I was hoping for better. We took our grandchildren for Winterfest. The lights were beautiful. The kids loved the peanuts show. The ride lines were long and took for ever. In some cases, people were being trained. December seems a little late for training. There were only 3 places to eat inside and the price was outrageous. $25 for a chicken tender meal. I tried to use the app to see what rides were open and it kept showing none. Five hours was not long enough to try to find things to do. There needs to be more signs to guide through the park. This goes in the category of been there - done that.

We went to Winterfest for the first time on 12/14. The park is really decked out for the holidays and the lights are absolutely beautiful. It was not crowded, very easy to navigate. The one and only thing I would recommend is more places to dine inside. They have a lot of kiosk style places to grab something at the window, but very few indoor places. Other than that, zero complaints. Clean restrooms, friendly employees, some rides were running but don’t expect to go during this event and find all rides running. This was a great way to get in the Christmas spirit!

And you are a great place for kids and adults 5 stars ######################### Went on May 30th 1. Food portions seem smaller 2. Some rides seem shorter 3. The 3 point game seems a tad ridged ... The ball is heavier than normal...makes it much harder to make more that 2/3 baskets unless you have played several times prior and have figured out the secret to it otherwise it can be a waste of $12

Great rides, terrible ride dispatch times. Park never seems to be really crowded, but lines.for rides are twice as long as they should be Because the operators just have no sense of urgency at all. Food here is typical deep fried fare, really expensive, and normally cold/dried out because they don't cook to order. Do yourself a favor and get a Publix sub to eat in the parking lot before you go in.

Visited as part of Winterfest 2024. This is my 28th major amusement park and my 5th park in the Cedar Fair chain. In itself it is a good park: the offer is very good and varied with a good choice of coasters and, like Kings Island, a very beautiful main path with the most beautiful effect with a reproduction of the Eiffel Tower. The Christmas decoration for the wonterfest is more immersive. But the staff in particular on twisted timbers is catastrophic. Instead of filling and leaving the trains, people chat, they go back and forth in the cabins and sometimes worse, they stay standing, waiting without moving, doing nothing...! It's surreal. We waited 45 minutes with a fast lane! There were only 3 trains before ours (i.e. 2 pairs of 3 people) and it took 5 to 10 minutes to make a single train leave.

We had bought tickets for the Haunt event and the basic meal plan. Most of the places that we found online for meals that were available, were not available. When we had gone to buy the all day fountain drink for the cup, they had told us that the whole park sold out of cups and we were given a small cup with a wristband saying we can get drinks every 15 minutes. While walking in the park later, not even 10 minutes, we saw shops giving out the cups to other people. We asked to exchange the bracelet for the cup and told the staff what we were told, and we were denied. Some of the places on the meal plan that said we could buy from, were not available to us to get food from. If you are a vegetarian, I would suggest not buying the meal plan either. The basic meal plan feels like a major scam and our party wasted over 60 dollars on it. You cannot re-enter the parking lot after you leave without repaying either, so you are really out of luck if you have dietary restrictions or health issues that require exiting the park for any reason (like I do.) Overall, would not recommend this place very highly. I feel like I was just scammed the whole day.

We had fun, but it was way too expensive. Even the refill cups to drink from for the entire day were like $30-40, for a regular plastic cup. We enjoyed the rides and the Halloween haunt stuff but not worth the $30 parking and $80 a person cover charge.

Our experience at Kings Dominion was frustrating and disappointing. My family and I paid $342 for tickets and a snack plan, expecting to enjoy a variety of snack options. However, several places listed on the app and kiosks as part of the snack plan—like Dippin' Dots and Auntie Anne's—weren't actually covered. This misinformation led to disappointment and wasted time as we had to figure out what was included. To make matters worse, we waited over two hours at Juke Box due to extreme understaffing. I contacted customer service and spoke with a manager, Raquel, who told me an $86 refund had been issued by her employee, Sarah Bouldin. But Raquel then claimed refunds weren’t supposed to be offered at all, leaving us confused and feeling misled. Kings Dominion's lack of organization and poor communication were incredibly frustrating. I’m still waiting for a full refund and would not recommend this park if you expect clear information and smooth service.

Overpriced everything low quality everything definitely no Busch Gardens having a Busch Garden season pass holder for years seeing it as a value I see Kings Dominion as a season pass being the only way to make it worth it. The food is overpriced. The food passes that they trick you into are way too restrictive and don’t work in any of the foods only in the actual restaurants All in all Kings Dominion is only good if you’re going to go every weekend on a season pass with a whole season of meal deals and drink deals for individuals with zero pallet dollar store quality for Ruth’s CHRIS prices. Definitely not a toddler destination the kids rides were too rough for some adults $30 for parking and full adult price admission for a three-year-old is crazy.

The Halloween decor was amazing and lots of fun, staff really got into character and did great. The rides were fun and lines were not too long. We traveled 2 hours and after I stood in line about 15 min to get a bite to eat was informed that the park takes no cash at all, very disappointing having brought only cash for personal spending that day. I had to always have a friend stand with me to order and keep receipts to pay for me. She didn’t have a lot in her card due to purchasing our 4 tickets and paying $30 for parking so I did not splurge as I planned . As we went for dinner I passed on the burritos due to the very long line and no inside seating with it being chilly. Went to the Italian restaurant and decided on the pasta and meatballs. In the pan I seen one noodle to about 9 meatballs and the pizza had puddles of grease and $20 for that 2 breadsticks and a small sad salad I just was put off. Decided on the barbecue place and wanted the brisket..surprise all out! We did enjoy the boardwalk fries . At Starbucks there was a line and everyone was getting along then the staff worker shouted in a rude tone that people need to make the line out the door. I was sitting but just thought I would have left if she spoke to me while I was in line like that and did hear ppl say there were going out the door but not to get back in line. A woman beside me asked “what was the issue w those ppl? That worker was uncalled for” I said how I couldn’t agree more. Overpriced coffee and terrible attitude at Starbucks near the entrance. We got boardwalk fries near the basket ball game and while waiting you could see lots of people making odd faces and then the smell hit you …it was like a septic smell. We didn’t notice it other areas of the park but to put the food stand there where there was this smell was puzzling, def don’t want seconds and we had to walk away before we could eat the fries . We and the teens agreed that the show being put on in the middle of the walking area was like soft burlesque. For kids and a family park it was very inappropriate. The lingerie and sexual acting out was very very distasteful and the kids just seemed grossed out and said “why are they acting like that?” My niece does dance and performs so it wasn’t not just art and preforming it was vulgar and I asked more then one adult who fully agreed. The apple rollercoaster ride broke before we could ride but overall was positives not all negatives. Biggest downfall was no cash and lack of food choices and them even having what they advertise. The potato cakes I did buy were pre cooked and cold so it’s not at all worth the price. I’d rather be advertised cheap or not good quality vs being very disappointed and actually grossed out by some food, when crunchy fried food gets cold it’s a chewy awful texture and that is what was served for the October fest food. Beer was $15-$17 , a lot for anyone who wants to feel they experienced Oktoberfest. If we do come back and not sure after this instead of season passes we were considering for next year we definitely now would like to check out bush gardens before doing so and pick one after that visit.

Came here Nov. 3, last day of their Halloween haunt thing, but didn't stay until that event started. Park was not very crowded at opening, but the number of people seemed to gradually increase. Got the fast pass after entering the park with tickets purchased online. I would say the fast pass is great for hot summer days with large crowds, but still worth it for some less crowded days as it will get you to the gates right before the roller coaster cars. Was riding the bumper cars and fast pass got us straight on the following ride. Kind of felt bad for the people waiting, but it's what you paid for so 🤷. I mainly rode the roller coasters. Project 305 is still my favorite, the insane initial drop and almost blacking out can't be beat. It also rides like 20 people at once so the line was non-existent. Twisted timber was a blast and old favorites like racer 75 or anaconda were still great. I had a great time. The staff were nice and chill. Park is in good enough shape for how long it's been around. For food, I didn't get the meal plan, but a couple of friends did. It's well worth it if you can handle eating every 90 min while getting flung around on the rides. The included sodas are nice to have. I mooched a root beer and it really helped me get through my dizzy spell after 305. Also there are the turkey legs. You gotta get a turkey leg. It's smokey, greasy, and delicious. Only if someone could figure out how to remove the 15 inedible tendons. Definitely bring some floss if you do get it. KD still very good 👍!

Love Kings Dominion, my partner and I came for Oktoberfest and The Haunt and had a great time. The bag situation during some of the rides is annoying and there’s not many places put your bags without being forced to buy a locker. Our bartender at Oktoberfest couldn’t pour us the right beer after being corrected 3 times prior and after being corrected the beer was still 1/4 empty. The Haunt was great besides being pushed by a big group once the 7 PM show was about to begin while we waited over 30 minutes for our front row seats. We had a great time but would recommend a much better bag policy in the future!

Original 05/23 Just stood in line for dominator for 2 miserable hours for what was listed as a 30 minute wait on both the app and the sign, 45 minutes of which were right beside the cars, while 14 employees, maintenence and supervisors stood around drinking water and laughing for them to keep saying they didn't know what was wrong with it. We finally gave up. I have been to busch gardens multiple times this year and have never had such a ridiculous experience with seemingly no one giving 2 craps about the multiple people that literally fell to the ground from heat exposure. What a sorry excuse for a professional theme park. Update 10/28/24 I have now been to Kings Dominion 4 total days compared to Busch Gardens around 12 total days over the last few years. 3 of those 4 days at KD were the most ridiculous and inexcusable periods of confusion and operational incompetency that I have ever witnessed at a theme park. There is not enough room in this box to go into detail but anyone that has been there multiple times will probably understand because literally every issue I had there was either someone in front of me or behind me having the same issue that no employee either gave 2 cents about or knew what the actual policy is. Yes, KD is cheaper than BG. There is a reason why. Is it really justifiable to pay $1000 for your family to have a miserable time when you can pay a little more and not deal with any of the BS? An example of one of the many, many things that happened that are unimaginable. My wife had an asthma attack and forgot her inhaler in the vehicle. I told them when I ran through the exit gate. I ran back by 2 MINUTES later and asked if I could go back in, and he said no, but he would radio the entrance gate. I then waited in line to go back through the metal detector, and the inhaler set it off, and I explained again that I just ran to get her inhaler, and I needed to get it to her. The guy just looks at me and tells me to step aside while he let 30 people go through until the line was empty just so that he could hold the inhaler, keys and wallet to let me back in. If this does not summarize the ignorance of this place, then I don't know what does. Yes, I understand there are policies in place and people have jobs to do but I had no backpack or bags of any kind and I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt, so why would you make me go to the side and wait on everyone else to go through after I just explained the situation instead of letting me hand you those 3 items and let me go back through real quick.... This place is just absolutely horrible in all aspects and if it wasn't for the kids liking the rides here i would not step foot back in this place even if it was free.

There were a few years I really thought Kings Dominion was going downhill, but I can confidently say that is no longer the case in 2024! There are plenty of rides open, even in the fall during Haunt, which we've visited twice since it begun. There are also plenty of delicious dining options and yummy snacks at every corner. I recommend the souvenir cup, so you can get free soda refills all year! One thing: I do think they would clean the bathrooms more frequently. There are often unusable toilets and soap dispensers out of soap. It can make things a little chaotic when you are taking a toddler in there to get business done.

Fun time, especially during Halloween. There were a lot of haunted houses, although the ones that were the most fun were the corn maze and the trick or treat horror attraction (no candy there, though) would recommend. We got the all day dinning pass, and it was worth the cost.

This is such a great Amusement park in Virginia! I love to go here and grab drinks and snack then just sit around and chill. All of the rides are fun and the park is easy to navigate around. The seasonal events are amazing! Haunt, Winterfest, Carnival and Oktoberfest are so great!

Love kings dominion and its attractions o don't however agree with their policies... For example you can't smoke or vape on the premises but you can however drink alcohol to no limit and function around heavy and dangerous machines with children around which is very unsafe if not worse then smoking or vaping around them.... Take alcohol away from places that involve children no child should have to be around alcohol when they are in a theme park.... You can have fun with out alcohol...

Thrill seeker here so only the Roller Coasters for us. Project 305, Twisted Timbers and Flight of Fear being the best! Got the Fast Lane and had the best time! Only thing being that the Fast Lane should’ve included skip the line for Food too. And whatever food we had was overpriced and just not worth the time we’d to spend getting it.

If you’re going for the Halloween haunt attractions don’t wear face paint. They wouldn’t let my kids in til we took it off. Then we go inside and there’s face painting booths 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️ other than that it was fun. I don’t think parking needs to be 30 dollars though.

Took my daughter here for the very first time on her 8th birthday & let me just say Never AGAIN 😒the bathrooms were gross 🤢 And the food was terrible at firehouse BBQ spent a lot of money to make her day great and it just wasn't happening due to all the ridiculousness I don't recommend this place it's definitely not what it use to be back in the day it's changed so much maybe they're just very understaffed I have no idea but still no excuse for all the unsanitary messes.

Hello, So me and my family had gold season passes for about 5 years now. Well live in Baltimore Maryland so it’s a little distance for us to travel here. We went last weekend for the Halloween event mind it for the past 3 years we went the haunt is the same nothing really has changed. I’m giving 1 star for the simple fact you wait 45mins to get into a haunted house and within 1 or 2 mins your out the same. It’s like a walk in and walk out. For the amount of money people pay and time people wait to get in this should be a lot longer to walk though instead of pushing people though so fast u can’t even get a chance to look at anything or enjoy your experience inside the haunt. I could have went to a local haunted house and paid $40 and enjoyed a 30min walk though trail. Food is just about the same also. Nothing really changed with these events.

Brought my family and paid over $400 for fast lane tickets. The haunt line was like 3 hours long. However we got though kinda fast due to fast lane. But the haunts wasn’t scary and all took about 1 min to get though them. Definitely not worth the price and wait time.

We just took our first trip to Kings Dominion and we loved it! We have a season pass to Carowinds in NC, and decided to add the all-park passport that would get us into KD. We went on a Friday night during Haunt and all day/night on the Sunday before a public holiday. Friday night was not very busy. We bought fast passes for Sunday which were a life saver. The park was beautifully decorated with lights and Halloween everywhere. We were there for the roller coasters and they did not disappoint. The food options were not too great, many restaurants either had a very long wait and/or were out of food. But I am used to this on busy nights. I would say we enjoyed this park even more than Carowinds. It is a 4-hour drive for us, but we will be back!

If I was visiting from out of town, I would be disappointed. Several coasters not in service. Looks like a ghost town with half of concessions and midway open, etc. Water park needs maintenance as well. The only saving grace is twisted timbers...

i really love this park the ride lines are long as expected from a great park, but the reason i gave it 4 stars is because the food line are ridiculously long even the boardwalk fries stands, like REALLY LONG and its been like that for a few years now. it takes like 30min just to get a drink refill which is insane. the food lines are also crazy almost feels like there is only one of everything. they need to get a fix for that. maybe they should adapt and change at least the drink stands. i went to universal studios last year for their Halloween event and the souvenir drink cups have a chip on the bottom and they have unmanned Coca-Cola freestyle machines everywhere so when you place your cup on it it read the chip and you fill your cup very minimal wait. something like that will shorted the line at least alil.

My family and I went this weekend. The waits were long which was expected, but at least 5 different times the ride broke down after waiting for so long. We bought the meal plans and everything and spent so much money for this trip and it was so disappointing. We live in virginia and normally go to bush gardens but figured we take the longer trip to give it a chance. When I wrote customer service their response was that we should have checked wait times on the app.... it broke down.. wasn't about the wait.. which makes me think they didn't even read my email. Very frustrating experience.

This is a decent sized park with plenty for everyone, rides big and small, food and drinks galore, music, and fun carnival type games. It's easier to navigate using the tallest rides as reference points, the replica of the Eiffel Tower, the Drop Tower, and the Wind Seeker, as they can be spotted quickly from just about anywhere in the park. My favorite ride was the Intimidatitor 305, a thrilling rollercoaster ride. The Twisted Timber rollercoaster is actually pretty smooth for a wooden coaster ride. The Racer 75 is fairly straight, with hills, and quite fast. The Drop Tower is an exhilarating free-fall from 305 feet, and it WILL take away your breath. There are plenty of rides, big and small, an abundance of food and drinks, including beer, music and entertainment, and fun carnival games. There is a new rollercoaster, the Reptican, debuting in the 2025 season. Of course, the Oktoberfest, Halloween, and Christmas themes are worth a visit.

We went Sunday 13th. We were there for the Haunted Fest, but decided to arrive at 4pm to take daylight pics and go to October Fest. There was a good amount of people there, but NOT crowded. The crowds started arriving after dark, but it wasn't bad. Flight of Fear said 45 min wait. The line moved fast, but the whole experience took 58 minutes. It wasn't a bad wait. On average, we spent 5 to 45 minutes in lines (our other rides were 2nd and third most popular, though). Project 305 shut down after my sister waited in line for an hour. The website app froze on my phone. We think it's because everyone was checking for updates on shows, Haunted houses and popular coaster times. We couldn't find October Fest and it closes at 6pm. Turns out, it's a small area near the arcade and merry-go-round. The decorations were AWESOME! Lots of photos opportunities. We're glad we got some day pics. I was worried about scares and considered buying the lite up NO BOO necklace to keep ghoul actors away. I'm glad I didn't. The actors were great! The scares are in the comic range, but well into piss-your pants creepy because they use the darkness to just walk up on you.....and with you! I ended up talking to my sister for a good 3-4 seconds before I turned and saw a horrific clown thing walking with me listening! My sister was standing way back just looking at me. Yeah....I screamed. We haven't been here in years. We were there 8 hours and road 3 coasters and 3 Haunted houses (Trick or Treat, FEAR, Monster Con). And the 9pm Burlesque show was better than I thought it would be!! We lost time sight seeing and getting lost. We bought a Fun Day pass (ticket to park with all day food). $69.99 on Sat and Sunday. You can eat every 90 minutes. We 1st ate at 9:30pm, so we couldn't eat again until 11pm- 1 hour from closing. It was worth it, since simple meals start at $17.99 and the Fun Day ticket costs $10 more than the regular entry pass with no food. Restaurants were trying to shut down by 11:15pm. The performers were still doing the finale show at 11:30 or 40pm. People were trying to watch, but also trying to beat others to the parking lot and hotel shuttles. If you take UBER, tell the driver to tell security that they are DROPPING OFF or PICKING UP people. They'll get in and out easier then. Bathrooms were basically clean. Ghoul actors had almost disappeared by then, but it had been a long GREAT scare day!

There is simply nothing to praise about this place, the staff or the food. Avoid. Having served bottles of beer it took over an hour to get any attention and another hour before food was delivered to the table. The rushed and slightly grumpy owner of the place was assisted by a scruffy looking person in a basball hat; a person with a “not my place mate, I’m only helping out” uninterested attitude.

Been using them for years. They changed hands a while back and for a while the quality dropped a little but has recovered. I am a regular and the food is very good. They do some gluten free options for my wife which is great. Love the capitol ribs. The previous cook did beatiful rice and now it is not quite the same - a bit dry - but otherwise we are very happy with them and they are always friendly and helpful.
