Went with our granddaughter for breakfast this week. Had 2 small breakfasts and bacon and scrambled eggs for our little one. The food was really good, best since I don’t remember when? Will definitely be our place of choice, great cooking, great flavour, served quickly an amazing value. Thank you ladies.

Popped in for breakfast. Had a huge breakfast cooked just how I asked. Very friendly service, went out of their way to save me money despite already very far prices. I had two eggs (cooked ideally), two well done sausages just as I asked for, two black puddings (wasn’t crazy about them), two bacon, beans, canned tomatoes, brown toast and tea for about 5 quid. Great deal and food.

We ordered toasted sandwich and mushroom omlette. We were not asked to pay when we ordered. The toasted sandwich was soft and soggy underneath. The hot chocolate was watery. Halfway through our food, a staff member requested we pay for our food. She got quite agitated when I suggested that we finish our food first. Maybe she though we would try to sneak out without paying. The sticky menus had food stains. Not a very welcome atmosphere.

Good option for a fry up but not worth a detour. Old school breakfast joint, order at the counter for either takeaway or at one of the tables. Most of the food traditional breakfast, I had bacon, sausage, egg, beans and black pudding. Everything was good but nothing to write home about.

Came in on a Saturday morning for a fry up. We’ve been to Annie’s many times so know the food is excellent & great value. It’s our place of choice for a good brekkie. Reason I’m leaving a review now is we were really impressed with the procedures put in place & that our details were taken for Track & Trace. Most places just leave you to do it yourself. Perspex screens between the booths, all in all it feels very safe & comfortable. Thanks Annie’s !!

One of the best little breakfast/lunch cafes in the city. It’s usually quite busy considering it’s location. Woolston can be quiet in the mornings sometimes. The staff are very friendly, even more so towards regular customers. The food is always very good and I’ve never had a single problem,

There's lots to like about Annies. There's a cosy feel as soon as you enter. The staff are chatty and friendly. And there is upbeat radio music on the go.It feels like a traditional workers cafe. Portions are large and tasty, offering good value for money. We compared it with Woolston Cafe which we visited last week (but which doesn't appear to be on Tripadvisor), and we felt there's a few things Woolston Cafe do better or differently. Woolston Cafe offers a wider range of foods. There's a calmer, quieter atmosphere, and it feels a little more upmarket. I think these things are swings and roundabouts, and while Woolston Cafe may offer a greater range of food, Annies is better value and more homely. Each to their own.

Beautifully cooked and in good time. Tasty and filling -as others have commented 'everything a greasy spoon should be'. Great variety of foods, good value for money too. Friendly and speedy service, and much quicker than the local competition at getting it on the table. Now, you're waiting for the but 'cause you know there's one coming..... Ok. This would be my breakfast café of choice but for one major issue -the lingering and very strong smell of fried food you take with you when you leave. The place is small, the seating is back to back (comfortable though) and the ceiling is low. This adds up to very strong odour of fried food and this for me spoiled the experience. I had to wash every item of clothing I wore to breakfast. Now if this is not an issue for you then please go and enjoy a really good value and tasty meal, because you will certainly get one. But, if the prospect of coming away smelling strongly of fried bacon and sausages (because you will) then you might want to choose another venue. I've gone with the best compromise -get take aways!

I visited this cafe this morning having found out that it was almost the only 'greasy spoon' near to the docks for a Cunard pickup early on a Sunday. It opened at 8am and the full English breakfast was truly huge. The cost of this was a mere £5.50 which included a mug of tea. The staff were very accommodating and I could not fault the cleanliness despite previous reviews. It is NOT meant to be high class but met all the needs of this type of business. The food was very good but with two improvements it would have been a five star rating. The two things I noticed were the breakfast platter it was served on was not heated, which, with such a large plate of food was necessary and as a result the baked beans were almost cold. Despite this I will definitely be returning on my next foray to the area.

Annie's does what it says on the tin and is very good value for money. The staff are fun and it's ideal for a breakfast.Although they don't do veggie sausages, they do do a good veggie breakfast. They also have great cheese toasted which are only £1 something!I'm disappointed to see that someone has been moaning on the reviews about a mans clothing and smell. If it bothers you - just don't sit next to him. He has as much right to be there as you - whether he disgusts you or not. You don't know his circumstances - we aren't talking about the ritz. This is a cafe for locals - and it's Annie's decision - don't be threatening with losing custom. Just sit at a different table...

It goes without saying, that seeing a man who have visible urine stains down their clothing and stinking to high heaven of urine, is not the right recipe to enjoying your food. I was close to being sick, no one should have to put up with that. Luckily today, I was able to move, otherwise I would of asked for a refund and left. No one should have to endure that stench! This is not acceptable.Unless individuals such as this are banned from your cafe, you will lose two very faithful customers and many more.I hope you will have a policy in place to ensure that all customers can eat there food in the pleasant environment and urine free.

Standard workers caff. The place has some good points and some bad points. Some aspects are a mater of opinion, and how much you like Annies will depend on your viewpoint. What some will see as a plain, uninspired, limited menu, others may see as offering honest and popular food without the needs for frills. The menu offers basic sandwiches and jacket potatoes along with simple fry ups with standard ingredients - eggs, sausages, chips, beans, etc. The decoration is cheap "humorous" posters of the You Don't Have To Be Mad To Work Here But It Helps variety, and one about flying a-holes as well. Even those who like the place will say it's cramped. Chairs and tables are close together. so its a bit uncomfortable even when the place is mostly empty. Place is clean. It's not neat and tidy - some may say scruffy, others may say unpretentious and down to earth. Staff are OK, and I assume they are warmer and more welcoming to regulars as this is a popular caff. I think the main attraction is that meals are cheap, and you get a lot for your money. And the food, while being simple, is edible. My chips were a little thin and bland, but edible. My eggs were a little dry and slightly burnt underneath, but edible. My beans were in a thin sauce lacking flavour, but again quite edible. If you're not looking for anything fancy, and don't mind cheap food, Annies gives you a lot. You can fill up for less than a fiver. It's not my sort of place. I prefer a little more room and comfort. I prefer my food to be either better cooked, even when simple, or a little more interesting. I prefer my surroundings to be a little more charming. But I understand the popular appeal of cheap food loaded up on the plate, and so does Annies.

I have been coming to Annie's for a number of years that it has been opened (23 years). The staff has always been welcoming and polite and more in the such of caring as oppose to what they know. During that time other cafes have started to appear in the style of Annie's. Most of these cafes are at high prices and the size of the food are smaller. Annie's has been rewarded the Southern Evening Echo's Southampton’s Best Builder’s Breakfast award. Most of the other cafes are jealous of the fact that they didn't come up to the level of standard. I find that it is good value of money and that the food is big in size and I would keep on coming. The saying goes that "no one cares how much you care for a business until they know how much they care for their customers" and Annie's do that.

I was eating against the clock and found it all arrived promptly.Plenty of choice and some nice touches. They cook it right there and you can have stuff cooked exactly how you want it.Prices are very competitive; that is about half what a chain coffee shop would charge.

I have been trying to find a good breakfast place in Southampton so like to try somewhere new each time. This time it was Annie's after seeing an add giving it good reviews. I hope it must have just been me catching that bad day moment but from the minute we walked in you just felt it was not going to be a good experience.none of the tables had been cleared from the previous sittings. The waitress seemed totally uninterested in us and our order and to our right were stacked dirty plates awaiting cleaning and catering supplies of various tinned foods. Our food arrived quickly -my wife's omelette was good but the chips that went with it weren't and she would have much preferred the option of salad rather than chips. My breakfast had cold beans, tasteless sausage and transparent bacon.Judging from the people in the café they are getting something right I'm just not sure what it was.

Absolubt filth , dirty cutlery and plates I would never step foot in here again . Staff are friendly enough but the hygiene needs serious review.

I have often had a bacon sausage and egg takeaway sandwich from Annie's and always found them to be very enjoyable, this time I decided to stop and have a full English breakfast and was totally amazed. There is a good choice of breakfast that you can have and I decided to have the largest one going and it was absolutely fantastic. The seating is a bit cramped but that did not deter me from enjoying my breakfast. If you're in Woolston and feeling peckish go and grab a table at Annies I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

Been before but never left review ,this place is brilliant ,ok it's not Michelin stared like some people seem to think cafes should be (even though it's won an award)but it is a proper cafe which does great traditional fry ups at great prices with friendly staff ,in this day of being overcharged for very little food and bad service this is a pleasant change ,so if you want grapefruit and Greek yogurt for breakfast go elsewhere ,if you want proper food go here

Prices are cheap - coffee and an Eccles cake was £2, coffee wasn't very good. It is a bit rough and ready - tables have the old fashioned patterned plastic table cloths - gents toilet is in an out-house in the back yard. Not many places to get a coffee in Woolston, but I think I would find somewhere else next time.

Annie's is like a truck cafe, breakfasts are really nice and you get alot for your money, but there is alot on the menu apart from the nine breakfasts

Annies is a typical 'greasy spoon'. Great value for money. All day breakfast at its best! They do a 'Slim Jim' low fat option too.

Discovered by accident and pleased we did. The food is cooked fresh and was very tasty, especially the sausages. The staff were attentive and the banter between the 3 ladies was comical. Especially li
