What a treat we had tonight at the Antidote Wine Bar. We stopped by right at closing and Chris the owner (and the cheery lady from Brooklyn) were gracious enough to let us have a nice glass of wine. We started chatting and it turned into two glasses and a very friendly and interesting conversation. Thank you Chris and special mention to Eric who was very accommodating after closing time and very professional. We are thinking about going tomorrow night. A real treat.

Nice location, good choice of wine. Sadly, zero atmosphere. Staff weirdly did.not want to communicate even a smile or hello. Menu thrust in hand. Supposed to shut at 11 and a card machine was thrust into face at 9:40 to settle the bill.. all very confusing. Wouldn't return.

They cannot synchronize just a simple order of a glass of wine+ a 3 slice cheese plate. So they last 20 minutes to serve cheese after the wine even if the bar is not full.

BIG SKIIIIIP. Tldr; my sister and I were assaulted here by a staff member. Long story short, the dusty old dude working there is incredibly disrespectful, condescending, and misogynistic. He clearly has some deep rooted issues that he projects onto women. It’s 2024, I truly don’t how people like him remain employed especially in the service sector. I hope this place goes out of business and he ends up on the streets, because that’s where he belongs. Objectively, the wine is overpriced & mediocre + the place is dingy, there are far better spots in London. Again, big skip 🤡

Don’t waste your money - a great selection of wines but the service is atrocious. We were a group of 4 and had some wines by the glass and cheese before ordering a bottle of wine. When the bottle arrived my husband added ice to his glass. The waitress then told us the manager did not allow wines to be consumed with ice and proceeded to take my husband’s glass away (without our consent), tipped it out and brought back an empty glass. When we asked why this had happened, she left and spoke to the manager. The manager could see us and instead of coming in he sent another waiter. The second waiter told us the reason was because the venue only offered wines that were produced in small quantities and they did not want customers to ruin the wine with ice. To compensate us for the full glass of wine the waitress tipped out, he retrospectively offered to charge us the take out price (£25 less) but did not apologise. We finished the bottle and left. For context the bottle of wine was £79. The manager never once came past to speak with us. Whether it’s arrogance or cowardice (or both) it was disappointing, given it was his policy. We were paying for the wine and should be able to enjoy it as we please. If ice would ruin the taste, then tell us vs confiscating the glass. If “wasting” the wine was the concern then surely a glass of wine enjoyed (ice or not) is better than a glass of wine tipped down the drain. Long story short, if you’re looking for good wine, friendly staff and a fun experience - this is not the place. There are plenty of places around that would provide a much better experience.

Unexpected 18£ a glass of white The street and atmosphere were quiet, I asked for recommandation on a glass of white and was offered to taste one. I liked it and did not ask for the price as in Belgium and France, you would be warned when advised an expensive wine. Neither was I asked about the size I wanted. Expensive, to say the least. Even in Norway, I never paid that price for a glass of wine! Then I politally told the waiter that it would have been nice to warn me about the price, to which he did not reply anything. Only to discover after turning my back that the 3 men in the bar were having a good laugh. Sadly I felt tricked and will not.go back there. Lesson learnt

I know that is central London. I know that eating out is expensive now. But £75 for 3 glasses of wine between 2 people and one sliced tomato with 3(!) anchovies on top seems a bit too much. The three glasses we ordered were natural wines, quite simple wines. No complexity or any particular note to add. The last glass was presented as similar to an Argentinian Malbec. We got a natural fizzy chilled red, with poor concentration of flavours. Completely other side of the spectrum. If you want to charge these prices, try to provide what you are offering. Very disappointed!

My partner and I were really excited to visit this wine bar, which is known for its really nice selection of wines. Regrettably, after the bottle of wine was served (also presented with chipped glasses which were changed after we asked to) and some food was ordered, suddenly the emergency building flat’s alarm went annoyingly on for at least 20 to 30 minutes. Further the inconvenience, a staff member informed us that they wouldn’t feel comfortable to serve us the food, because they didn’t know how long the sound of the alarm would have last and consequently, the server offered us to take away the bottle which was already opened and partly poured. Not to mention that one of the staff members, that to us looked in charge of the venue, seemed very stressed and instead of reassuring guests that it was nothing to worry about, he made us feel not welcome because of the issue that he was experiencing. Despite the fact that the alarm is not staff’s fault, and even considering the situation, we didn’t expect any discount. We would have just appreciate a bit more of acknowledgement from the team who didn’t pay much attention to us and our unfortunate and unpleasant experience. The bill was fully charged, without any apology or interest regarding our discomfort.

I rarely add a negative google review but this time I had to. I have been here before and I had quite enjoyed it. Since I was in the area, we decided to go to this place for one glass of wine. We arrived one full hour before closing time, people still being poured wine and enjoying their time. Immediately as he saw me, the owner (or the manager) didn’t even say hi, but made a hand gesture to me saying “we are closed”. I kindly mentioned that on google maps the closing time is supposed to be 11 pm and the owner replied “we close whenever we want to close”. What a “nice” way to address returning costumers. You might have a nice bar in a central London location and might have been running it for years, but there is no excuse or amount of revenue that can justify such an arrogant, patronising and rude behaviour. Both my friend and I were shocked and we will certainly never set foot back in this place. And, please, do people a favour and change your opening/closing times on google maps.

I went there with a pregnant friend. She asked about non alcoholic drinks (0 alcohol wines, sodas, etc.) and the waiter laughed in her face, which was inappropriate. Unfortunately, the only non alcoholic drink they had was water. I understand that this is a wine bar, but I think the staff need to treat those that cannot or choose not drink alcohol with a bit more kindness and sensitivity since they do not know the situation. Additionally, I think they should consider adding a couple of non-alcoholic options to the menu to accommodate those who still go out with their friends, but are unable to taste the wines.

Lovely little wine bar, ideal for a relaxed evening with friends. I didn’t see the upper floor and can’t comment about the food but the very reasonably priced bottle of wine and the cheese board were just what we needed after dinner elsewhere. The only negative is that the night we visited it was rather heavy on the American tourist side, and we really struggled hearing each other amongst people shouting at each other for no particular reason. Will definitely return, perhaps better when tourist season ends.

Popped in for a nightcap. I ordered a glass of red. My friend asked for a Diet Coke, ‘we don’t serve Coca Cola ma’am’. Do you have anything non alcoholic? ‘Water’ can that be sparking? ‘We can do that for you’ A while later a bottle of homemade sparkling water arrived, all of the carbonation disappeared once the bottle was opened. A few minutes later my glass of wine was slammed down on the table, spilling over the side. Once I’d finished the glass, we were asked if we were ordering anything else. I said no, a card machine promptly arrived with a £3 charge for the water and a £1.50 service charge. Service with a smirk. I would not recommend, especially not sitting at the front of the bar, unless you want to leave smelling of vintage cheese which is kept open behind the bar.

Negative experience this evening. The wine selection by the glass has changed and only 4-5 options available. We didn’t want to order a bottle and decided to purchase a Sangiovese. Worst wine I’ve ever had in my entire life. The color was opaque and pink served chilled? When I asked to have the wine changed the waiter refused to take the wine back saying nothing is wrong with the wine which was proof of lack of knowledge and care for both the wine served and the customer. I’ve never once mentioned I want it off the bill I only requested to change the glass with a different wine. Very hostile service and defensive. This place looked lovely And we had read how good the wine was so we thought we would pop in before dinner booked at NOPI for my birthday. Well.... we were made to feel as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit! Both my friend and I approached the door with our masks on and were quickly reprimanded by whom we assumed was the manager to “stand there” as he pointed aggressively to the door. We were seated at the bar, he made out he was doing us a favour as the place was pretty busy. The wine was lovely but every staff member was sullen faced , miserable and none could muster up a smile. Extremely unwelcoming. We had one glass of very good wine and left. What a horrible place.

Prices are ridiculously overcharged, for a bottle of 15£ they ask you for 55£ and so on, so we asked for some beers, mine was expired, they changed it but don't pay too much attention or apologize, they even include us service charge after that( while service didn't exist at all) So definitely not worthy to visit.

Great ambiance, service, food and a very extensive wine list! Oysters were sublime, as were the sea bream, crab and asparagus served along with the best chips ever! We tried two desserts - rhubarb and the choux with hazelnut - both were delicious! Will definitely be going back again!

Nice meal with excellent drinks too. We stayed in the St James Ct. which is attached to this restaurant. Decided to try it for dinner. Very nice meal and service was excellent.
