Amalfi Bistro in Chelmsford

Another brilliant meal. Fantastic cooking by Andrea. Best Italian cooking this side of the Alps. And his team were absolutely wonderful.l

Make no mistake, the pasta and quality of the food is some of the best in Chelmsford and we had a fantastic meal. One niggle, is that the prices are ex-VAT, with a small note at the bottom of the menu telling diners this. This makes a £14.99 meal around £18 and is a little deceiving, as you don't want to be doing the maths when going out for a meal ~ just be upfront about your prices, as the food is worth it.

Wow! 🤩 Chelmsford has a huge win with Amalfi Bistro! The wonderful Andreas has created an amazing place to eat. I really don’t want to tell you, I’d rather keep this a secret all to myself! lol. 😂 Seriously, if you want a little piece of Italy all to yourselves for a beautiful evening, this is the Restaurant for you. Visited with 3 discerning friends tonight and we had the most delicious food with amazing service from our beautiful little ladies and a great ambiance, where we were able to talk all of our ladies gossip, eat till our hearts content and have a lovely Prosecco too! No photos as too busy enjoying my evening! Cannot wait to return. Dont miss the fabulous Cannoli, but…. Sssh! Don’t tell anyone else! lol. 😂

Fabulous food- had an amazing prawn risotto which was delicious. Lots of prawns and the rice was perfectly cooked. Service was impeccable. The decor and ambiance of this restaurant was delightful- loved the music! Highly recommend this restaurant and hope to come again soon

We really enjoyed our meal at Amalfi Bistro. Cosy dining environment, good wine and delicious food. It is on the expensive side, however the food was worth it. All cooked in an open kitchen and the waitress was really friendly. Would recommend.

This is a hidden gem. Amongst all the chain restaurants locally I went with the wife for her birthday and this place blew us away. The staff are polite, friendly and helpful, the chef/owner cooks incredible authentic Italian food and the prices are incredible. We won’t be going to the usual Italian chains any longer, this is the only place to go to for Italian food in the city centre and we can’t wait to return

Ottimo! I booked last minute on a Saturday - which can be a risky thing to do. As a consequence, we had the privilege of being sat in the little tables next to the kitchen. Tremendous authentic top quality real Italian food. Andrea and his staff were delightful company and balanced professionalism, managing a very busy kitchen, with friendly interaction. I learned about Italian cuisine and digestifs - welcoming, not patronising. Overall a highlight and a tour de force in proper intimate Italian cooking. Bravo. Forza. Grazie. See you again soon.

Fantastic meal last night ate at the old location but now moved in to Chelmsford centre and Im sure it will become the go to place.Authentic Italien food cooked fresh by Andrea and what food had cuttlefish starter superb as was the whole meal.Great staff friendly and laid back makes for a great evening highly reccomended.

An honest review of our experience- firstly we did not realise that when we booked we would be sat " in the shop", if we had been told this then maybe we wouldn't have been so disappointed when we arrived. That said, the owner was aware and did offer to seat us upstairs in the restaurant when a table became available- as our table was an 8.30pm booking we decided to just stay put as didn't want to wait too long before eating. The food was authentic and filling and in my opinion some of the best Italian I have had outside Italy! The service was okay, I'm allowing for improvement as it has only recently opened, not all staff were dressed appropriately, with hair down etc . The dessert although lovely, was served in a plastic container which we felt was not a good look. The owner offered a complimentary limoncello which is always lovely at the end of the meal and we would definitely return!

What a sublime experience! The most amazingly fresh and tasty food and wonderfully warm service made for a perfect dining experience. It was great to see our food so lovingly prepared during the evening. Delighted to know that the restaurant is relocating to the centre of Chelmsford - it should be a huge hit!

I was really looking forward to visiting this establishment. Not the easiest place to find and parking situation was not good, having to get a ticket to put in your car and then have to return it when you left was cumbersome. The food that I had was good and reasonably priced although there was no veg with my dish. The dessert of tiramisu being served in a plastic pot was not appealing. Did not feel welcomed at all and that the party that I had brought were nothing but an annoyance to the owner.

We’ve been now to this restaurant several times and it’s one of our favourites in Chelmsford. Don’t come if you want something fancy, over priced and pretentious, but do come if you want an informal and relaxed setting with fresh, authentic and really tasty food. We go with our younger children and they love the chicken in lemon cream sauce. No pizza but plenty of pasta and seafood dishes and there are always specials. A well priced range of wines. Really want this kind of independent place to succeed, as getting fed up of all the boring chains in Chelmsford.
