Amrit Indian Restaurant in St Albans

It is a great atmosphere, the food is excellent and the service is impeccable. I really do recommend going there. And when it’s your birthday they give you a slice of chocolate cake.

Been here few times about time I leave a review. Amazing top level food! Never rushed service always attentive and kind gentle customer service. Highly recommended compared to other indian restaurants its worth every penny spent!

Came here on the strength of the reviews while staying overnight in St Albans, and we were not disappointed: food was really good (the only vaguely negative comment from our group of five was that the chicken tikka massalla "tasted different" to what she was used to) and the service was swift and attentive (e.g., when drinks were running low). Chicken tikka vindaloo was my high point, with the Amrit Special naan a close second. Weird shaped restaurant, with some tables on a raised area, but it worked (even though they had to get the food trolley up a step!)

Never lets you down! Top flavour and great atmosphere on a Saturday night! Good buzz but quiet enough to hold a good conversation with friends!

This place is the best is St Albans for an Indian, the service is out of this world and the food is incredible. The staff are lovely and so welcoming

Just to start with, the food at Amrit wasn’t bad, the leg of lamb was very good and pretty unique thus I’m trying to give a fair review based on our experience - We visited Amrit with a party of 15 and spent close to £500. Now for the negative points, we started with a round of drinks – 5 of the soft drinks/mixers tasted funny and upon checking, the expiry date was 2024, whilst they replaced these pretty quickly – this wasn’t acceptable. I would also add that the replacement drinks were also due to expire the following week!! Next was the round of various starters – we waited approx. 30 mins between the first set of starters (masala chips) and the all the rest. As an apology the kitchen sent extra starters – apparently the kitchen wasn’t told we wanted these as starters and not main meals. The starters were ok bar the chicken pieces which were very dry. The main meal food was good, little to complain about here. They did send out extra vegetarian dishes which we were not to our taste. Then came the bill, a few of the party spoke to the manager on the issues and when we received the bill he explained that they couldn’t reduce the bill as they sent out extra food (which we didn’t ask for). On top of that they charged us a 10% service charge. I left it with the manager to see what he could do and did explain that I would be giving a review regardless. He ended up taking of approx. £15 of the service charge, now I didn’t argue but I didn’t think it was acceptable. Taking £15 off a service charge when we spend close to £500, in my opinion wasn’t acceptable. I’m not sure we would return to Amrit, whilst the food was good, there are lots of very good Indian restaurants in St Albans, and getting charged for a lack of service was definitely not on.

A great flavour profile reflected with a traditional spice and amazing hospitality. A real gem in st Alban's with a focus on customer service and quality.

The restaurant was a lovely vibe the staff was amazing and friendly very helpful at all times the food was brilliant very tasty and was out very fast didn’t have to wait long at all the staff was very on the ball always asking if everything was okay! Would 100% recommend to anyone

We had a lovely meal at Amrit just before Christmas 2024. We were a big group and everyone said that their meal was delicious. There was a great atmosphere, and the staff could not have been better or friendlier. Thank you!

Visited as a group of friends for a mid-week Christmas curry. The restaurant was buzzing. The food was excellent and friendly team. Would highly recommend.

Top flavour, top service! Madras was phenomenal... The bhajji and samosahad great flavours and the bread was well delivered.

We met our friends at this fab restaurant, which happens to be a half way point between where we all live (2 hrs drive). We chose the restaurant based on Tripadvisor reviews and we certainly were not disappointed!! Lovely building inside and out, with extremely friendly staff who could not do enough for us. The aircon was very welcome on a hot evening and we particularly enjoyed the water feature. We tried a few new dishes to us, all of the food was outstanding! Well done Amrit! Maybe see you next time we’re in your area. Not to mention great company with our good friends (even though they stitched me up in a game that’s been doing the rounds on Tiktok 😂😂) All in all a super evening ❤️

We had such a wonderful evening here last night. I never write reviews but it was so nice that I had to! We all had different food and all were delicious. My curry was the best I have had in a long time, so much so that I had to take leftovers home because I couldn't waste it!! On top of that, the service was excellent. Such friendly staff that really made the evening. Will defenitely be returning - hopefully a lot!
