Amei in West Dorset

Just awful. We picked up a take away at 7pm on our way home, drove 5 minutes and started to dish up. It was cold. We ordered kung Po king prawn, the batter was old and wet. The chilly deep fried beef was literally like card board, no flavor at all. The special fried rice had two prawns and a few peas and no flavor. The beef chow mein had five tiny slices of beef and no flavor. Every dish tasted the same, no differentiation between them, total waste of £42 as we had to chuck it into our food waste bin.

Horrified to have found a MAGGOT in the sweet and sour sauce tonight. Called to complain, not in the slightest bit interested! Tried to suggest I was lying about it!! Took ALL the food back, maggot included for a refund as the woman on the phone agreed, only to get there to be refused money back! Email sent to food standards agency.

I spent £98 here I can honestly say the biggest rip off ever.firstly the ribs were literally half full in the containers.Beef sambal what a joke stingy bits of beef with fried onions,the ribs barely any meat on them.What’s happened here used so good I drove from Bridport to come here never again.In future I will stick to k Yuen in the town center.Huge portions and really tasty. You need to sort it out.You used to be amazing.

Just been to the local Chinese. What a joke 😡 gave them £30 for my £24.60 and was told I only gave £25. I just got the cash back so I know what I gave them must be hard times but this place is a joke will not be going there again. Food was average so be cautious when giving them your hard earned money.

We had the family starter for two. The dipping sauce tasted like sickly sweet jam. The ribs were overcooked. We didn't like any of the other dishes we selected. King prawn sechuan, beef satay (didn't taste of satay at all), and beef with ginger and garlic. Flavour was very poor. The Singapore fried rice was way too salty. We went back to complain and ask for a partial refund but they said no. I do not recommend and I will never go back.

This was one of the worst meals I have ever had. It was cold, although we only picked it up from our rental 2 minutes away. It was undercooked, and full of non Asian items like carrots. It was disgusting. Avoid it like the plague. Look at my other reviews and you will see that I give credit where it is due. This was awful.

Although we live in Bridport we always go to Amei for out Chinese as it is the best Chinese in the area.

Great flavour, excellent price. Had the chicken pad thai and sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style. A little gem for sure. take out only. call in order recommended or drop in and arrange a pick up time.

We stayed at an Airbnb down the road and it was the best Chinese we've ever had - that's a bold statement, I know, but everything was delicious! My partner had the bbd ribs and said they were banging, and I particularly enjoyed the salt and pepper chicken and the chilli chips... But to be honest everything was great. Will definitely come again when back in the area!

I love this place, authentic and worth travelling the 15 minutes out of town for! Never had a bad meal and everything is always served hot, the young girl who often serves me is so polite and well mannered.

Live near and used this chinese for years.....it Is quick and up to par. Recommend duck pancakes as never been let down, share box is good, hosin is insane. Cant go wrong with the Chicken balls

We often have our weekend takeaway from here! We love the food and it’s always good portions and tasty. staff are friendly and a good choice

rice cold and blamed the weather so not happy bought spare ribs and rice rice cold when rice is cold bacteria grows

Food was ok... Nothing to shout about. Chicken balls were very small. Prawn crackers were very thin, chow mein was watery. Ok flavour but certainly not one of the best Chinese I've had.

Totally uneatable, curry sauce was sickly and sweet, order was wrong, beef curry was chewy and not sure it was beef, prawns were covered in shells, we would ot recommend anyone to go there, so disappointing, waste of money and time

The last time I went to Amei in 2016 wasn’t particularly great but as I heard of an owner change over I thought I’d give it another chance but god had I wish I didn’t. First things first, the sweet and sour sauce got cracked open first... visually disappointing, watery and tasteless. The special fried rice (my all time favourite dish) was also very watery and had extra chewy meat, a ton of cabbage and not very much rice at all. The prawn toast was actually okay.. surprisingly better than the rest. My friend had the special box which came with fillingless spring rolls (so just rolls), cold chicken balls, tasteless watery egg fried rice and the okay prawn toast. I am now sat on my sofa feeling sick with my half eaten plate of food which my dog is eyeing up but little does she know, would be the worst thing she’d ever eaten, baring in mind, I’ve seen her eat her own puppies dog sh*t. I 100% would not recommend this to my worst enemy, let alone a friend. Deuces x

after my best friends birthday i decided to treat her to a take away dinner at home from Amei, upon arival the place looked completely dismal. the menu was poorly designed but the good sounded tempting. i chose the special box, this included chicken balls, sesame "prawn" toast, egg barely fried rice and spring rolls that i can only describe as deep fried pillow cases. there was infact nothing special about this box at all, i wouldnt even let hitler purchase this. my friend ordered house special fried rice (her favourite) which contained a singular prawn, what looked like chicken and 3 slabs of chewy peef(not sure if it was pork or beef) which now remains inconveniently wedged inbetween my teeth to go with this she ordered a pot of sweet and sour water which is still sat half empty on the counter top looking sorry for itself. the only thing from this meal that was actually bearable to eat was the prawn toast, even though i nearly lost teeth in the chewing process... i cant believe how low the level of food is from this place, would not return even if you payed me10/10 would NOT recomend

We were staying locally but this was a 15 minute drive away. The food was delicious, not huge portions but what we did have was fresh, well cooked and very tastyUnfortunately when we got back and unpacked we realized one dish was missing - not worth going back for as it was half an hour round trip. Good food none the less and I’d recommend

amazing this place NOT !! s**t tiny portions for money . noodle poop . rib wack .. shreded chill beef well worth throwing back up . chow main is awful , duck was edable . 1ton was nasty .. now from london i see 100s of chinese takeways n this is far worst of them ..

Craving a decent Chinese take away meal, i drove 16miles round trip on the strength of the positive reviews here, not disappointed.The food is cooked in a kitchen that you can see, the ingredients were fresh (from what I could see) and everything looked clean. The dishes I ordered were present and correctly portioned and cooked right in front of my very eyes (sorry for staring mr chef).You seem to have a great team. Best of luck to you, shall visit again.

My wife and I stayed in a village close by and this was the closest takeaway. We were hopeful but we were really disappointed. The quality for us just wasnt there. we had setmeal B and that had crispy spring rolls. When we bit into them they tasted of an undercooked steak and kidney pie. We're easy going but the food wasnt finished and we felt quite let down. Perhaps we're not used to the style but never again, sorry.

We decided to try here after a full day out exploring the Jurassic coast....really decent food and very quickly made...also not too expensive...not bad at all.

Phoned and ordered food this evening, after I got it home to my two hungry children I realised that one thing was missing from my order. I phoned them up and told them about the missing item, spoke to the main chef who insisted that she defiantly put them in the bag and asked me to check my car incase they had fallen out.I checked and no sign, so phoned back and told them that I would be down to collect them. The lady then started yo argue with me, telling me that she knows who I am and that I am always causing her trouble. I have never had a problem with our orders before and can honestly say that I will never return there after the worst customer service I have ever experienced.Rude staff, poor attitude and barely edible food.

Decent Chinese.. some dishes can be a little greasy but others a great.. this used to be a bad Chinese but since the owners changed a couple of years ago it has changed into a nice place

A great little takeaway in Beaminster, with a great selection of oriental dishes and very generous portions.

We have had this take away every time we have stayed near Bridport. It is delicious, yummy food, thoroughly enjoyed by all members of the family. Our particular favorites are sweet and sour chicken and prawns in yellow bean sauce with cashews. Will be ordering in again next time we are in Bridport.

Chinese take away was in total confusion and chaotic due to lack of staff and experience. We accepted this, since they were doing the best they could.However the food was bland and tastless, the lemon sauce for the chicken was very watery and lacking flavour.Would not use this place again - even if starving!

Very good food with great quick service, in and out within 10 minutes and could see everything being cooked. Recommend the spicy ribs.

A treat from my daughter was the only reason I didn't take the food back.The chips had clearly been reheated (rock hard ) and luke warm.The rest of the meal wasn't hot and was greasy .I've never had chicken balls in batter like cake mix either.Would not waste money here again.

Never had a bad meal here. Good service and good food. Rather extensive menu could use a change maybe but what they do they do very well

Came down to visit from Essex and we decided to eat here. Eaten at this restaurant before and the takeaway food has always been very very good fresh tasty and wholesome. Well done all.

The food this time was certainly a lot worse than what I've had previous times.I had special chow mein and mushroom fried rice plus sweet and sour Chicken balls. The chow mein and rice tasted like the kind of bland dry rubbish I'd expect from a trainee chef on his first day at catering school. The chicken balls didn't taste fresh; they tasted like they'd been sitting around for a few days too many.If you want rubbish food, get a ready meal from the supermarket. If you want a decent chinese, go somewhere else.

Let's start with the front door- annoying and sticky, the fact that the chef stands outside smoking?also offputting. The little TV from 1980s blaring from behind the counter? A bit weird. But the food is pretty good. I often order the Malaysian or Singapore chow mein, always fills me up.

picked up a selection of food for four people, no one thought much of the food. chicken satay was dry and without sauce,even the boiled rice felt old and stuck together in glutinous balls, nothing good to say about it.

Small portions, , disappointing, had better Chinese takeaways, unfriendly staff, quite expensive, would. Not be going again

Good food and service.Having spent the day down at West Bay day, 4 o'clock shop closing was forgotten about!After we put the children down, there where 5 very hungry adults still to feed. The fish and chip shop was closed so we opted for Anei, after hearing mixed reviews we where very happy with what followed.Friendly service from the young man at the counter, who was more then helpful with our order.(allergies and recommendations)Told us it would be 10 min, so we popped for a quick pint and it was ready for us on time.Got the food home and found 6 very tasty dishes all of a good size. So 5 hungry people are now very fully, more then satisfied with the food. And the 3am Peaty snack was sorted.

We have had many takeaway's from Anei's and enjoyed every one. Polite staff, quick service when we have phoned and pre-ordered. Good choice, convenient parking.

Says Malaysian but is really just a Chinese take away. Food was OK, but the portion sizes to big Waiting to collect is really cold, so dit away from the door.

...... having visited the beautiful village of Beaminster we were very happy to find a chinese / malayan takeaway just a stones throw away and had also received good word of mouth reviews.unfortunately my order was taken wrong, person at front desk extremely unhelpful / disinterested in putting right their wrong and to top off an above average costing takeaway, the food was dry and had as much flavour as cardboard.avoid if you can and visit Bombay Spice up the road instead as you won't be disappointed there.
