First visit to this unique Lebanese restaurant. Really great food. The staff is up to the mark and provides professional service. The chef even serves the customers himself. It's excellent.

Very authentic Lebanese and Syrian cuisine. Bit tucked away behind Lane7 but I can't stress how much it's worth persevering to find/walk to. Genuinely some of the best Tajin and falafel we've had in our lives. First rate service, friendly to non-locals, really clean, wide selection. Wonderful experience, thank you Alsham!

Amazing place very friendly staff

Our first trip to Newcastle and to Alsham (because we love Syrian/Lebanese food). We should've come at a different time as we didn't realise people would be breaking their Ramadan fast. There was a good buffet on for those breaking their fast. However we fancied items on the menu, and the staff were so friendly that although they were busy we chose from the menu and the food was great. My aubergine and chicken maklooba was really good. The portions are huge (for us) so don't order too much. We'll definitely return to Alsham when we have a trip to NCL again! Tip: It's in quite a dark part of town, after sun down, so unless you're not going far I'd get a taxi home. (We were staying close by - so it wasn't a problem.)

Ordered at 17:15 did not arrive for over 2hrs 30mins, food was freezing cold and incorrect items. No help from the restaurant when contacted, I was just told they were “busy”. This is my second experience of significant delays in delivery and cold food. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered again. what a mistake that was!! Please don’t waste your time or money.

Excellent service and friendly, the food is very tasty, it's a shame I was only able to eat one dish and I loved it and was super satisfied, it is highly recommended to go and enjoy an excellent meal

This place has an outstanding service and great food, we came here for the iftar menu and both the food and the service were exceptional. A great combination of Middle Eastern hospitality and a unique mix of flavours. The place is very nicely decorated and it has a very lovely homely feel where the staff will be looking after you at all times. The iftar menu had a great selection of cold mezze, hummus, stuffed grape leaves, samosas, chicken wings, and much more. As for the mains they had also a few items on the menu such as makloube. I’ve really enjoyed the food, the drinks and the sweet desserts after. I highly recommend this place.

We came to AlSham for the Ramadan buffet and we really enjoyed it. The variety in food was very much worth the price! So many appetisers, the mains were delicious and there was plenty of juice and desserts. Will definitely come back again. The hospitality was pure Syrian - staff were amazing.

We went for iftar and they served a delicious buffet, the staff were very welcoming especially the older gentleman who serves the coffee. This is a very authentic restaurant and serving absolutely delicious food, like home cooked, not greasy, not cold, not bland, very very flavourful. I will be going back again and this is my new go to place in newcastle and I will be telling all my family and friends about it too. Thank you for the lovely hospitality. Highly recommend you won't be let down.

The worst and most expensive kebab in Newcastle. I choose the restaurant by the high google map reviews. Now I really doubt about it. It firstly too 45mins to get the food (just normal grill) and no water or anything else supplied during that time, which I have never experienced. Secondly, I paid £16 for a lamb skewer meal, and I only got 8 small pieces of lamb cube!!! That probably around 1.5 skewers from other store, which normally cost £5 each skewer. I asked the skewer number after ordered and was not believe the answer until I saw the food! The taste was honestly just ok, not tender at all. But the lamb chop tastes good. The environment was not joyful, kids were shouting around. Very badly is the lady force you to scan and leave feedback on google map when you check out.

About the food, I ordered the lamb shish. I've been to many kebab restaurants, and here it cost £16.50—making it expensive lamb shish (it was even pricier than a highly-rated kebab place in central Copenhagen). Despite the high price, the portion of lamb was the smallest I’ve seen. Although there were eight pieces (presumably two skewers), each piece was very small. On top of that, the serving time was extremely long—I waited about 40 minutes. Regarding the environment, it was really noisy during my meal, mainly because there was a baby who kept crying the entire time. I was very hungry, and after waiting nearly 40 minutes for my food, the waitress opened the front door—likely to let out the smoke from grilling—making the restaurant somewhat cold inside. Just imagine: I was starving, cold, and had a constantly crying baby nearby. It was truly miserable. As for the service, the lady who took my order was very friendly, but she just couldn't remember my requests. When ordering, she asked if I wanted cold or hot water, and I said hot water. Yet during the entire 40-minute wait, no water was served at all. When the food finally came, I reminded her about the water, and she brought me a glass of cold water instead. This wasn’t a one-off mistake, because I saw a family at the next table arguing with the waitress about receiving the wrong dishes. Eventually, the boss intervened, redid their order, and gave them a complimentary dish to appease their dissatisfaction. Finally, when I went to pay, the lady at the register repeatedly asked me to scan a Google Review QR code and leave a positive review, which felt very pushy and made me uncomfortable—especially given the long wait time, the disappointing food, and the overly noisy environment. I do not recommend this restaurant.

The best restaurants in the UK amazing food and service. very reasonable price. The restaurant was very crowded we had to wait for 15 minutes but it was worth the wait. The owner him self came down and was checking on the tables he was lovely he managed very well even though it was very busy. The food was extremely nice I've never tasted better Lebanese food then Alsham restaurant I would definitely recommend it.

Fantastic food great atmosphere and lovely staff. I had a great time the decoration was absolutely stunning couldn’t keep my eyes of the water fountain or the ceiling. Very precious Architecture. The restaurant was very crowded we had to wait for 15 but it was definitely worth the wait.

I'm blown away by the incredible food experience! The Chicken Mandi and Lamb Mandi were absolute perfection - the meat was tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. Even the kids loved it! The freshly prepared mayonnaise with a punch of fresh garlic flavor was the icing on the cake. And to top it all off, the complimentary mint tea was truly mind-blowing! The staff were so lovely and provided timely services, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, a fantastic dining experience that exceeded all expectations. Highly recommended!

I recently dined at a Al Sham and had a great experience. The mixed grills were flavorful and perfectly cooked, while the hummus was smoothly delicious. We were also treated to complimentary tea and baklava, which were a lovely touch. The staff was friendly, making the whole meal even more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be back!

I ordered chicken curry, mandi rice, and tabbouleh salad. To be honest, the food is more than wonderful and delicious. After eating, they brought me apple tea and sweets. we took the al shams mixed grill, which was enough for 2 person in 20pounds. and the mango lassi was very rich with flavours. Finally, The complimentary mint tea and the baklava bites stole our heart.

Excellent place. Huge traditional portions and endless menu choices and combinations. Is right next to Newcastle College so if you are in the area stop for a visit. Recommended if you like traditional Lebanese food.
