Andy's Fish Barwey in Waverley

this has to be the worst fish and chips ever. it was 7pm, the chips were old, dry and cold, inedible they fresh fried the fish yet is was mushy inside and so greasy, I could smell the old oil.. the batter was dark brown. Its nearly 1am and my stomach is so bad.. thank goodness I threw most of it away , a waste of £10.. will not be going thre again :(

Best fish and chips in surrey! I live in Portugal and this is close to as fresh tasting as the fish there. Slightly pricey but worth every penny. Delicious meal and not soaked in oil like so many. 5 stars ⭐️!!!!

Steadily stopped going here, I find the fish very oily and the chips are poor... staff are friendly and prices are okay.

Stopped in on the off-chance as we were passing by and even though they were about to close they put the fryer back on for us! Really good portion sizes and so tasty. The young lady who served us was so sweet too, good customer service :-) (Also, I thought the onion rings were really good so not sure what the other reviewer was talking about)

I had large cod, chips and onion rings. The chips were excellent. Not sure why my cod and chips were wrapped up together?.. The large cod..it's OK.. The onion rings were awful - £2 straight away in the bin.. Apart of that, the place looks fine and the service is excelent. Would I choose Andy's fish bar again?.. Won't be my first choice and never onion rings again..

Just had cod and chips from here - first time in ages. Massive cod! - 12 inches long at least - freshly cooked and lovely, chips ok too but go for a small/medium portion (unless you want reheated chip butties for a week!)

Recently moved into the area. This was our first lockdown Friday fish and chips. We used to have a great one where we lived in London and used regularly so standards here needed to be high... I can say our cod and chips plus a battered sausage were amazing!!! Can't believe we waited this long to visit. The team were very friendly. I placed the order in the shop on Friday evening. Everything was cooked fresh and i was happy to wait outside for no more than 10 minutes. Worth the wait. Team said i could call ahead with the order next time if i didn't want to wait. Will be there again on Friday. All very COVID secure. Thanks.

Beware of kids portions here - they are TINY! £5.00 for almost a bite sized portion of fish and a small handful of chips....Frankie's in nearby Grayshott is much better value.

Definitely a go to if you're in town and need some munch. Good, inexpensive food as well as friendly and speedy service.

Very disappointed with food from this takeaway. Chips seemed to have been sitting a long time and the only crisp ones in any of the 5 helpings were the very tiny ones. Normal size a bit soggy. Fish not a lot better and I won’t even comment on what we thought of the cheeseburger. The non battered sausage was fine. Expected better as we had been told it was good but personal experience says won’t be going there again.

Asked for a burger with red sauce and onions, no onions or red sauce on burger,asked for red sauce on burger and she said 10p, .let me educate you a burger is served with onions and red sauce,it's not an extra. Won,t be back again on principal.shame on you,s

This place made me very sick and ill i had terrible food poisoning and a bad stomach.

A week ago I ordered the same menu in Deep Blue Cobham - the contrast could not be greater. Cobham's cost £1 more; but was edible and delicious Andy's was £1 cheaper but inedible - I suspect they use an old fat but I don't know - the taste was horrible The environment was unwelcoming also In summary it was awful at Andy's

Man who ordered the same thing after me served before me. Some chips good but lots were dry and chewy.

Avoid. Even if they are giving it away free, avoid. I swear the "cod" was Tesco's value frozen battered cod but not as tasty as when you do it on the oven at home .... NO if you love lard, this is for you !! Deep fried oven fish - this you'll only ever do once. If you want fish & chips go to Milford.

Not a bad product. No competition means some things slip. Service a bit grumpy. Prices ok.

I went 20 mins before they closed but I didn’t love it. The chips were as dry as ghandi’s flip flop and the battered sausage was ok. Nothing to rave about but I’d probably go back if I were desperate for a fish and chips. Funnily enough I’m not.

The first thing to note is that the prices here are very reasonable indeed. They offer child options and child sizes at child prices. The food is high quality and the wait never much more than 10 minutes. Only drawback is that they only accept cash (so be warned).

Had several take outs lately, never been disappointed. My orders are usually cooked to order, I have been in various times and nights and the service is always good and food delicious.

The fish was fresh, the batter crisp. Personally I prefer more vinegar on my chips - but I will know for next time to mention this. Anyhow - that is a purely subjective stance . Not sure what else to say, except this is a good chippy!

This place has gone downhill. Used to be very good. Last Two Cod and chip meals awful. First swimming in vinegar, second the cod was as dry as cardboard

Good chips but everything else was not so good. 5 soggy scampi (not what I had hoped for). A chilled raw Saveloy - as cold as if it had just come out of the fridge. They had them in a bath of water over the top of the fryer but mine was icy cold and raw. Very dissapointed and very poor. This is also not to mention watching the fryer eat with his fingers as he cooked, and then carried on without washing his hands. Very unpleasant. And no website, facebook page or email address to feedback this information to them.

Always good fish and chips from here. I asked for crispy chips so they very happily double cooked them.

£4.95 for 7 pieces of scampi! I know it’s not the cheapest seafood around but really!!! Chips tasted ok but only very average.

Whenever I've been here, everything seems to take an age. The fish is tasty and the chips standard stuff, but throw anything else into the order (like a pineapple fritter) it seems to send the operation into meltdown.

The fish has always been good here and the battered sausage is also good but the chips can be a bit on the soggy side at times. If they were more crispy then this would be a great chip shop.

This place hasn't changed since the 70's and that is the charm. Having grown up locally and now living on the far side of the planet it is always great to come back here for proper fish and chips.

Regularly use Andy's now, having tried the others around. Friendly staff, big portions. Tasty chips, the cod is usually medium thickness...not the usual thin tail-ends. Batter tastes good. Will continue to use Andy's, when I want tasty and good value fish and chips.

I can honistly say they serve one of the best veggie burgers I have come across for fast food. The curry sauce is pretty scrumptious too =)

Been coming here for 4 plus years and always good. Huge chips - so plenty to share - although very yummy & hard to stop eating them. Have had cod & haddock - medium & large - ready & cooked to order - all very good. Family run & they close the business when they go on holiday - to ensure their reputation is maintained. Do not be put off by the kerb appeal - it looks ordinary but the food is delicious.

Too much batter on fish,chips not hot,mushy peas tasteless . Should concentrate on delivering first rate fish and chips and stop offering a host of other dishes.

One of the best chippy's I have been to( I travel all over the country) The curry sauce is recommended.the portions are big. Will be back next time I'm passing 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Been using this place for years, choosing here over more local fish and chip takeaways due to the consistent quality and size of portions. Never had a bad experience here! We usually have chips, cod, sausage or chicken and mushroom pie and all are great.

The only fish n chip shop in Haslemere... but it's not bad news! The fish is fresh and tasty, with a sense of quality. Chip portion size is very generous! Service is quick and efficient, which secures this place a very good rating.

I was spoil without realising when I used to live in Haslemere how good Andys' Fish and chips was and still is...!!!I always make the detour when I drive on A3 to stay loyal to probably the most reliable and perfect fish and Chips in 15 miles radius...Bravo to The Andy Team to have preserved this British Culture and tradition so often unfortunately sabotaged by unscrupulous and pretentious amateurs.Nothing better and more British, than a Large Cod and Fries (yes I said Fries) take away from Andys' Bar and go to eat it at the Shottermill Club near by with a Pint of Cold Asahi premium lager served at the Bar...Join me in that experience, it is fantastic... Always seem to get freshly cooked fish and chips here. Efficient service so queue moves quickly. Convenient location.

This is a decent chippy compared to the others around. Always find fast and friendly service. Love their curry sauce and they don't pour it over the chips without asking!

I have tried the Grayshott and hindhead chippy's and there are many reviews that have a preference for either of these - however this place is also on par with these other local chippy's in Haslemere.The core food products are all cooked the same way i.e. deep fried so for me it was all very similar.This place also has a good variety of food products.

Went to get fish+chips and 2sausauges and curry sauce here.the sausages we got were tiny half the size of any normal fish+chips portion, the fish was all batter and curry sauce was cold and had no taste.

Best Fish and Chips in Haslemere!

My experience of Andy's Fish Bar is completely the opposite to the first reviewer. The fish tasted floury, the sausages had no taste at all and the chips so bad we had to throw them away. However, the worst part is the dirt! I can only decribe the waiting area as filthy, with black dirt all around and rubbish littered on the floor and under chairs. I will not be visiting again!

I don't normally write reviews but a recent trip to Andy's fish bar just made we want to share my experience. If you didn't know there is new management who took over a couple of weeks ago and the food tastes great! I have to say the fish is the best I have tasted to date, I was told the new management has over 15 years experience in the fish and chip trade. I will be coming back soon again.
