Last visited during the month of Ramadan. The carrot cake like desert was my favourite eaten with green tea after Iftar. The coconut flavour a second. I brought vegetable Samosas but they were 80% potato and not very nice to eat.

Ordered online Nice change but a bit too sweet, some things I liked other things not so much. Sugar overload. I liked the variety as it allows you to choose what you like but there are some that could do with refining

Always visit when in London as they do the best sweets and savouries. Not cheap but very tasty. Samosas are devine and freshly made so perfect as a snack on the way home on the train.

I bought Rasmalai as a gift and for my wife and i. I refrigerated it within one hour of purchase. I gave the gift the following day. My wife and I ate ours 2 days later. It was vile as though in some weird gelatine. Is that even Halal? I wrote to Ambala and have not had a response despite weeks passing. Don't buy from them.

Poor service. I have probably attempted to call the direct store around 20 times in the past week and they’ve answered just once. I needed to place a large order for work, they told me to come in to store to pay a deposit and wouldn’t let me pay by card. They then told me I could order on the day via Deliveroo. I’ve tried to order this morning before the event and they aren’t open!! So poor service wise and they won’t answer the phone. I’ve called their national number and the staff clearly don’t work directly for ambala as they can’t even help with what ambala foods they have available etc. so frustrating.

I hope I will never have to write a review so low again. I take no pleasure in denigrating a hardworking business, but Ambala (specifically the online ordering unit) demonstrates, at best, gross incompetence and, at worst, outright fraud. I ordered mithai on the online ordering system 2 days before leaving the country (the website says to order the day before for next day delivery, giving my hotel address as the delivery for the courier. I even paid extra for the pre-noon delivery. I received an email saying my package had been delayed with a courier name and phone number. Noon on the planned delivery date came and went without a delivery to the hotel. Here's where the series of Ambala incompetence/fraud actions started: 1. I called the delivery (aka courier) service on the phone number listed on the email I received. The courier responded and asked for a consignment number (I had only been given a tracking number). They checked and said they didn't have that. When they asked me who the company was, the courier service said: "Ohhhh, Ambala! We haven't delivered for them IN A YEAR AND A HALF! They keep listing our phone number for some reason." 18 months have passed and Ambala still has the wrong courier number. 2. I called the Ambala online store based on my order email. Wrong number. 3. I called the Ambala store. I was told by a rude man that he couldn't help me that I needed to call the Ambala online store. Gave me another phone number. Another wrong number ("this number is not in service"). 4. Finally I found the correct number from the website (different from the numbers I'd received in the order confirmation emails). Called and the lady (polite, I must say) said she didn't know what happened to the package, she didn't know why it wasn't delivered, apologized, and said her manager would return and he would give me a call shortly. I indicated I was leaving town the next day and I needed the package to be delivered that day (the day I had ordered and paid extra for it to be delivered before noon). 5. One hour passed with no call. I called again. This time I got a brusque man who told me that the day wasn't over yet and I could still get my package in the afternoon. I told him I had specifically selected before noon delivery. He acknowledged that and said the manager would call me. I asked him when, as it had already been one hour. He said he couldn't say. 6. Two more hours pass with no call. I called again. Another lady who proceeded to tell me that we needed to wait for the manager. At this point, I realized I was being passed around with no one trying to actually solve my problem. I asked her to help me--just create another order and send it to me now (like a good, reliable business should: acknowledge the mistake and just fix it). She said she couldn't do that and was trying to hang up. I then stopped her and asked her to please help fix the situation. I was in mid-sentence when she put me on hold. At that point, the manager got on the phone (to-the-point but polite gentleman) and he told me the order had been mistakenly delivered to CARDIFF WALES (yes, a different country 150 miles away). He apologized and said I would be refunded. I asked him to just create a new order and deliver it right now ("No, we can't do that.") I asked him to deliver it tomorrow morning by 9am ("No, we can't do that."). Absolutely no effort to meet the needs of the customer. 6. Here's the worst (and fraudulent) part: I haven't received a refund notification (even a pending one) on my credit card statement! It's been three days already. I normally do read a few reviews about businesses before engaging them, but my family has been getting Ambala mithai for decades so I was confident that it would be fine. On reading the other reviews, I realize they have not advanced in modern, honest business practices. They just have some great recipes for mithai. The pre-internet business practices are simply not good enough. I'd suggest you stay far away from the online store. I would have suggested that you go into the store instead, but based on the other reviews, I wouldn't do that either...

Visited Ambala Sweet shop in Ilford, London. They had Rasagulas both big and mini on display - the mini-rasagulas had a few coloured ones in between (we didn’t pay much attention to enquire about the coloured ones - our fault). Went home with 250 gms of mini-rasagulas and realised we had been conned. They had mixed Gulab-Jamuns along with the rasagulas. Gulab-Jamuns can in no way be categorised as rasagulas. Anyway, the mini-rasagulas tasted like chalk powder and in fact the Gulab Jamuns were better tasting !! There are better ways of making money than conning customers !! If anyone is looking for good rasagulas, there is Tesco few shops after Ambala wherein you get good rasagulas !!

Unprofessional customer service agents, very rude on customers. I went to Hounslow store, served by Tariq, he insisted me to order before making my mind despite store was not busy. I enquired about a particular sweet (name not displayed) and asked the name of it and the response of this very rude salesperson was “ don’t you know what you want”. I was shocked with his response. How ever I politely try to tell him that name of the sweet is not displayed and he least bothered about it. When asked why is he rude, he justified his acts and said he is not rude and that’s his normal behaviour. No smile, No please, no apologies In the whole conversation. How ever he thanked me while I am walking away with out buying anything, because he was least concerned about business and my feelings I phoned head office and spoke to customer service team 2 days later. Took my full details and was told someone would call back. No one gave me a ring. I contacted again few days after this and was told some one would call me. No call again. I called again and same answer. I am still waiting for the call. I preferred to given zero stars, but it's not possible. Shame on you Ambala, stop humiliating the customers. If you can’t provide a basic customer service. Please stop serving.

Nunca he comida cocinada tailandesa antes y me enteré mucho.
