I often visit here with friends and the service is good and the food is delicious and very reasonable (for two people it is about £20). We enjoyed a refreshing mango lassi along with a thali and a chilli paneer (a must have!).

Amazing food: fresh, tasty and could never be called bland. My daughter and I love the paneer dosa. I have been coming here for years with family and friends and the food has never been less than delicious and the service is excellent.

Food was ok a bit greasy. I had the thali, wasn't anywhere as good as I've had elsewhere. Not sure if we'll return. The waiter was very helpful and friendly. It's very cheap.

The food at Amitas is amazing! I'm a vegetarian and it's such a treat to have an incredible array of tasty dishes to chose from. Everything is so flavoursome, is presented nicely, has a variety of textures and has a good kick. The service is also really good and smiley. The atmosphere isn't as great - quite a large restaurant (I prefer cosier establishments) and bright lights - but the food is so good I still have to give 5/5! I'd definitely recommend Amitas for large groups because there's lots of space and big tables available and they don't seem to mind noise.

A friend and I discovered this place once when he came to London from work and fancied some paneer. We came to Amita's in East London about 2 years ago and have been coming here every week ever since. Even if he is not working in London, he'll drive from Peterborough to east London especially for the food here. The service is great - we've always been served by the same waiter (who knows our order by heart), and the ambiance in the place is very nice - softly played music in the background and not ridiculously loud. The price is adequate and hasn't really changed since we've been going. I've listed below what we usually order. It's a little gem - but far too quiet - for the life of me I don't know why it's not much more busier - possibly because it's pure vegetarian. But the paneer is fantastic!Definitely recommend it, especially for the paneer, but the food as a whole is great - some of the choices on the menu you won't find in many places (khandvi being one of them). Our usual order:1 x paneer chilli gravy1 x paneer tikka masala1 x portion roti1 x butter naan

We have visited this restaurant in Green street on multiple occasions the last being in March 2013. We are a family with 2 children (5 year & 1 year old). This restaurant is truly a treat for Vegetarians. The cuisine is a mix of Gujarati-Indian, South-Indian and Indo-Chinese fusion dishes. The food is really delicious and can vouch for it as we eat only vegetarian food. Our long time favourite has been the Chinese sizzler and the Amitas specialty sizzler. The ambience is excellent and decor pretty modern. The best part is that you dont come out of the restaurant with the smell lingering onto your clothes. What sets this place apart is the service which can range from exceptionally good to downright eccentric which adds to the experience. The restaurant appears to be a family run unit and as far as I can recall has no trained waiters/servers and the orders are taken and served by family members. The gentleman who waits upon the table for your custom is forgetful and can forget to get water or other dishes you have ordered. Otherwise the service is pleasant, friendly, has a personal touch and is at a relaxed pace. Dishes are value-for-money considering that they are exceptionally good and freshly made. The restaurant also has a savoury/snack bar from which you can pick up various Indian savouries/sweets. Our favourite sweet has always been the freshly made hot Jalebi's. Again these are invariably delicious. The restaurant is family friendly and my daughter loves going here. All in all if you love your food (vegetarian) and have a sense of humour then you will enjoy the experience and talk of the service for sometime. I am sure that you will return as we often do

I could not fault this place. Great food and cheap! Lovely waiter. I read this was London's #1 Indian vegetarian restaurant so went there expecting a line up. It was quiet as I went early. I will definitely be back, it's also on Green Street which I found fascinating with all of the beautiful saree's. Make the trip, you won't be disappointed.

My family and I visited Amitas for a birthday, so a large mix of kids and adults. The menu had an excellent choice of traditional gujerati, south indian and indo chinese dishes to suit all taste. When the food arrived, it was delivered to the taste that we requested, i.e. not too hot and spicy for the younglings and the portion sizes were also generous! The food presentation was also very good, so was the taste and the service. By 8pm Sunday, the place was busy and full of many satisfied customers! Only downside is location as parking near Greenstreet can be difficult. In summary, this place comes highly recommended as the food, hosts and presentation are all on very good as I have done my fair share of veg eat outs in this area! Considering that Green Street is full of of poor quality eat outs that cater for the Bangla community ('Chicken Fried this', 'Chicken Fried that', 'Bangla Curry Houses'), Amita's place makes a refreshing change as your cloths do not stink of curry, burnt mustard oil and fish! Give it a try as you will not be disapointed!

We are fortunate in London, because you can find some really good food and good value - and this is one such place, slighly off the beaten track, but well worth a visit. Enjoyed a meal there, very good value, and freshly cooked in the kitchen by the wife of the owner. Dosa, roti, lovely tasty curries, that the family must have cooked for generations, when they were in India, then Uganda then UK! Well worth a visit to this good restaurant, to enjoy good meal at good prices. Casava, this appeared on the menu, and I do believe that this is probably an addition from Africa. Shall be going there again soon.

An absolute continuing favourite of ours. Totally vegetarian. Good varied menu. There are no thalis priced near to £10.00 as another contributor has remarked, they are about £7.95. The thalis always include a little dessert be it gulab jamon, jangiri or a little halwa. The dosa are extremely good. The coriander chutney is simply divine. Good lassi also. The owners are always on hand and they and the staff are welcoming and friendly. A relaxed place. Draught beer now available. Evening parking in any side street nearby.

Amitas is vegetarian restaurant selling Gujarati food - savouries and sweets and a restaurant if you need to sit down. This is a common feature of the lovely restaurants on Green Street. The menu includes chaats, south Indian dosas, and Indian-Chinese dishes. Including thalis and other items cost less than a fiver. A glass of wine, beer, or spirit is £2.50 or £2.90. The food is excellent I recommend khandvi (savoury chickpea flour ‘swiss rolls') and dhokra (steamed lentil cakes) and the samosa. Get out to the East End and experience this and the other gems on Green Street.

The only place my Grandmother will allow me to buy somosas - not for westernised taste buds either, these are the real thing. I buy them by the dozen but never have got a full complement home intact yet.

I recently 19-09-24 ordered mutton kottu roti from this restaurant for takeaway and was extremely disappointed with my experience. I specifically asked for my dish to be made medium spicy, but what I received was way beyond that so spicy that it was almost unbearable. The heat completely overpowered the flavors, making it hard to enjoy the meal. To make matters worse, it left my stomach feeling upset not long after eating. It’s frustrating when special requests are ignored, especially when it affects the entire dining experience. I won’t be ordering from here again anytime soon. not recommended for kottu roti fan👎 waste of money. I always order from here many times but never happen like this before, but this my 2nd order with in a month but both times disappointed.

Have been here in the past and it was good but was very disappointed last night. Service wasn’t friendly, vegetable dishes had no flavour at all and were very bland. I had to ring multiple times throughout the day to even get through to make a reservation. Wouldn’t come back

Naans are not fresh. They look like the one bought from Tesco or other stores and just reheats them as fresh Naan bread are not that soggy and fluffy unless you mix lot of yeast in them as it sounds with the one at this place. They are certainly not made at fresh. Customers want taste and freshness and you can’t compensate this with the size.
