Amigos Mexican Kitchen in Sheffield

Really enjoyed my visit to Amigos. A great range of mexican food and curries. A separate vegan menu. Really friendly attentive staff. Good value for money.

The staff were pleasant, the food was nice ( a little processed ), the Mexican feel was a big fat ZERO. Added to their no alcohol thing ( you can bring your own). If you're looking for an authentic Mexican evening, try somewhere else!

Respect is very important, you don't have it

We had to wait over three hours for food. First the only waitress in the place, mixed up our order considering there were only two other tables other than ours. The manager/owner did apologise but dint bother to make it up to us with any complimentary food or discount. The restaurant was freezing cold. The food itself was nice when we eventually got it but it was not worth over three hours of wait. At the end had to go to the desk to pay ourselves as no one bothered coming and checking up on us.. Disappointment!!

Amazing amazing food! Im not from sheffield and fancied some mexican. Me and my partner ordered loaded beef chilli nachos and ive never liked beef chilli nachos from any restaurant but this place is my favourite for them! also ordered loaded beef chilli fries, a chimichanga and burrito. so so honestly delicious. Thankyou for the food and service!

Not only do amigos do Mexican food, but also Asian quisuine too, absolutely loved it.

It's not bad for Mexican food. Definitely space for changes and upgrades.

The food here is amazing, and we always enjoy our meals out. The service is fantastic and the staff can't do enough for you. In winter, the restaurant can be a little chilly, so wear a jumper!

I've been here twice in the last 2 months. The first visit wasn't great but I wanted to give it another chance.The food is mediocre at best but the waiting times are horrendous. The person who served us came after a couple of minutes but we asked for 5 more minutes to decide on the food. Nobody came to take our order until 40 minutes later. The restaurant was pretty much empty and it was incredibly cold there. When we finally ordered , our food was accidentally given to another table ( people who came much later after us). They started eating it and only after telling the waitress , we have been waiting forever the staff realised that the food was supposed to be ours. They apologised. We waited for our food for about an hour if not more. Technically it took 2 hours only to order food and actually get it. Probably the worst service I've come across in the last 10 years.

Took the main meals over an hour to come out, food was cold had to send it back. Quesadilla was only half full most of it was just wrap. Very disappointing as it used to be so good 😔

The best Mexican around, had to find a good one so support it and keep it going, food has always been brilliant form here and very reasonable if it’s been sitting in or takeaway, staff are friendly too

Who on earth puts peas and green beans inside a burrito? Bleh. It was extremely salty, dry, and the filling was 80% rice and those poor peas and beans... It was more like fried rice in a tortilla. Never again! There are too many places in Sheffield serving much better mexican cuisine.

Fantastic customer service. In particular 2 amazing workers, Kamil and Zayan who were extremely hardworking. Furthermore the Christmas decorations were spectacular.

We tried the new Indian/Mexican menu for the first time. It was brilliant 👏 even better than before and I didn't think that was possible. We recommend the Butter Chicken Masala and Lamb Barbacoa followed by chocolate brownie and Lotus Crumble. This is 5 STAR in S2, Gorgeous food.

This resturant is one of my favroute place, same high quality food standards for years and years. Highly recomanded.

Absolutely disappointed. Waited 1hr 20minutes for food. ordered a lamb shank, the lamb shank stunk so badly and was over cooked. After telling the staff they just said sorry and said they will take it off the bill. Travelled 1h and 20minutes to attend here. Asked if I would like to pay for another meal. Absolutely disgusted with the service and owner!

Excellent food as always, I had fajitas and my wife had quasidillas. I usually have lamb chops which are highly recommended but the fajitas were better. More people need to like this restaurant as it is a hidden gem.

Decent food, big portuins, but wouldn't call it Mexican food though...

Hi guys, this place isn't too bad, there must be something good, as it was busy when visiting, and my friend did all the ordering, I still do not know what the name of the dish that I had but I'll share a picture of it, but anyway, had the so-called Mexican samosas, nice and crunchy served with a medium sauce, the mains were a piece of chicken breast fried drowning in a gravy kinda sauce, the chicken was tender, not tried the rest of the menu, my dish was OK but not WOW or something entirely different.

Wow a very good Mexican, very reasonable prices and the portions were huge.. neither of us could finish it! Very tasty , lots of variations and customisation so you can have it how you like. Friendly staff and clean restaurant. The only gripe is there's no alcohol and it's a BYOB which we didn't know. Other than that it was really good.

I discovered Amigos about three years ago and have eaten there or taken food away on several occasions. I loved the food. After a break of about a year, I went in yesterday and was quite disappointed: the food is completely different from what I remember, unremarkable and very disappointing. I have had better taste and flavours in frozen meals from Farmfoods. Clearly, the kitchen staff (I wouldn't go as far as to call them chefs!) have changed but sadly, all good things about the food that I remember and felt attracted to, have gone too. I will not go there again.

Nacho order was just a collection of crumbs with a handful of intact nachos ontop to hide the mountain of crumbs. Mojito did not contain of alcohol which was misleading. I appreciate this is difficult to control but group of screaming girls behind kicking my chair as I was trying to eat made whole experience very unpleasant.

I visited this place with my family for a birthday meal on Saturday. No on-site parking so took us a while to find some parking in a side street. The restaurant looked busy but we had made a reservation online and were seated promptly once we gave our names. The starters were absolutely delicious, the potato gratin, loaded nachos and fries were just gorgeous!😍 the mains were okay but I definitely prefered the starters😍 desserts were nice too. Definitely worth a try this one guys👌🏻

Food was average. Cold drinks were room temperature. Service was very slow. There was only a couple of tables in this lunchtime and it took them 45 mins to do our order. Untrained serving staff. I won't be going back. Unfortunately, it's a very competitive market and there are others places with better quality food and service.

Mexican food with an Asian twist. Service was awful. Food took 90 mins to arrive! Adults could wait but three young children were left waiting.

Due to poor service, we couldn't enjoy the food and atmosphere. Sad.

Highly recommended. Visited Friday night myself husband and 3 teenage girls. My husband is coeliac and wanted corn tacos. Even though they were not on the menu the kitchen was happy to make it. The waitress was lovely and couldn’t do enough for us all. Food was fabulous, big portions and we will definitely return.

Absolutely the best Mexican I’ve eaten! The portions are great, the taste is amazing, even if you’re not in the area you need to make the trip here!! The service was outstanding 👌

Felt more like a curry house than a Mexican restaurant, no atmospher, Drinks took ages to come, didn't have a non halal option which was very disappointing. And the food was mediocre. Service was OK but very disorganised.

Ordered food from here for the first time tonight, we had beef tacos, a cheeseburger and some guacamole added and it was all really really good!

Outstanding food, service and prices we all ordered something different and were all equally impressed. Easily some of the best mexican food around. This will be our first choice for mexican food in future.

Food is good, bit expensive compared with similar food type

The best Enchiladas in Sheffield. The chicken pabolanos is worth trying too. Been coming here for years, you can bring your own bottle of wine for the table and the atmosphere is warming. Went again for a friend's 40th yesterday and the treatment was 5 star. I only wish they delivered to my home address

Ordered via Uber eats and the delivery was delayed considerably. Which is not necessarily the restaurants fault however after receiving my order I was very disappointed. I Ordered 2 chicken burritos which were described as: Burrito made with chicken,lettuce beans, rice, cheese, jalapeños, salsa and sour cream wrapped up in a flour tortilla. with broken corn chips But I received them without any lettuce, sour cream etc. it’s just rice and chicken and the cheese inside tastes off. I also ordered a dessert which was described as served with cream. Which was in-fact just a melted squirt of whipped cream. Incredibly poor quality, poorly packed with the chips ina greasy paper packet that had started to rip. It was a total waste of money and a waste of time for my lunch break.

Delicious Food. I absolutely love the quantity and quality of the good. Service is good. Atmosphere and the restaurant is bit untidy. Apart from that price wise, taste wise I absolutely have no complaints. Must visit to tickle your taste buds and enjoy the Mexican hotness 🔥

Came from London looking for a place to eat. Food was great but service was spectacular the young man was very nice and sweet.

Good food, price and service... Me and the Mrs got the chicken poblanos and chimichanga and both were very nice.

Had a meal here with my family recently, it must have been a couple years since my last visit. I'm pleased to say that the food and service were excellent. We had the beef chilli nachos as a sharing starter, followed by a shredded beef enchilada, grilled lamb chops, chicken burrito bowl and a chicken quesadilla. All the dishes were well made and served in a reasonable time scale by friendly staff. The premises are quite spacious and we managed to get a suitable table for 5 people which included 2 children. My only slight criticism would be the music being played was a little bit too loud, otherwise a nice experience.

***AVOID*** I ordered a delivery and the enchilada came on it's own! No nachos, no salad and no fries that I upgraded to, paying extra! The nachos had no cheese sauce on them! And only around 4 jalapenos!! Ruined the whole meal evening meal! Very disappointed and will never ever be ordering from here again. AVOID!!

6.5.23 collected COLD food and item missing (chocolate sauce for churros) and the rice wasn't as we ordered. Prices are going up but food standard going down, shame really 😑 as we've enjoyed food before but not today! Rating down to 1 star

Nice and welcoming, was quite busy when we arrived but managed to get a table within 10mins The place is nice and clean, unfortunately parking is an issue The food was ok but it would be better if they placed sauces and condiments on the table instead of asking the waiters for them

Good food, maybe better utensils

The only thing which is remotely Mexican about this restaurant is the display of sombreros on the walls. Really cold restaurant and we were shivering for the duration of the meal. Had to wait ages for the food to be served, which was luke-warm and not remotely Mexican tasting. The music had no links to any remotely Hispanic sounds. Not somewhere I would return.

It used to be OK here, but the food was disappointing. I had a quesedilla, which hardly had any filing. The place was cold. Wouldn't be in a hurry to go back.

Have been quite a bit to Amigos recently as it's been good for group outings. Excellent value for money, very tasty flavours and the staff are very helpful. Vegan menu and plenty of tap water brought in a jug which balances out as the food does have a proper kick with the spice.

Brilliant chicken poblano and also the beef version. The chicken wings were a but dry but still decent.

From sitting down it was 20 mins before anyone came over to take drinks/food order, a further 20 mins to get starter food, (which we had to ask how much longer) had to ask for drinks again as not come. Food came out but had to ask for cutlery, between starters and main was another 15 mins. Aside from our party of 8, there were only 2 tables of around 10 people in total, so not sure why there was such a delay. Decor cheap and outdated, all in all, I would go again for the food, I just hope this service was a one off, as I wouldn't come again if it wasn't. We also went mid week so not a busy day. Let's hope the management read this and address it soon. Ps. The waiter was was very polite, just didn't seem to know how to serve timely.

My family had a bad experience. On arrival, not welcomed and just pointed out towards the table in dry and frosty behavior. The food was nice apart from Deseret. When we inform the quality of dessert to the counter, the person (Lad) was not happy. Overall, the experience was quite bad.

Nice food and generous portion sizes. Whether you’re in the area for the football or just travelling into the city centre centre, if you’re looking for a decent Mexican meal then here is definitely the place to go!! Ps. Burrito is EXTREMELY filling!!!!

Staff is very rude. Been asked to move two times like I'm not eligible to dine in. Been asked to sit in take away bench even though I already said to dine in.

The waiter couldn't even adise on anything on the menu. There is no way this is a Mexican place the music was French and the meanu was more Spanish than Mexican. To top it off we waited 50 minutes for mains whilst the tables either side were served before us even though they arrived after us. My partner and I left without eating. What a disappointment and the staff are so uncooperative. Never would a recommend or go to this place again.

Unfortunately this place has gone downhill. The enchiladas are not as they used to be, there is less meat filling and the taste isn't the same as usual. Unsure if there's a change in management but it's a thumbs down for me..

I strongly suspect that the chefs would struggle to find Mexico on a map, never mind be able to recognise Mexican cuisine. Really, really disappointing. We has some standard easy dishes, and they were a mess. Processed, not fresh, largely tasteless, the only flavour was chilli powder. The service was very lacking and needed constant chasing, the decor is tired, half the toilets are out of commission and the heating is not up to the job. The whole place feels like it is on its last legs. It really is time it was closed.

The empanadas were nice, the veggie chimichanga very disappointing. The decor looked cheap and not well looked after, the floor was sticky. The staff were slow but the lady waitering was very lovely. The two stars are for her and the empanadas. If you're looking for good burritos, I'd recommend going to Street Food Chef instead (same price but much nicer).

The food was outstanding. The lamb empanadas were very tasty. We all had fajitas but different ones: Lamb , Prawn and vegetable/ mushroom. All were delicious with loads of filling ( lamb in particular ) Service was very friendly. We brought our own wine ( from the shop opposite ) and we’re provided with ice bucket etc Great value for money. We will be back soon.

Went last night. We hadn’t been for years. We will be back this time all the family. Food was excellent. Great for meat eaters and vegetarians.

I visited here with my 3 Daughters on a Saturday lunchtime after Googling Mexican Restaurants in Sheffield and Amigos had the most impressive Website and photos of the meals so this was an easy choice. We were most impressed, the cuisine is exceptional. It is very high quality and superbly presented and tasted amazing. We had the best cheesy Nachos we've ever come across, sprinkled with onions and coriander. Unbelievably tasty. The chilli con carne is excellent served with perfectly cooked rice and corn chips. The burrito dish was a very generous size as a regular and packed full. The dips were unique, 2 of which I've never come across. We also ordered separately extra jalapenos, a generous amount in a little tub. If you like Mexican food, it can't possibly get any better than Amigos!

Good food, a large selection and nice change from usual halal options. Booked for 11 of us and they accommodated and we weren't waiting too long for food.

Service too slow. Misguided when ordering food.

Great food. We had the garlic prawns and loaded nachos for starters. Main course was Chicken escalope wrap and cheese burger. Staff helped to choose the main Chicken escalope, which was exceptional.

Generous portions, well priced. I had the whole chicken, whilst it wasn’t a whole chicken as you’d get from Nando’s I still enjoyed it.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was tasty but nothing to write home about unlike the milkshake which tasted great!

I used to love the food at this restaurant and had been visiting for a number of years, it was fresh and packed with Mexican veg...but we went this weekend for the first time since covid and not sure what has happened to the cooking but it's definitely not Mexican (fusion cooking at best). My veg enchiladas contained frozen veg of carrots peas and green beans, mixed with a load of black bean (i would have expected peppers, red onions, cougette or mushroom). They used to provide dips of salsa and sour-cream to go with nachos but looks like this has stopped because we didn't get any. The quesadilla was greasy/buttery on the outside like it had been cooked like an Indian flat bread (paratha) and the filling was dry cubes of chicken. Understand the restaurant has the same owner as nearby Indian, and a quick glance into the kitchen looks like they may have bought some chefs from that cuisine into the kitchen. Sadly i don't think I will visit the restaurant again, unless they bring in a chef that understands 'Mexican' food.
