An amazing place to get a Chinese meal from. The staff are wonderful and the food is delicious and quick to collect. They've now become our new go-to Chinese takeaway! Thank you and see you all soon.

I have been a customer of this Chinese takeaway, for a number of years. The food is always delicious, and the portion sizes are generous. The staff are friendly, and accommodating. The restaurant is clean. I have visited many Chinese takeaway’s, both locally, and further afield. None of them are as good as Amber!! I would highly recommend this place!!

Always good, delicious, fairly priced food. They get busy but its worth waiting for food from here.

Excellent take away food was outstanding unbelievable chicken satay smoked chicken just delicious we’ll be back.

Absolutely lovely sit down meal. All hot and freshly prepared with lots of flavour! Very enjoyable and not at all rushed, good time between servings.

Order food at 5pm for 7pm collection. Hard dry chips, greasy chow mien no meat on ribs Kung po Chicken rock hard Totally disappointed never again

Normally good and quick. However 40 mins after time told to collect, still not ready...money back and macdonalds...its now nearly 8pm and we're hungry

we have used this restaurant for 8 years but yesterday ordered £42 of food, 3 chicken balls with curry sauce (only 1 arrived} egg fried rice, was hard and no egg, not the nice fluffy rice it used to be, singapore rice had no colour or taste. 2 bags of chips (these were dreadful so much salt you couldnt eat them and hard like they had been pre cooked and reheated. i telephoned to complain they said sorry and offered free meal next time but we wont be going back as have noticed this year 2021 really lost value, price hikes, and food not nice now, i questioned if they had a new chef and was told they didnt know as for the two missing currys we was told we could go back and collect but as we are 12 miles away we did not do this and the rest of the meal would have been cold, a big dissapointment and we wont be going back, time for us to try another chinese.

My parents live nearby and we have used the takeaway quite a few times now. I was initially non-plussed about it but the last two times (most recently this weekend) the quality of the food has been very good. Noodles and rice both very tasty. For mains we had a mix of chicken, prawn and beef dishes. All very good. The only slight criticism is that they were not quite as spicy as I'd have liked Still gets a thumbs up though

Have used this takeaway many times, and food & service has been good. When very busy, an extended wait may be encountered. However, it appears recently that alongside the annual price increase, container sizes have decreased. Having to question if the Amber now offers value for money. Perhaps it's time to find another takeaway.

Ive been here quite a lot over the years and never really had any issues until this past weekend. Ordered over the phone, was told to collect in 20 mins, went to collect at 20 mins and it wasnt ready, it actually took them another 35 minutes to give me my order, after others had been served after me, so in total i waited nearly an hour. Then the following day when i woke up i discovered i was covered in red itchy blotches, after spending most of the day eliminating what id done and eaten the prior day it was likely to be the food id got from Amber as this was the only food id eaten out of my usual routine. I contacted them to ask what ingredients had been used in my order and i was told they couldn't give me that information. Sadly i wont be eating from here again as ive never had a reaction to any food before now.

I have not used Amber before but after reading the reviews on here I thought I would give it a go. I was very impressed. The counter staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The cooking time was quicker than expected. But the quality of the food speaks for itself. All I can say is superb. I will be definitely be using the amber again.

They takeaway do not do delivery or card payments but that was not an issue. They delivered high quality food very quickly and at a reasonable price. We will be returning.

The rice was lovely as was the sweet and sour Hong Kong style King Prawn. The Egg Foo Jong was Also enjoyable.

Yeah ordered beef with vegetables and sweet n sour chicken balls lots of chicken balls but lack of beef with vegetables for price should be more in my opinion, but lovely cooked food and hot ....

We have used Amber for many years, always excellent.the best in the area. Has it changed ownership, our last but one meal was very mediocre, We had another one last night and frankly it ended up in the loo, Tasteless, soggy and very disappointing.

Absolutely disgusting service, we were told our food would be ready in 30 mins and it took them an hour. We were not even offered a sincere apology, I would not recommend this place to even my worst enemy

Local takeaway. Ordered at 05-15, told collection would be ready at 6-40. Shrimp fried rice was full of shrimps. Sweet & sour chicken was plentiful, but sauce quite bland. Chows chow mein was good. Unfortunately mini spring rolls were no better than a supermarket own brand. Food not ready until 6-55, after arrival for collection. No delivery service available. This establishment could do better.

Nice take away and food is good. Quite an extensive menu. I would not hesitate to recommend to my friends.

Popped in on the off chance on the way home... Only wanted a prawn chow mein.. one other person in there.. had to wait 25 mins (God knows why it took so long).. chow mein didn't taste of anything.. very bland and flavourless.. last time for me.

Excellent take away 10mins from my home, excellent food quick service, they do not deliver but order over the phone before hand and always ready when you arrive, excellent

Just bought a take away from here A1 for 2 cantonese chicken was dry, pork balls not cooked still batter inside and meat you can not eat as not cooked,rice very dry, Beef bamboo shoots and mushrooms completely dry, spring rolls full of oil bit into it and squirted every where and it’s cash only so you can’t even stop the payment sorry but it was sh_t definitely will not be going back

Good food at a reasonable price We always get a real mixture of dishes for a large family meal!! Every dish is the top and with fast and friendly service. Will keep going back when we visit.

This is our local Chinese. Never had a bad experience. Everything always cooked to perfection. Cannot recommend this place enough. Brilliant.

Solo me dan mi chino de aquí ahora, he probado otros y son de ninguna manera tan buenos como este. He estado viniendo aquí durante más de 20 y no creo que he tenido una mala comida. El personal es siempre muy acogedor y sonrientes y el jefe siempre hace un esfuerzo para decir alto y gracias. Siempre dan a mi hijo una pop lolly y ha hecho desde que tenía 3 años de edad, está ahora casi 9. . . . . Sí, supongo que es un poco molesto que no entregar y solo aceptan efectivo y no pago con tarjeta pero hacer que el sacrificio como la comida lo compensa. Es mejor teléfono su pedido a través de primera ya que llenar. Parece ser todo el mundo es encontrar cómo este lugar es excelente. . Probar si no lo has hecho ya.

This is by far the best Chinese around here. Always willing to adapt the meals to your preference, me and my partner like lots of chilli so always get them to add extra. 🌶😀

Porciones de buen tamaño, sabroso, tuberías calientes y hará cualquier cosa en el menú si lo pides. Utilice siempre este chino porque la comida es estupenda y el personal y los propietarios son maravillosos. No sólo para llevar un restaurante.

often get a few things here. best chips for example in Clacton. worth a visit if passing by and a little famish. prices are same as other places but food and service is above standard.

I've been to Amber Chinese many times before and enjoy the food but on this visit it was a let down, wrong food given we ate it cause we were hungry. Food tasted a bit off. Sadly after many years I don't think I'll be using Amber again

I have been using Amber for many years and unfortunately I will not be using them again, very poor quality meat, pork balls so tuff and chewy, beef slimey, rice over cooked,nothing nice about the meal at all a real disappointment. £30 for a meal we put in the bin. Kept the pork and returned them to show how bad they were, but just said "they did realise the meat was no so good from suppliers" So I suggested they didn't sell it then. No hint of money being returned as a gesture of goodwill, or discount on next meal even, not that I will be returning there ever again.No cards taken and no till receipt given, hmm I wonder why?

What's going on? We've been using this place for years and it's always been outstanding. (See my previous review). unfortunately the last few meals have been poor. Anything in batter was greasy and overcooked. The chicken chow mein was also greasy and the chicken was the pre cooked stuff which meant it was dry and tasteless. The noodles themselves were soggy. Sorry Amber, but we'll have to look elsewhere.

Have used this takeaway for more than 20 years, lovely service and food is great, i'm always disappointed if i have to order elsewhere with friends. Always fresh and tasty.

Recommended by friends, lovely meal, good sauces, good dishes. We would use it more often only they don't deliver.

I will start by saying that I work in the village but live in Colchester, so have only used Amber once before as it's a 20+ minute drive home and I was worried about the food going cold.The last (first) time we used it we were eating with friends locally, and were very impressed by the quality of the food. No watery pumped up chicken !This time, after having had several mediocre to awful Chinese take aways in Colchester, we decided, with the aid of an insulated bag, to try Amber again. So pleased we did. Food was superb and prices are no more than anywhere else we've tried.Will definitely be making this our regular.Whilst I agree that the waiting area was a little chilly, the wait was only 10 minutes and there is now some nice wooden furniture.I could live with that.One reviewer mentioned lack of parking.There is plenty outside the Post Office/Shop, or Galloway Drive, both of which are a whole 20 yards away !

Like many Chinese take always this one only accepts cash (I wonder why?) It is in a totally unsuitable position on the edge of a village green in a converted residential property with no suitable parking facilities meaning you have to irritate the locals by blocking the access road to get to it. The food is very hit and miss and sometimes it's good but often too greasy and in my opinion they could do with some heating in the customer waiting area as its cold with plastic garden chairs to sit on. The kitchen is on view and purpose built. I suspect much of its business is from outside the village it's situated in and probably serves the London overspill from Clacton more than it does the locals. All in all it serves a purpose but I wouldn't go out of my way to get a meal from here.

Utterly great food at great prices cannot beat it. Got such a choice of selection your be spolit for choice

Moved here over a year ago and tried this takeaway,over £40 for family, food was horrible special fried rice brown and inedible ,egg fried rice had no egg in hardly , ended up taking it back.Yesterday thought we would try again, worst thing we could have done.Chicken curry had no proper chicken in it just some sort of spongy material, chow mein was horrible ,overcooked smelt and tasted like dirty oil.Special fried rice was again brown and inedible.Pancake rolls were very plain but at least had real chicken and pork in them.Will definetely not be going here again ,will travel into clacton much better one there .

we have had our Chinese from here since we moved to the area three years ago. I wish we had been in here before we moved and would recommend to everyone that it is worth travelling a bit for the food. Always hot, tasty and good value for money. Very friendly staff too.They don't deliver and you sometimes have to wait but this just proves how popular they are and I would rather wait for food to be cooked fresh.

We've used Amber several times in the last few years and the food has always been of consistently high quality, the only negative is that they don't deliver however the drive there is well worth it

Best chinese takeaway ever, short drive away from Weeley bridge caravan park. Open at 5.00 pm except Tuesdays when they are closed.

Been going to this Chinese for over 20 years. I have never had a bad meal. All the staff are very friendly. Sometimes you have to wait a little while for your meal but it is worth the wait.

Last time I used this Chinese food was cold rice was hard chicken balls greasey and to top it off I found a long hair in my food ( container) such a shame used to be ok

The food is very tasty, but all the meat is battered and fried, I like some of my dishes to not to be battered, its hit and miss whether you can find one!

Although this Chinese is a little way from me it is worth the drive as the food is top class, I would recommend the food here to any one

Family decided to have a Take Away on Christmas Eve. Telephoned an order at 7pm. Was told it would be an hour instead of usual 20 mins. This was just about OK. Arrived 8pm was immediately asked for payment expecting my food. I then stood in a dingy take away for 50 minutes waiting while it seemed friends of staff were being served first. Girl behind counter was surly and seemed more interested in chatting to her mates, no apology. Finally sat down to meal at 9pm. Baked Hong Kong chicken looked and tasted like cat food in batter in sweet sauce, was inedible. Never going there again.

A Good quality food for you, value for money too. But no delivery to you, you must collect. Too busy cooking for you.

Had beef curry and boiled rice, portion size of rice was the smallest I've ever had and the curry had no taste whatsoever and hardly any sauce!Very disappointed.

mber chinese is the best chinese take-away that I've had for a long time.I had chicken balls and they were big chunks of meat and the batter was not too greasy. The portions were very generous and not too expensive. A great meal.

everybody loves chinese food, this is the reason i popped in here whilst passing through to get some food. I totally couldn't belive how amazing it was, i live aproximatly 50miles away but have since considered the drive back just to experiance this amazing experiance. Best food EVER
