One of two major amusement parks in Virginia, Kings Dominion is a fun park with rides and entertainment.

Went on a weekday, and we hardly waited any time in the lines. I was disappointed to find 305, shut down. Several restaurants not open and drink refreshing stations shut down. The overall cleanliness of the park is bad. It needs to be worked on. Staff and rides were great.

I gave it 5 stars but they removed the oysters from the buffet

I’ve been going here since I was kid and I have so many great memories. Now that I have a family of my own I get season passes and I go to take the iconic picture at the entrance where the Eiffel Tower is in view and right below it says Kings Dominion. Some photographer runs up to me yelling say no stop you need to pay. My son immediately starts crying in my arms. I’m thrown off because why do I need to pay for the basic view when I payed $95 to get into the park. That’s like saying you pay for Disney tickets but you need to pay for if you want the castle in the background. My whole mood was thrown off, I’m confused, and my son got scared. Now I don’t even feel like going through the park anymore. Awful first experience back. Change that unnecessary photo rule. That explains why I never see pictures in front any more. Thanks.

We went on the weekdays so it wasn't busy, and pretty empty. We had good time. Will recommend this park for all ages.

Disappointing!!! Kings Dominion closed for inclement weather. The projected and actual weather was partly cloudy! It did not even rain!! What a waste of time and money! Busch Gardens Williamsburg will NOT close for just a partly cloudy day! BUSCH GARDENS FOR THE WIN!!!!! Kings Dominion Corporate take notes!!!

Planned a weekend in the Koa campground rented cabin and all. Found out Saturday morning that they were closed for the day due to inclement weather…. Been here ALL day not a single raindrop has fell, no thunder/lightning ALL day… not sure who made this call but might want to get a better weather forecaster… on the good note bush gardens about an hour away was open today…. Not sure if I will be spending my money here anymore…..

Ruined birthday. "Tonya white" from "six flags" sent us an email at 1am they were closing today Saturday due to weather. The weather was a 20% chance of showers. Not even lightning. Just some intermittent showers possible. I spent hundreds on tickets and hotel for my son nd his friends. Now we are in Virginia having a terrible time as i scramble to save the day...for hundreds of additional dollars. This is terrible and everyone is upset. Meanwhile it's a beautiful day and as of 1pm hasn't rained a drop. Ive emailed kings Dominion asking them to make this right with no response as of now. Since it is a beautiful day im convinced this was a financial decision and kings Dominion just didn't have enough people to open the park or something. I'll never stray from bush gardens again. Don't make the same mistake I did. Im devastated on this beautiful day. Go to bush gardens! Edited at 7pm to add a photo of the public playground 5 miles away we ended up at. Not a drop of rain and we ended up playing at this park for a while with a $5 ball. No email response from kings Dominion and the number "Tanya White" told me to call did not care at all. No refund or compensation or care about the hotel and food money im still out. They couldn't even tell me why the park closed today really since it was a beautiful day. Photo of park we ended up with blue skys and weather report to prove im not crazy just disappointed.

Drove from North Carolina to attend this park and paid thousands of dollars on thickets, food passes, and fast passes. Not including the hotel! Just to have the park email us saying there closed. Every other park in America is open and running…….

Somehow I always seem to get heat exhaustion here but my kids love it I won’t be back for a while

Ticket buyers beware when purchasing tickets. If you have an unforseen event that happens and you need a refund there is a HIGH chance you may not get your refund eben if you purchase insurance thru Fanshield. Once you purchase the insurance to protect your purchase and something happens out of your control and you need a refund you are SOL. Fanshield has "specific" reasons to get your refund and if you do have a valid reason you still may not get a refund!!! I suggest before purchasing anything from Kings Dominion go on Trustpilot and read the reviews from 100s of people claiming that they were ripped off. Don't bother calling Kings Dominion because they will tell you the insurance is thru a 3rd party and they can't help you. I am writing my honest review. Please do research BEFORE purchasing or you will end up in headache like I did!!! Wish someone reported this before I purchased. You've been warned

I will always love this place. My family and I have been a million times and it just will never get old to me. The prices are fair (when you consider other parks), the rides are fun, food amazing, great entertainment, staff usually pretty nice, and just all out a fun place to be with family!!!

My family has season's passes for several years now. I love Kings Dominion. It's a smaller regional amusement park but I've been going almost 40 years. I've seen things come and go and seen the park gradually change over time. I feel like they've done a great job keeping ir fresh and always looking for new rides and things. Lately you can tell it's showing it's age and some of my favorite rides are gone (Flight of Fear, Volcano). Food is ok, could be way better. Some of the magic is gone but enough of it is there to keep me coming back.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: I’m late in learning that they’re no longer doing Winterfest, the amazing event that brought me back to KD after years of choosing Busch Gardens instead. I’m truly heartbroken. We wanted to make it a family tradition. They put so much into that event that it made me feel like KD was making a comeback of sorts, like the park cared about “wowing” their guests with more than just big roller coasters. It was a true family event. We changed to being BG members years ago because we felt that park did more to appeal to guests of all ages. It was more than just concrete and thrill rides. I’m incredibly disappointed that KD is ending the most wonderful and amazing park experience they’ve created since I was there the year it opened. PREVIOUS POST: Winterfest was amazing! The park was beautiful - at times we just stood still so we could take it all in. The only holiday lights I’ve seen as incredible as this display was at the Spectacle of Lights at Disney World that was ended 5 years ago. This is the perfect replacement for us! The lights, shows, music, food were all wonderful, but the live animals were the icing on the cake. We could’ve stayed there for an hour just watching the smiles and laughter of the children as they touched the animals. The adults were just as delighted! We will not only return to Winterfest next year, but hopefully go more than just once. This is now our new favorite holiday activity, one which we hope will become a family tradition for many years to come!

This is a beautiful and clean theme park with a wide range of interesting and thrilling rides and high availability of affordable lockers to keep items safe. We went early in the season and there were few lines for rides. Can't wait to try the new Panterian! Only annoying thing was paying parking on arrival. Buy it in advance when you get your tickets.

New roller coaster was a blast, although you charge full price admission today but half the park rides are not operational and maybe 2 food location for dinning were open

Three coaster shutdowns (Apple Zapple, Grizzly, Flight of Fear) highlighted a so-so amusement park experience. The coasters and thrill rides I was able to go on were nice experiences. The food was fresh and tasty, but typically overpriced for amusement parks. Park maintenence/cleanliness was a big bummer. Every bathroom I used and the Jungle area Cafe had absolutely filthy floors. The final big bummer was the dozens of rides, shops, and other buildings that were closed the whole day. There were a few food/snack stalls with interesting gimmicks that I wanted to try, but they never opened. I'd recommend trying other parks nearby before considering King's Dominion. I had some fun on my trip, but I don't think I'll ever go back.

You (King's Dominion) still desperately need a ride operations efficency manager. Somebody who makes sure ride operations are smooth and efficient. If your employees won't dispatch rides in a timely manner, then there really needs to be more shade for those who are waiting and those who are trapped on the brake-run being baked to death by the sun. The placement for some of their rides do not make sense, and some rides need a re-theme & badly (BackLot) We have been waiting for nearly a decade for you to retheme backlot. You took my name for it "jungle Expedition" and named the area that. But you didn't repaint the coaster. You didn't add any fake rockwork, or crumbling temple ruins, or fake cavern in the tunnel of the ride. You havent turned the mini mini-coopers into mini jeeps. You NEED more air-conditioned places to eat and sit down. This is not a request, it is a demand. On top of that, you get severe storms, but no shelter?! Your Waterpark leaves a LOT to be desired. Add a mat racer slide with turns and airtime hills. Add in a "water coaster", be innovative by adding unique attractions. But that water park is sad, and the entrance makes NO sense (as it should be between Apple Zapple & Twisted Timbers. Park management really needs to consider putting up a solar farm over top of their parking lot. It would help with their massive electric bill, reduce heat produced by the sun beaming down on pavement, and it would help keep the park guests cars at a lower temperature. Last items: new rides. I'm glad you're adding Rapterra, but there are some other things you need to really bring this park up. 1) Get rid of Delerium. You just opened it, but you didn't bother to extend the ride cycle? 5 full swings, and this ride is over?! That's not acceptable. Just get rid of it & put in a Chance Rides Hyper GT-X version of the Shockwave coaster that was there. Also, you need to put in a family suspended coaster from Vekoma. Make it a multi-launch like Big Bear Mountain at Dollywood, and put it in where the Go Karts/Dinosaurs Alive were. You need new slides in your water-park, as it's kinda pathetic. Planet Snoopy NEEDS a modern family coaster! You also desperately need more attractions that the whole family can ride. You have stuff for very young kids, you have stuff for thrill seekers but you don't have much in the middle. Also, your flat ride selection is lacking as well. GET A ZAMPERLA NEBULAZ FLAT RIDE! Update the drop tower with a better one for S&S (the one with the ring of seats at hersheypark). Get ride of Delerium and get S&S to make a custom "screamin' swing" to have seats that rotate (like delerium, but it would be a way better ride experience) and put it in the Jungle Expedition area and have it swing over Lale Charles. Please fix up the Log Flume & White Water Canyon?! The water smells AWFUL and looks BROWN! The water has no proper drainage at the log flume, so it sits there and now there are a billion mosquitoes. Seriously, hire somebody and fix the land sloping issues, and treat the water with either salt or chlorine. Please finish re-tracking Grizzly! The first turn after the first drop, the final turn, and final return leg of the coaster all desperately need retracking and re-profiling. Also I went on a Monday. Why were the lines nearly an hour long?! Last thing for now; please please PLEASE give Dominator a "dominating" color scheme, because orange yellow, purple, and blue isn't it. You just repainted it, but the same ugly colors? No. Blue, Black, Neon teal, neon purple, and grey would be better. I can give you guys my color key for the coaster and you can take it from there. Last and possibly the MOST important, ADD BENCHES TO PLANET SNOOPY! At literally ALL the rides I'd be more than happy to discuss needed park improvements with King's Dominion management. You have my contact information, and you really should take my advice as when you have in the past, it has helped the park out in major ways. And to be honest, clearly you need my help, it's beyond evident.

The best place in the world I recommend ok rides are way better than 6 flags ok come here.

My kids typically don’t do roller coasters- but they had a great time.

A good set of rollercoasters makes this park worth visiting! The newest coaster is called Rapterra and waiting some extra time to sit up front is 100% worth it......you won't be disappointed!

Such bullshiit people!! Wouldn’t let you take the elevator even w disability! I couldn’t go up the stairs because of the injury on my leg and took the little elevator they had and this lady made me go back down the stairs saying “we don’t allow people to take the elevator” why is it there than?? Obviously for the people that can’t take the stairs. Wouldn’t waste my money here again.

Coasters are cool. First time here in almost 30+ years. Did not checkout water park as storm rolled in and left early. Park overall not bad but nowhere near as nice an experience as Busch Gardens. Food prices are outrageous.

old, needs work, but still doing great with customers service HOWEVER if they want you to feel safe on the country's best rides maybe learn how to fix an elevator (eiffel tower broke for 8 years) seriously, cable, motor, brakes, counter-balance, doors, what am I missing?

It’s a lot of fun over all, but I do have a problem with the food plans though, I purchase one every year with my pass, however every year, the regulations change, initially you could dine every 90 minutes, the next time it went to every 3 hours, now it’s 2025 and it’s every 4 hours, which is ridiculous, if you ask me! But if you purchase the all day dining for $31 for a one day visit which is the same as the dining pass for $120 for the season, you can dine every 90 minutes but with the all season dining pass it’s every 4 hours! It’s not right when the passes were every 90 minutes from the start! Had I known this ahead of time I wouldn’t have purchased an all season dining pass at all!!! Last thing the quantity of food is not worth it for the dining pass! For the price, they surely don’t give you much, like for example you use to get 2 pieces of pizza and 2 bread sticks, now you get one piece of pizza and 2 bread sticks, that’s not worth $18 it’s not right at all!!

One of my kid’s favorite places. Halloween and Christmas themes are excellent. Water park is pretty good, too.

Many young people work here with little empathy towards children. Otherwise it's a place where you walk and there are very few signs other than maps. You have to look at everything on your phone. The food is very expensive here. Live your own experience.

This amusement park was a blast!!!! Me and my family came here and it was such a hoot! The rides were incredible and the food was not as expensive as other parks (disney, universal, and Dollywood). Although prices were good for the most part, the lines were a bit out of hand. I feel it would be funny if it got named to “lines dominion” haha. But seriously other than that being here at night was beautiful and there was quite literally at least one ride for everyone. Loved!!!

Went the day after opening, and some would think it wasn't open. There where multiple rides not in operation, very limited food options not to mention the lack there of staffing. Also fun fact something goes wrong with the ride they won't tell you what's going on. They will approach you and make small talk with you like your not there to ride the ride your currently present for. In my instance we went to ride the Timber ride. Waited in the line for over 60 minutes, got to the front of the line, and then someone puked. You would think that this puke was the end of the world at an amusement park. It shut the ride down for over 30 minutes before we gave up. For puke, at an amusement park.

For over 15 years, I have been a loyal visitor to Kings Dominion, hoping to share the same delightful experiences with my children that I enjoyed during my youth. Unfortunately, our most recent visit this past Saturday was marred by a disturbing and traumatic incident in which we witnessed a physical altercation involving multiple individuals in the parking lot. As a result, I am compelled to advise others against visiting this park due to serious safety concerns. I have acquired season passes that I no longer wish to use. Although the staff attempted to intervene, their efforts were hampered by insufficient personnel, forcing me to quickly usher my children into the vehicle and instruct them to remain calm as one of the individuals appeared to be wielding a firearm. This distressing experience has permanently damaged my fond childhood memories, leaving me apprehensive about my safety and that of others, particularly families with young children. I strongly caution against visiting this park and urge those who do to exercise extreme vigilance.My heart is broken and I will never return to this park again.

I absolutely love taking my family here. We buy passes every yr plus add ons like food and drinks, extremely great deal. Family friendly wonderful staff.

Had a wonderful day at Kings Dominion! Reasonably priced tickets very courteous, respectful, and enthusiastic ride operators. And extremely helpful and knowledgeable people when we did have problems. The only real gripe I have is the food service was a little slow, but Overall, even lacking The Intimidator.. Rapterra exceeded my expectations! My family and i will be back!

Good park, but the best ride is closed right now.

Save your money and drive to Busch gardens instead! We left after only an hour and a half there. The roller coaster are not size inclusive and this place is dirty with rude and incompetent employees!! No wonder the tickets are only $40. You get what you pay for!

Overall, the staff was slow. The lines for the foods were slow. The quality of the food was mediocre. The appearance of the park seems to be going downhill.

Went for opening day today. Wasn’t too crowded given and it was a beautiful 80 plus degree day. Most of the r coasters only had one train running which made for long wait times. 21/2 hours to ride the all new Rapterra. IMO only 4-5 good coasters they rest are blah. Happy 50th!!

The employees move with no sense of urgency. That's the real reason for the long wait times. Definitely is not busy.

I bought on 12/01/24 the glass that you can refill with fountain drinks for the price of $38.15, this is the price for the full season or for one full year of free fountain drinks. I came today on 03/29/25, went to the soda station and could not refill my glass as their system erased my full year of fountain drinks because of the change of year. Even though they said this is not anybody’s fault they asked for my receipt which most probably I do not have anymore so I lost my full year of fountain drinks refill and I will have to pay $38.15 again, it does not sound fair or like if it was an error in the system for me.

Been standing in line at guest service for 50 minutes with the line length still 30 more minutes just to get a handicapped pass. If this is how six flags wants to make a good impression, they have grossly failed!

Came here while we were on vacation and wanted to try a new theme park besides the ones in Florida and we were so impressed!

WINTERFEST IS CANCELED AND THE REVIEWS ARE MANUFACTURED!! Ive held a season pass for the past decade and ive always loved the park, but now that they've canceled their Winterfest event i'm requesting a refund of my passes for my family so I can go to Bush Gardens. Also, I just read a review that says someone had the best time of their life yesterday, and another from a week ago, but the park doesn't open until Friday, March 28th. I just confirmed with their customer service. I'm sorry to see you go KD!!!! BUSH GARDENS HERE I COME!!!

Well, y’all, I just had me the best dang day at Kings Dominion, and I reckon it’s a solid five-star spot! This here park’s got somethin’ for everybody, and them coasters? Lord have mercy, they’re finer than a frog’s hair split four ways! Now, let me tell ya ‘bout Twisted Timbers—hot diggity, that ride’s the cat’s pajamas! It’s smoother than a buttered biscuit, with that wild barrel roll drop and airtime that’ll have ya hollerin’ “Yee-haw!” ‘til the cows come home. I rode it more times than a dog’s got fleas—it’s just that good, y’hear? But that ain’t all! Intimidator 305 is meaner than a wet panther—drops so steep and turns so fast it’ll rattle your bones in the best way. Dominator’s got them fancy loops and twists that’ll make ya whoop like it’s Saturday night at the honky-tonk. And Racer 75? That ol’ wooden coaster’s got charm thicker than molasses—I loved every bouncy second. Even the little ‘uns like Apple Zapple and Woodstock Express kept the good times rollin’. The park’s prettier than a peach orchard in bloom, all shady with trees and kept cleaner than a preacher’s Sunday suit. The folks workin’ there were sweet as pecan pie, lines moved quicker than a jackrabbit, and the grub—especially them funnel cakes—was tastier than Granny’s home cookin’. Whether you’re a coaster-crazy fool like me or just out for a fun day, Kings Dominion’s got the goods. Twisted Timbers is worth the trip all by its lonesome, but the whole shebang’s a rootin’-tootin’ blast. Five stars, y’all—I’ll be back faster than you can say “Bless my soul!”

Our mom used to love to take us to Kings Dominion and to this day I think it's why I enjoy Rollercoasters so much. She had wanted us to go back soon as they have some of the best rides and experiences. Unfortunately, she won't be joining us for the next adventure :'( but I'll always remember the good time we had here together ♥️ - we'll miss you Ma. RIDE ON in Heaven 🎢 - This was one of our favorite places to come. I remember the last time we were all able to go we had such a blast! From the roller coasters to the food to even the merch. It's one of the Fondest Memories I will cherish and carry on with me! Especially as we were screaming on that drop on the 305 🥹🤣💔♥️🙏🏾

We went on a school trip during June to the park. It was fun the food was great. But by tickets in advance the lines are LONG. Other than that it's was a pretty good trip.

I cannot believe you you cancelled Winter Fest!! We have gone every year since you started it!! The park is Gorgeous with all the lights! My grown children and grandkids love coming. Santa's workshop and the post office to write their letters to Santa was always a favorite shop. The park has always been full but, easy to move around and enjoy! Since Six Flags has merged with the company I think your making very stupid moves and this is the biggest wrong move to make. I'll go to Hershey Park and tell others to do the same. I grew up in that park and I know things change but, getting with Six Flags was the wrong move.

One of the best amusement parks in the country. Excellent ride selection and they're filling in gaps where they can. Theming is minimal. Park layout is basically a line so prepare to walk a lot to get between the best rides

This is the BEST amusement park that I have ever been to out of all of the ones I've been to but i would advise to NOT GO ON WEEKENDS VERY VERY BUSY Tuesday and Wednesday is their least busy days

Winter fest is absolutely beautiful but dress for the cold!!!

I went here with 2 kids. Amazing rides had an amazing time. Prices are over priced for 2 cups of fries $23.00 😂😂😂 besides that and the long lines it’s fine

I really like Kings Dominion. The park is loaded with great attractions and there's a good amount of shade. It is similar to Kings Island but I kind of liked it more. The park feels broken in, in a good way. For me I came for the roller coasters. And are there some really solid or great ones. My top three were definitely Intimidator 305, Twisted Timbers and Grizzly. But honestly I didn't dislike hardly any of them. Except Tumbili which I found pretty painful. All in all I really like this Cedar Fair park! It's certainly not perfect but I think it's probably one of my favorites if not my favorite. My only gripe and this one really needs improving, is the food quality at the park. The best place I ate at was kind of mediocre, which was a smokehouse near the park's Eifel tower... But over by Anaconda I had a Chicken sandwich where the chicken was the texture of hard rubber. Yeah really not good at all. It was atrocious. Probably the worst chicken I've ever eaten. Which was especially disappointing considering that other Cedar Fair parks had much better food. The best food I've had at any of their parks was at Worlds of Fun at that park's Gorilla Grill. The best chicken sandwich I ever had. It was thick cut and well breaded with a great aioli. Followed by good things at Canada's Wonderland and Kings Island. Honestly most Cedar Fair parks are pretty okay in this department. But yeah, seriously the food at KD is below average or horrible.

Great Amusement Park which is growing in quantity of thrill rides and quality. The food is really good and worth the cost of a all day dining pass. Tickets are relatively affordable compared to other theme parks. Always a good time here. There are some shady characters, but for being outside of Richmond, the daytime is not bad at all

Very nice amusement park for the Holliday season! The Christmas set up was amazing! I enjoyed the ice skating also ( $20 extra for this service).

My family tries to go to Winterfest here every winter, but I feel it’s getting a bit below standards. This year when we went, many of the food places were closed, many rides were closed, and we found ourselves a bit bored with nothing much to do. I do love the ice rink here though! One of the biggest in the area

Last night of Winterfest was horrible, multiple shows canceled with no indication/warn, performers just didn't show up, lights on but no one home. Plus very limited places open serving hot chocolate.

Awesome time @ New Years Eve 2024. Weather was just perfect. The place was full, but it was still easy to walk around. The lines were long, but accessible to a few rides. Kids and adults had fun. The bands playing fav's for all ages keep everybody dancing and having a great time. Fireworks were top-notch.

Omg fam this amusement park is one of my favorite! We have cedar fair passes so we come at least 5-7 times a year. So much fun coasters and stuff to do. Dominator and project 305 is my favorite! I also really like flight of fear that’s a good one also. The food is actually good quality for being amusement park food. Jukebox diner has some great burgers and pickles. But if u go u have to yell about the jukebox to get a free meal. Go in the diner and scream JUKEBOX and u get a free burger and fries. Also there is some booths in some of the restaurants because tables suck.

WinterFest was AMAZING here! It was so magical. I'm glad that we went after Christmas and during the week. It was less busy but everything was so beautiful.

Nice park, great rides, okay food. The park is in a bit of a weird in-between with rights and stuff so the theming is a bit inconsistent, but that doesn't change the ride quality.

We planned a vacation here on a whim, and I had the BEST day with my family!

Marvelous! My children enjoyed it to the fullest on New Year's Eve!

We went for Winterfest. It was wonderful and colorful, and I will do this again. It could be romantic if it's a couple going. Or super exciting for little ones. All the staff was helpful.

We went there on New Year’s Eve! The park opened at 5pm then there was a thunderstorm. At around 6:30pm the rain stopped. A lot of ride were closed even after the rain (especially for the kids: planet snoopy) There was a lot of shop than ride. It’s a kind of holiday market not amusement park.

Decent park. Pretty crappy that they charge for parking. And it’s way overpriced at that. Your already paying extremely marked up prices to get in and to top it off with astronomical parking fees is ridiculous. It’s not even maintained either. The lot is rugged and has many potholes.

Fantastic. New Years Eve party was great. Park was full of fun loving people. Can't wait til the park opens in spring.

Definitely needs to be more options for seating around the park.
