Amun's Restaurant & Shisha Garden in Brighton and Hove

We booked for a group of 6 for Father's Day at 4pm.When we walked past earlier in the day we thought we'd pop in to see if we can make the booking 30 mins later. No-one was in the restaurant at 3pm, considering that it should have opened at 1pm. Tried to call several times, no answer. Came back at 3:30, still no-one there and no answer on the phone. We had no call from anyone telling us that there is a problem that day at the restaurant. So we booked somewhere at short notice. Luckily Father's Day wasn't ruined. But we would not have known unless we happened to be walking past.Disgrace.

Amun was welcoming and very kind when we arrived for a planned dinner here after reading the superb reviews! I'd had an upsetting event of dropping my keys down a drain shortly before our arrival and he went out of his way to find a device that would assist me in my retrieval of them! Anyway, I digress!The restaurant is small but clean. There is fantastic choice of food and both our meals were freshly cooked to order. It. Was. Delicious!!!! Also very reasonably priced. The reviews are spot on for this place - you will not be disappointed. We will without a doubt be returning customers.

Great delivery time, food arrived piping hot and it tasted phenomenal, amazing portion sizes. Chicken wings had so much flavour and came off the bone perfectly. Chicken taok was unbelievable and so tender and cheesy chips were delicious. Would order from here again in a heartbeat, catered to my every need without fuss which as a picky eater is a god send. Rice was cooked better than I've ever been able to make. Five stars

Lovely food, huge portions and the friendliest welcome you will find anywhere! There’s lots on the menu so we willbe back to try some more of the good food here. The place is immaculately clean and the staff and owner couldn’t be nicer. Definitely worth a visit.

The food was very good, amazing tast and very special! It is very special and authentic food from good quality! It is all homemade, even the fantastic deserts! The service is super nice and helpfull and is happy to explain you the menu and the highlights! Highly recommend it!

The food is great, we have order delivery a few times and it's always very good and tasty. Definitely a must in poets corner. The manager is very friendly too!

Day 2 in Hove and middle eastern / Mediterranean food was on the menu.Although the price was on the high side, I had the most amazing mixed grill so worth every penny. It was also proper meat and not bulked out with donner meat which so many other places offer.Kofta was amazing. I could have eaten a whole plate of these. Tasted fresh and light with the perfect amount of seasoning. The good experienced followed with the Lamb shish and chicken taouk.This has to be in my top ten of mixed grills

This is a good place for not only Egyptian food but for ghe more fussy eaters (kids) you can get a burger and fries if you need it. They have a variety of mixed grill. Vegetarian and fish options so there is somthing for everyone. Main meals come with rice and salad, drinks are separate ecept if you oder one of the mean deals so look out for those on the menu. The food is no spicy but they can make if so if you needed it. The soups are hearty and

i have eaten here since it opened and never had any doubt that the food would be ample,hot,fresh,and they will cook it how you want it.plenty of dishes to choose from the staff are friendly and allways helpful.this is a great venue for parties or for couples.

I've lived close to this takeaway since it opened and never really bothered with it because the previous place was pretty dire. The new owners are spot on with quality food and speedy delivery. The prices are reasonable and very nice staff. I order regularly with them now. Very happy with the food & service.

You wouldn’t even know it’s there if you hadn’t heard of it. It’s a regular haunt of mine. I’m a typical English girl that loves Egypt & this is a little Egyptian hideaway in Hove. I’ve been here more times than I can remember & always have a mint Shisha. Sometimes mixed with something else sometimes not. I can highly recommend the hummus-I prefer mine without the oil on top & the falafel wraps are divine. They even have pomegranate seeds in. The warm bread is lovely to dip in the hummus. My fiancé always has the “bob” burger. ITS MASSIVE!! The mango smoothie is worth every penny & the mint teas are perfect (I’m a proper tea snob). The staff are hard working & lovely & the Guv’nor isn’t bad either

Lot's of microwaved food, service was without smiles and the general ambience was like being at a morgue. Many many more great places to visit in Brighton and Hove. These guys need to up the ante big time.

Had a great time with the family. More than great service, friendly staff, amazing food and brilliant shisha atmosphere. We absolutely enjoyed everything we ordered, the chicken shawarma and ocra were exceptional. Much recommended for a delicious meal followed by shisha and winning at backgammon against everyone.

This is a must of a visit for any food lover..many dishes worthy of a try.nice and friendly.im hooked,been back many times.

Quality food at a great price, eat in or takeaway. They have one of the nicest shisha bars in Brighton and the staff are always lovely. They are happy to change the menu to fit my diet and always go the extra mile.

What a find! Freshly cooked, clean, delicious food. Healthy alternative to local more higher priced menus with a ‘bring your own’ wine/tipple as an added bonus :-) Service second to none with no effort just natural friendliness. So pleased we found this place, recently moved into the area with our two young sons. Everyone full, feed, and happy. Can’t wait to come back!

Extremely authentic food, amazing flavor, fast delivery and lovely service. Honestly I would recommend this to you whether you fancy lunch, dinner or a quick bite.

Took friends to experience Amuns. Owner is friendly and helpful. Food is Egyptian freshly cooked and tastes excellent. Very reasonably priced. Restaurant has no drinks licence but works on a BYOB basis with no corkage charge. We will definitely be going back.

Having recently moved into Portland Road, I thought I'd give Amun's a try, not quite knowing what to expect as I've never had the pleasure of trying Egyptian food. I was not disappointed and thoroughly enjoyed my take out, which was cooked as I waited and was quick, tasty and great value for money.

This place has great food. Always fresh and tastes amazing, Iv tried most of the kebabs in the menu and they all were great! If you like Middle Eastern food this is the place to go.

All my friends been taking about Amun's. I went with my friends and we had an amazing time. The staff are very friendly and the food is just perfect. I recommend the chicken liver for starters and they mix grill. My friend had the fish fillet and he loved it.

The restaurant is great to eat in and to get the food delivered, the food is always made to order, hot and arrives really fast. Highly recommend Amun's for a perfect meal with a great portion and a great taste. Staff are also super friendly and do their best to serve your needs.

Do not underestimate this place. The food is amongst the top places in hove! Loved the escalope & burger Well done amuns!

Only been open a couple of weeks but decided it was worth a try and the hospitality from the owner (who told us he was from the Sudan) was second to none.
