Bit quiet but it was a Monday night

Haven't been there for a while but last time I did for a takeaway it was OK,eating in the restaurant, again Haven't for a while keep hearing about new management but don't know how long since, new ownership,??!!,went again last Friday evening around 10pm,tbh the prices are ridiculous compared to other local Chinese restaurants, had 3 dishes and cist me £26.90,just tap water 💦 to drink so no alcohol involved,

First time eating at this restaurant. We were a group of nine people. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Nothing was too much trouble. Good food expertly served. Our two waitresses were top class. Well cooked tasty food all served up on time and at reasonable prices, would recommend and definitely be returning.

Went there last night with 13 friends the food was absolutely lovely the staff was very friendly would always go back there again .

Everything about our meal was superb and our waitress was just brilliant. Loved it.

Had a meal this evening 15/5/24. Ordered from the set menu, 3 courses. The food was piping hot each course prepared when we were ready each course was beautiful. Our waitress had great knowledge of the menu and was a credit to the restaurant. We ordered for 2 people and shared for the 3 of us as advised which was plentiful with enough to take home another meal. A complete dining pleasure thank you the Buckleys

Went here for my step daughters 16th birthday, firstly you don't get many sit- in Chineses so to have this on our doorstep is great. The food was cooked to perfection and very nice and hot, table service was good and atmosphere also not too bad with music playing in background. As there was 5 of us we had a table with a spinning centre piece, this help if you have lots of different dishes and wanted to share them then you can spin it around to choose another dish. Very happy and will be back again

Couldn't fault the food. However, the drinks are extortionate, and the service was ok. Lots of young waiting staff, who clearly haven't been trained.

My experience at this restaurant on Wednesday 31st Jan 2024 night was traumatising. I went to get hot drink ☕️ tea as I had no gas or electricity supplying to my property and feeling very cold. Ias I arrived there the receptionist a lady asked what I wanted and I said hot drink please. She asked the incharge person who looked at me and said No no no, I was surprised and said please is there any reason, he was very furious and made a call to someone else spoken Chinese language with loudly. I was very scared but I just wanted why is that behaviour towards me, the receptionist was confused and said she doesn't know why he's acting that strangely. After all this drama the receptionist said he said I have to order food with the tea, Oh no problem I said, I was gutted not just for me but also for the receptionist for what she was put through, she showed very concern about my experience and kept apologising. I had the tea sitting there but the atmosphere was very traumatised, Ididn't finish the tea,and took the food out even though I meant to eat in. Behold I couldn't finish eating the food ordered due to my experience either but the next day all my mouth was sore and felt very unwell. Very horrible personI met there, I'm not sure If he is the owner or certainly a relative of the owner, why did he had to call someone else and what was said, I don't know. What could this be I will not know and can someone explain it to me.!

This is just a very good local Chinese restaurant it isn’t extravagant but you will have good food consistently when you visit staff are always very good

First time here. Originally booked for 7pm but called and they let us eat at 5pm instead. Very friendly and helpful, food was amazing would highly recommend. Even offered us a doggy bag as we didn't eat everything. Massive portions and good value for money. Wouldn't hesitate to return when we come back to clacton

I went here for the first time today with my family. It was a nice stress free outing with good food, good service and a great atmosphere. It's all very clean and the staff were polite and attentive. The food was the delicious, and drinks weren't too expensive. (+ they had food warmers on the table and they gave us hot towels after our meal! and there's a spinny table!) loved it!

We ordered our usual takeaway this evening and the roast pork chow mein was absolutely dreadful! When I called to complain I was told they couldn't do anything about it if I'd eaten any of it. How I'm was meant to know it was not good without trying it, I have no idea! We will not be going back as giving good customer service is clearly not important to them. Neither is regular custom apparently. Poor show!!!

I've changed to this Chinese after the one I was using went down hill, great food, and portions are bigger than my previous Chinese. You Can pay over the phone and get it delivered. I've not eaten inside the restaurant so can't comment on that.

Good choice of food. Well cooked. They can accommodate my husband's need for gf well. Friendly and attentive, a bit slow at times. And often have to ask for the fortune cookies at the end. But overall a good experience.

It was a good Chinese restaurant, the portions of rice were considerably big, the waiters were competent and listened to my family’s quite picky orders. the food carried the experience and we loved everything ( specifically the chicken and cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce ). it was hard to park outside but for the food we would walk miles.

I have had a delicious meal before in this restaurant, which has made up for the old tired decor, but tonight's meal was below standard, over salted and dry. The toilets were dirty and the flush was broken, no hand soap. Service from the waiting staff was very good.

Sun tong came to the rescue when we got let down by a catering company. Food for 60 people within two hours and food was superb.many thanks for such fabulous service.

Went here for the first time, although we live locally, as previous reviews have seemed to improve. The young blonde waitress was very welcoming and attentive. The quality and quantity of the dishes we ordered was very good, so much so we had quite a bit left. The waitress asked us if we would like to take it home, and arranged for the appropriate packaging. Her service was excellent, even though there were several other tables to serve. On the negative side, the menu does not reflect one posted online for 2023, with items deleted and prices increased. We had a bottle of wine which was decent quality, and price comparable to other restaurants. Would we go again?? Probably for a special occasion only, as restaurant prices were double a very good takeaway.

It was the most nasty food I ever taste food was not cook tight spring roll was sort not chrisp it made us sick we still got lot left I would never get here again staff was rude the rude told me I could have something off food next tom but don't you get it was nasty made us sick not even offered us money back not happy

Lovely welcome restaurant . Both members of staff who served us were very efficient and friendly . Restaurant decor and feel was great . Really good menu . Lots of choice and we had a warming plate in the table throughout the meal . We chose a starter platter and it was delicious . Main courses great too. Would definitely recommend and will return .

Takeaway, live in Clacton. Quick delivery, excellent size portions, absolutely delicious. A little more expensive than others locally, but 💯 highly recommend. Worth the extra cost for fabulous food. Thank you so much

2nd time we have had a delivery from Sun Tong must say the food was excellent nice and hot very tasty not greasy. We have lived here a couple of years had a few takeaways which I must say were awful so ended up in the bin .so Sun Tong was recommended thought we would have one last try so glad we did . From the phone call to order to the food delivery was excellent. Thank you Sun Tong .

Great Chinese, fresh hot tasty food, highly recommend. I haven’t been here in years and fancied a Chinese restaurant rather than a take away. My partner and I decided to have a set meal for £23 each. We got a soup each, seaweed and vegetable spring rolls as a starter and then 3 mains and a large special rice. None of the food was greasy. It was all cooked to perfection and had great taste. Will definitely visit again and recommend to my friends and work colleagues.

Booked a table on new year's eve was rather busy but service was quick and food was delicious.

Normally order from bamboo Garden and never had an issue but it was closed so we tried sun tong food was spot on quick service couldn't fault it .......our only problem is we now have 2 favourite Chinese

Me & my partner were staying in st osyths for a few days & come across this chinese. We go up west in London we'll anywhere in London & love tasting new foods,trying new restaurants & this one is by far up with our top 3 chineses. Service was very polite, lovely size restuarant,food was fresh no grease would recommend muscles in black bean sauce for starter.duck was delish spot on!! Would definitely be visiting again & will pass on good reviews to family & friends.

Ontop of that you have to pay for the bag it arrives in now that's not right at all that's ment to be part of the takeaway, I've never know this?..

Did not have to wait long for meal, which was really hot and still hot when home and was really delicious will be back there soon.

Our go to Chinese never had a bad meal here, would advise going for collection instead of delivery if you can as it tastes even better.

Was nice to see a steady flow of people into the restaurant on a Wednesday evening. All food was delicious and staff courteous. The decor had not seemed to have changed since I last visited about 20 years ago, but was well maintained. Would come again.

TAKE NOTICE ! Any reviews here that predate covid should be disregarded and heres why.. The menu and most of the reviews are way out of date. This place has had new owners for a few years now. They no longer do any type of Buffet and the menu google has a photo of here was uploaded by someone a few years before Covid (to help give you a timeframe) On our visit (march 2022) the food was just ok, quite heavy on the cornstarch but tasty. The portion size is very small and Very Expensive, (perhaps its cheaper for takeaway) But ive not seen prices like this since china town london. I wont go again, but not because of the food, Its just to dam expensive, add £4 to the price you are thinking of for each dish and you'd be close.

been here many times with a big party of 10 to just two in a couple great tasty food dont rush you very good atmosphere

always used this for food delivery, usually very good, but last time used the chips were cold, special chow min tasted stale, as though it had been heated up from earlier, so this is one i willnot be using again.

MOTHERS DAY. Very disappointed loyal customers. My family order from sun tong regularly. Mother’s Day we all came together and got £200 worth of Chinese. We waited 2 hours for our food which considering the amount we ordered was expected however when we received our order the one vegetarian dish we asked for was not there. Customer service was disgusting and left us very disappointed and upset. The lady on the phone said she could only apologise but we didn’t request it (despite double checking the order) and if we want it will have to order, pay and wait for it to arrive. The lady was not sincere and couldn’t of cared less. For the sake of £4.50 I would of paid. The point was what happens to the customer is always right. I said we are regular customers and if that’s the attitude you have with your loyal customers will go else where in which she replied saying ok that’s fine. 😡

Use this place all the time. Best Chinese in Clacton and tonight from the start of the phone call to being at my door was 18 minutes. Amazing.

Have used Sun Tong for a long time without any issues, however my wife suffers with a major reaction to MSG and I always request no MSG and they have done as requested, but tonight I ordered as always on a Friday and the order arrived within 15min, unfortunately within 5min of my wife eating she suffered a major reaction such a shame as now I will no longer be able to trust them, and will no longer be able to order from them.

Best sit in Chinese restaurant in Clacton.

I ordered a take away ,on the Thursday evening ,before Christmas eve ,so that I would be granteed a Meal,for Christmas eve. But unfortunately for me on the prearranged time I arrived to collect the Takeaway, I had to wait a further 30 minutes, in a waiting area with 9 other people, Only 2 other people apart from myself where Wearing masks ,even though there is a sign on the entrance door. After collection of my £40.00 Takeaway, I returned Home, some 7 miles away. My wife and I unloaded our Takeaway, only to find that our order wasn't complete, missing a portion of egg freid rice , tried phoning the Restaurant, constantly engaged, So we proceeded the EAT the meal ,unfortunately the first coasre Sun tong Hot plater ,the satay chicken, was like leather, Not edible, Next so called Lemon Chicken, the same, should be called Leather chicken, another dish chucked in the bin. I tried phoning the Restaurant at least 10 times I gave up in the end . Has a couple we had eaten in the Restaurant at least 10 times in 2 years,no rule problems in the past apart from the service being slow . Originally we did have a table booked for Christmas eve, but due to Covid, we cancelled, but because we are a genuine couple, we didn't want the Sun tong to loose our Customer. What big mistake. This is the last time we will visit the Sun Tong .

The food, as usual, was really good (although one of the chicken dishes was rather dry). The issue i had was the wait. I know ordering a Chinese on Christmas eve will require some waiting. Called at 18.30 and was told at least a 2 hour wait (probably longer) for delivery, but if I was ok to collect it will be an hour and a half. So, chose to collect. Arrived at 20.00. Finally got my order at 21.00! Every time I asked how much longer, I was told "I don't know". This, frankly, was unacceptable.

NEVER EVER GO HERE ! WE CAME HERE 200 MILES ON HOLIDAY AND MY 80 YEAR OLD MOTHER. THIS LEAD TO A MASSIVE ARGUEMENT AND HE REALLY UPSET MY LITTLE GIRL AND MY MOTHER. HIS ATTITUDE STINKS ...NEVER USE THIS DRAB LITTLE PLACE!!!!

I wanted to take my 80 year old parents out for something to eat on the last day of their holiday. Mum really wanted crispy shredded beef, one of her favourites. There is a tiny bit of parking at the front. Mum came in the only transport they had which was a little camper. They had sat down and the man owner shouted move that too big!! He was very rude. I tried to be civil but he was aggressive and nasty. I said OK we will go. He said yes go. We ended up having a blazing row. Even his wife told him to shut up. If it had gotten worse the police would have come I'm sure. It ruined my mothers last night and he upset my 8 year old daughter and wife. Never have I been spoken to as a customer on this way.. that's why I then got angry myself. This guys poor wife. The big delivery guy was polite and brilliant and the owners wife. I Hope his business fails

Restaurant is tidy and clean. Staff are friendly and the different meal ordered were well prepared. Only downfall was the Noodles were not left at there original length but were cut to smaller length, apart from that would recommend the place for their delicious meals.

Not a good reception, lack of atmosphere, waitress to young didn't even know what she was doing, sorry but I do enjoy dining out and expect better service, had to walk out! Half a star for being open.

Me, hubby and 5 children found this little gem whilst on holiday. What can I say, absolutely amazing food and the taste of each dish was out of this world. It is by far the best Chinese food we have ever had and we are proper foodies. We ordered a lot of different things and all but 1 dish was cleared (the 1 we didn’t was taken away). The waitress was so lovely too, extremely polite and very helpful. If you like Chinese you have to try it. A***** all the way
