Lovely food as always 😋 very helpful lady on the till who saved my life as I fancied a crispy spring roll but due to allegies I didnt realise it had an allergen in it and had to be made to order. Thankyou all!

Been using this Chineseresaurant for years now but last week I had the worst Chinese takeaway that I have ever had the misfortune to eat, quite literally it was disgusting. Sorry to say that I won't be going back again and it will be quite a while before I will eat Chinese food again as the thought of it makes me feel sick. The food was just a gelatinous grey pile of tasteless nastiness. Wtf happened?

The food was awful. Have Chinese most weekends but thought we would this one a try. Absolutely disgusting….. never done a bad review before. So disappointed… the meat was so tough, hardly any flavour. Pancake roll was thick. Soggy and not much filling. Never had an experience like this. Sadly we won’t be recommending to family and will not be ordering again

Was away on holiday for the weekend. Took a shot in the dark at this Chinese and all I can say was it was a good choice. Great portions, lovely food. Not to salty. Quick service. Would definitely reccomend this Chinese and if I'm ever back this way will be having it again.

Shocking service. Just rang to place an order and have now been refused to be served. Reason being... on Fathers Day, we ordered and did not have correct order delivered. Obviously rang to advise them of this and to see about getting it delivered out. Rude young girl always answers with just a “Hello” - so not even sure if you’ve rung the Chinese. If you are wanting a nice meal that all turns up and a professional service, then would recommend you going elsewhere. Joke of a company.

Really enjoyed the food, everything was piping hot, however was disappointed to only receive 5 mini spring rolls free after placing a £60 order,surely the top offer should automatically be applied

Really good. Everything we ordered was top quality - duck, noodles, sweet n sour chicken. Wish we lived local and weren’t just visiting. Amazing. Thank you for making our holiday that much better.

Staying at Valley Farm Holiday Park. Happily delivered to the main car park and we collected from there. Had a set meal. We asked to change one of the meals and this wasn’t a problem. Food arrived quickly. Was lovely and hot and the portions were generous. Tasted lovely. Highly recommended!

Found this little gem whilst on holiday and it's amazing. If I could give it a 6 I would. Fantastic tasting food and a meal for 6 ready in only ten minutes.

My parents recently moved into the area and we tried this place just because it was close by, but were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. Portion sizes were good and it all seemed very fresh and not overly greasy, like some takeaways are. The pancake rolls were the nicest I've EVER had. We really enjoyed our meal and will use them in future. Money well spent. :)

Wow, the best Chinese takeaway I have ever had, the crispy lamb was amazing! Ordering via he restaurants own app was quick and easy and delivery was on time by a very friendly delivery driver, would highly recommend this restaurant, Thankyou very much!

Portions are very generous, we ordered more than we could eat by accident! For the price this was a nice surprise. They threw in some free spring rolls which were also a nice surprise. Delivery was extremely quick compared to what I'm used to (20 - 25 minutes in my case), the food was piping hot, and the meats involved were very tasty and tender. Our one complaint was that the curry sauce was very, very salty but as we've never eaten from here before, and comparing to the quality of the rest of the food, I would feel safe putting this down to a rare error.

Ordered again and once again an excellent service from the order over the phone to a very prompt delivery . The quality was excellent as always . The salt and pepper prawns are particularly delicious. Good value too with large portions too . Highly recommend as also deliver on a Monday

Ordered a takeaway from here. First time as just moved in to area. Was not disappointed . Food was piping hot delicous and very good portion size. No problem with ordering or delivery. Came within 30 mins. Delivery guy very polite and friendly.

We ordered home delivery.The food arrived on time and really hot.we chose the large spring rolls which were delicious.Along with special fried rice,chow meins,mixed veg and salt and pepper prawns and Kung po prawns .As we had ordered over £40 we were invited to choose an extra dish ! All food was absolutely delicious and we would highly recommend and will certainly order again .

Food, service and delivery is always good. I have been eating and ordering from them for years now and have never had a problem. I can certainly recommend their chicken chow menu and friend rice as well as pork and chicken balls... actually I’ve never had a bad meal from them.

Very happy with the consistency of the meals..

I have ordered from this restaurant for a few years now and never had a problem. We always tell them that I have serious allergy to shellfish, but last night 24/09/2020 I ordered chicken balls like always and they sent prawn balls . After eating half of one I felt quite ill realised what was wrong and ended up in hospital for the night. When my daughter called them they weren’t at all bothered. Terrible customer service, will never have anything from here again.

I now only use this Chinese take away as it’s the best in Clacton, I’ve tried most of the others and always end up going back. The flavours of the food and delivery times are excellent the only issue is because it is so good it gets very busy

Have recently started using this eatery after a bad experience at another chinese take away. The service is very good, food is always hot, delivery quick and very pleasant staff involved. Have tried a few dishes and so far none has disappointed, good value and plenty to eat.

Ordered vegetable Singapore vermicelli 170v and it come with chicken in phoned up and got told I must have ordered the wrong dish ( more than my life’s worth to order my wife meat). Will NEVER use again..

HKC is my go to for Chinese takeaway. I thought I’d be hard pressed to find any on the par with London when I moved to Clacton 6 months ago but these guy’s fit the bill wonderfully. Food is tasty and the delivery service is quick. I’ve already become a regular as they can’t be beat ! A+

Very disappointed this evening. Always lovely food from here but tonight the smoked shredded chicken was dripping in fat, the batter/coating is like mush! We were given a lame excuse and then told to eat our meal (which is now cold) and wait for them to deliver another shredded chicken dish which we should eat on its own.. the person dealing with our complaint actually found it funny that we’d be eating a starter after our now cold main meal. Very poor and disappointing.

Just ordered a meal and when we got home the smoked shredded chicken was dripping in fat and the batter was mushy. My partner called to explain the issue and they would only replace the one dish so we had to eat the rest first or reheat the remaining food and the man on the phone thought that was funny that we were going to have to eat the starter last. Normally a nice meal here but all beware if there is an issue, the customer service is dreadful.

Monday night and last minute decision to have a Chinese.usual takeaway closed as was several others.we called the Hong Kong chef.friendly staff on the phone.also said they delivered.food arrived in 20 minutes.delicious prawn crackers.the prawn toasts were beautifully cooked and had plenty of prawns and not too deep fried like some.the portions in the boxes were generous.there was plenty of beef in the chowmein.the prawn dish was delicious too with plenty of sauce.the ribs were meaty.the vegetables were crunchy .the seaweed was great but for our taste a bit too much sugar on top.we can sort that next time as we will definitely return .good value too.

I always order from here and after ordering from other takeaways in the area this is by far the best in Clacton, often busy and takes a while if delivery is required but well worth the wait.

DO NOT USE!!!!Worst Chinese takeaway my family has ever had. bland, greasy and even burnt food!Seriously absolutely disgusting. Ruind a big family meal and the atmosphere of the evening after spending £75 of our hard earned cash. Please take this advice and save your money...... DO NOT USE!

To save everyone there hard earned cash ... DON’T GO THERE . Food is left IN GREASE for 9 and a half hours and the chicken is like eating SCHOOL RUBBERS !!!!

Todo estaba muy sabroso, bien preparado y muy caliente. Aparecimos y recoge nuestra comida en nuestro camino a casa, el servicio fue rápido y el personal era muy agradable. Decided to give them another 'go' after being disappointed with our previous take away.

We have always had a lovely takeaways here. Would recommend anytime! You may have to wait a while but it's really worth the wait.

We have been regulars here for years. Good tasty Chinese. Service is always good and delivery is about 30 minutes. Definitely recommend.

Our meal was delivered 10 minutes later than requested with no apology. The food on this occasion had to be warmed up in a microwave. The meals were okay but not as good as on a previous occasion.

We have used Hong Kong chef for a couple of years now and all ways found them to be good but recently they have been very poor with the food tonight we ordered quarter duck ,chicken curry ,chicken balls the duck was horrible dark and greasy with a big bone left at the bottom of the tub the chicken balls were a nasty brown colour and near on dripping in fat and the rice was not very nice at all the dog had a better dinner than us they used to be great there I really don't know what has happend but this is not the first time it's been deliverd to us like this I feel like I have completely wasted my money and will now be looking for some where else from now on

Got a aromatic duck and they forgot the pancakes but they 4 got them so my duck was cold when I got the pancakes..... they were warm but my partner had eaten here's by then.

We have ordered from here on several occasions and had their free home delivery service.On this occasion our delivery arrived 10 minutes earlier than they had suggested. We ordered two meals, Chicken in Satay Spicy Peanut Sauce and a Crispy Shredded Chilli Beef. Both were very enjoyable, but I have to say that the Crispy Chilli Beef was one of of the best I have had. Never yet had a poor meal from them, so will continue to order from them when staying local.

Worst Chinese takeaway I recall having in living memory Bland, tasteless, and look like it has been cooked by an an amateur chef Spring rolls, chewyChow mean , not properly fried more like steamed Ingredients like meat etc spirit to have been tossed in last minute My tummy don't feel well today either

Vegetable spring rolls were soggy. Had a mushroom chow mein with a total of 1.5 mushrooms and a pile of tasteless noodles. Portion size was big, but very dissapointed.

We moved near this take away and were getting fed up with our usual chinese changing chefs. We won't use a different chinese anymore. Sweet smoked chicken is to die for and the chicken balls are the best.Fantastic.

We used to use a different restaurant nearly every week for 15 yrs but that went slowly downhill ............came across Hong Kong Chef by accident when a neighbour used them i went out to see if it was my delivery and the driver gave me a menu ....................well how lucky as I am totally addicted to their peanut satay dishes a lovely thick peanutty sauce that comes with most meats or prawn ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,The king prawn in ginger and spring onion looks and tastes lovely and fresh with contrasting colours ,,,,,,,,,,,,,the sweet and sour chicken balls are lovely c long chunks of chicken with a nice crisp batter no stodge here !!!! and the sauce is a natural colour not bright orange ! well we are hooked so we hopefully will be having our takeaways from here now

As my title suggests, some days the takeaways are excellent, other days not so good. As previous reviewer says "have had a lot worse", but, have also had a lot better! Can not fault the delivery time.....if only I could rely on the food ordered being of top quality.
