Almost Famous in Manchester

So the foods not amazing, not bad, but not worth the price, also it's one of those places which slap on a 'service charge' despite little to barely any service being offered, if I want to leave a tip I will.

Amazing special! The moment I saw the 'Cereal Killer' special come up on my Instagram feed I knew I had to try it. I've had many incredible burgers at Almost Famous but this one matched my expectation of being one of their best. Brisket is one of my favourite additions to a burger and this one had plenty of perfectly cooked and marinated slices. Along with some of the tastiest beef patties you'll find and delicious sauces made for a tremendous burger. The 'beerios' added a lovely crunch, along with the pickles too, to complete a beautiful stack. It all held together well in the soft bun and I enjoyed every bite. It's impossible to just have a burger here so I had some 'Pho-king' chicken blasts too and they slapped as always. Juicy strips with a nice crispy coating and loads of tasty teriyaki sauce. The service I received was excellent and the overall experience made me even more grateful that Almost Famous has been revived. The best place for massive messy burgers in Manchester and Liverpool (and hopefully in Leeds in the future). Previous visit: Always leave satisfied! I'd been meaning to have their 'Son of a Nutcracker' festive burger again having really enjoyed it a couple of years ago. It was as delicious as I remember. Nice thick sausage patty, delicious fried chicken and great flavours from the sauces and slaw. Couple of minor gripes though... They forgot the pickles I requested which shouldn't have been difficult to process seeing as though I only ordered the burger. And my pig in blanket topper was more like a pig out of the blanket. Having read my review of it last time I had a similar moan about the pig in blanket. These things were far from spoiling my experience but show small areas for improvement. The staff were pleasant as usual and AF remains my go-to for big burgers. Another previous visit: Guaranteed delight! Nowhere better for burgers. Delicious messy food and superb service everytime. Now that I've had so many fantastic visits to their various branches I have a hard time choosing from their amazing menu! I eventually settled on the Lucky's Chicken special. Superb crispy and tasty fried chicken thigh on 2 of their lovely juicy beef patties with mac & cheese which also had great flavour. Not quite as messy as the other burgers I've had but a top tier offering as usual. To get my pulled pork fix I had the Pig & Waffle Fries. Almost a meal on their own, packed with meat and beautifully crisp fries. Definitely my go to place. I know I'll always depart with a big grin and a full stomach! Another previous visit: Went in to try the Festive special menu and it was top notch. The 'Son of a Nutcracker' burger had amazing flavours from the sauces and beef patties. The fried chicken was crisp but moist inside and topped with tasty winter coleslaw. The sausage roll on top was a lovely addition too. They could've been a bit more generous with the pig in the blanket though. It was definitely a piglet! The staff were great and overall it was a brilliant visit.

Decent food,very good staff and an excellent atmosphere.

Food was great, I had the wings (HOT AF sauce which is like a medium buffalo) the juicy double with bacon and fries/chips. I tried a friends mac and cheese ball that was so nice with and without the sauce! Aside from getting served Pepsi in a Coke glass 😂 experience was awesome !

Monday night, booked in advance, but waited 90 minutes for food!! Were they killing the calf?! Food great when arrived, but not recommended if in a hurry.

Fantastic spot for burgers and fries. Great menu with lots of options for all diners. The staff are accommodating and friendly. I had a mango margarita, Liberty Island burger, and winning fries. The food was so fresh and delicious. Definitely recommend this spot!

Had the almost famiud burger that didn’t really taste nice, was raw and way too much sauce on it, the presentation was nice and the service was good. A little bit dissatisfying..🥲

Great food, great location, great service.

We called in on a busy day and still got a sitting. We had to wait for about 15-20 minutes for our burgers but we did order five burgers with fries and it was busy so the weight wasn't too long. Service was excellent. Staff was pleasant and polite. The atmosphere was okay. Where was that was a bit dark but I will post up the menu for the prices so you can have a look at which I think are quite respectable prices overall. I would call again next time I'm in the northern quarter. Me and my family enjoyed it. Very pleasant atmosphere I can recommend the blame it on the whisky burger which is the one that I had and everybody else at the table said they enjoyed their meal and left present quite full because the portions are not small by a long chork, So for your big eaters out there get two if you think you can eat them but I don't think you would, overall , Very enjoyable meal . Burgers are okay, fries are okay, chicken wings are small with an okay flavour. Far from this being the self claimed ‘happiest place on earth’ though, and that’s the problem. Some effort has been made, but it just doesn’t hit, it actually feels extremely last decade. Unless your utopia is a back street restaurant with bang average food, peeling wallpaper, and plates made out of plastic—don’t bother.

Waited over an hour to get served a cold meal, nobody was around/asked us how it was or else id have sent it back... Probably because they knew the meal was shocking! Been to almost famous loads of times before they closed and was pleased it was opening again; however, won't be going back again. Not surprised it closed.

Waited an hour for cold chips, was nearly late for a gig, not the waiting staff's fault but idk what was going on in the kitchen. All the tables around us waited the same time

Had a booking for 21:30. Walked into to find the 2 staff shaking their heads at us. Turned out they didn’t want our money despite our booking. Told us they were closed. Weird considering the financial difficulties they are in. So spent our money at Rudy’s instead. Was fantastic by the way.

It took almost an hour to get drinks and an hour and twenty minutes to get cold food. The second server was attentive but overall it was a massive disappointment. Definitely won't be going back.

Unfortunately frustrating experience for somebody with allergies. The servers couldn't offer recommendations, I was left to trawl through an allergen matrix ingredient-by-ingredient (or at least, trying to work out what was in each item). It seems the information was out of date as when I came to order, I was told I couldn't have what I wanted in a rather blunt way after studying this matrix for 5-10 mins, with again, a lack of recommendations, leaving me quite on the spot with a frustrated looking server. I can't help if info is seemingly too vague or out of date. I was checked up on a few times during the ordering process, getting explanations on how the kitchen works, but it never really felt like the delivery of the information had my experience or needs at the heart of it and felt largely like the covering of backs in the midst of an outdated process. For the price of the place, I expect more in terms of mitigating risks, rather than just being asked if I am okay with traces being present - which is a rather bizarre way of phrasing, as I was left unsure what they were going to do in terms of ensuring I wouldn't indeed have an allergic reaction - it felt more like my risk eating here than being ensured they were doing everything possible. Far more other restaurants are getting up to speed with allergen accommodations while this one falls behind. To be constructive in my feedback, I'd much prefer a text breakdown of each menu item which clarifies where allergens lie in each component, and allow me to ask what I can substitute from there, rather than having to break everything down myself and assemble the burger in my mind and have to go through about 5 conversations before the food hits my table. Food is good if you're hungry; but mainly just lathering everything in sauce to cover up a lack of seasoning. Atmosphere is rather overcrowded which very obviously frustrates staff as they can never give a specific area of the restaurant the needed attention, leading to a rather chaotic experience.

Used to love this place but since its been taken over, not impressed. Don't know if they've changed the veggie burger patty but its not great, veggie options seem less than before, much better options from the supermarket so may as well stay home and cook myself!

Had a visit and loved it...great burger and fantastic milkshake...liked how an order of chips came with regular potatoes and half sweet potatoes so wife and I shared as we both had our favourite type. Service was good...really enjoyed our visit.

Best Burger ever. The Triple Nom was absolutely wonderful, I enjoyed it so much that we went there back for lunch the next day. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. I strongly recommend for anyone visiting Manchester.

Popped in on a late afternoon. Restaurant was quiet. Ordered the Almost Famous and fries. The burger was excellent and the fries were outstanding-perfectly cooked and with just the right amount of seasoning for me. Service was excellent-the lad was polite and attentive.

We haven't been for a while and this was our first visit in 12 months. The burger had a good flavour but was lukewarm & the bacon bacon fries were cold. Everyone in pur group said the same thing. Our server was lovely so no complaints there, but I wouldn't go back again after today, there are so many great food offerings in Manchester and the food here has definitely gone downhill.

50% off burgers in January, what's not to like about it. Went for the Awesome HQ and a sharer portion of the bacon bacon fries ( more than enough for 2 people). Seated, served and fed in no time too. Definitely worth a visit!

Speechless, came here with some old pals amidst the Europe tour and was incredibly impressed. Found a January deal where I got 50% off burgers and tasted easily top 3 burgers i’ve had in my life. As we all know I am a sucker for some good customer service and boy they didn’t let down. One of my pals had a nut allergy and the staff treated us with the utmost respect and diligence when helping us find a dish. Would more than recommend if you ever find yourself in the area.

I found a delicious handmade burger in the UK for the first time in a long time. It tastes American, but British in size. The patty was a little overcooked, so it lacked juice, but it was good enough, and the vegetables and other ingredients inside are fresh as well. Overall, the balance of the taste was excellent. The fries I ordered together were mixed with potatoes and sweet potatoes, so I had a quite interesting and different taste. Overall, it's a young-looking hip restaurant that offers quite satisfying burgers.

Fun branding, decent food and friendly service so an overall good experience What you see is what you get, not the most incredible burger and fries ever but it was tasty and filling and sometimes that’s all you need Mac and cheese balls we’re fire and would definitely recommend giving them a try Great location, nice outdoor seating and a fun vibe

My favourite burger joint in Manchester

Food was excellent, service was a little lacking. It's a rather small space but the atmosphere makes up for it. Overall we were satisfied with our meal, plus we got a free milkshake as we went there for a birthday.

Was recommended by a friend to come here as we were visiting Manchester. The burgers me and my girlfriend got were amazing. A great environment and very friendly staff.

I took 9 of my friends here after hearing good things about the restaurant. This is hands-down one of the best burger places I have ever eaten at, not least because of the top-tier service you receive. Special shoutout to Evie, who despite serving multiple 10-person groups that day was a delight to be served by. A credit to the business and to herself. Food was great, portions were good for the price, vibe was great and made even better by Evie and the other staff who just made it look effortless. Thank you!

We visit AF every year for our Manchester trip. It is hands down the best burger we have ever had, every time. The Xmas menu was lovely, we prefer the normal menu though. Always great portions and reasonably priced!! Mac balls are incredible and we tried Pho king tenders.. Wow so yummy. Thank you again for a great experience!

Tenía la intención de tener su hamburguesa festiva "Hijo de Cascanueces" de nuevo después de haberla disfrutado mucho hace un par de años. Estaba tan delicioso como recuerdo. Bonita empanada de salchicha espesa y grandes sabores de las salsas y la salchicha. Sin embargo, un par de quejas menores... Olvidaron los pepinillos que pedí, que no deberían haber sido difíciles de procesar, ya que solo pedí la hamburguesa. Y mi cerdo en manta era más como un cerdo fuera de la manta. Tuve una queja similar sobre eso cuando lo revisé la última vez. Estas cosas estaban lejos de arruinar mi experiencia, pero muestran pequeñas áreas de mejora. El personal era agradable como de costumbre y AF sigue siendo mi opción - para grandes hamburguesas.

Are these the best burgers in all of Manchester? I don't know, I haven't eaten all the burgers in Manchester, but having dined at Almost Famous NQ yesterday evening I can say it's very hard for me to believe that they're not! Absolutely beautiful, and the staff were awesome and looked after us well. Highly recommended!

Really great burgers and great service. But very load and noicy.

Not local, popped in for an evening meal given it was near our hotel but it was a standout experience for us. The service was spot on. We had Sufyan as our server and he didn't disappoint, going as far as to say that we could happily customise the items to our liking. Extra onions and pickles, no extra charge. Food was worth the price, the burgers were really tasty and the portion of fries were perfect for 2 to share. It was late on and quiet night but they still took the time to chat and engage with us in conversation rather than just rushing a close and going home. 100% recommend giving the place a visit! (Forgot to take a photo of the food, but the presentation was great.)

'Almost Famous' was an incredible experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, with a fun vibe that made it easy to relax and enjoy our meal. The staff were attentive and friendly, checking in at just the right moments without being overbearing. The burgers were absolutely phenomenal! Thick, juicy patties cooked to perfection that added a burst of flavor. You could really taste the quality, and the creative combinations were simply delicious. A special shoutout to Harry, who was the absolute best. He went out of his way to make sure we felt welcome, offering great recommendations and really enhancing our experience. If you’re looking for a place that serves amazing food in a great atmosphere, 'Almost Famous' is the spot. I can't recommend it enough! We ordered the Kids in America burger, a Butter Blood Bleu burger, supersized Bacon Bacon fries, and Blasts chicken with BBQ sauce plus the biscoff snickerdoodle milkshakes.

American here. The Burger was fine but nothing life changing. The fries are terrible and the bill includes a service charge for already overpriced food.

Worst fried chicken burned. Fries were moist and oily, I liked the Mac and cheese balls.

Late night eating after a night out on the town food was excellent

So I was advised to look up Almost Famous if ever in Manchester. My son's open day at the University provided the perfect opportunity. On arrival the location was busy with a half hour wait. The front of door staff took my number and advised us a text message would be received when table free. Sure enough as we browsed local shops I received the text. We returned and were taken immediately to our table. Our friendly waitress soon took our drinks and food orders. My son opted for the Triplenom (double cheeseburger, slow cooked pork, BBQ) and me the Unabombe, unique to the restaurant (double cheeseburger, chorizo, jalapenos). We both ordered a portion of winning fries with sauces. Food arrived shortly after and omg this was amazing. Burgers were cooked perfectly, juicy, full of flavour in fact with their unique accompaniments they were the best I've ever eaten. Fries were good too but perhaps one portion would have been enough for us both (we struggled after demolishing the burgers). The food was good value and well worth it. Service included in the bill but I have no issue with this in fact I tipped additionally due to the quality of food. Five-star experience only marked the atmosphere down due to time of day, could imagine this place bouncing in the evenings. Well done AFNQ.

Cerveza, hamburguesas y patatas fritas. Qué más podrías querer. Bien hecho al equipo de la AF esa tarde.

Good burger but I wasn't wowed. Couldn't taste any blue cheese in the blue cheese option unfortunately.

I visited Almost Famous for the first time yesterday. The food was gorgeous and staff very friendly indeed, they couldn't do enough for you.

Sat down outside, acknowledged the waitress so she saw us.... Waited a few mins so went and got our own menus. Then waited a further 10-12 mins and nothing.. Gave up.

The service and atmosphere were excellent. we were seated quickly, and we received a warm, friendly welcome. Food was good overall. The burger had a great flavor, though it was slightly soggy, and the fries were delicious. Be warned, the portions are generous—you could easily share one order of fries between two people! However, the price is the main reason I wouldn't return. For two burgers, two fries, a coke, and a house beer, the bill came to around £60. In Manchester, there are plenty of places offering great burgers for nearly half that price.

The burgers were fine but nothing special. The pizza fries were genuinely amazing. The service was atrocious, the restaurant wasn’t busy but we had to wait while all five staff started and finished a conversation for a good five minutes before seating us. The service was moody and surly like they were really doing us a favour taking our order and bringing food. Five guys burgers are better, cheaper and the service is a lot friendlier too.

Really enjoyed the burgers here. Tasty and well made. Pleasantly surprised with how good the burgers were. We had the lunchtime deal and it was good value for money. Service was spot on too!

Pudimos sentarnos afuera debido al clima que era tan agradable, y había muchos asientos disponibles. Para ordenar, tuvimos que entrar en lugar de ser servicio de mesa. Yo tenía la 'Triple Nom' y mi novio tenía la 'Mantequilla, sangre y azul' - también decidimos compartir las papas fritas Phoenix. La comida era muy sabrosa y muy llena. Lo único que sentí fue que el bollo de la hamburguesa era demasiado dulce. Yo diría que era bastante caro para algunas hamburguesas y una porción de papas fritas, sin embargo todo estaba muy sabroso y probablemente volveríamos en el futuro, ya que era tan bueno
