Allports Fish & Chips in Gwynedd

Food was rotten and staff couldney be arsed being there and charged £5 for 1 small bit of chicken and we spent £65.78 for food to be horrible do not recommend going there cuz I won’t food was also greasy and got outlet order wrong so I didint eat the burger

Called into Pwllheli this afternoon for some fish and chips,and left full after delicious meal and simply outstanding service by the young crew members. They could not have provided better attention than they gave us. What a delight to be attended to by such a polite trio. We can be classified as grumpy old gits so not easily impressed ... but we were today. So a big thankyou guys be proud of yourselves for making such a positive impression on us three. Haddock was beautiful and chips were crisp, all fresh and perfectly cooked. Curry sauce was lovely. Staff were warm and friendly, very quick service. Excellent, just what was needed!

Visited three times whilst in pwhelli, the fish and chips are out of this world, maybe a little pricey but worth every penny. Staff were polite and efficient shop was very clean and always lots of people waiting to be served especially the locals so if you are in the area give them a try you won't be disappointed.

Waw, need a magnifying glass, the small fish and chips was much smaller than it used to be, and had to pay £1:45 for a portion of peas, disgusting prices, the tiny piece of fish was about 3 in’s long, never going there again, shop elsewhere,

Only had two portions of chips and have to be the WORST I've ever had ANYWHERE, absolutely disgusting. Must of been cooked ten times, was very hard and airy and loads of potato skin still on them. This isn't the first time either, been like this on many occasions. I only go here when there's no parking or it's busy in the town's other chippy Arvonia which is much nicer. With the cost of chips these days due to cost of living etc I understand that costs have to be higher but it's no excuse for standards to drop so much. Never will we return again. My advice to everyone AVOID!!!!

Good food. Only ordered a portion of chips but had to wait 15 minutes for that. Then told "can't eat takeaway food in the cafe seating" when maybe 2 of 20 tables had people on, no wonder it was so quiet on a sunny Sunday afternoon!

Nice chippy, ate in the cafe which was nice and clean, they allowed dogs inside too. Good sized adult portions not over faced, good sized kids potions too. The fish had crispy batter and the chips were lovely and fresh. Food was spot on!

Had lunch here while on holiday in the area, and it was all excellent- fish tasted really fresh as did the scampi. Lovely crisp chips too. Cheerful friendly service and food arrived very quickly. Good value too - will likely be back again.

I got a take out from the Phwelli shop last night on the last night of our holiday and ordered a made to order chicken curry and rice, got it back ate half and found a medium sized chicken bone in it, was too far away to take it back but very unhappy with this as could of choked on it as it was quite large in size. Noticed the staff didn't have any hair nets on or hair tied back as well. Shame as apparently it's award winning.

Too many inexperienced staff tonight - Food has to be absolutely spot on when charging incredible high prices - Noticed customer numbers dropped - not surprised

Allports used to be the best fish and chips, after a disappointing visit a year ago when we found their prices had gone up massively and quality very much down, sadly the price remains very high and quality far removed from previous high. Chips mostly consisted of v small fragments, hardly any proper chips. The cod portions were thin and small, did not touch any side of the box, I can’t normally eat a ‘normal’ portion of fish (from chip shop) but entirely ate this one and was still hungry. We live locally and are very unlikely return, cost £28 for 2

My wife and daughter Asked for two fish and chips and two cans of coke couldn’t believe they changed just under £40 absolutely disgusting, stay clear rip off, and to make it worse it wasn’t even nice, we phoned the Pwllheli shop and they said that the price was right, £39.40 😱

Simply the most amazing fish and chips, cod was really fresh and the chips cooked to perfection. Sooo tasty 💕 Yes there was a wait but it’s all cooked fresh to order. Lovely friendly service and would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

We visited the new Criccieth chip shop - the tastiest chips around! It’s a tradition to visit Allports every time we visit North Wales. Very friendly staff too 😄 Thank you Tom!

Just been given a tiny chicken thigh and chips with curry sauxe. Served by a young man…..£8.95!!!!! Terrible value!!! Used to be the best…… will not go again!!!!

Best Fish and Chips I've had in a long, long time.

Seen this had great reviews so Gave it a go. Food is nice all-round and would go back again. Nice simple food that hits the spot , curry sauce is nice but the mushy peas needed some salt. Kids enjoyed the burger and wanted to go back next day for another . Prices are moderate to high but whilst on holiday you have to pay these prices .

I have always received great service and delicious hot food. As I live not far I haven't had a need to eat in, but what I have seen going into the seating area looked very well prepared & presented. I will definitely be purchasing from Allports again.

We visited Pwllheli today and decided to have fish and chips for lunch. Allports did not disappoint. The food was fantastic. And two very happy pooches too. Will definitely be back.

Really pleased to find such fantastic chips at the end of a lovely day on the Llyn Peninsula. We had two large portions of chips to take away, they were perfectly done, plus baked beans and spicy curry sauce, between three adults, and were well fed. Worth the wait and staff were getting through the queue as quick as they could and cheerfully.

We nipped in for Fish and chips earlier and they were excellent. Customer service was very friendly and the shop looked nice and clean. I'm glad its not round the corner from me, i'd have a weight problem in no time! From 3 Happy campers :)

These are such amazing chips that we took a big detour on our journey home to have them again before we left from our holiday!! Highly recommend.

Service is RUBBISH Do yourself a favour Drive to Criccith Get served at the Castle Drive back and save yourself half an hour!

Wife ordered pie and chips, pie was cold, told the server. Cook came back with thermometer in pie, refused to acknowledge there's a problem. Really poor attitude to customer service. Would not recommend it to anyone. Look elsewhere is my advice.

The service was good. Food was good quality but the portion was pitiful. We 'as 2 adults and child' came away still feeling hungry for what we paid. It was like having 3 kids meals when in reality we ordered 2 adults meals and 1 kids. Plus we never got the ice cream that came with the kids meals. There is more value for money at other seaside towns in North wales inc llandudno and conwy. Why can't they put chips on the plate instead of in a metal bucket. It's not a Michelin restaurant. It serves fish and chips!!

Worst Fish and Chip shop in Wales I would say !! Staff very arrogant and rude really felt like they could not be bothered with any type of complaint or deal with criticism regarding there food ?? Chips swimming in oil and the batter on the fish soggy and very chewy in places had to head back to the caravan for a shower and brush my teeth after this experience, It says a lot when you put it down on the wall and the seagulls stay clear of it. I would not advise anyone try this establishment from our experience I really don’t get some of the positive reviews we must of been on the wrong time of year or day maybe (not)

We came as a family of 12 and wanted to eat inside. 9 of our family could be seated and we were told there was no more room inside.. fine..So myself, my husband and 2 year old got a takeaway from there to sit and wait for the others and eat outside. My two other children were inside with grandparents etc, We got our food, sat down to eat then we’re asked to leave the outdoor sitting area by a young man working there. We were told we were not allowed to eat our food as we had a takeaway…I think someone with more brain cells needs to wait on, the food was great and we spent a considerable amount, But ourselves and other customers outside thought it was very disgraceful, unprofessional and totally unacceptable making us leave given that there was 9 other family members inside. It was made clear we were all together and that we had tried to all be sat inside. My husband offered to pay the VAT to be seated outside…No excuse, just terrible customer service. Food 5*, Service less than 1* if that was possible.

We visited on the advice of trip advisor reviews. To say the least, we were very impressed. Que was out the door, which tells its own story. Large que must mean great quality. As said before, quality and portion size and prices were just beyond expectation. Staff friendly and apologetic for the time it took to be served. Chips were fresh and fish was lovely. Kids enjoyed their meals, all eaten up and none to waste. Located near the centre and by the carpark. Also noted there was indoor seating.

Stopped off here today 15th Aug, for lunch. We both had the small haddock meal. Food was excellent, served very quickly, staff very friendly and delivered 1st class service. Highly recommended.

Vastly over priced I'd hate to see the small cod if that was a large, staff need extra training i.e. it's rude to stare and play whispers (the women with bleached hair)

The waitresses could do with some training in customer services. They were very miserable, considering how expensive it is to eat there. Won't be returning.

Went here for takeaway fish and chips while working in Pwllheli. Had to wait 30 minutes to be served. The fish and chips was swimming in oil" and could hardly eat it. Probably the worst fish and chips I've ever had. Please avoid people.

Really pleased to see the restaurant open again. We went on day 1 and we were not disappointed. Food was delicious and well presented. Very varied menu catering for all tastes and good value. Finlay and Alysha did a fabulous job on their first day, thank you for being so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back soon.

Went twice whilst staying at haven. Things missing from both orders when I got back to caravan. Obviously too far to go back. Annoying when you’ve paid for it. Must be really difficult to pack an order whilst reading off a receipt I guess….

Best in the area, usually better to order on line though as queues can be large.

Well for starters anyone reading this review please ignore all the negative reviews from people who were looking Michelin star food from a fish n chip shop …… the food in this place was top class I love a good fish n chip and this has been the best I’ve had so far and even the chicken my kids had was lovely too along with good chips …… it is a little on the expensive side but I don’t mind paying if the foods good definitively they get 5 stars from me ……. I’ll definitely be back again 👍👍

Website said closed but was in Pwllheli walking my dog and got a smell and was actually open on a Monday. Large cod and chips, cooked fresh without much of a wait, was absolutely lovely couldn't fault it at all. Great portion and very responsibly priced for a fish that large. Staff were really welcoming and friendly.

Great fish & chips always get them from here as a treat when I'm down in Pwllheli & eat them on the beach near the marina 🥰

Usually go to Arvonia chippy in Pwllheli. Tried Allports for a change. Paid for one large fish and small chips. Got small chips and even smaller fish. Not cooked to order, almost cold and very flat fish. Very disappointed. Some chewy bits inedible. Expensive and poor quality. Staff friendly but will not be returning.
