I was on my way to Edinburgh but decided to have lunch here, and that was a VERY wise decision. Excellent food, very friendly staff, very reasonable prices. Staff might be overwhelmed with customers sometimes but they make it up to you with free coffee/tea!

Went with family and had a wonderful experience at this Lebanese and Syrian gem! The mint tea is an absolute must try. The Mandi was a standout dish, the meat was incredibly well-cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. The lamb kofta was delicious, well-seasoned, and grilled to perfection. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout. Our kids loved the decor, especially the beautiful display of antiques from Lebanon and Syria - a unique touch that added to the charm. The ambience was warm and inviting, with cultural elements throughout. Also convenient, there is a paid parking lot just across the road. A fantastic place for a family meal. Highly recommended!

Over rated, not a good experience, food was very dry and didn’t feel tasty and fresh. I am used to Arabic food but this wasn’t what I travelled 15 miles to reach this place just because of the number of reviews. 1. Food did not feel fresh 2. Service was very casual, the way of talking was not good 3. Platter did not have any salad or dressing, no hummus nothing, just dry pieces of onions. 4. Fresh juice was served without filtering it with seeds and lot of fibers, that too served in the end after finishing our food and waiting 10 minutes. Although in the end they apologised for the juice as they thought they were seedless oranges which was wasnt the case in this unfortunately and they did not charge me for the orange juice.

I ordered the Chicken Mandi and Lamb Mandi from this restaurant. The Chicken Mandi was delicious—tender, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. However, the Lamb Mandi was a bit disappointing. The meat wasn’t as tender as expected and lacked the same flavor quality as the chicken. Overall, a decent experience, but I’d definitely recommend the chicken over the lamb.

We visited for lunch, the food was delicious and freshly prepared, except the chicken shawarma meat that was probably from the day before....

The food is delicious. Grilled chicken and aubergine moussaka are the best. Also very nice freshly squeezed juices at decent price. Definitelly worth visiting.

Had an evening meal in the restaurant before a show at the Arena and the food was tremendous. There was a little problem with the order (wrong thing written down so wrong meal brought out) but the lengths they went to make up for the resulting delay were much appreciated. They apologised, were very attentive and gave us some little freebies on the house. They went over and above to rectify the mistake and seemed to care deeply - excellent customer service! Food was amazing, large portions, fresh and tasty, good value for money. Would recommend! We will definitely go back.

This restaurant is one of the best Middle Eastern restaurants I have ever tried and I live in London. Flavours are so simple yet authentic. It’s so reasonably priced as well and portions are massive. With £45 I had enough food for 2 days!

It is very close to the city center, very clean and nicely decorated. There are vegetarian, vegan and halal options. You can find flavors from Syrian and Arabic cuisine. It has a friendly and helpful staff. We preferred the open buffet breakfast and liked it very much. The price performance was very good.

I love these kind of places. Understated, no frills. Kind people as only Mediterranean people can be. Food was excellent. I highly recommend it. It's off the beaten track but close enough to the railway station. Approved 👍

The food was amazing the lamb was so soft and so tender and the flavour was just AMAZING! The drinks ( mango juice and strawberry milkshake) was soo delicious and sweet. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Absolutely delicious food. Service was a delight, attentive, friendly staff. We ordered one or two dishes we'd never tried like the Mansaf Lamb ( a new addition to the menu) which is outstanding. Fresh fruit juices to accompany lovely Middle Eastern flavours. Sadly we live in Glasgow but.....I'll make a point of being back here again. A wonderful experience. And very reasonably priced.

Had breakfast at Alsham and it was such a great start to the day. The food was fresh, flavorful, and served with care. Everything had that authentic, homemade taste — you could tell the ingredients were quality and the kitchen knew what they were doing. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home. Service was good without being rush. Whether you’re craving a traditional spread or just a cozy spot for a good meal, Alsham definitely delivers. Highly recommend if you’re in the area🤍

Me and my family went to this place after a long day and road trip and the service was terrible!The overall decor was not bad but we waited and sat there for 45 mins and nobody came to give us water!Even when the waiter came to give us cutlery,we asked for some water and he didn't even bring it,I asked for how long would the food take and their was no response.So me and my family just left and went to a noodle place 5 mins away

A restaurant run by a Syrian family and everything is beautiful

First visit to this unique Lebanese restaurant. Really great food. The staff is up to the mark and provides professional service. The chef even serves the customers himself. It's excellent.

Very authentic Lebanese and Syrian cuisine. Bit tucked away behind Lane7 but I can't stress how much it's worth persevering to find/walk to. Genuinely some of the best Tajin and falafel we've had in our lives. First rate service, friendly to non-locals, really clean, wide selection. Wonderful experience, thank you Alsham!

Visited as a party of ten Fantastic food and atmosphere, would recommend.

Our first trip to Newcastle and to Alsham (because we love Syrian/Lebanese food). We should've come at a different time as we didn't realise people would be breaking their Ramadan fast. There was a good buffet on for those breaking their fast. However we fancied items on the menu, and the staff were so friendly that although they were busy we chose from the menu and the food was great. My aubergine and chicken maklooba was really good. The portions are huge (for us) so don't order too much. We'll definitely return to Alsham when we have a trip to NCL again! Tip: It's in quite a dark part of town, after sun down, so unless you're not going far I'd get a taxi home. (We were staying close by - so it wasn't a problem.)
