Amico Cafe Bolton in Bolton

Chilly inside and a long wait for a luke warm & not especially cheap breakfast. Saturday morning so maybe it was an off day.

Had breakfast the other day.food great.staff great.courtney is lovely.its a lovely little place definitely go again.

So glad I find this cafe in Bolton centre . This is the best cafe in the centre . Great food , nice staffs and service . The most important thing is … super dog friendly !!! This will add to our r breakfast or brunch choices !!!! Highly recommend this cafe !!!!!

Ordered Vegan All Day Breakfast and Regular Large Breakfast. Server seemed stressed out, young lady basically dropped the plates onto the table without asking who's food was whose. Vegan Breakfast didn't come with all stated ingredients, missing avocado, vg sausages and vg butter. Also pretty sure the tofu was cooked in butter. Okay with me but if it was an allergy I'd have been worried. Room was cold as had no heating on.

Food took close to 1 hour after ordering (5 people ordering normal english breakfast). Menu is expensive.. total was £90+ ... £4 for concentrate orange juice. Servers were only interested in taking tables money asap. Sausages were only just cooked, same with the black pudding. The coffee order was wrong and took 25minutes to bring the correct order back. It seemed to be a lovely little spot for breakfast, but eventually we couldn't wait to leave and left feeling very unsatisfied. I won't recommend.

I was shopping in Bolton and passed this place on the off chance and popped in for a breakfast. Firstly, the food wasn't great but the food is not really the issue here. The main issue was being made to feel like I was in the middle of some unhinged domestic argument. There was a woman, who i can only assume is the manager/owner, screaming at her staff in the kitchen. This screaming really put me off my visit, there was a terrible atmosphere and I was genuinely concerned about the situation and whichever poor staff member was getting screamed at. I've never encountered this in a place of business before and how anyone can justify speaking to their staff this way is beyond me. No one should be subjected to that kind of treatment. This is 21st century Britain. You can't treat people like that. Your staff are your life-blood, without happy staff your business productivity goes out the window. A positive culture, even in a small Cafe, is essential for success. After reading some reviews on here, it is clear I'm not the only person to have experienced this. It would seem there is an incredibly volatile and toxic culture in this Cafe and it seems to stem from an unhinged manager/owner who is rude not only to staff, but customers, too. Given the wait time for food, they're obviously short staffed and I can't say I'm surprised. Who would be willing to work under those conditions is questionable. Further to this, the reviews calling out this behaviour are replied by the business with attempts to discredit them. Well, I can assure you that I am not a former employee with a vendetta. This review is a genuine experience from a now "ex-customer". I genuinely hope the person who thinks it is acceptable to scream at their staff reads this and takes time to reflect on this feedback. It is not OK to do what you do. If you want to fail, carry on the path you are on. It will be a path you will walk alone. I wont be back and by the sound of it, neither will 99% of the staff after their first day.

The service was slow, Food was over an hour to arrive poached eggs were like bullets half the mushrooms were raw sausage wasn’t cooked properly will certainly avoid going there again ,, don’t know weather it was an off day but 2 lots other people were getting there food before us and they got served after us not a happy Chappy

Waited 50 mins for our food to arrive and when it did it was stone cold. Paid £13 for a breakfast and there were missing items. It was also classed as a kids portion. Staff dismissed it. The building is also freezing. All in all £70 odd wasted!

Very expensive came in last week the food was good but it cost me £16.00 for a full English breakfast and a coffee ☕️ can't afford to come again at these prices.

If you’re prepared to wait then you might like it here, but it’s a bit hit and miss. We chose to sit outside as the inside seating was full. I went in and informed a waitress we were there and ready to order. After saying she’d be right out it took her 15 minutes to appear to take our orders. While we were waiting for the food we noticed seating becoming available inside so we moved inside and I again informed the waitress of where we were. It took a further 45 minutes for our food to come. My son ordered a bagel with pastrami, gherkins and salad but no cheese. When it eventually arrived it only contained pastrami. We notified a member of staff who returned it with the salad but still no gherkins. Eventually we got what had been ordered. My friend ordered the breakfast which was mediocre for the price. My meal of jacket potato with garlic spinach and feta was tasty and value for money. Had we been informed there was to be a delay, which would have been a courtesy, we could have chosen if we wanted to wait that long. I had been here in the past for breakfast and had a long wait so it seems to be a problem!

Good cafe. Great selection of food at reasonable prices, and great, friendly service. Most important, dogs allowed!

I love this place it’s cozy , the food is absolutely amazing love their breakfast the customer service is good 👍 I went yesterday with friends I was served by a lady she was polite and very helpful I would defo recommend this place

I went with family for breakfast. After a few bites, I took a mouthful of side salad including what I had thought was a caper. I quickly realised that I had a small ball of mud in my mouth. We looked through my wife's side salad and found more small balls of mud. We complained. They apologised. My wife couldn't face ordering anything else. I was so hungry that I ate the egg with hollandaise component of the breakfast after the salad was removed. We had been made to pay in advance when we ordered. When we finished what we did eat of the breakfast no floor staff came to us. My wife called a waitress over and asked to have her breakfast refunded. Nothing was offered to me in way of goodwill after being served soil. The fact that the staff didn't proactively offer any kind of gesture is a disgrace.

Amico is the best place in Bolton, to enjoy a coffee or a brunch. It has a lovely atmosphere and lovely food as well.

This is a toxic workplace. The screaming and shouting from the kitchen is the owner (wife). The rude male serving (husband) they both (more so the chef women) bully young staff and their staff turnover is very high because of this. I’m not sure how this business is still running. It’s disgusting how they treat their staff (young school leavers) I have eaten here once and food/service average.

Shocking how the owner treats and speaks to staff. Young girls doing there best, yet they get yelled at in front of everybody in there and treated less that something she walked in. Avoid at all cost

Food was way below average with a lady bossing what can only be described as children working there. The lady seemed to be a bit of a bully and seemed very toxic from her.

Not great, not terrible. As much as flavour, the main thing I like is for my food to arrive hot and it was just warm. What was nice to see was an good variety of dishes to chose from!

What happened to this place? It used to be the most famous place to go for lunch,dinner, breakfast. The quality went down hill,eggs overdone and cold. My asperges were cold,my fruit juice Loco coco was so bitter I couldn't drink it 😫. My bagel was so tough I couldn't cut it with the bread knife. The avocado wasn't fresh.I have been coming hier for quite some time. But they are not going to see me again. The staff changed again, all young girls. Who have no idea what their doing. Chatting around while costumers are waiting to order, or dont even have the menu card yet 🙄.

The food is delicious and the portions are large. The coffee tastes OK but weak. There are seats on the upper floor of the cafe and the environment is comfortable.

Unfortunately, the cafe isn't as good as it used to be. I come here probably once a month and it's always been spot on. My last visit was disappointing. Food was cold and the poached eggs were hard. I didn't have time to ask for it to be re-done as I was on my work lunch break. The portion sizes have also dramatically reduced. Don't know if there's a new chef.....

A great place, we had a super breakfast, Turkish eggs, shakshuka & the smoothest of coffee. Fantastic staff, young, enthusiastic & engaging, they are an asset to this cafe.

Lovely friendly staff service is OK a bit slow but get there in the end need to put a bit more coffee beans into the drinks as not very tasty,food is a bit expensive for the quality but that's just my opinion

If I could leave zero stars I would this place is horrible and I'm sure I saw a mouse last time I was in there, not only that the woman who runs it who I suppose is the manager is awful and has a horrible attitude, the staff look like they would rather be in prison than work there I've never seen such a bunch of unhappy looking staff mambers please do your self a favour and avoid this place like the plague....

Lovely interactions with the staff on shift but it was disturbed by the nasty and despicable treatment towards staff by a verbally abusive manager, I refuse to ever put money in this business again. Consider yesterday my last time.

Apparently open until 5pm on Sunday but I placed an order on Deliveroo almost two hours ago and it turns out it’s closed.

Revisited Aug 24. The order for breakfast took 15 mins to arrive then given to the wrong table, it sat on another table for about 5 mins then was fetched to ours and it was cold. Asked for a fresh one to be cooked and 4 mins later was given another one and the waiter said it was fresh (it had been rewarmed but was just luke)

Loved in the past, today was poor, one of our party got their food 10 mins before we did and had finished, my son only got half his breakfast and the other half was brought out 10 mins later when his food was cold with no apologie, what he got was either cold or over cooked.

Amazing love the pancakes a little bit on the expensive side but then you get what you pay for

Went for breakfast today and we were totally disappointed. One person had a decent breakfast we had 2 orders of crumpets that are budget brand and we’re not even toasted then waited 5 mins for another breakfast which was egg on toast and totally forgot about a last egg on toast. They tried to serve us the wrong breakfast twice and not once was there an apology for the missed eggs on toast just it will be here in a few minutes by which time we had finished so we cancelled the order and had to buy a pasty from Carrs instead. Gone so down hill this place was charged best part of £50 and one person went hungry I can say without doubt we will NEVER be coming back for such disgusting service.

Only actually managed to dine here once which was lovely but tried to go back twice since and the attitude of the staff at the front door has been so dismissive and rude, completely put us off from trying again. Shame as was looking forward to trying the food here.

I had crumpets lovers which was ok no testing🤕 and I had Turkish poached egg with the yoghurt was so delicious. Their services were so bad, the coffee were one of them came worm where I asked extra hot also, the another one came after we finished 💔I’m not come to here any more😭🥺overall bad experience

I had the regular breakfast with tea, and it cost just under £13. For that price - and we're in Bolton, remember - I expected better: - eggs were not seasoned, and there was no black pepper on the table - beans were close to being cold - bacon and sausage were both very good - hash browns were limp and moist, likely to have just come out of a microwave - ketchup came in plastic sachets, which isn't what you expect when paying £10 for the food alone. Service was neither here nor there. Average, no problems. It seems like a nice place overall, but they could do with getting the details right. Improve the beans and hash browns and you'd have a good breakfast for fair value. Just not good enough, to be honest. It wasn't even busy when I visited.

Wow, what an experience… Not sure what’s worse in this cafe - cleanliness, staff’s attitude, waiting time, or luke-warm, bland food. Firstly, upon arrival, the menu looked promising, but the place looked grubby - there was a cigarette butt on the floor! The tables were left with all the dirty plates and cups for ages. Food took more than 45 minutes to arrive; we overheard other tables inquiring where their food was. Staff had an attitude, and the service was appalling. After scanning through some of the reviews, I can see that it’s a recurring problem. Why wouldn’t management do something about it? Perhaps invest in some customer service training or look for servers who actually care about their work? Just an idea. The food was not fresh, luke-warm, bland mess. The frozen chips were stone cold and extremely starchy, indicating that they’ve been resting in a freezer for quite some time. This cafe is an extremely disappointing waste of time. Avoid at all costs.

I visited this place with some friends today after a few months. The service is always great but unfortunately today the waiter was rude. There was four of us and we were seated upstairs and from the minute she seated us till we left she was rude and felt like she was in a mood! Terrible experience!!!

The French toast with caramelised banana is awesome

I called with my granddaughter for a special lunch together & it was very poor. I visited with my daughter, twice, a couple of years ago & it was really nice so I was expecting more of the same. We arrived at 1.15pm & were greeted by friendly waiter who showed us to a table that was obviously squeezed into a small space. I had to ask the people on the next table to move across so I could squeeze in, although they weren’t encroaching. We ordered at the counter & paid up front. I chose quiche Lorraine, which came with a side salad, & added a bowl of chips, in case it wasn’t enough. My granddaughter asked for Nutella & strawberry pancakes. Our drinks were a flat white coffee, for me, and apple juice, for her. The apple juice came within a couple of minutes & I expected my coffee to arrive soon after, but it didn’t. I could see the drinks preparer was quite busy so I thought it would be in a queue. After 20 minutes she had obviously caught up & out came her phone. I asked a waitress if my coffee would be coming with my meal & she said it must have got lost in their (computerised) system. As we had been waiting 20 minutes already, I thought that at least my drink would still be warm when my food arrived. The food took 50 minutes before we were served much to the amusement of the couple on the next table who couldn’t believe ours took longer than theirs. The quiche was fine, the side salad was just a plate of mostly salad leaves & the chips were oven chips & were soft & underdone. My granddaughters pancakes were from a packet & I had to cut them for her as they were so tough. The experience was such a disappointment.

I try to go regularly as the food choices are so varied and very interesting. Always good service and a nice atmosphere.

Visited Amico a few times but I'm not sure what's happened on our return visit last week there was different staff who gossiped loudly about other members of staff. We were Freezing as back door was open. Some Food on menu wasn't available so re ordered something else. Mac n cheese which wasn't mac it was penne and a out of jar tasting sauce. My son left most of it. My order wasn't correct either. For the money I expect more. The atmosphere wasn't good apart from one lad rhe staff looked like they couldn't be bothered. We won't return

Visited this café now for almost a year and I have to say it’s a really really good café. However a few occasions on a Sunday Has really let them down food weights are really long they also can’t give you a solid update on the food, The bacon was really overcooked And some of the staff members attitude is unacceptable, Not sure what’s happened to this team At one point, I really love going to this café. Overall I do believe it’s the kitchen that’s letting them down and food quality.

Our experience at Amico Cafe was utterly disappointing. Despite pre-booking a table for three, we were crammed onto a two-seater table with an awkward extra chair. When larger tables became available, the staff rudely refused our request to move, even though those tables remained empty throughout our meal. The staff's attitude was shockingly poor, and they even demanded payment upfront. To make matters worse, we endured excruciatingly long waiting times for our food, which was only average in quality. Overall, the combination of miserable service, cramped seating, and mediocre food ensures we will not be returning to Amico Cafe anytime soon.

Worst experience of breakfast. Packed in like sardines. 3 people expected to sit around a table that’s just about big enough for 2. Took ages for order to be taken then even longer for food to come out. Drinks were really weak and of poor quality. The mocha just tasted of milk with a sprinkle of chocolate powered! Breakfast was ok but daughter’s pancakes were cold and bananas were chewy! We were seated by a window and there was such a draft! Safe to say we will not be returning.

We had to find somewhere to have some breakfast on Saturday. This cafe is lovely, the food was good, the coffee was good and the service was quick and pleasant staff. One full English and one vegetarian breakfast and we were full and happy for the rest of the day.

Not sure if this place has changed hands, previously been nice but today was a very different experience. Cold food put on warm plates, I asked for a vegetarian ciabatta and queried whether the sausage was fake meat or made of vegetables because I prefer the fake meat type. The menu just says vegetarian sausage.The waitress told me it was fake meat. When it came it was a cold mush of some sort of potatoes and cheese ( presumably the sausage, this isn't a sausage) with a cold fried egg,cheese and avocado. I raised this with the girl who didn't seem interested, didn't offer to change it and walked off. We also had a large full English, Luke warm,undercooked sausages, white limp, undercooked hash browns, not really worthy of the 12.99. On the upside the coffee was nice. Don't think we will be eating there again

Lovely spot in the centre of Bolton , as soon as you step foot in there you feel cozy the decor is nice and the staff are everything you need . The portion sizes were great and food was full of flavour. Definitely worth stopping by .

First visit here and loved it. Was full constantly but that just shows how good it is. Reasonable prices, tasty food and great service. The cafe is small but cosy and well decorated. Very handy for the bus stop and for the shops. Would highly recommend.

Was sharing a a nice meal with my gorgeous wifey. However the use of foul language directed at the younger female staff members and the Uber driver, by the older male staff was unnecessary and made for an awkward atmosphere. If you don’t want to work on Boxing Day which the entire shop was safe he didn’t, then don’t work Boxing Day and certainly don’t take it out on staff. This was a shame as we usually have a very pleasant experience

I attended Amico today for some time to relax outside of the house. Waiting staff were very welcoming and accommodating and my food was lovely however my rating will not reflect this. The mood of my time here was interrupted by constant shouting from a lady in the kitchen - in which I assume was management. She was verbally abusive to her staff and could be heard throughout the entire establishment. Management need to learn that their employees are what keep their cafe open, if there was nobody to cook and serve the food, there would be no business to have!!!!!!!! I will be sure that none of my family or friends ever apply for a job here and you should too!!!!!

Nice little spot in Bolton to Bob in for lunch or simply a coffee ☕. Serves a wide verity of food an drinks. Loads of healthy options, too, choose from!! Rely not ya normal greasy spoon!! Rely recommend this place must visited easy 20 times this year for a coffee lr brunch.!! Make sure ya call early as it dose get rather busy!! Newest Updates too, Amico Cafè !! They now have a few new dishes on the menu and also have created more inside seating upstairs.!! First time using Amico via Deliveroo on takeaway!! After looking forward to their French toast I was very underwhelmed but the customer service was worse. I stood at the counter for quite some time before the server even acknowledged me and even then he was cursory rather than pleasant. Overpriced and very average.

Lovely location to have a lovely breakfast and also a lovely coffee. Very generous helpings including the drink. Very large inside with seating area upstairs and toilets downstairs. Size is very deceptive.

Wonderful experience here today... We went in with a pram and a baby and the staff could not have been more accommodating, making room for the pram and getting a high chair and a cushion and making sure we had enough room... The food was excellent and I had a vegan breakfast which was fabulous and felt so fresh with plenty of spinach and avocado (and they brought extra for the baby... Thank you) The coffee was gorgeous too. The assistant manager (I think he said he was) was one of the nicest waiting staff I've ever come across at a cafe/restaurant. Thanks for s lovely experience;)

Visited here for a late breakfast. We ordered the large full English and eggs Benedict. We waited 20 minutes for drinks to arrive, which is far too long. The food took around 35 minutes too. The cafe was fairly busy, but there was no apology for the delay which we thought amounted to poor service. The quality of the drinks when they eventually arrived were good. The food was reasonable, although some items on the breakfast were poorly cooked. The hash browns by way of example were soggy and tasted as though they had been either reheated in the microwave or cooked in oil not up to temperature. The beans were dry and the toast was disappointing. The quality of the bacon and sausages were good. Overall, the food was good, service and wait time poor with a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Passable food but let down massively by the poor service. Staff weren't friendly and in particular the manager on shift seemed rude and fed up. Waited nearly an hour for food, and then when asking where the food was, was met with grumpy responses from the staff and no apology whatsoever. Shame as the atmosphere is good but massively let down by the service today. Won't be going again.

Bustling busy place .. felt like I was in Italy

Visited today after going to see The knive Angel in Bolton . To be truthful we don’t visit Bolton a lot due to lack of choice . It was so lovely to find this cafe . Regular via delivery. Last 2 orders have been less than satisfactory. My usual order is Magnifico breakfast and Granola. However the previous order there was so little yoghurt I had to my own use milk. Leaving the granola very dry. My current order, Golden syrup completely missed out, again leaving dry pancakes. And the fruit was definitely not fresh. As far as service goes the phone never gets answered, Won’t be ordering again.

My food took an age to turn up, when it did so, it was lukewarm - no better. No one asked me if it was okay but I probably wouldn't have said anything as by that time I was starving. It tasted okay. I doubt that I would come here again.

Visited here a few times. One of the best coffee places in Bolton. Very friendly staff. Lovely and inviting, warm atmosphere inside. Nice outdoor seating also available with some of it undercover. Highly recommended 🌟

The bacon was more over cooked than I'd like and the French toast had gone slightly soggy with the strawberries I would have liked them on the side so the toast was crispy. That's just my preference though. Food was lovely and friendly staff. Great menu lots to choose from for any time off the day.
