I have just had a phone call from my elderly parents & they have asked me to write a review on their behalf. They visited yesterday, Saturday 13th November ‘21 for a light lunch at midday. They both asked for a bowl of soup & whilst the soup was tasty they were both absolutely aghast when the bill arrived. £18.00 for 2 bowls of soup. Yes, you read that correctly, £9.00 for a small bowl. When they asked the waiter why it was so expensive the reply was “It is homemade” Of course it’s homemade, it’s a restaurant. I have been in the restaurant business many years & unless you are ordering soup in a Michelin Star restaurant the price charged at this establishment is shocking. I am not in the habit of writing bad reviews but my parents feel so aggrieved by this that they have asked me to post this for them.

We visited this really water mill structured historical setting when all customers get a rare look and experience of the old Grain threshing Water Mill, that is still maintained, albeit not used for a century but is preserved, behing a glass font, as a notable local remnant of one of 3 water mills still extant in Amersham ,and this one turns its wheel behind the constant maze of resturanters. `Ambers of Amersham' is well worth a special visit for all discerning travellers to the Medieval Amersham and disports a well priced new baby arriving boutque, beauty salon and a messenine set of spacious rooms for ladies' clothing and artefacts all seeking new owners. The hospitable greetings from the staff is a rare feast for all at Amebers of Amersham for all occasions including weddings and special events. There are distinguished layers of photographs from the world of charitable giving and fund raising, from the artiste generations of the `Order of Water Rats' from the show business days of yore. There is a signed photo and letter of gratitude from the esteemed late Diana Princess of Wales dated in 1993 thanking Ambers singularly, for its charitable work over decades.

My Mum and I visited the restaurant for Afternoon Tea today, and I must say it was the worst we've ever had. The tiniest sandwiches ever, and bread was very dry and the filling barely there. The little tarts were horrible and pastry was hard. The scones were just about the best thing about it. How they can justify the £24 each I don't know. We came out feeling like we had been robbed. It was supposed to be a treat for my 40th birthday and I was so disappointed and angry at how they had the cheek to charge that much. We have previously been for Afternoon Tea in a hotel up the road, which was £15 each and very nice and fresh, and great value for money, this tasted like it had been prepared the day before. We will not be returning and would not recommend this place to anybody. I will say though the staff were very nice and friendly, and felt I couldn't say anything at the time as I didn't want them to feel bad, as it's not their fault.

Beautiful tea with a very attentive and friendly welcome. Cosy and welcoming. Cakes and sanders lovely but the scones stole the show, we will recommend and return. Thank you.

Whether you are searching for a special outfit or wish to indulge in a sumptuous lunch or afternoon tea, Ambers is the ultimate destination. I am a regular customer and was frankly appalled to read some of the recent reviews that suggest the atmosphere at Ambers is unwelcoming. Such comments, in my opinion, do Ambers a great disservice. The customer service at Ambers is unrivalled and every shopping experience is incredibly personal as the lovely staff guide you to find that perfect look. They even offer an alteration and fitting service, going above and beyond to make sure you feel your very best in your outfit. They organise wonderful fashion shows in aid of a range of charities and arrange days to showcase specific collections. To dispel the idea given in an earlier review that staff are apparently judgmental regarding what customers are wearing, in my experience this certainly has not been the case. The restaurant is the ideal place to eat and drink after your shopping though many people enjoy coming to the restaurant without intending to shop, simply to dine in the unique surroundings. For friendly service, an excellent range of fashion collections and a quintessentially British restaurant, Ambers is the place to go.

The women working in Ambers are hysterically snooty. Why? The people of Amersham are generally extremely wealthy. If I walk in dressed in less than my Sunday best, please don't judge the depth of my wallet. It is deep. To quote Julia Roberts - "big mistake, huge". Popped to Selfridges the next day and spent 2 grand on a Thierry Mugler suit. Take that Ambers.

Very professional staff who know their stock well. Perfect place to shop for Mother of the Bride or Ascot. Staff helpful, allowing time and space to try several coordinating outfits whilst serving refreshments to our ever patient husbands. Manager particularly good. No parking problems always space outside. Highly recommended.

I admit the venue is a trifle odd - an old fashioned tea shop set inside a clothing store for mature ladies in a very old building. However the staff were lovely & it is a standard of service of a bygone era - it reminded me of when I used to go to London department store restaurants as a child in the 70's with my mother - great memories. The food offerings are traditional - sandwich, soup, salads, jacket potatoes, tea cakes, scones & afternoon cream teas. The service was prompt & the food made to order & fresh. We also had a glass of wine with dinner so there must be a licence to sell alcohol to accompany meals. Also a nice filter coffee with cream - lovely a real indulgence. A nostalgic experience it's a shame maybe the restaurant wasn't more separate from the clothing shop & as in two parts it did seem a bit strange. Any visiting tourist looking for the traditional Britain would love this place. Also nice for a mums & daughters lunch as a lovely shop joined on selling beautiful baby & infant clothes. It was a little quiet for my husband (and I think the ladies clothing shop made him feel a bit like he was invading the ladies space while they were looking at clothing). But for reasonably priced, simple food with good, polite service it was great. It would be a lovely place for afternoon tea & for a change a place where mature ladies feel very welcome & catered for instead of being stuck in a corner & forgotten about as many places seem to do these days.

Absolutely loved this little gem set in a historic mill stream in old Amersham. Afternoon tea with home made scones and cakes plus little sandwiches. Then I popped upstairs and could not resist a new pair of shoes - and a potential new hat for Ascot. Don't miss this stop where the staff are exceptional for a bit of fashion food and glamour.

What a brilliant experience! We were fortunate to receive a tour of the location and the entire place is fascinating! The history is amazing with the river that runs through it (documented in the Doomesday Book), the scones are homemade in the kitchen onsite, and the staff are the friendliest and most talented I experienced while in England! I highly recommend!

A very old fashioned tea shop/ restaurant inside a high class ladies fashion shop. They do pleasant light lunches and afternoon teas, and occasional special event lunches. The food is old fashioned but pleasantly served (in the middle of the shop), and nice teas, reasonable coffee, less good wine. A throwback, but pleasant

So often driven past that it was a pleasant surprise to go in for lunch in this ancient water mill, now clothes shop. The tables had embroidered cloths with matching napkins, and fresh roses. I had a delightful cheese and mushroom omelet while my wife had fish with chips and salad. She shared the chips with me. The apple and blackberry crumble with ice cream was a dream. Hot cuppachinos completed our meal and we will certainly suggest a visit to our friends.

First Impressions, I was informed online that The Crown was open this morning, I visited to get a coffee and to have a look at how the alleged 3 Million had been spent, had to use the side door marked for ‘partners’, whatever that means? Was told that the pub was closed for another 30 minutes, so I had a quick look around . First impressions saddened me greatly, this is a lesson on how to ruin a country pub. What do I mean? The design theme is exactly what you would expect from a city centre refurbished hotel lobby, in my brief review there is of course no connection to the pubs history. This includes the fact that the new staff had no idea that I had been a customer of this pub for 37 years (a local) because the new management remove all bar one of the original greatly valued staff, well done. The only reason there is any sign of the character of the previous pub, is because it is a listed building. This refurb is pretentious and out of place, but will be great for group selfies. Boo hoo,, another great pub bites the dust.

Enjoyed our food (we got a lot of it). Very grateful for the vegetarian options (mock duck and mock pork- very rare to find these options in Buckinghamshire!). Long delivery time (1h+) but we were told this when we called, so they set our expectation perfectly & we chose to go ahead. Was worth the wait.

Three elderly gents arrived on Saturday at 1:40pm looking for a pint and a meal during the lunch break at a cricket match at Amersham CC. Only after ordering our drinks were we informed by the barman that food could not be served as they stopped serving at 2:00pm. Despite the pub being virtually empty, apparently food orders would take about an hour so he was not going to take any new orders despite the fact that technically they were still serving for another 20 minutes. We were very disappointed but we sat in an empty bar to drink our now irrelevant pints. I took a seat that gave me a view through the bar to where I could hear washing up being done in the kitchen at the rear. During the 15 minutes that we wasted in this pub, I am fairly sure that no food emerged from the kitchen for anyone in the garden at the rear. Just as we were about to leave, a gent (presumably a local) ordered a pint and one other drink together with a food order. Do not waste your time with a pub that simply can't be bothered to serve its customers. Judging by the recent comments on here about the poor quality food and its inflated prices, our party didn't miss anything by instead buying prepacked sandwiches from the local Tesco instead! A pub that can't be bothered to serve its guests is not fit for purpose. Now I understand why the bar was empty. AVOID
