Unfortunately this restaurant is understaffed and the poor waitress could not cope with the number of dinners. It is good practice to make sure clients at least have beverages whilst they look at the menu.... we have been here previously and the food and service was very good, sadly not tonight, so poor that we left before placing a food order.... the proprietor should consider good service

Went to this restaurant for our valentines meal and we really enjoyed our experience. When we walked in it wasn’t busy and the waitress was very friendly and seated us straight away. The restaurant was dimly lit and was decorated beautifully with French decor. It smelt absolutely gorgeous as we walked in but it wasn’t too overpowering. We sat down at our table and enjoyed listening to the live acoustic musician playing in the background. The food didn’t take too long to come out and was luscious. The duck leg was tender and the steak was cooked exactly how my partner asked. Dog friendly also Overall we had a great experience and would highly recommend, especially for couples. Only downside is they do not take cash payment and add a 12.5% service charge on the bill. But all in all, great restaurant with great staff. Would definitely visit again.

Our valentine's experience was ended rudely and abruptly as we were rushed out so another couple could fill our table. Very clearly overbooked in orde to squeeze as much money as possible from the evening. The food varied in quality, some very nice some average.

Entramos.

This place is my favorite neighborhood spot. Really lovely, romantic atmosphere with beautiful red banquettes and dimmed lights. My date and I sat at a table by the window, clearly the best table for two. To start I had the foie gras, which had the perfect amount for one person, and every bite was delightful. It didn’t need the chutney it came with. For my main, I had the duck leg. Duck confit is one of my favorite dishes, and I’ve had it in multiple places around the world. This was one of the best. Crispy skin, perfect meat underneath, and a bit of gravy to top it off. I can’t stop thinking about it. My date had a mixed salad and the ribeye, both of which he thoroughly enjoyed. The manager recommended a beautiful Bourgogne wine, and his choice was spot on for the meal. We skipped dessert, as we were full from our meal. That said, I wish they had more than 3 options for dessert, as none of them seemed exciting (creme brulée, chocolate fondant, or some Nutella concoction). Service was knowledgeable and attentive but not overbearing. Basically made us feel like we left London for the evening, and that’s just what I need some times.

Went to LPG for a casual dinner with the girls, what a great find! A friend of mine suggested we try it, we werent disappointed! Highlights were the raclette/truffle "toast" (we would have had 2 it was THAT good), burrata was light and fresh and a nice complimentary dish to the richness of the raclette toast; two of us shared the steak and roast potatoes, with a side of french fries with more truffles and parmesan and our veggie friend loved her truffle past. Sadly we had zero room for dessert, but I will be returning here with my husband for date night, and planning to try their cookie dough dessert. Oh, and The French Mistress cocktail is deceptively strong, despite being so refreshing and light. If you get a chance to go, this place is a must!

We made a reservation at the only slot available, 9.30 pm. Someone called later to say we had to move it to 9.45 pm. We decided to meet earlier and have drinks at the bar next door. At 9.45 pm we are paying to go to the restaurant and someone appears in the bar asking if we have a reservation for the restaurant and what time... We say the reservation is for now, bear in mind the reservation was confirmed on an email by TopTable. He said ok.. Let me check because sometimes the tables ... He didn’t finish his sentence. He disappears next door and doesn’t come back. We pay for our drinks and go to Les Petits Gourmets. We are just standing there for a good 10 mins and no one says anything or approach us! I am wondering don’t they mind 3 people standing next to the diners and waiting, in a place that is smaller than a closet? Clearly not... I approach the chap who came to the bar before and I ask about our table. It is almost 10 pm by now.. he says the table is not available. I ask how long? He says, I don’t know. Aaaand that’s it. He didn’t even offer us drinks at the bar or let us know of waiting time or even had the decency to let us know the table will be late in the first place so we don’t leave the other bar. So at 10 pm we had to go and look for another restaurant and of course most of them were closed at that time. Completely ruined our Saturday night. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time restaurant staff has been so rude and indifferent. Clearly, they don’t need customers. And guess what, not even an apology. I understand that the staff is not experienced enough to handle situations like this, but maybe the owners should invest in some customer service training as you don’t even get this service in the UK in food markets or McDonalds. Can’t comment on the food I’m

Walking by this place, it is impossible not to stop and stare and snap a picture. By day it's a touch of spring in the middle of a grey London day, with its beautiful flower facade. Late one eve on a midweek day we turned up at LPG for dinner. We were told that the kitchen was still open, and as long as we would order fast, we would be served. We did so, but half way through the main course (still half steak on our plates) we were told if we wanted to order last drinks, due to alcohol licensing. So it was that time in the eve, not too late. We told them that we were fine for drinks. 1 min later (literally), the person in charge grabbed a chair & joined us at the table, sitting between us, like if he was part of our group. And placed the bill together with the wireless card machine on the table. We were still half way, so we asked what was happening. He made up a excuse linking the "no further drinks" decision with the fact that he needed to close the day's accounts. We told him that we were still eating the main course, and that we had not ordered the bill. After an unpleasant argument, he did not budge, forcing us to pay while still finishing the main course. The reality was that we were the last people in the restaurant & he wanted to go home. Great customer service ... not!

What makes this place is the restaurant decor and atmosphere. Could be one of those little gems hidden in Montmartre. The staff was very nice, smiley, and accommodating. Food needs improvement. I had a cheese platter, very large plate with only very very small pieces of cheese. The main was a poulet normand ( portion was decent for a lady but a man would have struggled). The chicken was too dry and chewy. The fries that came with it too soggy. I tried a couple of red ( Merlot), first choice was good second wasn't. A rather pricey wine list with I'd say as a French person could have been better chosen.

Walk in here, and you will disappear into a cosy little French adventure without having to face the Eurostar. If I want escargot, I need the backdrop to be dark velvets, deep cushions, and a little Serge Gainsbourg in the background. My wife and I have been here twice now and while the menu is a bit limited, and you will need patience as it's a tiny hard working kitchen, this all suits us perfectly because it's French, very French. There is some excellent Bordeaux on the wine list at around £40, and worth every penny. The Friday night live music is becoming legendary to those in the know. I too am a local to this restaurant and this was the first time I had eaten there. I ordered the scallops and avocado and the poulet Normand. The fries that came with the chicken were soggy and very unpleasant. The side order of spinach was not drained.. it sat in about an inch of liquid in serving bowl. It was gritty. The Normand sauce was bland. The atmosphere and decor were fine but lead one to expect better food than that. It was unfortunate that I could hardly here my companion due to a noisy neighbouring table but realise this is just unlucky. Service was great. Left restaurant feeling slightly dispeptic.

I have just returned from this restaurant and am embarrassed that I took my friend there. There were quite a lot of starters and desserts but only 6 main courses, 2 prawn, 1 cod, 2 steak and a risotto. We both had the bavette with fries and salad in desperation at this boring menu! Unbelievably the chef couldn't even cook this adequately! My steak was almost raw and incredibly chewy, the fries were burnt and very stale tasting - possibly refried as they were hard and almost black! The salad - just a few leaves- was possibly the best thing on the plate along with the knob of herb and garlic butter on top of the steak. I gave up half way through and when the waiter asked how it was I told him and he said there was a problem with the meat as he had it at lunch time!! He took mine off the bill but my friend was more stoical and said nothing although she agreed it was not good! Why serve sub standard food when you are aware of its poor quality? It was the worst restaurant meal I have ever had and most definitely will not be going back!

Admittedly we had been at the cricket all day at Lords, so we were a little 'lubricated', should we say. But, after a day of drinking magnums (note the plural) of veuve clicquot and eating £8 sausage rolls we decided it was time for a proper sit down meal. We stumbled on les Gourmets des Ternes and decided to eat there. We ordered, we put the world to rights, we ate and then we tried to pay. The bill arrived and we politely asked for the water to be removed from the tab. 'You are so cheap!', was the waiters response as he scurried off to no doubt spit on our revised cheque. On reflection I have to admire his strength of conviction here, not least because it's probably something I would say if I was in his position and worked in the service industry. But fortunately, I know where my strengths lie, which is why I sit in an office, at a desk, interacting only with my computer for 8 hours a day.Maybe this chap should ponder over a career change too? So my point is, my friends and I are a lot of things; loud, abrasive, annoying at times...but CHEAP?! CHEAP?! Cheap we are not.

On the upside the room is lovely as are the staff. On the downside...This is an expensive clip joint. Food that has no place in any half way decent restaurant with cheap ingredients badly cooked and presented. Six snails as a starter, one of them too gritty to eat, another missing from its shell. So four snails. No sauce to mop up, which was as well given that it came accompanied by the world's smallest bread basket. Two slabs of pate taken out of a packet and dumped unceremoniously on a plate. Tough steak, dreadful, soggy, greasy chips. A creme brûlée that tasted only of egg. The most basic food utterly messed up by an incompetent chef. Prices aren't bad, but way over the top for this sort of canteen grub. And you can't even compensate with a few drinks. The short, badly chosen, extortionate wine list is a disgrace. £50 for some paint stripper, fifth rate claret that I could pick up for under a tenner. There are half a dozen better restaurants within a stones throw of this place. Avoid.

They advertise sirloin (aloyau) for one or two people (GBP 23 or GBP 45) - I asked them how big the single portion was since my 15-year old daughter wanted a bit and the waiter promised to divide it - we then received two plates with portions of potatoes and a separate dish with steak in thin slices. We asked them whether this was for one or two and they assured us that it was for one person - then when the bill came - yes, you've guessed it - we were charged for two people. The food itself is not terrible, but this kind of low trick tends to spoil the appetite.

The steak though cooked to perfection was very tiny. The potatoes were burnt. The cheese was perfect but the portion tinyThe wine was good in quality. The price was way too expensive for the amount of food provided and for burnt potatoes

Really lovely ambience but a bit noisy ,feels like in one of those "old meets new " little restaurant in the heart of 10th arrondisement in Paris. There was live music after 9pm when we went on a Friday eve after the Chelsea Flower Show. mushroom skewers and green salad are okay , not exciting enough. scallops dish is well cooked, chicken Normandy is my favourite , French tiramisu is yummy. It is a bit pricey for what it is. Overall, I think it is a good experience and would recommend this restaurant to anyone who do not mind eating in a noisy environment . I would definitely take my friends there again.

We found this restaurant by chance having missed out on seats at the BBC recording at the nearby Maida Vale studios and wanted to have a nice meal as a consolation prize. This meal and the atmosphere and service in the restaurant really fit the bill - delicious food, unobtrusive but friendly waiting staff. It was a Friday evening and we hadn't booked, but although we were originally given a time limit for our meal, we were then 'allowed' to stay on to enjoy a dessert. I don't live locally but if I did, this would become a favourite place to eat.

Went there over a year ago and it was clearly overpriced. They now refreshed the concept, change menu and few other bits.Much more like nice local restaurant now more in line with what the area needed.

It was so happy when I found this little lovely looking French Brasserie tuck in a lovely street of Maida Vale. Hungry got in, and loved the ambience. I thought to give myself a treat with some French steak and pomme frites. It arrives... Steak is white, tasteless, badly cut and therefore chewy. The Pomme frites were my first disappointment, soggy, oily and uneatable. The lovely waitress changed it for me. I ordered a chicken fillet in coconut sauce and rice. It was average, eatable to certain degree. Sauce watery, rice also watery and the filet was also cut and somehow not tender as it should be. What is going on here?! The glass of wine I asked was the most meagre portion (50cl) then the bill arrived and if I had not noticed, they would have overcharged me for the glass. At £17.50 or more per plate!!! At least cook it well! Get a French cookery book and learn how to do it right. Please change the chef as you will just go down under and it is such a lovely sweet little place...

After not being opened at lunchtimes in the past,it was great that they have now opened at weekends for brunch/lunch.Enjoyed a wonderful brunch with four friends. The food was very good, beautifully cooked poached eggs, eggs cocotte.cr,Monsieur.We all had a different choice and each one was excellent.Service friendly and efficient,a little slow ,but we were not in a rush.Think there is just one chef,so we would not expect five different dishes to arrive quickly. Can t wait to return for dinner...just hope they do a veggie option.Defo return.

Living nearby I was curious to pay here (by the way, the restaurant is called 'Les Petits Gourmets), as a restaurant scene in Maida Vale is quite good. Sadly this was the biggest disappointment so far. To be fair, the ambience is very nice and vibrant, and service is friendly. However the food is very bad. I am not sure if it is the cooking, or the quality of the ingredients, or both? The fish and the chicken were do badly overcooked, with no flavour, stringy texture. The garnitures as bland as well. It comes across as a French restaurant for those who have never experienced French brasserie type food. It's completely overpriced for what it serves. The good thing is - there are so much better restaurants in the neighbourhood, at a similar price or even cheaper.

Always a wonderful welcome at this place, whenever it's open (worth checking times as it can be confusing and irregular). The food is freshly prepared and the super-helpful waiter is willing and able to give helpful and worth recommendations for the best dishes each day. Hard to beat their steak dish with fries and selection of various sauces (pepper a favourite) and any dessert you like...:) there are also interesting authentic French touches to the menu, and the ambiance is so true to that one might expect in a Parisian bistro. Continued success to this gem of a place which is by far the best dinner available in the immediate area. Congratulations! MC

I would recommend to any Frenchmen in London who feel homesick to visit this charming restaurant of Maida Vale. The vibes, the staff & the young owner "Max" will bring to your plate a taste of France that will remind you good memories. The wine list is also very good, don't forget to ask for recommendations. Perfect fit when you drink a quality wine with your girlfriend while hearing live piano music. A must-go..!

Despite being a charming little restaurant with lovely waiters the food was atrocious! Foi gras was tasteless, ice cold and came with burnt slices of toast. Both the bavette and beef bourguignon were water logged, the bourguignon lacked any seasoning, no wine and the bavette was probably the worst cut of meat I've ever tasted. Our sides arrived after we'd finished our main courses and the potatoes were all cold but had been burnt and again, lacked any seasoning. Sadly we couldnt wait to pay the bill and leave and our final shock was the horrendously high price we had to pay. My partner is French and we live between London and Paris and I have sadly never tasted food as poor as this. Such a shame as it could have become our new local.

The dining room is charming and French, with a fire keeping out the winter chill, and red velvet banquettes along the walls. The menu looks almost dull, with little explanation of the dishes. But as in a traditional restaurant in Paris, that's the job of the waiter, and the food turns out to be more interesting than the menu suggests. The foie gras starter was perfectly comme il faut, and my chicken main course was notable for its extraordinarily creamy sauce with a fair slug of brandy in it (I think), and delicious mushrooms. There is no concession to recent trends towards lighter fare, and the kitchen must get through an awful lot of (top-quality Normandy) cream and butter. The service started well, but became more erratic as the restaurant filled up - there was no sign of the green beans we ordered, but when we pointed this out, they couldn't have been faster to remove them from the bill. The wine was excellent, and seemed unusually good value by London standards. There was a piano in the corner, and a notice on the table outside suggesting that there would be a pianist on at 7.30 - but no sign of one by the time we left at around 8.30, so I'm not sure what that was about. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for the food and wine, though.

We visited this lovely Bistro for the first time last night and the two young men who run this Bistro could not have done more to make our evening really enjoyable. The food was delicious. There is a small menu but full of lovely dishes.Lots of French customers - always a good sign.Although this was out first visit we were treated like long lost friends. We were made to feel very welcome and our every wish was granted !On Saturday nights at 8.30pm a pianist and singer appear and sing Latino songs making the atmosphere even more jolly.Brilliant food and service and excellent value - 3 courses, bottle of excellent Bordeaux and water - for three of us with service £117.30.I can thoroughly recommend this lovely local Bistro.

Everything about this restaurant is first class. We arrived towards the end of lunchtime but we were welcomed with a smile and it was no problem for us to be found a table. The atmosphere is very French and relaxed. The service was excellent, the red table wine was better than most restaurants "fine wine" selection, the bread was delicious and the food.....we had the beetroot salad and deep fried camembert to begin and sea bass which was all absolutely perfect. No hesitation in recommending this restaurant 100%

This review is about 'Les Petits Gourmets' which has opened since Les Gourmets Des Ternes moved to Knightsbridge.I visited here on Friday evening with my husband and the in laws. We had an early reservation at 7pm so weren't too surprised that no one else was in the restaurant when we turned up. The waiter took our coats and sat us down very quickly and also brought the menus quickly too. The service was great when ordering and getting the drinks. The food wasn't amazing and it wasn't that reasonably priced either. As the restaurant got busier the service got worse as there were only two people serving. it was disappointing.

A French Bistro from the 1970's. Celeriac remoulade as a starter by jove. Classic simple dished like boeuf bourguignon Reasonably well cooked. Expensive for what it is, especially the wine; but it is London and not much competition locally.

Charming restaurant seemingly filled with lots of real French people and with a great atmosphere, with good (but not great) French food, reasonable service, but very expensive for the quality of the food.

The atmosphere in this small Bistro is charming but the presence of only 1 waiter for 16 guests last evening was absurd. It suffers from a lack of service, and attention to detail due to understaffing. The charge of £5.50 for a large bottle of Evian water plus service charges is way too high for anywhere let alone a small local neighbourhood restaurant of this description. Regarding the food itself the starters of Beetroot Salad and Lentil Salad at £4 each were in reality just cut up beetroot and boiled lentils. No salad whatsoever!! We were disappointed also by the very small portion of grilled sea bass albeit it was cooked nicely. The meal for 2 people with no wine and no desserts was £60 - very expensive in our opinion .

I am a french who live in London for 2 years now, and i always looked for a good French restaurant, i found it. In fact I've been there 4 or 5 times now, and always well surprised. Excellent food, which is real French food, waiters are friendly and nice, the restaurant looks beautiful and we can feel a cozy atmosphere. As a French, I recommend you this restaurant and particularly the "piano night".

I went to this restaurant with my girlfriend , I was pleasantly surpised by a WARM welcome from the staff, they had got rid of our coats and we were comfortably installed in our seats. It really is THE perfect restaurant to take his wife to dinner. The wine list is decent and the wines are very good, really I swear !compared to other restaurants that claims " french " these are really scams!Afterwards we ordered our meals, my girlfriend took a succulent cod melted in the palate with a good choice of spices, then me well on classic I took a steak blue cooked with chips with sauce accompaniment the famous home pepper sauce. The deserts "creme brulée" were perfects burned enough haha. And surprise !At the end they gave us one of them old Armagnac and we laughed with everyone in the restaurant the staff were really funny, thing which just made our night better. And then we left with the smile. We will come back Le Gourmet des Ternes.

I work day and night so my life is pretty much a mess and what I need in my free time is a place just like this.Perfect location situated in the heart of little Venice, I have been well greeted by a French young gentleman which after I found out is the owner named Max, in this cosy and warm french restaurant. I sat down with my date and after not even a minute they brought us a wellcome drink, so I just felt I was like being in a resort on holiday when u forget all your problems and all you have to do is relax!the place is really characteristic with low light that creates the right atmosphere, and most of everything the sound of the piano in the back ground is a key element of this place. the service is a 5 star, and if you are a meat lover oh la la..this is the right place!.the plates presentation is luxury but also traditional at the same time , I had the feeling of my mother serving us dinner on a Sunday in my city in south of Italy , Nalles. I don't know if I will have the time to come back every week but this is by far one of my new favourite restaurant on london and I can't wait to go back there!!!5 Star!

We used to live 100 metres from this restaurant and thought that we must know it when friends booked there. We knew the street but the restaurant was new to us only having visited it's more widely known sister in Paris. Sin lugar a ninguna duda, el café que nos ofrecieron fue el peor de nuestra vida. Podrías echar el café dentro de un azucarero y seguiría estando malo. A pocos metros hay opciones muchísimo mejores.

Great ambiance, service, food and a very extensive wine list! Oysters were sublime, as were the sea bream, crab and asparagus served along with the best chips ever! We tried two desserts - rhubarb and the choux with hazelnut - both were delicious! Will definitely be going back again!
