we both ordered fish and chips with mushy peas. The fish was under cooked as it wasnt white. cod should be pure white. The batter was like a piece of wet rag only tougher. The peas were something our of a horror story, no way did those taste like any peas l have had in 80 years, even at an outside fair taste better, so goodness But l sure as hell know they wasnt peas . The whole meal at a charge of 83.42GBP and 46GBP of that was for the fish. I told the waitress that if l started at the other end of the fish, which by the way was yellow l would have demanded my money back and the so called chef need to be got rid of. But we were tired, been at the hospital for hours and we were both hungry. Wish we had gone elsewhere

An interesting experience. We were staying locally and wanted a nice meal out. Read the reviews and thought ok let’s go. What we actually found was that we there was no room for us in the are we had booked due to the football (that’s fine, but don’t then take bookings) We ended up in the “dining room” which was more like a dingy basement. Hardly appealing squashed in between a door and the wall. They then added a discretionary service charge without even asking All in all I wouldn’t go back or recommend The food whilst fairly tasty was more like a child’s portion. We had a burger each. Not quite a gastropub though.

We went to watch the Euro game but couldn’t see the tv that well because there was a high top table sitting between us and the tv and there was a light fixture right in front of the tv. So not very good in that aspect. The food was pretty good and the drinks were good too. We got the fish and chips, pesto gnocchi, and beef roast with horseradish sauce. For drinks we got a neck oil shandy and Pimms cups.

This is a beautiful pub, located in a fantastic area. The food is good but the attitude makes you uncomfortable. I booked a table at the bar for some drinks and nibbles at 5:00 pm. The bar is terribly loud so it is hard to hold a conversation. The waiters forgot our orders multiple times. I ordered two double gin and tonics and when the first arrived it was barely a single, I ignored it and ordered a second one and I am still wondering if there was any gin in the glass. After about an hour, it was clear that the waiters wanted us out, they repeatedly came to ask if we were done. They took everything away without truly asking if we were done, including our napkins, the final drops of my gin and tonic and some of the unfinished food. Granted, the place was busy and others could have used the table, but why couldn't they tell us from the beginning that we had to leave by a certain time? This is what my booking said: Bar • Table for 3 on Friday, 17 May 2024 at 17:00. You book a table and unless told, you expect to be able to stay as long as you want. So, at the end all I can say is that I was meeting some friends after not seeing them for 6 years, I chose a place that was highly recommended because I truly wanted a pleasant evening and the only conclusion I can draw is that I was annoyed and uncomfortable at the Anglesea Arms ... but, that being said, it was wonderful to see my friends again!

Yuk. Ripoff! We ate dinner here and urge you to avoid this restaurant. The worst restaurant in London. The service was poor, taking 40 minutes to get our meal, the wait staff ignored us, and the fish we ordered was by far the worst ever. It was a whole fish, consisting of bones with a thin layer of fish meat that was bland. We had to scrape off a topping put on the fish in order to get to the bones. Top it off with our overpriced entrees and we felt ripped off, especially when a 9.2% service charge was added to the bill.

This was our second visit, and a poorer experience than the first. Service wasn't great. Servers seemed inexperienced and a bit disorganized. Most tables were empty, so I don't think they were overworked. Scallop starter was excellent, fish and chips was very good as usual. Sole was nicely cooked but the sauce was too much and just overwhelmed the fish. Something lighter would work better. Disappointed that nothing with broccoli was available, as that left just a bunch of starchy sides. None of the desserts appealed so didn't try.

It’s such a dreadful experience; it seemed that this restaurant would chase you away even if you just arrive a few minutes earlier. We were first half an hour earlier and we were very unpleasantly instructed to wait outside for a while (very cold and rainy weather), and that the table would be ready around 8. So we acted accordingly, thinking only 15 minutes and we went back again. There are two tables empty but we were still instructed this time to wait at the bar. Honestly, this practice of rather keeping the table empty and not letting me and my friend to sit there even for a while, is really peculiar and I could not help but thinking what would happen if we were a group of white men. Would we still get such punishments of having to wait outside in the rainy weather for early arrival? The owner really should take some actions to avoid any potential of racism and bring the service to a coherent level. Anyway, the advice is that if you are uncertain whether you would be treated with service you deserve, DON’T GO because you won’t (what a pity).

First time in London and my friend took me to try the Sunday Roast! The only English dish I knew was Fish and Chips and this new plate was definitely a surprise, considering that UK cousine is quite limited. The meat was very good, the sider was a Yorkshire Puddin- which is a salty bread along with some vegetables. Disappointed unfortunately. It’s a loverly little pub in a quiet and friendly part of London but falls short of the two rosette award. I have to admit we didn’t eat the main course but the mac and cheese I believe came out of the microwave, was way over cooked, completely dry had no taste of cheese. The fries were frozen heated up. In saying that a lot of people were eating and seemed to be enjoying their food. Waited 15 minutes for my pint of peroni which didn’t come so changed it to Ashai what was most disappointing was that after spending easily 200 pound, I order a drink at 9:55 only to be asked to leave by security due to closing at 10. Staff were uninterested and not knowledgeable except for one female member of staff whi was loverly and helpful but let down by her team. I wouldn’t go back again

We booked a table for 6:15 pm on a Sunday to enjoy a traditional roast dinner. When we arrived and were given a menu, we saw that all but one choice was no longer available. There were at least 4 other choices on the website menu. We had 2 different servers, a young woman who was extremely pleasant, and a young man who was a bit snarky. In any event, we ordered the one available roast entree, the porchetta, and it came quickly. The food was good and included roast potatoes, a roasted carrot and Yorkshire pudding. We declined dessert and the young woman presented us with the check and I paid it. Just as we were exiting, the young male waiter literally accosted us at the door, and in front of the entire room accused us of not paying our bill. I was completely embarrassed and insulted. I explained that we had paid the bill, when the young woman showed up and explained that the charge had not gone through properly, which was not my fault. I cannot recall being treated so shabbily. Instead of accusing us of not paying, perhaps he could have politely mentioned that the card reader didn’t work. The young woman apologized profusely, she was really quite excellent, but I still had to walk back in to the room and resubmit my card. Not once did a manager come to offer an apology.

Booked in for Mother’s Day lunch, good start in terms of lovely location and flowers for mothers upon arrival. However, we were waiting over 30 minutes for our roasts after we finished our starters and children’s dishes. We raised with service staff and they said our mains would be with us in 3/4 minutes. We fed back to the assistant manager that we had to wait a long time for our mains, especially as they were Sunday roasts (which should not take that long to prepare), and other tables which had arrived later seemed to have received their mains, and our young children were getting restless. His response was that it was busy, and ‘food takes time to cook’, which was an incredibly patronising way to treat your customers. We left without having dessert, and on our way out, the assistant manager told us there was actually a technical issue which was why our food took so long, and only arrived because we chased up. There was a half hearted apology regarding the technical issue, but none for how we were treated and made to feel like we were complaining for no reason, or any attempt to rectify the situation. The above average food and service of the other staff meant this wasn’t a complete disaster, but we certainly won’t be returning.

Been a regular at Anglesea for 10+ years and I’m there pretty much every weekend. It’s an institution and the food and atmosphere are always so nice that it makes you forget the slow service of the place (on busy nights, it can take up to half an hour queue just to get a beer). However the management should become aware and address the behaviour of one of the waitresses (the girl with the long bob and tied blonde hair) — she is the rudest person in hospitality I’ve ever seen. She keeps ignoring customers (especially if women), she is unfriendly, grumpy, looks annoyed every time you try to order anything. It's such a disgrace that every time I tried to order anything from this girl she looked down on me and said “not now, I’m busy” and always disappeared — it happens every single time and I’ve now learnt that for some reasons she just doesn’t want to speak either with me of my friends. How weird.

We made reservations for dinner for a group of four and were seated in in the bar section. It was extremely loud. It would be fine for drinks. If you want dinner with a group, make sure you’re seated in the back dining room. Otherwise, it’s a great restaurant with a good pub atmosphere

We had an enjoyable afternoon in the Anglesey arms, the atmosphere in the pub areas was lovely but a bit quiet in the dinning area, in fairness it was 4pm. The food was good but the menu was fairly limited. Would recommend
