Alvaston Kebabs in Derby

Don't order pizza unless you want all the topping to be stuck to the pizza box lid and look like a pile of slop, to then ring them up and get told it's because there busy and they will sort it out next time! No they won't because we won't be ordering again from them as this has happened the past 2 times now.

I hadn't been here for quite a while but after visiting friends in Alvaston, we decided to visit on our way home. It was late at night, approx 11.30. There were many people behind the counter, none of which knew what the other person was doing. The place appeared to be greasy and the state of the people behind the counter was that of grime. none looked like they belonged in that kitchen touching and serving food. I told my friend that it appears to be under different management/ownership. We took our food home to the other side of Derby. As soon as I opened my food (Kebab meat & chips) I instantly knew that it was gonna be shoiyt... It was! I called my two friends the next day to ask how their food was... That, too, was shoiyt. The food was terrible however, the price had dropped since my last visit a couple of years ago from £8 to £5?? Having read reviews from others, it is obvious that the place has been taken over. To be fair, the place was never brilliant, just a convenience when visiting the area. Food hygiene rating was 4 back in February 24 but I would argue that they wouldn't reach such a rating if the health visitor called in now. Never again!

Sorry but its a no from us, when i order a small kebab i at least want to fill a child lol never in my life seen a kebab that small 😂😂😂 wont be ordering from here again

Very nice food, very nice delivery

so i’m quite a regular customer from this place and we’ve never once had an issue until tonight, we waited for our takeout and when the food come it was absolutely shocking, at the door when the delivery driver passed me the pizza boxes i did mention that the boxes were very wet and soggy and he apologised at the door and said it was the rain which is fair enough it was badly raining so things like this happen and we can’t help that, we opened our food and all the food was like mush the pizzas wasn’t even pizzas and the burger just looked horrible! we rang the shop and they was very apologetic towards this and we said no worries can we have more food sent out as our order was £30 so it’s not exactly cheap for what we received! the man on the phone said it would be with us in 20 minutes! and hour passed by we rang them again saying we had still not received our food and once they had finally delivered our food again i checked at the door with the driver present and the food looked better than it did and we was happy with it but the taste just wasn’t very nice! this place is usually lovely and like i said before we have never once had a bad takeaway from this place and i get they have good and bad days but they should definitely be checking food before it’s sent out!!

If you’re wanting food after midnight, have a slice of toast instead. Food was freezing cold. Absolutely disgusting

Ordered large kebab but was very disappointed. Absolute tiny portion, would look on the small side for a small, more of a wrap. Paper stuck to kebab and was just a mess, lack of care. only reason for 2 stars, pizza was okay. AK used to be great but must have new management as gone down hill. Lost a loyal customer for many years.

ordered a pizza,& cheesey garlic bread. arrived early and piping hot. The food looked amazing and tasted even better. 10 out of 10. The delivery driver was sound. Big smile on his face. All in all great service and food. I will definitely be ordering again.

Mmmm, disappointed with the food as not as spicy as requested. Get it Friday nights are busy but make an effort for your regulars !

Ordered cheesy chips and got chips with cheese and loads of mayo, it was disgusting. The cheese didn’t even look or taste like cheese and the mayo was gross. Just went straight in the bin. Won’t be ordering from here again.

Hi people, I ordered pizza and chips from this place two days ago and I’ve got to say it was absolutely disgusting. It was tasteless. There was that much mild cheese that I could actually roll up the pizza squeeze it and seal the oil the oil on the base of the tray was disgusting. Nobody could eat it. It was absolutely vile I will never use this place ever ever again.

1st time ordering from them and the food was ok

The kebabs that we ordered were tiny and barely had any meat on. I rang the restaurant and they told me they would refund me because I had pictures as evidence. They never refunded me and never heard anything back

Walked in ordered a Alvaston special told be around ten minutes chips came out asked if I wanted salt and vinegar fifteen minutes later food came out guy in corner with Parker and no gloves stuffing pompadoms into brown bags one of which was mine waited for food for 30 minutes won't be going there again and I would question their hygiene my pompadoms went straight in the bin

I used to love the curries from here, now they’re watery and have no flavour… really gone downhill the past few times I’ve ordered. Won’t be ordering from here again

Food from this place is really bad had pizza and kebab and my kids had fried chicken and not one thing was nice waste of money and no love gone into making the food taste nice I will never eat here again🤦‍♂️

If I could give no stars I would. Got my order wrong.... again. Rang them, told food would be 10 mins, 1hr 45 mins later and loads of calls it turned up cold and still wrong. I rang again was told a refund would be in my bank in 24 hours, 3 weeks on no refund

ordered shish Donna mix and there was no meat in it orders it in a large and it came in a small Iv orders there several times and every time they always seem to get my order wrong or mixed up !!!!

Ordered takeaway from this place waited 1 hour and 30mins and still no delivery so phoned up stated driver would arrive soon will ring me 40 mins later still nothing so phoned up 3 times and ignoring the calls, AVOID THIS PLACE!!! customer service is a disgrace! I rather eat mcdonalds.

We ordered a small donner kebab & a large chicken tikka kebab, donner kebab ok, chicken tikka kebab, what a joke, lucky if I got a handful of meat on it, but still charged me for a large. CERTAINLY WOULDNT ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN 😡

Ordered 2 kebabs had to ring to see where they were.30 mins late & gave me the wrong order.Rang again came back with my order .and the tub of chilli sauce had spilled out all over the bag and the kebabs were stone cold.I ordered 2 large kebabs definetly not large what we got.Will not be going back.

Don't order from them I spent £17 on a kabab and delivery was hank marvin and looking forward for my meal it arrived all excited put it on a plate the stuffed my mouth with a big bite no sooner it went in it came out freezing cold so cold it made me seek called and they said sorry I will give you a refund well still waiting and still sick that was over a week ago so please be weary when ordering you my end up throwing your money down the toilet like I did

Use regular however last night was alittle of a let down went to collect order got home found half of order missing went back replaced complete order with hot food as it had gone cold which was a nice touch however then found had not got full salad on both kebabs also the extra order of sauces were missing food was still good shame really any other time order has been spot on

Ordered a donner special and chips with cheese that came just shy of £18 it came and was very small for the price especially nearly £5 for a half empty box of chips and cheese the kebab was small for nearly £12 am very disappointed the chicken was very dry and shish in tiny pieces( not many) will definitely not recommend, used to be so good we've had them for years

We use these quite often but more and more they disappoint. We have ordered two kebabs and walked to the next street. The chicken tikka is cold, not even slightly warn but cold. My partners donner is the same tenperature There's no way this had been heated to go this cold so soon. Cold bread too. A pile of red onion because they're out of salad. Alit of money for a treat We now regret buying. Never been the beat for hygiene either. We won't be going back to eat there.

Had a great naan kebab here, donner meat fried up with spices and a sauce by chef in the back. Well worth a try. Naan bread was freshly cooked. Almost 12 months of weekly visits to this place and never been disappointed. Big man behind the counter is very accommodating, even treating me to off menu dishes such as his speciality burrito pizza. I can honestly say it's the best kebab house I've ever been to

On a trip to Derby, and wasn't feeling well, so I stopped in and asked for an exta spicy biriyani. It's a shame I didn't ask the name of the friendly, elderly person who served me, but the food was delicious and fulfilled my expectation. I'm overjoyed, and thanks to him for making my dinner memorable.

Not great sadly.Dry nan overcooked meat.rubbish salad.did not see a menu board or price list.l might not have noticed to be honest but they are normally really obvious?.Will try somewhere else in future.This is only my experience others may have had great food.

Normally enjoy the food from here but last night had donner and chips on a tray and shish and chips on a tray. Very poor value for money and not exactly good quality. Can only describe it as a child's portion. Very disappointing

Donner mixed kebab was so.. so.. .. but small lamb kebab was just a joke.. Small ..Spit ot of meat was there with a lot of onions salad with mayonnaise ... doesn't worth even a price of sausage roll..

I've been using Alvaston kebabs for as long as I can remember... however will not be coming here anymore when charging £9 pound for a kebab that used to be £6. I ordered 3 kebabs and 2 chips it's was £34 😲 that's crazy, should of had a Chinese instead!

Ordered from here last night, I ordered 2 kababs and 2 kabab kids meals, and a kabab and chips and a large chips and cheese, not only was the chips a cheese half empty, but everyone of us of got food poisoning from the kababs, i do not recommend anyone ordering from this place.

Poor quality.kabab meat taste like they cook it yesterday and today just warm in microwave. Will not order from here again.

Ordered large shish / tandoori mix kebab chips 2 yogurt mint only sent 1 and the kebab i wouldn't even call it a small very disappointing

Ordered large kebab and curry. Delivered promptly, upon opening my kebab was small. I called them and they immediately sent another one. Curry was great! Kebab was great! Thank you for sorting out my order quickly.

Every time I've ordered donner has been cold and stale cheese chips cheese not melted chips cold ask for no white cabbage end up with tons of but the curries are good not the best but good average rice always cold

Firstly, the delivery time was estimated to be about 30 mins but this was increased to around an hour. This could be a one-off but it's only a Monday night; which suggests to me they should increase their initial delivery estimates. Secondly, they forgot our poppadoms and pickles which were supposed to be included in our meal deals... 😔 As for the food, I was really disappointed in my dansak, no flavour whatsoever 😞 The onion bhajis and pakoras were a slight let down too, no crisp to them (the batter recipe needs improving +/ the cooking time) - but the bhajis did have a nice flavour. The samosas were okay, but could do with a little longer cooking time too. Upsides - my partner's pathia was BEAUTIFUL, however not spicy in the slightest. Would still rate highly though, the flavour was there. They also gave us a free 1.5L of Pepsi for spending over the threshold. Nice gesture, but was full-sugar Pepsi which I can't have... 😅 To conclude, I'm really sorry but I don't think I will be ordering here again. All the best.

So ordered from here .. mum recommended the curry so ordered a curry and rice and chips and large donner for the other half and t came and the size portion was shocking! If it qas ment to be a large no more then 5 mouth fulls! To ring up and to be told he been making kebabs all day! Well ovb you work then but can't justify that soze for £4.90!!! Will not be ordering again!!!

Wow! Who ever answered the phone to take my order had the worst telephone manner. Wasnt friendly at all, sounded like I was a inconvenience. Safe to say I hung up. Wont be using this place again.

Kebab is too small for price .order couple times but always the same dont recommended kebab but pizza definitely recommended. Nice warm taste.

Had a curry meal deal from alvaston kebabs last night it was one of the best curries I have ever tasted and I am an avid curry fan, it was delivered in less than expected time. Chicken bhuna included rice chips naan bread and poppadoms. All I can say was it was absolutely delicious top marks

Had a great dinner. Though the delivery took more time than usual. We enjoyed the meal. The tandoori chicken was my favourite. The quality and quantity was more than expected. And all it was complimented with two of 9" papadoms and a 1.5 litre Pepsi

Very good takeaway. This isnt from 1 order but from the last couple of years and numerous. Yes it isnt perfect but the food is good, service good, mostly quick delivery and really friendly when collecting. Orders can go wrong but they will do something if you tell them. I recommend
