The afternoon tea is great. Based on this we came back for a lunch and ordered fish and chips which I have to say is one of the worst fish and chips I have had. Barely any fish, mainly very hard batter and chips tasted like yesterday's. Service is great though. I will be back for an afternoon tea! But probably not for a meal

The Lancashire rarebit and sausage buttie at Annie’s is a comforting, hearty delight. The rarebit boasts a rich, tangy cheese topping with a hint of mustard, perfectly complementing the thick bread. The sausage buttie is equally satisfying, with juicy, well-seasoned sausages tucked into a soft thick toasted bread served with a pot of brown sauce. Ideal for a breakfast or lunch. Definitely recommend.

I chose the cheese pie with chunky chips and mushy peas. No chunky chips, peas were from a tin, the pie looked like a chip shop Hollands pie. Manager gave me my money back. My companions had hotpot. They said it was OK. Personally looking at their food I thought the meat looked like large pieces of beef but the menu said lamb. They didn't know. I would have coffee here but not a main meal again.

Booked for my husbands 74th birthday. Ordered grilled skewer trio of consisting of king prawns. Steak and chicken with garlic butter. And chunky chips. Mine was the hotpot. And green beans. I ordered side of chunky chipe Chips were not chunky bitty frozen chips. Hotpot had 3 slices of potato on top. King prawns were small flat looking like they came out freezer. Garlic butter was spilt over the plate and table as it was served. We have eaten here a few times but this was the worst time. It spoilt my husbands birthday. We spent over £100 and felt we would have been going to wetherspoons. We complained and got £2.80 off bill.

I chose the Sunday beef dinner, I had high expectations for the meal; especially after waiting an hour for the food to be served however, I was disappointed to find that nothing on the plate was fresh, its was all frozen food, the mashed potatoes, were clearly from a packet. While the presentation was appealing the taste is comparable to a Toby carvery. The standard beef roast, priced at £19.50 without mashed potatoes, which required an additional £4 for them , I do not recommend this dish , the place is nice and I’ve been before but just for a coffee and cake. The serving staff were lovely

No food after 90 minutes and the 4 of us ended up leaving because of it. We ordered 2 salads, a burger and fish and chips. All of this takes less than 10 minutes to cook. It was clear there was an issue in the kitchen, and front of house and the kitchen weren’t communicating with each other. Outside of this, the service was poor regardless, and they weren’t transparent about timescales or what was happening with us. Kept promising it would be ready in a few minutes. Overall, extremely amateurish and the poorest dining experience I’ve had in Manchester since moving here 10 years ago. I hope there are lots of learnings taken from tonight’s service

Nice looking place, but poor quality food. Charged 24 00 for 3 skewer kebabs of, supposedly king prawn, steak and chicken. What came was 3 small dried out shrimp on a stick, chewy steak and dry chicken with some anaemic fries on the side. Couldn't eat it. When we complained the staff offered me it for half price, but after some negotiation they took the meal off the bill... hence the average, not bad, staff review. Massively overpriced cafe food really.

What a shame the food was so poor. I came the week before for afternoon tea and it was fab . I booked lunch on the strength of this. I ordered the hotpot and when it finally came after a long wait I thought they had served us a starter. The dish was more like a ramekin dish, a few slices of potato and I mean a few and I wasnt sure what was underneath it, some kind of lamb, maybe one piece. It was served with the tiniest bit of red cabbage and cold green beans and a bit of carrot. I was still hungry so had jam roly poly (dry) and a tiny bit of custard. Really? wint be back.

Very disappointed yesterday. We always book a few months in advance online. plus we rung & pre ordered the Christmas lunch. We’ve been visiting you for four years now when we come over to the Christmas markets. The food was shocking we waited well over an hour. You don’t always mind the waiting time with it been a busy time of year. And you pull it off with nice food. Unfortunately the food was cold poorly presented and the quality wasn’t good. Just felt like it had been sat all day on a hot plate and put on a new plate covered in greavy!!! We did complain to the manager he was nice and we did get a discount off our £175 bill. The visit has put us off booking next year sadly.

Excellent restaurant for breakfast, lunch, tea or dinner. We went on the recommendation of a gastronomic tourism blog, as they served Hotpot, a typical Manchester dish. It was very good, served with green beans and carrots. We also tried the cod and sweet potato fishcake. Very tasty too, but it's true that we expected them to be larger. You can see it in the photo I attached. In general, the site is very good. It is elegant, has a very extensive menu and the service is good.

Went to Annies’s for my Mums 75th Birthday. Loved everything about it. We had Annie’s lamb hotpot which was done to perfection (the lamb melted in your mouth) to the gorgeous desserts - jam roly poly and custard and honeycomb and chocolate cheese cake. It’s not often you go to a restaurant now where you feel that the staff are genuinely happy to be working there. Everybody from Emily and Paddy who looked after us while dining to Vincent who served us drinks afterwards, to the Manager. Recommend this place 10/10 and very reasonably priced.

The staff are all real nice and the place ha s super cozy vibe and look. The only downsides were the food. We went for the beef roast but they were out unfortunately, we were fine with the chicken anyhow. It comes with roast potatoes, some seasonal veg, some stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding. The potatoes were very hard and the stuffing was hard and burnt. We talked to our waiter who was really kind and got us another serving which was a bit better but the potatoes were still very hard. To be honest the meat was pretty dry too... really sad about that as the place looked amazing and everyone was kind. Might have just been a slow night so the potatoes were left out too long? It happens, give the place a go yourself and hopefully it's better but I can't say I'll be going again.

Our first trip to Annie's won't be our last. We were served by Kate and Vincent who are both good at their jobs, making guests feel comfortable, welcome and attending to their needs. We had afternoon tea in the main restaurant which was delicious except for the slightly stale bread on two of our sandwiches - I cannot recommend the cheese and onion highly enough - the lack of butter for our scones and rather small portions of clotted cream. The restaurant was surprisingly busy with tables being reused only minutes after the previous customers had left which brings me to a couple of suggestions for your own visit to Annie's - Make sure to give yourself LOTS of extra travel time (we were stuck in crawling traffic for over half an hour whilst covering roughly a mile along the crescent on a wet n windy october saturday! barely making our scheduled time slot). Book online prior to your visit (you don't pay until the end of your meal and you're guaranteed a table once you've booked). Tips - you can ask to swap sandwiches if you dislike one on that days menu, and feel free to ask for extra clotted cream. Additionally, if you can't eat all the cakes - it's surprising how filling a few finger sandwiches and a scone can be - ask for a box to take them with you when you leave.

Our order came promptly and didn't have to wait long. The food was outstanding and tasted very nice. High quality food and just enough to fill your stomach. We have been to Annie's a couple of times before, but not for a while so we decided to go for breakfast before doing some shopping. We were quite disappointed to see they had moved the restaurant downstairs with no lift available, I am mobility challenged so my husband said it was 2 small flight (24 steps in total), I decided to try and navigate the stairs using my sticks. When eventually downstairs we were welcomed by a member of staff and immediately taken to a table. The atmosphere, decor and mood of the dining room was beautiful, although the music was a little high. There was a l9vely menu to choose from. We decided on the Traditional English Breakfast. It was amazing! The flavour of the sausages and mushrooms were delicious. In fact everything was cooked to perfection. It was a lovely visit with super food. Delicious and I love a ready made all in shredded salad (non of that digging through lettuce for ages 🙄)head downstairs to the piano bar. Cute decor in here but maybe time for a refresh? First impression at the entrance/looking through the window is like a pub (nothing wrong with that but compared to other restaurants in town might be missing out and it was so quiet today) Suggestion you put up photos of inside on the front window and the sandwich board you have on the roadside. 8/10 👜handbag restaurant review for lunch today. Cute lounge feel type of restaurant. The service was impeccable. It was a bit difficult to find due to the bad lighting in the area. The decor feels dated, especially the carpet and vines hanging from the ceiling - gives off major 80s vibes but I suppose it’s targeted to what they believe a crowd of theatre goers are. I had the rib eye steak and - i probably should have stuck to the golden rule of “if you want medium ask for medium rare, if you went well done ask for medium, etc” however they were quick to rectify this and I was happy with that! The drinks are lovely and over all I didn’t feel rushed by the staff. Everyone was doing their own thing and you could grab the waiter’s attention at any time. I would certainly return to this place with a friend for some tea/ coffee just to get away from the rustle and bustle of Manchester.

Afternoon Tea for four, for our Mother’s Day celebration. We were booked in very easily for 11.30hrs and seated in the Tea room as my elderly mother has walking difficulties. Harry, our waiter for the day was so welcoming, pleasant and courteous. He took our orders swiftly and our Afternoon Teas were served soon after. Harry always attended our table to ask if we needed anything, like more drinks or sauces for the chips we ordered to share, which were lovely by the way. The sandwiches were very tasty and the cakes also. The Fruit Scone and Fruit Tart are to die for and we couldn’t finish it all so Harry kindly offered some takeaway boxes for our leftovers. Overall a lovely afternoon tea and we will definitely be recommending Annie’s to all our friends and family. Can’t wait to visit again.

Visited for Mother's Day. (Five of us). Been before for great afternoon tea and evening meal. This again was lovely visit, my 85 year old mum loved her breakfast and mimosa. We requested seating in upstairs tea room for ease of access for mobility issues this was accommodated. I emailed a few times as well over various issues, 🙄 (Harry very patient 😁). Breakfast great, staff great, lovely place. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Returning to Manchester and this beautiful restaurant after 10 years, it was wonderful to not only find Annie's alive and thriving, but as good, if not better than it was before. The staff were aware of our arrival and treated us like old friends. Food was amazing and this experience was the perfect way to start our Manchester experience. Highly recommend!!

So disappointing! We were really looking forward to trying Sunday Lunch here, the reviews are so good. The restaurant decor, is very miss match, but I was prepared for that after looking at the website, and after all we came for the delicious food, so...

Food, atmosphere and service were 10/10. We ordered the whipped feta with sourdough, toasted focaccia, patatas bravas and the baked chorizo. O. M. G. It was fantastic. Food was UNBELIEVABLE!! Extremely reasonable price and we were extremely pleased.

We first phoned for a takeaway here 2 weeks ago when our regular chippy was closed. We've been so happy, we're staying! They were immediately helpful & friendly on the phone, reassuring us that their chips are cooked separately in veggie-friendly oil (rare, but important as one of us is vegan). We phoned around 7.30 (having phoned 3 other unsuitable places before!) & they were due to close at 8.0 but were relaxed and happy to allow us time to get there. The chips were delicious, even towards the end of service. The fish batter (for the one of us that eats fish) was crunchy & tasty and the fish (huge haddock) was succulent. Mushy peas were lovely too. The cost was reasonable and the portions were generous. Our experience has been consistently good on 3 consecutive occasions, and we're staying! Highly recommended! Thanks! 👍👍👍

TNQ serves beautiful food in a great setting - not a huge empty room like some local places. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Good selection of starters, mains, desserts and drinks to accompany. Highly recommended.

The woman serving me (Tracy) made a snarky and racist remark about my background, despite being a person of colour herself! very unprofessional of her, i hope she's aware this is not okay despite of what others may have thought of her food. Other than that i have no complains with the food its all decently priced and up to par.
