion sizes too. In these difficult times with Covid 19 they've been very considerate with hand wash, lines and a clear one way system. Would highly recommend.

I’m lucky enough to only live round the corner, but wow what a chip shop, the owners make this place absolutely outstanding, the way they are with there customers is brilliant and with kids! The food is yummy, the sizes are amazing I get small chips to feed to adults and 2 toddlers and more than enough, night time they always chuck a few extra things in. Anyway today I went ordered food got home my naughty dog had ate my boys sausage I went back to get him another and said it wasn’t for me ( didn’t want to look greedy) explained what’s happened and he gave my son 2 sausages bless, there customer service skills are amazing, never let me down and I’m sure they won’t either lovely couple, definitely recommend this place :-) we have this almost every Friday I sometimes grab a chip cob when the kids are at school LOL
