Me and my partner regularly visit Amici on the weekends and it is our favourite cafe in Surrey. The coffee is great and we particularly enjoy grabbing a panini for lunch which is always delicious. Sanjay, the owner, is a lovely man and is so hospitable with all of his customers and makes the trip even more worthwhile - definitely recommend!

My wife and I stumbled across the Amici Cafe when in Leatherhead tending to some family business and looking for somewhere to eat. It is fair to say we struck gold. Firstly we were welcomed with a very friendly greeting and were made to feel at home. In addition the other diners also were friendly towards us. The service was prompt, just as friendly and the food was outstanding. It is a long time since I have had such a fluffy jacket potato and the filling of tuna mayonnaise was delicious. The pastry I had for dessert was also lovely and the lattes were perfection. I literally cannot fault this wonderful cafe. Even the toilets were spotless and if I was local to the area I would be skint due to spending my hard earned money here.

Amici owner Sanjay held a reception for me after the funeral of my mother . He created a wonderful and memorable expeirence for me , my family and friends to celebrate the passing of a great lady . Back in August 2021 Amici was the last place i took my mother for a cup of tea and tea-cake , From the next day until january 2022 she had many problems and her age [94] was against her . Nothing was to much trouble for Sanjay to hold this reception for me but really it is how he treats everybody every day whether it is just a cupof tea , a delicious cappucino or a tasty lunch so please call in and you will not be dissapointed .

Amici is in the Centre of Leatherhead, t’s the perfect place for a pause to enjoy a coffee or cappuccino (comes served with a Tuscan Cantuccio). I particularly like the possibility of sitting outside on the pedestrian High Street that makes the coffee time a little more special. Sanjay, the owner, is a friendly, attentive, and customer centred host. They also serve breakfast pastries and panini for lunch. The place is informal and affordable. It’s popular with a number of locals and Sunjay keeps a relaxed friendly atmosphere that is possibly the best feature of this excellent coffee stop in Leatherhead.

Having walked from Dorking to Leatherhead, we were very hungry and extremely lucky to catch Amici before it closed for the day. We all ordered paninis. I eat a plant-based diet so ordered the falafel panini without the yoghurt and mint dressing. I am used to eating very plain food when I am out, and will never make a fuss over what I consider my lifestyle choice rather than something a cafe or restaurant should have to accommodate. I was therefore surprised and touched when Amici's owner came over to ask what else he could add to the panini, as he was worried that the falafel would be dry without the dressing. He actually came back a second time to suggest additions to the sandwich. I ended up with a first-rate panini, so substantial that I had half of it wrapped up to take home for later. Recommended!

This is the place for serious coffee drinkers. The Double Espresso Sanjay makes is one of the best I have had outside of Italy. So a real treat for coffee drinkers. It comes with a cantucci on the side. If you prefer your coffee with milk the treat is not reduced. Just tell Sanjay what you want and he is happy to oblige. The artisan cakes from a well known local baker are far superior to the standard fare from the big chains. Leatherhead's best kept secret!

Staying in Leatherhead on business recently I visited Amici for breakfast. It was acceptable quality, but it turns out the receipt they gave me wasn't mine; was for the wrong day (in fact wrong year!) though for the right amount. How this works on their audit would be an interesting question, but it means I can't claim back the cost from my employer as would normally be the case. I visited Leatherhead with my wife, three year old daughter and 9 month old son. My wife spotted Amici as a potential lunch venue but this was initially vetoed by my three year old daughter, who had her eye on a pizza place further up the high street. However, as we were walking past, one of the waiters pitched the place to us and his mention of 'milkshake' caused a change of heart in my daughter and so we went in!The decor is a comfortable fusion of British modern coffee-shop / cafe and authentic Italian cafe (all of the staff were Italian), and we were shown to a family friendly table at the back of the cafe - service was prompt and friendly, with a high chair whisked to the table for our baby and our coffee, tap water and our food order delivered promptly. For a lunch time cafe menu, I thought the food was excellent - my daughter and I had spaghetti meatballs in a tomato sauce, which seemed to me to be home made with fresh herbs. The coffee was also very good - strong, smooth and served in attractively non-corporate cups.We also asked for a small empty plate so that we could share some of our meal with our 9 month old, I was touched by how the waiter conveyed this to his colleague in Italian - words to the effect of 'an extra plate please - it is for the baby so make sure it is spotlessly clean'.I have lived and worked in Italy and Spain, as well as visiting other Mediterranean countries, and what I miss about all of them is the positivity about food, family and children - Amici reminded me of that culture.

I make a point of stopping off at places where I have been previously and had a decent meal and as my son and I were following the Olympic cycling route through leafy Surrey we thought we'd take in Amici's again. I have followed the reviews of this friendly little family run cafe since I last penned a review and quite frankly find it hard to credit some of the more negative one's including one couple who seemed to feel the need to write his and her negative reviews for the same meal. I can only postulate that either the reviewers live in a parallel universe or the proprieters Wendy & Tony had been kidnapped and replaced by alien clones at the time of their visit!!!! Anyway of the lunch. Being a creature of habit I went for a hearty Lasagne with a fresh salad to replace some much needed energy after the mornings cycling exertions. The salad was crisp and fresh and although I'm no expert on Italian cuisine -just ask the wife- the Lasagne was hearty and obviously homemade. The Ragu was brimming with taste and flavour and the bechamel sauce worked perfectly -when I often find it smothers the dish. Where the Amici scored again was with my son. Little Lord Fauntlerory wanted a simple Ham and Cheese panini and a Babychino and although busy the staff indulged him and provided him with just as he had ordered and still had time to chat with him about his favourite cyclist and bike manufacturer. I like this place, the owners care what you think, they care about the atmosphere and they have produced a hearty VFM meal on each of my visits. I had a long chat with Wendy the co-owner (mainly because I didn't fancy cycling straight after a rather larger lunch than anticipated) and it struck me just how hard it is to make a small family business work with rising landlord rents, council taxes and competition from the cloned ranks of Nero's, Subway et al. These guys work hard and make places like Leatherhead a more pleasant, vibrant place to visit and socialise. So hats off to Amici I will cycle past again soon and look forward to my very own little lunch spot. I know my son is already badgering me to go back..............

I was resident in Leatherhead until 2012. I came back to see few friends and they took me here. We were very very disappointed. Firstly, it's expensive for what is on offer. All 5 meals were extremely poor quality and it was reheated with the microwave and previously was frozen. We all agreed we would never return. Also the coffee was water and I would expect something better from Italians. The food is lousy and it is very disappointing. I imagine Subway next door is offering much better food!

I've been to Amici a few times and it was never worth writing about, but the service today was pretty awful.I went with my wife to get a quick lunch and after being given the hard-sell on drinks, starters and sides we ordered two salads with a side of garlic bread. The garlic bread was 3 small slices, not great but not bad.I ordered the Caprese Salad: tomato and mozarella on a bed of rocket with a pesto dressing. What I got was 12 slices of tomato and mozarella with some pesto sauce. When I brought up the missing rocket the waiter examined the menu then took my plate away, returning 20 seconds later after adding a few leaves of rocket. My wife's salad, the pancetta and avocado, was actually very nice, but tiny. When asked how it was we responded that the portions were very small and that I was disappointed with the salad Caprese to which the waiter said that we should have got a pasta dish instead, then offered to sell us another salad. He even had the nerve to tell my wife that she was still hungry because she's 7 months pregnant. So there's a reason that Amici is the only café in Leatherhead that does not get busy at lunchtime. We won't be going back.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

This cafe is like going to an Italian cafe in Rome! That is, the prices are rather steep for the minuscule portions and the staff give you the 'hard sell' to buy more!We went in for lunch, deciding to give local business a go instead of the Subway next door. The banners and display boards made the prices seem comparative to Subway. We were kindly shown to a comfortable seat and asked what we would like to drink. I was very thirsty so asked for a tap water - "and what other drink will you have to go with your water?" was the reply, accompanied with a dirty look. We ordered salads and were pushed to have the garlic bread starter. There was also a hard sell on olives but by this point we had had enough of the hard sell and made it clear that we had finished ordering. The food came and we were so disappointed! My pancetta and avocado salad came with just a couple of extremely thinly sliced pieces of avocado, pancetta and some rocket with oil. It was a tiny portion. The garlic bread was 3 very, very thin slices, which at over £1 a slice was not what I was expecting!! Perhaps in a gourmet restaurant, but not in a cafe! My husband's dish was the worst. His salad was meant to come on a bed of rocket, as described in the menu. Instead, for £5 he got one sliced up tomato, one sliced mozzarella ball and a drizzle of pesto. When he pointed out the missing rocket they apologised and sprinkled on a couple of leaves on top! Certainly not a 'bed'!!We both had to go back to work, so there was no time to complain or change orders and we ate up. Our waiter asked us how it was and when I replied that honestly the portions were too small he said it was because I was pregnant!! I replied that no, the portions in every other place we have been to are larger. He replied that it was because we had ordered salads, and he had tried to recommend the lasagna. I stated that at £6 for a lasagna and £5 for a salad you would expect them to be a similar portion size or at least if the salad is not meant as a main meal then it should say so on the menu! He said we should order another meal or a dessert! Hahahaaaaa! His puppy dog expression and bull**** responses to our comments left a bad taste in our mouths. His attitude made what would have been a stupidly expensive lunch into a stupidly expensive lunch which left us very very angry. What a waste of £14 for what was meant to be a quick bite for lunch when we could have gone to any of the other numerous cafes in Leatherhead.Amici - there are a lot of places to eat in Leatherhead and you are going to have to work harder to get repeat business.

A leisurely Saturday family bike ride and a lunch stop in in suprisingly pretty Leatherhead brought me to this Family Run Italian Cafe - and what a delight it proved to be. Bright and breezy describes the decor and indeed the staff and service on a busy Saturday lunchtime. With my terrible pigeon Italian I believe "Amici" means Friend and 'Friendly' aptly describes the atmosphere. Plumped for the homemade Lasagne with Salad washed down with a Cappucino with the kids sampling the more prosaic delights of Cheese & Ham Paninis and wonderful Babycinno's (what a great idea). All reasonably priced and we weren't rushed-which was just as well as we rather decadently succumbed to the Italian pastries and cakes on offer as well....Have to say it was a much more sedate ride later in the afternoon thanks to our bulging waistlines. Suffice to say we will definately be back again next time we're biking through. This cafe really is a hidden delight.

Outstanding food and service, could not fault anything. The buffalo mozzarella starter was a delight and the Filetto Al Dolcelatte (medium rare) was RIDICULOUSLY good! Lovely mango sorbet to finish

Me and my friend came here for the first time last week and had the most AMAZING service/ food. The staff were so friendly and fast, they even gave us a glass of wine on the house after we’d finished
