Anchor - Bankside is a gem for a cozy catch-up with friends or a charming date night. Tucked along the Thames, its warm, wood-paneled interior feels like a hug, perfect for escaping London’s hustle. The vibe is quintessentially British, with a lively yet intimate feel. I loved the seasonal outdoor terrace—ideal for summer pints with South Bank views. Food is tasty (think classic pub grub), but mains around £18-£22 feel steep for the portion. Staff are welcoming, though the pub gets packed, especially on weekends, so book ahead.

We came here for a pint on a lovely spring daym Would also be perfect when it's cold and rainy to explore the different rooms.

Lovely outdoor space for a quick drink with friends. A Pimms is £9 though, so not cheap, and the tables are not cleared quickly enough.

Be careful, my backpack was stolen in this restaurant!!! It was when I was leaving that I realized it so I don't know what happened but the waitress seemed strange to me. She did nothing to help me. Other servers checked the surveillance cameras but apparently couldn't see anything. Apart from that the decor is nice, we eat well but nothing incredible. Budget-wise it's expensive but like everywhere in London. In short, I won't go back!

The Anchor is an historic London pub. Dating from the early 16th Century it has had incredibly famous patrons, including one Will Shakespeare. No visit to the south Bank is complete without a stop at The Anchor. On a sunny day try to grab a table outside near the river. On a windy or rainy day stay in the bar. Just don't miss the Anchor.

Non stupid restaurant I do not recommend this restaurant. The drink I had ordered was not served to me, and an exchange was refused. In addition, my friend received her dish ten minutes before the other guests.

😡😡😡Disappointing review – experience below expectations I was curious to discover this restaurant, but unfortunately the experience was not up to par. The dishes, although nicely described on the menu, clearly lacked flavor and freshness. The Fish & Chips, although a classic, was too fatty, and the fish lacked taste. The Chicken Kyiv was dry, and the accompaniment very basic. In addition, the service was slow despite a half-empty room, and we had the impression that the team was overwhelmed or not attentive. For the prices displayed, I expected a whole new level, both in quality and presentation. A beautiful setting is not enough to make up for a disappointing meal. I don't think I'll go back, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a real dining experience. If my opinion is not published, I will put it on all sites

Popped in with some friends our first time there, we were served by such a lovely girl called Klaudia. She made our visit so seamless and enjoyable Will definitely be back for another visit

Lovely pub. We only had drinks but it has a cosy ambience, pleasant staff, reasonable prices (for London), and it's close to the river.

Lovely staff, possibly the worst Sunday roast I’ve ever had in my life

We were waiting 50 minutes for the “traditional” fish and chips food dish!!! We had to ask if the delay was normal and the staff was surprised and brought us the order within 20 minutes after the complaint. We thought that unfortunately they had never placed the order. It was a total waste of time. For normal food quality and taste. I definitely wouldn't eat at this place again. I recommend just coming for a beer or a cocktail.

One of the warmest spring days, a lot of people were out, felt like an October beer festival. The pub food is good and a variety of draft beers, it was excellent.

Just a stop at the pub. Nice atmosphere and place, pub to discover both outside and inside!

Came in for a few drinks and stayed the whole night. Shannon and David poured excellent drafts, while Jess made perfect gin and tonics among other cocktails. The three bartenders were lovely and fun to talk with throughout the evening. As the busy crowd came in we were not missed as they kept the drinks flowing! It was a perfect way to end a busy day!

So i wasn't impressed by the food, but maybe that the way in london. I was looking forward to fish and chips and they were pretty basic and bland sadly to my likings and the burgers seemed to be very lean and dry.

Klaudia was absolutely lovely! So cheerful and welcoming — she really brightened up our night. Her laugh is contagious and she kept the whole bar entertained with her quick wit and genuine warmth. You don’t come across people like her often. Definitely coming back! -Joseph C.

It was amazing pub, I come from the russia and my friends local say thus good place. I go and food was not successful. Tasty drinks and very nice set up, there was girl in bar. I come and she have nice smile and joy character. Klaudia make this experience very good for me. Bravo.

Personally I did not enjoy the food but the lovely lady Klaudia who served me that day really added to the experience. I liked the setting and atmosphere, the location obviously is unmatched. And the staff were lovely, she couldn't stop making us laugh

Perfect location, next to the Thames to either enjoy your meal or drink. We sat on the terrace in the evening, Christmas time, and the atmosphere was unique. We enjoyed mulled wine (warm wine), music matching the atmosphere and in general it was the ideal way to end our evening.

Incredible location with a very beautiful river view. A little cold in the outside area but still worth it. Mainly beer and some snacks.

We went to the decking outside the anchor pub. It was really busy with a good vibe but with nowhere to really stand in your own space we only stayed for one drink. The toilets in the gents were really bad one was blocked and full to brim with dirty water and toilet paper.

Lovely Sunday roast (with the best cauliflower I've had anywhere), lots of seats, nice atmosphere. Prices in line with the London standards.

Visited London for Easter bank holiday, was served a nice aspall by lovely Keira who was so attentive and kind - cute pub in London Bridge! Would definitely recommend!

The food is delicious (definitely go for the seasoned fries) and rapidly served. The staff is really nice and welcoming. Do not hesitate !

The atmosphere in the restaurant was amazing. The confusion of walkways in rooms at a kind of mystery to the place. You can feel the age of the building which almost takes you to another time. But for new visitors this can be kind of disorientating, since there isn't anyone to let you know where to order or how do secure a table properly. In our visit my one major complaint was that out of the three bathroom stalls and the ladies room, only one was working. It seemed the staff never went back to check on the bathrooms and there was no toilet paper in the one remaining stall. There is no grabbing toilet paper from the malfunctioning toilets either since they were locked. It was not the maintenance I would have expected.

I had a pleasant visit to this pub. The food was okay, just normal, nothing extraordinary, but not bad either. The service was rather simple - you had to order food at the bar and it was then brought to your table. This worked well for me, although it may be a bit unusual. The location is really great, right near a party yard from the Bourogh Market, which makes the visit even more pleasant. Overall, I would give the pub four stars - for the good location and the acceptable food, even if the service is a bit simple.

Considered one of the oldest pubs in London, this splendid venue overlooking the Thames offers a range of good dishes and excellent beer. Portions not so large with prices in line with other places in London.

This is an absolute 10. Must go. Cant believe how people give it a 4.3. Clearly an absolute 10 and must know place.

Yasmine provided so much attention and care on the stand next to the bridges of London. Definitely recommend trying out their beers!

Excellent pub. They have many bartenders but Ethan was the greatest of all time. He should be given a raise and the woman of his choosing..

Super friendly waitress at the bar and good discussion with the tourists we were. Good advice on beers. A nice break from the rush of the Borough Market stalls. A small accident of spilled beer on our table when we bumped into our table, she immediately refilled the level without us having to ask.

Large, but quirky and totally cozy. Anchor Burger is a definite recommendation, and if you sit by the window overlooking the Thames – top notch.

Not recommended! We were seatet at a table that We reserved but then they Said We couldnt sit here and were Like okay hopefully the Food is Good. It wasn’t the chicken was as hard as a rock and the fries had a special seasoning which tasted like nothing. We didn’t even get sauce with it. The waiters were also rude! There are much better restaurants to go to.

We were served by a waiter who lived in France and moved to London. Food expensive for the portion offered. Too bad he doesn't tell us that other bars have other drinks when you don't particularly like beer.
