Nice little pub, decent pub grub and fairly priced. Didn't have the 2 things on the menu we wanted but obviously popular! Tried the burger, sausage n mash, and scampi. All really nice. Sausages and burgers good butcher quality. The peroni tasted off so they happily changed it and took it off. Nice bunch of locals who seemed happy to chat. 😊

Great local pub with good beers, a nice garden front and back, child and dog-friendly, good atmosphere and a fun quiz night, now with live music too! Only down side is that the food appears to be mostly cooked from frozen and the burgers are generally overcooked, almost inedible in my experience - I'm astonished to read that people have enjoyed these and I've tried them several times in case I was unlucky but they've always been cooked to the point of being dry and chewy. Also fish and chips, probably the best dish available, seems very often to have run out. So could do far better in this department (e.g. Charterhouse Arms about 1km away is 5x better for burgers, and all other food generally) So wouldn't recommend it for the grub but for everything else it rocks!

Love the cricketers, it’s such a fantastic local and it has just been taken over by the loveliest land lady ever, Lisa. Aaron the old owner was equally lovely in his own way, but we wish Lisa all the luck in the world with her new endeavour and we look forward to helping out when we can. They have a great selection of booze and a really friendly atmosphere and staff. The food is proper pub grub, but done well. This place is not pretending to be anything it’s not. It’s just a great local pub. We look forward to many more visits and lots more fun.

Had a very disappointing family leaving party here. Very small amount of food provided, considering the price!. One bar staff member was excellent, another was appalling, ignoring guests! No music in the party room. When I asked them to turn it up I was completely ignored twice! Nothing was monitored, Like food and bowls running out. They made a good deal of money from us and our party guests. The main guests were told abruptly and rudely to leave at 7pm! A later excuse given to us was that children are not welcome after 7. We were never informed of this. As they started clearing up around our guests they were overheard moaning about how long it would take. Popped balloons to wake a sleeping baby on purpose! Which they found amusing! One of our party guests will be cancelling a future party there that they've already booked. So accomodating when they want your money! I gave 2 stars purely because of the one bar lady who was fantastic. One guest managed to order a drink off the other lady without the bar lady even talking to her! Not a welcoming venue for children at all 😕. Completely ruined a very difficult family farewell 😢

A great local. Decent though not huge selection of drinks, haven't explored the full spectrum, but the name of the game is doing less things...doing them well. Beers were good however, well poured, cool. Food was great, but not excellent. A limited menu is a good sign of quality and burgers are their forté. Meat is from local butchers, and the burgers are very generous. Ours was a bit dry in parts, but we were the last batch of burgers for the week before their weekly order, so I would go at the weekend to have them at their freshest. It was cooked with good technique as they hadn't grilled the moisture out if it. Taste is good and the sauces and other elements in the burger complimented, but didn't drown out the star of the show - the patty. This is a burger that isn't hiding and prides itself on quality. Chips, with skin on, taste great. The vibe of this pub is local, the staff are friendly, but casual and the friendly pub dog mills about. The building is old, characterful, with rose-clad flemish-bond facade and ample outdoor/indoor seating. If you aren't looking for anything too fancy, but want an enjoyable local pub experience this is a reliable go to. A great pub with potential for excellence with a few tweaks on food and a stronger/clearer specialty on drinks. Food: 7/10, Drinks: 7/10, Service: 8/10, Value for money: 8/10, Atmosphere: 8/10. Total: 38/50.

Even before I'd sat down, the attitude of the land lady was disgraceful. These are challenging times but to be treated like a five year old and belittled was a disgrace. My friends had already arrived and they told me of a similar experience. The land lady was extremely unhelpful, unfriendly and didn't make you feel at ease whatsoever. The new rules regarding the 'Track & Trace' system are there to give you a level of comfort. Her approach seemed to be that if you haven't used it before, that was your problem and she had no intention of helping you. Her attitude was appalling. If you looking for a quiet friendly atmosphere as winter approaches, I wouldn't bother with this place. Stay well away.

I visited The Cricketers with a group of friends and unfortunately I wish I hadn't. I have never met staff and management so unfriendly and ill equipped for the hospitality trade. I had been before and was disappointed then but thought I would give it a second chance. The whole experience was awful. Many years ago we lived in Farncombe, a short walk from this pub and visited regularly. I remember it as a cosy welcoming pub with excellent food. I am sorry to report that the memory does no longer match the reality. We went yesterday after visiting relatives in the area. One barmaid on duty serving all the drinks and all the food. Long list of dishes that were ‘off’. We ordered a game pie and a chicken and leek pie. Pies were OK but nothing special - I would be shocked if they came from Wakelings the butcher (used to be the most excellent local butcher). Thick gloopy gravy, warmed up mushy peas or frozen green peas. No fresh veg, chips out of a bag. Poor dining area, not that clean and with a whole lot of customers dogs. Very poor, a shadow of its former self.

Whilst The Cricketers is a good pub serving a range of drinks, including well-kept real ale, my meal experience this week deters me from pre-booking ever again. Having recently had good food from the menu when two of us dropped in mid-evening in the week, I recommended The Cricketers for a meal and drinks for a group of us meeting up with an old friend over from abroad. A table for seven was booked well in advance and was ready for us on the night in the pleasant ‘snug’ area, with menus laid out and no indication that several choices offered were unavailable or in short supply. We carefully listed our order. Initially, there would have been takers for ‘special’ pies, but enquiring what fillings were on offer revealed there was only one pie left and it was chicken. Accordingly, five of us chose steak and accompaniments. Going through our food order at the bar, I was then told there were only two steaks left. As I went back to our table to negotiate adjusted choices, I also had to bear in mind that there was ‘no cod either’, meaning one us couldn’t have what would have been their subsidiary choice of fish chips from the menu. The main thing on offer appeared to be the ‘very good’ burgers. There was much to sort out and it was a relief when one of the bar staff arrived to facilitate our choosing from the few options now available. It was suggested that on a future occasion (there won’t be one!), we should give advance warning so that the kitchen has enough supplies in. I can’t see what more could have been done than book the table for seven and expect to eat with reasonable choice from the menu presented. The worst thing on the night was only been apprised of the paucity of real choice when we had spent time compiling our order for the bar food. I have tolerant friends mindful of how things can go wrong, but nevertheless found the experience most awkward and our overall enjoyment of our visit to The Cricketers was challenged.

Been using them for years. They changed hands a while back and for a while the quality dropped a little but has recovered. I am a regular and the food is very good. They do some gluten free options for my wife which is great. Love the capitol ribs. The previous cook did beatiful rice and now it is not quite the same - a bit dry - but otherwise we are very happy with them and they are always friendly and helpful.

There is simply nothing to praise about this place, the staff or the food. Avoid. Having served bottles of beer it took over an hour to get any attention and another hour before food was delivered to the table. The rushed and slightly grumpy owner of the place was assisted by a scruffy looking person in a basball hat; a person with a “not my place mate, I’m only helping out” uninterested attitude.
