Great experience from the outset; service, freshness, personal touch, all excellent. I really can't recommend Alley Cats highly enough.

I have been buying sandwiches from Alley Cats since they first opened in 1986 and the quality of the food and the customer service has always been fabulous. This is a great family run business and I would not go anywhere else. Highly recommended ..!

I visited today on business and wanted to have full English whilst getting my laptop out to do some work so needed a decent size table The cafe was totally empty, I was rudely asked to move to a small table The staff here are rude and I’ve never Went to a cafe around the corner half the price and nice people

Popped in for bite for lunch as I was passing by and liked the look of the place. It was really quaint inside and I got such a friendly service. Food was good, wasn't expecting my roast potatoes inside my pork sandwich but that's the difference you get when visiting different areas of the country, was very tasty tho.

I honestly have no words to describe how beautiful my daughters wedding was .... Nigel and his amazing team from Alleycats did everything to perfection ... the room looked stunning ... the food was amazing ... every guest has said how beautiful the food was ..huge servings and piping hot ... deserts and evening buffet again absolutely beautiful... the staff where fab nothing was any trouble from the initial enquiry about the wedding to the day after when I collected all our bits and bobs this team where just the best. Thankyou doesn’t seem enough but from the bottom of my heart I will never ever forget what you all did to make this day so special

There is always a tempting choice of food on the daily menu and a choice of roast meat. .I particularly like the fish cakes and chunky chips, delicious toasties and jacket potatoes but have worked my way through the menu and would recommend everything. .Nigel, the owner also offers outside catering. If you don't have the time to sit down, the deli counter offers a wonderful array of fillings for sandwiches and salads. Just remember, the restaurant is used mainly by local office and business people and closes about two o'clock.

Called in for brunch and chose the all day breakfast with tea. Good table service and staff were pleasant. You order at your table and they deliver; and then you pay at the cash desk on the way out. There is also a takeaway option. The meal was cooked just right and tasty. Tea came in a nice pot with all the trimmings. Sauces came in little pots. Slick, efficient and enjoyable.

While on a city break with a friend to Liverpool, we had caught the ferry across to Birkenhead and wanted to find somewhere for lunch. We can across Alley Cats and decided to try it. We were given a table, which was quite lucky as it was quite full. Orders were taken at the table, but there is counter service for take away options. The menu is fairly limited to breakfast/brunch style options but they do have specials and it was Chilli that day. My friend and I both had omelettes (you choose two fillings) with salad, coleslaw and chips. It was really well cooked and much bigger than expected. Also, the tea was really great.

The menu has a good range of food, and all of the food I have tried is OK. Prices are average. Staff are a little on the rude side, and the hot food isn't made from fresh ingredients. Nothing particularly wrong with this place, but nothing to write home about either. (Interesting to look at the reviews the it seemed to get a lot more five star reviews than it does now.)

If you are in Birkenhead and looking for somewhere for a light snack or meal this is the place to try. We found it by accident while looking for a coffee bar. Situated within walking distance of the town square. We did not have to wait long for our food and when it arrived was delicious and well presented. If you are hungry you might like to try a bin lid instead of a regular sandwich. A word of warning it could get busy so it might necessary to book at peak times. We would certainly go there again.

Been here a few times always a nice meal, breakfast is very very nice , bacon was very tasty as was the sausage came with toast coffee , beans tomatoes mushrooms, and a free coffee top up, will be back for sure

Came here today with my friend. Quick friendly service, asked to make a few changes to my breakfast which they were more than happy to do. Nice hot food that came quickly, would return :)

Called in here today (13/02/18) with 3 other people. All we wanted was a drink, but were informed you couldn't order just drinks and had to have food. (First black mark) this is, after all, just a cafe. Having established this, we asked if we could have chips, but were told there had to be a purchase of "food" before they could let us have just a portion of chips. As we wanted a drink we looked at the menu and reluctantly decided on the toasted sandwiches. The menu for toasties stated they could be made up of any combination of the listed fillings and cost from £3,20. However, there was absolutely NO indication how many fillings this price included, and when I asked how many were included, instead of stating "Just One" I was curtly told that it was quite self explanatory and the waitress proceeded to state one thing whilst pointing at the menu showing nothing of the sort. We decided on one sausage, one bacon and one cheese and tomato. I was totally disgusted to find that Cheese and Tomato counts as TWO fillings and cost an extra 60p. The toasted sandwiches were well cooked and tasty, but I feel that the prices charged were city centre prices for a "boondocks" cafe. 9/10 for the quality of the food, but 3/10 for service and prices. Will never be going back there again. Maybe the empty tables should have been an indication of what was to come.

I'll be honest, the food is great! The prices are alright too hence not a 1 or 2 star review. Marked it down because I went there and wasn't allowed to sit on a 4 person table when they had loads of tables free. I wanted to have room to read a newspaper for 15 mins on lunch. Instead went to a nearby establishment who were happy to let 1 person sit on a 4 person table.

I went to Alley Cats on Monday with my niece ( who suffers dreadfully from anxiety) although I have used the sandwich service delivered to our office, it is a while since I have been in the shop. We were welcomed like old friends by Nigel. We stayed for coffee and biscuits, my niece loved it and didn’t want to rush off - This was a first as she usually finds visiting a coffee shop very stressful. The atmosphere is so friendly, staff are lovely. Couldn’t be better. Thank you

Visited today with two of my friends for lunch and the restaurant itself is lovely however the food is average and very over priced. Cajun chicken wrap and drink of cola £7.50???!!!!!!! The rest of the can of cola wasn't even served to me just a small glass of cola filled?!!

Always friendly, great menu choice, delicious tuna and mayonnaise salad sandwich, I heartily recommend.

A friend and I were exploring Birkenhead on a trip from Liverpool. Hamilton Square was beautiful but it was difficult to find a nice place for lunch. We came across Alley Cat by accident and were delighted with our "find". A very varied menu with lots of options for my vegetarian friend. Absolutely lovely and helpful staff! We will be calling again.

After finding the John Laird shut down we were heading to the Brass Balance for a spot of lunch when we spotted this place next door. One look through the doors of the Wetherspoons was enough to decide to come here instead and boy was it the right decision.

La comida es deliciosa y el personal es amable y me. Muy limpio y recomendaría un bocadillo aliado gatos cualquier día de la semana.

Visited here for the first time today, as my usual takeaway was closed. Wasn't disappointed, generous portions in accordance with the very reasonable prices, will definitely be returning.

Visited for brunch with the Mrs. I had a club sandwich and Mrs had a steak baguette. Both were well presented and tasted great. The decor off the cafe was very pleasant and the staff were lovely and very friendly. The prices were very reasonable to. Will definitely be back.

Lovely, friendly staff and delicious food. Prices were very reasonable and the toilets were spotless.I would recommend this to anyone using the ferry to visit the U Boat story to stop here for something to eat.

Went again today with my friend. Lovely warm greeting from staff. Time to sit down and look at the menu without being rushed. Choose Southern Fried Chicken in a wrap which was delicious. Stopped in for breakfast. Good meal slightly pricier than some places, but we enjoyed the food and quiet cafe setting.

Enjoyed a great fried breakfast which was super clean and oil free, nicely presented and was very well cooked. Coffee served in a pot which was really nice and made a change.Would happily return, Super clean and tidy inside and nicely done "shabby chic" style.Only comment is would have been nice to have the condiments already on the table.Deffo worth a visit.

Meet at Alleycats for lunch once every two months with my friend. Used to visit regurlarly when I was working. No matter when we go the staff are lovely, always give us a warm welcome, ask how we are etc. Leave us with the menu and give us time to choose. The food is always excellent, nicely cooked and presented. A lovely restaurant. Always clean and a lovely atmosphere. Staff are exceptional and many other restaurants could learn from Alleycats. Thank you and keep it up.

Instead of traditional cafe one gets waiter service. I only called in for a snack and a coffee but was pleasantly surprised with the layout and service. The atmosphere was good and it is nice for couples. one can choose from a full meal or just have a sandwich or snack. The prices are very competitive.They have got it covered. All the staff were nice and pleasant and it made for a lovely lunchtime break. I will certainly be visiting again.

I went with my Daughter and young Grandson for a snack.Plenty of choice on menu, good tasty food and value for money.It could do with a couple of high chairs for youngsters.Worth a visit though.

I attended a function that was catered by this company and although there was plenty of food, many people commented on how disappointed they were with the quality. Stale sandwiches amongst other things. Shame as I've heard great things.

Went for lunch with a friend who works in this part of town. Service excellent. Food excellent ,toilets clean.I had coffee and a toastie with salad friend had a glass of wine and a special from the board. Food was served quickly and pleasantly .Great for a lunchtime meal.

Called in for a snack early afternoon. We were asked if we wanted to eat in or take away, so we said 'eat in' and were told to find a table as menus were on all tables. We both chose Toasted Sandwiches but I had tea, my companion coffee. The drinks arrived in pots and the toasties were nicely pesented as open sandwiches with a triangle of toast each side plus some salad leaves. Flavoursome cheese and nicely 'tanned' toast. Service was quick, efficient and friendly, the food and drink good value.

We had travelled on the 'Ferry Cross The Mersey' to Birkenhead during our weekend stay in Liverpool and had walked 'inland', so we were ready for lunch.This was a charming, spacious and well-presented dining room, and the meals were excellent.A good choice of snacks, which all looked tempting.I had a bacon and onion omelette with chips, (were were probably the best I had tasted for a long time) and my wife had the Farmhouse Sausage & Caramelised Onion Served on a freshly baked Baguette with Sweet Chilli & Tomato Chutney ; which she said was delicious.Staff were friendly and efficient, and it appeared that the 'takeaway' service from the counter was very busy.All reasonably priced.It could be a regular it was not so far from home !

Great cafe in town. Amazing range of food, all at a good low cost. Constantly go there for the salad bar, top notch. They do outside catering too.
