Amalfi in Glasgow City

Amazing food as always, friendly service, owner is always welcoming and as usual out speaking to his customers. Would definitely recommend, good wee spot for lunch, reasonably priced with lunch time menu too. Definitely be back! Well done Jaffa and his team! Keep up the good work!

They need to update their opening hours because their Facebook says they’re open until 11pm and on here and Google it says 10pm on a Friday night but we were rushed out the door at 9pm with all the staff in their coats and ready to go. We met up with friends visiting from Ireland and had booked a table for 7.30pm - greeted by pleasant friendly server but we were seated right next to another table of 4 despite there only being 2 other tables in. Fair enough, we expected that maybe it was going to get busy. But it didn’t and no other tables appeared so seems odd that we were pushed up the far end beside another table when they, and us, could have had a bit of space to chat easily. We ordered drinks and then were quickly asked for our food order but had to ask for a few more minutes. Everybody seemed to be in a hurry to get our order. We placed our orders and chose from the value dinner menu which is available until 8pm and is a good price for around £20 for 2 courses and £24 for 3 courses, although there are lots of dishes with £2 supplements on the menu - still decent value though but does add up. Our starters came out quite quickly and we all enjoyed them. As they cleared the plates, one of our party got up to use the bathroom, wasn’t gone long at all and when she came back her main course had already been brought and sat on the table. Whilst it’s good not to have to wait too long between courses it’s normal for a restaurant to give you time to digest the starter before bringing the main course! Again, food was tasty although it did go cold quite quickly. Mains were cleared quickly and we were asked if we wanted anything else - although got the distinct impression that desserts would be an inconvenience as by this time the waitress who initially served us was in her jacket and leaving around 8.30pm. We asked her what time they closed and she said 9pm. So we ordered 2 liqueur coffees, a liqueur and an another glass of wine between us. We really did feel rushed by all the staff by this point and they were delighted when we asked for the bill. By the time we paid it and finished off our final drinks at 8.55pm the shutters were down and everyone was in their coats waiting to leave. Whilst the food was good and tasty and the majority of staff were friendly we were made to feel like an inconvenience that they couldn’t wait to get rid of at 9pm on a Friday night. Had their opening hours been advertised as closing at 9pm we wouldn’t have chosen this restaurant.

Did exactly what it said it would do, quality food in a central location. Looking forward to going back next time we have a show in the area.

Booked online, arrived slightly early and place jam-packed. They looked irritated and told us to wait. Then told us we were standing in the wrong spot. Thankfully the wait was not long. The waiter took my friends bag off the chair and shoved it next to me. Table was extremely cramped. After starters I thought he was offering to move us because it was so tight but when I said we were ok, he said no we must move because he needed the table. Tried to lift plates when my friend at bathroom. The food was quite nice. Nothing special. Atmosphere very retro, not in a good way. Worst thing being made to feel like an inconvenience.

A wee gem of a place I rediscovered a few years ago. It's now my "go to" place when I'm in Glasgow for a meal before a gig or coming back from the football. Unpretentious, good food, helpful & friendly staff.

Absolutely awful experience. Just left with my cousin and 2 year old. Myself and my cousin both had pasta and it tasted as what I can only describe as mouldy/damp. It was the worst pasta I've ever had. When it came time to get the bill they still charged full price (we certainly weren't looking for a feeebie) but we literally had one bite of our pasta and sent it back. The guy who i assume was a manager came over and said it must be our palate because everyone else's was fine and was extremely rude. Needless to say... Never again 🤢

What a find. !!!! This family run Italian restaurant was great food and value Staff were very welcoming. The early evening offer was great value plenty of choice. Food was freshly cooked and piping hot. We enjoyed it so much we have rebooked Well worth a visit.

Traditional little Italian which really is a gem in a sea of microwave chain restaurants, the food was fresh and tasty and the service was amazing! Definitely visit if you come to Glasgow for fresh, traditional food in an amazing environment with friendly staff and amazing prices. The tiramisu is amazing!

We booked our table for 5pm and arrived 4.55pm Whilst the contents of the meal was nice the service left a lot to be desired An example of the above service was the fact that as soon as our main meal was finished we asked for 5 min break before ordering anything else When the manager returned to see if we wished anything we asked to see the sweet menu which he reluctantly gave us whilst stood to we picked something from it we ordered hot apple pie which arrived at 6pm like a dogs dinner and was cold When he put it down he said we had to hurry as he was busy and needed the table back I then asked the manager what was the time limit on the table which wasn’t advised when making the booking and he informed us 1 hour 15 mins at this stage we had only been in an hour and had eaten a 3 course meal We didn’t eat the pie and he came back minutes later to lift it and he brought the bill to which we paid and left feeling harried an harassed and more or less asked to leave before our ridiculously short window of time was up Although the manager apologised his mannerism left a lot to be desired We always enjoyed this restaurant previously but we will not be back

Very busy night but they managed to squeeze us in which we really appreciated. Food was delicious - carbonara and vegetable lasagna- the staff were courteous, polite and friendly. We had been before and they didn’t disappoint with service and food. Looking forward to our next visit.

I’ve no idea why people rate this place. Service was rude, food was awful and despite better judgment in offering them a tip, they demanded it in cash rather than on the card bill (presumably so the taxman doesn’t see it).

Go to the Amalfi on the regular with all the family, and it is the families goto. Today I went with my daughter and partner and ordered 3 courses, I was alittle bewildered at the customer service, I could feel something wasn't right, as I'm registered severely sight impaired. When I was choosing from the menu I was judged. We choose mozzarella cheese cubes (these were clearly bought in and the tomato sauce was tinned heinz tomato), sirloin steak (medium rare very over oiled) and for desert chocolate cake. My daughter asked for an apple juice, I bit my tongue when the man had quite aggressively slide the bottle the width of the table. I used long white cane due to my blindness, the male server had moved my cane off the table out of reach without telling anyone us. It was only till afterwards my parter said that he was vaping and eating chewing tabbaco at our table when we were deciding our meals

The restaurant goes unnoticed if you aren't looking, but it's worth the find! Excellent, authentic Italian food! Fast, friendly service. The prices are reasonable too. Highly recommend if you are in Glasgow. Within walking distance of the hotels and shopping.

My first time visiting Scotland and I found this cozy little place near the Maldron. Very authentic Italian food. Everything was delicious! The wait staff is friendly and service is fast!

Wonderful small trattoria in central Glasgow. We received a warm welcome without a reservation on a Friday night and a table by the window. Good house rose, savory spaghetti bolognese and a nice alfredo. The caprese salad with sweet balsamic dressing was delicious. The owner was lovely and even stopped what he was doing to take a photo of us outside his restaurant.

Booking was confirmed as 17:00-18:30. We were rushed into ordering and there were some errors on the order. Just before 18:00 we were brought the bill and told that the table was required due to other bookings. When we asked the waiter about the timing, he told us that the table was only available for an hour and a quarter so staff and website differ regarding information. Disappointed that we will not be returning as food has always been tasty but not prepared to be treated this way.

Outstanding restaurant … delicious authentic Italian food - reasonable prices - friendly staff. We discovered this restaurant on trip advisor very close to our hotel and it became our go-to dinner place each night. Wonderful food - wonderful friendly staff that made us feel at home.

On entering, it looked pretty small and a bit cramped. But once we were seated there was actually plenty of space. We went for the dinner menu which was reasonably priced. The food was fantastic, everyone enjoyed it and we will definitely go back.

Our first visit and will definitely not be our last. it would be very easy to overlook this wonderful restaurant as it's exterior is very understated however the experience inside is straight out of Italy. The decor is perfect and the service could not have been better. We sampled the dinner menu and we're blown away by the rustic quality of the food. The service was equally superb and could see the staff so invested in making this restaurant a stand out.

Spotless . The food is excellent with very friendly service. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Try the seafood spaghetti dish after the minestrone soup. And if you have enough room left homemade tiramisu.

We had dinner here tonight as it was the first option we saw. Food was average however service was great. Pasta sauce didn’t have much flavor and the margarita pizza was a regular cheese pizza with no basil. Good for a quick meal.

Loved this little gem. The interior is laid back and casual, immaculately clean but unpretentious with a good old-time feel to it. Service is warm and friendly. Food was delicious. We ate from the lunch menu and it was excellent value. Will definitely return.

Mum and I came in for dinner after the theatre and it was one of the best Italian meals I have had not only in Glasgow but anywhere. The menu was extensive and every course we had was plentiful and delicious. The woman serving us was amazing and appeared so proud of the restaurant, assume it is owned by herself and family. We had 3 courses each, 2 beers, 1 soft drink, 1 bottle of wine and 1 latte - £95! Amazing value! We have already booked to come back!

We had a lovely meal in this great wee restaurant. This was our fourth visit and it was as good as ever. We managed to get our favourite table, next to the door. We do like to people watch! The restaurant was very busy, as Gladys Knight was on at the concert hall, round the corner. We offered to have our after dinner drinks at a table outside. Our wee table inside, was occupied straight away. As always food was excellent. Good sized portions and piping hot. The bottle of Pinot Grigio went down very well too. The staff were lovely. Very helpful and friendly. I’m sure they will have enjoyed my attempts at a wee bit of Italian 😂 We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Was searching thru a list of Italian restaurants in the area, and Amalfi came out, so we decided to try it out. We were very warmly welcomed, and ordered 4 dishes for 4 people. It was the right amount of food for us and each dish catered to us perfectly! Kudos to the team for creating a memorable dining experience for us! P.S the Linguine Frutti di Mare is THE ONE TO GO👍👍👍

The staff was welcoming and the atmosphere was charming. Our food was delicious. My husband had the muscles and I had the sea bass. We would highly recommend them both. There was also a wide selection of traditional and vegetarian friendly options.

I came here over 20 years ago by chance now every time I visit Glasgow with friends I always go to Amalfi food and friendly staff always amazing and home made bread is amazing .

First time here. Food, service was very good which was probably the things that impacted on our experience. So busy we felt very rushed to get in and get out. 40 mins in total. No time in between courses to breathe, people waiting for tables. However would recommend.

I am in here all the time with my friend and his family who are regulars. The service and food are always spectacular! A little hidden away, but well worth a visit. Pasta is always wonderfully cooked, drinks are great! Special shoutout to their own homemade bread, it’s amazing!

Sadly we were sat at the door it was very drafty! It took a while for our order to be taken they were vey busy and were only taking people in with reservations others were asked to come back later! I ordered penne carbonara it was not authentic it was made with cream not egg and the ham was not pancetta we ordered garlic bread it was sliced white loaf toasted with butter an a little garlic on top. I was disappointed my friends had Arabiatta and pizza . Pizza was lovely! White and Rose’ wine fair! I’m sorry but we were disappointed and found it expensive for what it was!

After we saw a rating of 4.5 on Google we thought we get a real good Italian. However, good was very normal, which is a 3. friendly personnel though. What can I say? Bread was not fresh, coke in a can, pasta seemed from the supermarket and taste was ‚normal‘. If you just want to eat to fill your stomach it’s good, don’t expect something special Italian. What really was special was the knife for the pizza. This is rare in restaurants (that’s why I mention it) in that I cut the pizza excellently. This wasn’t facetious but I really liked that

Food was amazing my partner & I both had carbonara which was delicious 😋. We were visiting Glasgow for my partners birthday. Staff were lovely would highly recommend going here if you are ever in Glasgow. Or local to Glasgow.

I went there last week purely by chance, because I was passing by and I wanted to eat Italian food. I had some Sorrento gnocchi and some cannelloni. As an Italian, I feel like saying that the food served here is not Italian as there was pepper and onions in my gnocchi, the mozzarella was not Italian and you couldn't really taste it... the tastes were not Italian at all.. ..there were only two cannelloni, even those full of onion (but why do you put it everywhere?) immersed in a pan full of sauce that looked like slop. I'm sorry when food is passed off as Italian, when it isn't, it should be specified when it is adapted to the local cuisine... because in Italy we eat in a completely different way, with fewer ingredients but of high quality and super tasty.

Lovely starter and dessert. Main course - spaghetti con vongole, my favourite for many years - very disappointing; a sloshy, watery mess which lacked any sign of traditional garlic and chilli flavours. Small portion. So disappointed.

Both food and service were excellent. Perfect location for Glasgow concert hall. Will 100% be back. There are more fancy Italian restaurants in Glasgow but none as inviting and friendly as this one. The food was hot, tasty and didn't have to wait ages.

Visited Amalfi for a friend's birthday celebration. Whilst food was tasty and well presented, the service and attitude of staff leave a lot to be desired. It is appreciated that there is a quick turnaround for tables at this venue, but given we had an average time of 90 minutes for our table, we felt rushed and pressured to leave earlier than designated time slot. The staff were rude, removing plates and glasses without even asking if we were finished and constantly stood over our shoulders to clear table etc. Did not feel comfortable with this and the staff's overall attitude seemed to be one of 'eat and get out'. Very poor service and unfortunately would not recommend or return.

Booked set meal for dinner for myself and 2 friends, which was for birthday celebration. The food was very good, tasty and well presented. The staff and service is another matter, I accept and appreciate a quick turnaround is desired by restaurant staff, however to be rushed and be placed under pressure to leave due to demands on service is not on, given we had table for 90 minutes, on this visit, our plates and glasses were removed before my friends and I had even finished. This spoiled an otherwise pleasant meal. Unfortunately, would not recommend

This restuarant is amazing both food and service are excellent. The staff are very friendly and were very attentive to all our needs. The restuarant is spotless and it has a great buzz about it. It was very busy but the service was great and we didn't have to wait long on our food which was piping hot and tasted delicious. I cannot fault this restuarant and will be back again.

Amalfi has cemented itself as undoubtedly my family's favourite restaurant anywhere. We always receive world-class, personal service and the food is always of the highest quality. All of the staff have a great passion for providing a dining experience to remember - we struggle to eat out anywhere else (The saltimbocca alla romana is not to be missed!)

They managed to fit us in at very short notice on a very busy evening. Service was good, food (salmon and one off the special board) were good. Friendly owner/staff, good value. Ideally located for the Royal Concert Hall

Based on the reviews we were expecting a decent meal but regretfully not what we got. Our starters were poor and minestrone soup was a watery disaster. No amount of salt and pepper could save it. Pasta dishes came within about 5 mins of our starters leaving the table. Again, I've tasted better sauces coming out of a jar. We did not attempt to order another disappointing course. So paid up and left. Not for us.....

Superb food and service with a wee bit of attitude. Brilliant. The spaghetti carbonara was first class and I loved the moules frites. My son raved (unusual for a teenager) the Amalfi meatball starter. He also loved the Toffee Twilight dessert. So, here's the thing ... my wife makes superb Tiramisu, so we never order it when we are out, but the waiter challenged me to try it saying it was free if it wasn't as good as my wife's. I paid for the Tiramisu. The Italian Cab Sauv was a steal too at £24 per bottle in the city centre. We will return ........

Good food at affordable prices.

First time at this restaurant. We came for my better half's birthday as a recommendation. I am glad we listened to that recommendation. Best Italian in glasgow as far as i am concerned. We will definitely be back. Staff were friendly and very professional even during a busy spell as restaurant was full.

Finished in the office earlier than expected so wanted some where to grab a quick meal before getting on the coach at the Coach Station & saw this place … so glad I did. The Amalfi Baked Paste was spot on. Service very good and friendly and all done with politeness and no messing.

One of my favourite restaurants in Glasgow city centre. It’s definitely a spot you shouldn’t miss. I’ve always loved the vibe in here and the service is excellent. Same staff and servers every time we go in. I Love going here for lunch or Dinner. Their beef stroganoff is a must try for sure. I Highly recommend this place.

Had a lovely meal at Amalfi last night, from the soup, main course, coffee and wine, everything was beautifully cooked and delicious, and house wine which I only tried recently tasted lovely
