Large, but quirky and totally cozy. Anchor Burger is a definite recommendation, and if you sit by the window overlooking the Thames – top notch.

Not recommended! We were seatet at a table that We reserved but then they Said We couldnt sit here and were Like okay hopefully the Food is Good. It wasn’t the chicken was as hard as a rock and the fries had a special seasoning which tasted like nothing. We didn’t even get sauce with it. The waiters were also rude! There are much better restaurants to go to.

A traditional pub to discover for the setting and atmosphere, service at the bar for orders and then the dishes are brought to the table. Simple cuisine such as burgers, meats, fish and chips, fried chicken... Hearty and well executed for 6 people, everyone was satisfied.

Beautiful, historic pub, near the London Bridge stop. After 4pm in the afternoon an incredible atmosphere is created: music, free flowing beer and London Bridge in the background. Three stars for the service because if you want to eat something you have to do everything independently, there is no waiter to "help" you

Oldest pub in London (first mentioned in 1615). Accordingly, there are always a lot of people and few free places (waiting times must be expected). Took a seat outside and had a burger and beer. Very tasty food and good selection of drinks. Unfortunately very loud music but a great selection of tracks. Sanitary facilities leave a lot to be desired but if you take into account the age of the location you can turn a blind eye.

The Anchor Bankside is a fantastic historic pub with a prime location right by the Thames, offering stunning views of the London skyline. The atmosphere is lively and quintessentially British, making it a great spot for both tourists and locals. The outdoor seating is a major highlight—perfect for sunny days with a pint in hand. The drink selection is solid, with a good range of beers, ciders, and classic pub fare. The fish and chips were decent, though not the best I’ve had, and the service was friendly but could be a bit quicker during peak times. It does get very crowded, especially on weekends, so finding a seat can be a challenge. Prices are a tad high, but you’re paying for the location. Overall, a great place for drinks with a view, but go early to secure a good spot!

We were walking along the Thames and found this adorable pub! It was a beautiful, sunny spring day and many people were enjoying their afterwork here! We were under it. The atmosphere was so great and the ambience was a dream! Really connected to England! When it got dark we decided to eat at the pub! Unfortunately the food wasn't good and once again cold (burger) neither the meat in the burger nor the buns or the fries! I can 100% recommend the pub for drinks, unfortunately not the kitchen!

But if u looking for an active pub, this aint the one, the thing is i came for lunch and i maybe be wrong. But in the daytime its very dull and the food takes a lot of time to arrive. I arrived at this lovely pub yesterday evening to sit down outside the front at a table with a drink. I went in to the bar to order a cider to which the nice lady working behind the bar informed me, along with others in the queue, that if you had a glass and were outside, you must be at a table. I brought my drink out and sat down at a table outside. I had quite a lot of items with me and was alone so I placed everything under the table. One of the lady bouncers approached me and the table beside me to say we were not allowed out there with glasses and we must get plastic cups. When I explained what the bar woman had told me her reply was “you are lying”. While this was quite a rude reply and made me feel uncomfortable I accepted her request and the gentleman at the table beside me offered to get me a plastic cup as I was alone and had a lot of items. As she stood standing over me, the gentleman returned with a plastic glass so I poured my drink in. This bouncers next comment was “now bring that empty glass inside”. I explained again that I was alone and had quite a lot of belongings and didn’t want to carry all of them and leave my drink there unattended. Her reply was “bring it in now”. My plan was to have another drink there as it is a lovely bar to sit in, but after how uncomfortable and stressed this bouncer made me feel, I decided against. What angered me further after this incident, numerous people came to sit outside with their glasses and were not bothered by said bouncer. As I mentioned, lovely bar and bar staff, just a shame that it was ruined by one bouncer.

The Anchor is a historic bar with a rich connection to literary history, including being a place where Shakespeare is believed to have spent time. The bar retains much of its original charm, featuring exposed beams, wooden furnishings, and a warm, traditional atmosphere. It offers a wide selection of ales, beers, and craft cocktails, along with a solid menu of classic pub fare. The staff is knowledgeable about the bar’s history and the drink offerings. Its riverside location provides a scenic view, adding to the overall experience. A well-preserved piece of history and a great spot for drinks.

A real disaster: the worst place we have been to in London The Anchor was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience of our trip. We made a reservation in advance for dinner at 9:30 p.m., but upon arriving at 9:00 p.m. we were informed that the kitchen closed at 10:00 p.m. Why are they taking reservations at that time if they clearly have no intention of offering a decent dining experience? Far from settling in a space prepared for a dinner, they relegated us to a corner of the cocktail bar, with a completely improvised and listless service. It seemed like we were annoying more than anything else. The food was an absolute disaster: • The fish and chips was by far the worst we have eaten in London. Nothing like the quality expected in a British pub: the batter was greasy and textureless, and the fish lacked flavour. • The nachos were the strangest thing we have ever tasted. Instead of the traditional ones, they served us some thick tortilla chips, with a raw interior and an unpleasant texture. Absolute nonsense. • The onion rings were unremarkable, tasteless and lacking the expected crunch. The service was pitiful. At no time was there interest in our experience or in correcting the disaster they were serving. It's a real shame because the place is beautiful and has an unbeatable location, but the treatment, the organization and the quality of the food make it not even worth it. There are many other places in London where you can have a good dinner without having to go through such a disappointing experience like this. We do not recommend it under any circumstances.

Met with colleagues from work to celebrate an achievement at this pub however the evening turned out disgusting. We ordered our drinks and after a few sips before stepping out, after informing their staff member, we returned to our surprise that mine and my friend drinks were taken out. Spoke to the bartender about this issue hoping in an amichevole resolution but it was disappointing how rude , unprofessional and gaslighting hers and her supervisor approach was towards myself and my friend. Despite the lengthy explanation from the bouncer they promptly blamed us for their mistake. We were accused of leaving our drink unattended for less than 5 minutes despite having informed a staff member. The tone of language and dismissive behaviour I encountered is below the expected standards of costumer services. At no point there was intention to de-escalate or coming to understanding instead it was a constant mockery. Nevertheless, we spent our night elsewhere with few more rounds for our celebrations. It appears some venues lack class and don't intend to do business. I suggest to enroll your staff in costumer services training and how to speak to people in a professional manner.

I went to this pub on a school trip, obviously I was, like my classmates, looking for alcohol. We came across this nice looking pub and it looked promising. After seeing the drink menu I decide to have a mojito, there I made a mistake. The "mojito" was sparkling water with a little lemon. Even people who didn't even drink could notice the alcohol in the drink. For £9 very not recommended, rather go for beer which is better.

Wonderful service. Perfect work atmosphere. The quiet rustle of trains above my head was the wind beneath my wings as I trekked through the working day. Cheeky wine at lunch (don’t tell the boss!) had my buzzing. The friendly staff behind the counter had me feeling welcome and seen - they complimented my wolf cut! Good bit of banter that. Just off a tangent from the high street is a lovely location. Not too busy but enough wandering souls and stories to reinforce the sense of community. Sometimes whenlife quietens down i’m reminded of the lonely nights i endured when my brother ran away with my husband back to Panama. So that’s a bonus! Overall, great time would recommend and will be returning. P.s. tuna melt was a bit dense laid down a brick, would personally give it 3-5 working days.
