Almost Famous in Manchester

American here. The Burger was fine but nothing life changing. The fries are terrible and the bill includes a service charge for already overpriced food.

Worst fried chicken burned. Fries were moist and oily, I liked the Mac and cheese balls.

Late night eating after a night out on the town food was excellent

So I was advised to look up Almost Famous if ever in Manchester. My son's open day at the University provided the perfect opportunity. On arrival the location was busy with a half hour wait. The front of door staff took my number and advised us a text message would be received when table free. Sure enough as we browsed local shops I received the text. We returned and were taken immediately to our table. Our friendly waitress soon took our drinks and food orders. My son opted for the Triplenom (double cheeseburger, slow cooked pork, BBQ) and me the Unabombe, unique to the restaurant (double cheeseburger, chorizo, jalapenos). We both ordered a portion of winning fries with sauces. Food arrived shortly after and omg this was amazing. Burgers were cooked perfectly, juicy, full of flavour in fact with their unique accompaniments they were the best I've ever eaten. Fries were good too but perhaps one portion would have been enough for us both (we struggled after demolishing the burgers). The food was good value and well worth it. Service included in the bill but I have no issue with this in fact I tipped additionally due to the quality of food. Five-star experience only marked the atmosphere down due to time of day, could imagine this place bouncing in the evenings. Well done AFNQ.

Booked a table online, however we arrived around 15 minutes late. Not a problem at all! The place was very busy as it was a Saturday early evening. This is a casual place, in the heart of the laidback Manchester Northern Quarter. We where served very quickly, food ordered and we didn't have to wait very long. The burgers and pimped up fries where absolutely fantastic, big portions, messy and very tasty as a good burger should be. I felt the costs was pretty reasonable for a fairly unique burger experience, I would not hesitate to book again. It was a boys afternoon at the rugby. Beer, burgers and chips. What more could you want. Well done to the AF Team that afternoon.

I visited Almost Famous for the first time yesterday. The food was gorgeous and staff very friendly indeed, they couldn't do enough for you.

Sat down outside, acknowledged the waitress so she saw us.... Waited a few mins so went and got our own menus. Then waited a further 10-12 mins and nothing.. Gave up.

The service and atmosphere were excellent. we were seated quickly, and we received a warm, friendly welcome. Food was good overall. The burger had a great flavor, though it was slightly soggy, and the fries were delicious. Be warned, the portions are generous—you could easily share one order of fries between two people! However, the price is the main reason I wouldn't return. For two burgers, two fries, a coke, and a house beer, the bill came to around £60. In Manchester, there are plenty of places offering great burgers for nearly half that price.

Bit overpriced for what we had really. Been to the one near Deansgate quite a while back and was much better. Staff were great though.

Food was brilliant and service was fast, nothing to complain about really.

The burgers were fine but nothing special. The pizza fries were genuinely amazing. The service was atrocious, the restaurant wasn’t busy but we had to wait while all five staff started and finished a conversation for a good five minutes before seating us. The service was moody and surly like they were really doing us a favour taking our order and bringing food. Five guys burgers are better, cheaper and the service is a lot friendlier too.

Really enjoyed the burgers here. Tasty and well made. Pleasantly surprised with how good the burgers were. We had the lunchtime deal and it was good value for money. Service was spot on too!

Ordered delivery and the food had obviously been sat in its packaging for absolutely ages before getting picked up as the chips and bread were so unbelievably soggy that they were inedible. So disappointing and unappetising.

The burger was good. I had the Liberty Island burger. Good combination of flavours, mild, and a tender chicken. Good amount of salad which is often something I miss in burgers here. It was not too greasy and the burger bun was light. The fries were dead, and this can’t be blamed on the delivery. Not much taste, not good standard. The spicy chicken wings (hot AF) were disappointed, didn’t taste good. The bacon dip was not after our licking as well. The Mac cheese balls were a tad too greasy and not much taste to them. I could eat two and the rest was wasted. Same with the fries. If the price reflected the quality I’d give three stars because the burger was good. Somehow I’m even more disappointed that this is what you had to offer on a weekday though. More flavours and quality to the food and you’ll one day be famous.

Best burger there is! We visited Manchester from Birmingham (for a city tour) and I really think this restaurant is worth the trip to Manchester alone. The chips were there best I've had then I tried the burger which was even better.. the service was spot on, couldn't fault any of the workers who work there.. my eldest who's quite fussy with food gave if a 10/10 👌

We visited Manchester for the weekend and ended up coming here twice for the burgers. The vibe perfectly matched the quality of the food, creating a fantastic dining experience. The music added to the great atmosphere. Don’t miss out on this place!

Gorgeous food and great service

So much better than the Great Northern one. Nice atmosphere, great burgers including a lunch deal Monday to Friday worth having. Service was efficient and friendly. They are also doing discounted kids meals over the summer holidays so a good deal all round. Tried the chicken nuggets too but not massively impressed so maybe stick to burger!

I enjoyed the location and found the ambiance quite pleasant. However, the cheeseburgers were just okay. I might consider skipping this place if I’m craving for a cheeseburger.

The Burgers are really great here. Cocktails weren't so good, so I'd get something else drinks wise.

Always a good time, great options for seating both inside and outside and a great choice of vegan, veggie and meat options. Most burgers can be made vegan or veggie upon request. Staff are incredibly friendly and the managers are always on hand to help you with any issues. Perfect if you are looking for a good quality burger in a venue with quirky vibes

Very tasty burgers and original toppings. Maybe a little small. Very light and fresh local beer. The mixed fries with bacon and cheddar are excellent.

Cannot fault the food in any way at all. I would definately eat here again...... However if you are wanting a cocktail with you meal be advised as some of the cocktail choices are incredibly small and and therefore way overpriced!

Good tasting burgers on a sunny day. Due to the good weather we were able to eat on the tables in the street. We shared the chips between us as there was plenty to go around. Service was quick but we asked for tap water twice and wasn’t brought any, plus despite metal cutlery being present inside was offered wooden ones, not the end of the world however. Overall a good experience and a solid burger.

Food was amazing as always! We had a great time with my friend here, Sam was exceptional! He made our evening 10/10, providing excellent customer service! We'll come back soon for sure :)

Visited from London and decided to try this place out. Absolutely no regrets! I had the Awesome HQ burger which had 2 beef burgers, 2 chicken strips and halloumi. While this might sound like overkill, it very well might the best burger I've ever had (and this is coming from a guy that's tried most of the popular burger places in the UK). Portions were great, plenty of chips and everything is just seasoned to perfection. I really hope the franchise expands to other cities, if this was in London, it would put most burger restaurants out of business!

Visited recently for a date night. We enjoyed a couple of cocktails before tucking into our burgers and sides. Food and drinks were all great, but I highly recommend the Mac Balls and the Butter Blood & Blue. Unfortunately, the service although polite was very inattentive once we had our food. I would have ordered another drink but it took so long to get someone over that we just got the bill. Also, the toilets were a complete state. My date didn't even want to use them they were that bad and there was also no toilet roll.

The Unabomber burger was great - spicy but not painful & incredibly tasty. The pig & waffle fries were genuinely loaded & equally tasty. The star of the show were the teriyaki chicken wings which were hands down the best wings I've ever had in my life!

Had such a lovely time here. Best burger I’ve eaten in a long time and the bottomless brunch experience was incredible. The staff were really attentive and took new orders once our drinks were almost done. Definitely coming back again next time I’m in Manchester!

Food was great; came quickly, was hot, tasted great, portions were sizeable. The cocktails are good too. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Had been my birthday a couple days before, which I had mentioned on my booking and I was given a free shot. Nice atmosphere, chilled out with good music.

Spontaneous day out in Manchester, always heard great things about Almost Famous, and REALLY wanted to love it. Alas, it didn’t quite live up to expectation. Lunch deal of burger + fries for £12.50 - banging. Cocktails at 2 for £15, epic. Myself, my best friend, and my partner sat down, looked after very well by one of the staff - when the beer I wanted wasn’t available, he recommended another, and his recommendation was spot on - the girls ordered cocktails, which were presented well, and they liked them enough to order 5 each… Food came out, looked good, but just lacked that “something” to make it what I was expecting, with the influx of “smashed burger” places popping up, it was nice to get a chunky burger, but it just lacked. The winning fries were average at best, and the food left me a little deflated, I finished mine, as it wasn’t offensive, just not what I wanted it to be, the girls both left more than 50% of their burgers. My second beer was ordered with a different waiter - and it most certainly wasn’t the same as my first (or my third) tasted like cream soda, and wasn’t to my taste at all, I chalked it up to maybe being the glass, and didn’t complain, but did speak to the original waiter as he took my order for the third beer. Whilst sat with drinks still infront of us, the server who initially sat us, and was great throughout, brought us the bill, a little premature I had thought, as we would have fully sat and drank a couple more cocktails/beers given the chance, the restaurant had 3 or 4 empty tables just in the front area also, not exactly a time to be rushed out on a Tuesday afternoon - I get the idea of time limiting tables during busy periods, but most certainly a missed sales opportunity there. I really really wanted to love this place, and I probably will give it another shot if/when I’m back in Manchester, but sadly it missed the mark this time.

Went for an afternoon meal with friends - wasn't booked but they were really accommodating in finding a table for 5 plus a dog. Loved that it was dog friendly, they brought her a bowl of water too. Food was AMAZING 👏 So so yummy! Some of the tastiest food I've had in a while. Staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was nice and chill. Would definitely recommend!

top tier, hands down the best burger I have eaten. staff were spot on especially Harry and Connor. both polite and welcoming. Me and my Mrs had nice evening and this place really set the tone. wasn't overly busy but food times were good didn't wait long at all and again food was amazing. staff were really attentive and couldn't ask for more if I could give more than 5 stars I would. will be back again said said it was the nicest burger she had ever eaten.

Fantastic little restaurant. Been waiting a while to try this place and I was not disappointed. Small menu, which is good because it means the food they do is spot on! The food was just amazing! Ate 2 different burgers and fries. Simply perfect in terms of taste and composition. Not too dry, not too many ingredients, not too few. Precisely. After our first bites we just said wow! Any time.

The burger was nice, but expensive for what it's. If you want a burger with fried, it will cost you almost £20 as the side is not included. We sat outside, we had to get inside to get the menu ourselves, and we had to order at the counter. An automatic 10% service charge was added to the bill! But because we pay at the counter and they don't give the receipts or tell you, we didn't realise straight away. Personally, i will not come back.

Had a lunch burger on a calm Thursday. The service was kind and helpful. The burgers was good and the mix of fries and sweet potato fries was really good.

While the fries may have been a bit cold, the outstanding service provided by Maziar more than made up for it. His fantastic attitude and behavior exemplified first-class service, and we couldn't have been happier with our experience. In a nutshell, it was a great overall experience.

If I could leave more than 5 stars for the service I would. We (4 people) went to almost famous Friday 19th April for the bottomless brunch. We were surprised how quiet the place was so we didn’t have much hope. We were greeted by the server, who was so lovely, seated and told how the brunch works. We ordered our first drink and our 90 mins bottomless drinks started from then. The food arrived next and we could not believe the amount you got. We each got wings 8/10, various burgers which we all rated 9/10 and bacon fries 10/10. The drinks were constantly coming, not once did we have to call the server over for more drinks. Honestly the server was incredible, I can’t remember their name but we were booked in at 2pm so Almost Famous give this server a massive shout out from us. We have been to Liverpool and Manchester restaurants now and can’t recommend them highly enough. I think the people of Manchester are sleeping in on this class spot. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Manchester.

Visiting when they had the half-term offer on which is a really great offer. We all really enjoyed our food and the service was friendly.

Quick and friendly service, was quiet when we went as just opened for lunch on a Monday. Food was really nice and came out quickly (not too quickly to make you wonder if they were cooked or warmed up) Losing a star for the stealth service charge on the receipt which I spotted later on, could be wrong but I didn't spot anything on the menu about a service charge being added to the bill. Optional tip would be better.

Just…. meh. Our party of 4 booked here for dinner last night. Staff were friendly and atmosphere was okay. We LOVE a good burger joint so we were excited to try it out, the menu looked so promising. Food arrived after about half an hour which I think is okay on a Saturday night. Here’s my issue. The food wasn’t bad, it was just instantly forgettable. It was basically Mac Donald’s level of quality at 5X the price. There is no love in that food, it’s all just passably ‘Okay’. You can’t charge so much for that. I would have given this restaurant 3 stars but our first drink to come out had a massive lipstick stain on the glass. I’m not talking, small faint mark. I’m talking - that glass has not been washed since the last person - fresh

Probably the best burger I’ve ever had, worth the price 100%

My friend and I recently visited Almost Famous NQ for some pre-gig scran. We received a warm welcome from Joe, and we were quickly taken to our table. I really liked the decor and overall vibe of the restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, and so were our cocktails. At the reasonable price of 2 for £15, it was hard to say no to a few cocktails with our meal. The 'pig and waffle' fries were so good! I genuinely could have eaten 10 trays of them (if I hadn't already been full by the time I'd eaten my burger and fries. We both would like to extend a special mention to Joe, because he really was a fantastic waiter who was very attentive and had a great sense of humour. Thank you.

We visited yesterday evening 06/04/24 we just before 9pm around 10 to 9 were seated quickly despite not having a booking so 1 point for that. But service from then on after was painstakingly slow for a “fast food” restaurant. Took around 15 almost 20 minutes for our order to be taken and to be honest the place isn’t that big, we ordered our food and it wasn’t until almost 10pm we got our food. Cmon guys do better it’s only a burger and fries!! Doesn’t take over 45min for 2 burgers and some fries. The food, so we both ordered 2 double cheese burgers each, tasted fresh decent brioche bun but nothing more than that, pretty average burgers nothing special and not worth the hype. Fries were run of the mill Lamb Weston skin on fries nothing special again and weren’t particularly hot. Price including some drinks came to just over £50 , absolute robbery for some average burgers. Cost to make these not more then £2 to make average ingredients nothing out of the ordinary, the no bacon bacon mayo, ketchup and bbq sauce on the burger didn’t add any wow factor just another fad and the burger size was very small. All in all average food, average decor, slow service and expensive price, would not return or recommend. You are better off going to Archie’s, Honest Burger or any of the 100s of Fast Food Burger joints specialising in Smash Burgers or American Style Burgers, for less then half the price with the same but if not better quality. Don’t waste your money on this mediocre average joint.

The food was good when it came. My son and I order a burger each and fries to share. The order came after 45 mins and only when I went up to staff to say we needed to go as we had tickets to see Peter Kay. Which was amazing. I told the staff member we needed to leave and I wanted a refund. The staff member said he had been told by a manager not to give a refund. The staff member stated he had been told by his manager we can have a take away and he was not authimorised for give a refund. We ate the burgers very fast. We had already paid for them. We could not have eaten a take away dashing along the road. I had not mentioned a refund to the staff member before he had appeared with the food. I think 45 mins is unacceptable to wait fir a burger. I had even given 10% service charge payment on ordering and paying. They should have worn stripe tops as uniform as I was robbed. At no point was I told there was ar least a 30 wait for food or we wouldn't have ordered. This is what the staff member tried to say we were told. This was a lie.

Food was great and friendly service, but expensive for what it is. The 3 stars is due to paying nearly £20 for a burger and chips and being given a wooden fork to eat it with, like I'm at the chippy. The fries are so loaded I wanted proper cutlery to eat them with, but had to ask for a metal fork. For that price they should put some knives and forks on the table, it's not a lot to ask for.

Today my flatmate and I had our lunch in this restaurant and it was a great disappointment for us. We both love burgers. We ordered two hamburgers, two drinks and some wings to share. Drinks came in 3 minutes - we had to wait 20 minutes for the food. Our burgers were so small they were gone after 5 bites. Meat was overcooked (nobody asked us for the cooking point) and small: double burger was the same size as a regular burger anywhere split in two. No fries came with our burgers. Wings dish consisted of 7 pieces, as small as the burgers. We left the place almost as hungry as when we sat on the table. We were charged almost £45, including 10% service fee nobody informed us about. Overpriced for a place with no paper napkins but kitchen rolls. I give this place 2 stars due to the table service received and the venue’s music.
