Ali's in Wellingborough

Have been here for years and have never left a review. The food, the restaurant and the staff are amazing. Cannot fault this place. It is amazing and definitely a place to visit

Very disappointed, I would have rated it ZERO but it won't let me have had to put 1 spot, been going to Ali's for many years now, we had booked ahead so had a table. We sat down and had our Popadoms, waited for an while then our started come out, then we sat wait and waiting waited for approximately 1 1/2 hours for our main when asked we were told while ready shortly, waited and waited, nothing, asked again told it was ready, nothing came out, told him if it is ready make it a take away as been to long now, came back around 5 mins or so saying will be another 10-15 mins. Then to rub salt into the wounds a table that had ordered after ourselves got there food and we still had nothing, that was the last straw, we got up paid for what we had while being told our food was ready, said sorry you've had an hour and a half and not managed it so far so paid and left!! Will not be going back any time soon!!😡

I visited Ali’s to get myself a takeaway and as always the food was amazing. I’ve never had a lamb or chicken samosa like what this place serves. I had one of their recommended dishes from the menu and although the dish I had was a spicy one, you forget the spice because of all the incredible flavours going on in the dish. Service was fantastic while I chose and waited and in particular very friendly and welcoming Raj. By far my favourite Indian restaurant

Found this on trip advisor and booked based on menu choices and previous reviews. I would rank the food as amongst the best I have had. Simple as that. Delicious and a chateauneuf du pape at £30. Don’t be put off by the outside surroundings.

What a wonderful place to go for a meal. The food was amazing, fresh, tasty and the service is top notch. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Best experience I’ve had in a long while. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend this restaurant 5stars from us

The food was delicious and fresh and the service was perfect . Poppadoms 10 out of 1 onion bhaji delicious samosas lovely chicken bhuna spot on rice fluffy and just right Thank you we shall return .

Ordered a carryout : Absolutely the best Indian restaurant in Wellingborough and the staff are so friendly and kind. We had Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi and Chicken Tikka Madras, the flavours were so delicately balanced and fresh with lots of meat and the Jalfrezi was packed full of beautifully soft vegetables as well. Will be back again very soon for sure. Thank you for a wonderful meal and for being so lovely to talk to while waiting for our meal to take away. 5*****

Ordered a take away and for the 3rd time had to cancel for it being over 45 mins late, waiter on the phone didn't care, definitely won't be using again and definitely won't be recommending to anyone else

It was our first visit to Ali's, went with friends who recommended it. Lovely food, great service will definitely go again or order takeout.

The service was amazing and even lent me some reading glasses as I forgot mine. The food was amazing and it wasn't over priced. Looking forward to going back.

Our first time visiting and we weren't disappointed. Staff were very attentive and friendly. We ordered a range of starters that were all well cooked and totally delicious,as was the main meal. The food was reasonably priced with decent sized portions. We will definately visit again.

We rang the restaurant the day before to enquire about my wife's dietary needs as she is vegan and wheat intolerant. The person on the phone said something along the lines of “what ever she would like to eat; we can make it for her”. We then booked the restaurant. We went the next day, explained to our waiter that this is what was said. The reply was no they cannot make the onion bhajis vegan and wheat free as the mixutre had already been made. Our waiter was good and offered an alternative of veg chat without puree and with a poppadom instead. It was spicy but no sweet and sour taste. The shish kebab was lovely and tender and tasty The mains were catered for my wife’s dietary needs which was really appreciated. We could not fault our waiter at all. My wife had the Tikka dall and spinach with lemon rice. I had the north chilli chicken with keema rice, very spicy. We even had to take doggy bags home. Good portions

This is our go-to restaurant for delivered Indian food. We had yet another superb meal last night. Delivered quicker than expected and all four dishes were fab. The Khanshama Chicken Jholl was a new one to me and I'll have it again for sure! Thanks guys, keep up the good work!

Just Great !! The staff are extremely friendly in this very well family restaurant. There is a wide choice on the menu. I am sixty one years old, I have travelled throughout the UK and I can honestly say it's the best Indian food I have eaten. Well Done to the team at Ali's!

Food was excellent been 3 times in a week. Been to alot of Indians in brick Lane in London an the food here matches the best in London. Would recomend a visit to this place

Ordered from here many of times and never had an issue however with it being New Year’s Eve and having the family come round, we thought we would order a takeout. Waited 1 hour and 40 minutes for our order to arrive, which was ok as it was a busy period, however an item was missing. Someone’s main meal which I wasn’t going to let go. When I rang the restaurant to inform them, they were the least bit helpful. Indirectly calling me a liar and wouldn’t let me get a word in edge, which led me to hang up. The restaurant then rang me back and informed me a replacement missing meal was on the way. Waited 15 minutes to find they’d sent another wrong dish. I wasn’t wasting my time anymore. I won’t be ordering from this restaurant again. Happy new year, you’ve lost custom!

Called to order a large number of meals for a special birthday celebration and received the most appalling attitude when asked if they could throw in some poppadoms. I was told "we don't give free poppadoms and we are busy so we don't actually need your order". Absolutely gobsmacked!! Not at the lack of free poppadoms but at the disgusting attitude! How lucky for them that they are happy to turn away business in this current climate!!!! This business has lost a lot of customers tonight as there were a lot of people in the family ready to place their order!!!!

Visited as a group of 4 in September and all of us had really good food with pleasant, attentive service. Went here on the back of Tripadvisor reviews as we aren’t from the area and we weren’t disappointed.

Far too much focus on the takeaway delivery side of the business and not enough of customers dining in. Coming to take orders and serving food took ages. The manager guy was on the phone all the time… the waiter had poor English and the delivery driver was in and out like a yo-yo. Sadly the food was average too.

Placed an order online at about 17.50 hours, one our thirty minutes for delivery they said, ok longer than we wanted but went for it, after over three hours about 21.30 and several phone calls it arrived. Food was as good as always but will never order a home delivery again.So so disappointed, ruined our evening

Had a takeaway last night, arrived within specified time. Food was nice, only let down was no King Prawns in Lal Mas Jhinga special, at £12.95 for this dish you would expect them not to be missing.

Excellent spot. First time visiting Ali’s and great spot. The food was delicious and service was fab! Welcomed by the staff when we entered and they were all abiding by the Covid rules. We were guided to our table...and had a great evening. Extensive menu with lots of choice and tasty Kingfisher beer which is the perfect partner for curry.Highly recommend!

Delicious takeout. Tried the Mumbai Massala; a spicy creamy, coconut curry - lovely. The pakora, tikka massala and everything was very tasty. Would highly recommend.

Great Indian! I had a chicken Rogan which was delicious, lovely sauce and the chicken was moist. The onion bhajis were the best onion bhajis I’ve had in a long time too! Really enjoyed it.

Restaurant and takeaway experiences always faultless in our experience. Takeaway phone staff are extremely courteous always. I am hugely impressed by this level of customer service anywhere, it’s rare to find, and exactly how it should be everywhere. As a vegetarian I can only comment on the meat free options, plus I tend to only ever have the Pasanda (almond, cream, cashews, coconut milk, vegetables like potatoes, broccoli, carrots, etc and milder than Korma) which is lovely.

The food is absolutely divine always, whether you eat in or have a delivery, the service is excellent, and I always feel welcome and appreciated. It's my favourite restaurant by a mile. Just got home with the family feeling very satisfied in every way.

In town for one night and was looking forward to a decent meal after seeing the reviews and 4 star rating. the competition can't be great in town as the food was ok but nothing special and the restaurant was in a run down area of town and in need of renovation. Ordered the chicken and paneer but as you can see from the picture it was more like grated cheese than paneer.

I have eaten from this restaurant on numerous occasions but this will be the last as the place has gone completely downhill. Long waits for food, food is bland when it does arrive. Manager is passive aggressive and has no customer service skills whatsoever. His behaviour is embarrassing and his staff had to apologise on his behalf.

I haven't been here for years but I am so glad i decided to give it another go as this time it was superb. I had the North Indian Chilli Garlic curry and it was sublime, with loads of perfectly cooked chicken tikka. The Saag aloo was also lovely so much flavour.

On arrival had to wait to be welcomed. The waiting was up to ten mins, as the staff were chatting behind the bar and did not seem interested. We were then sat down- again another long wait til we received the menus. When we ordered the staff were so rude. The manager himself was disgraceful could hear on the phone him swearing to someone. We were visiting this area and fancied a nice indian. However massively disappointed. Please do not waste your time and money you would be better going to a take away or a chicken house and getting better value for money and customer service. And the starters and mains were extremely bland and no flavour asked for extra spicy which they were clearly unable to do. Never again would I step into this eating place not good enough to be called a restaurant. The manager, owner should visit an Indian restaurant and they might realise why they are failing.

Starters, main, company and drinks. The starters were amazing, you could not fault them, possibly the best samosas I have had. Loads of tandoor, naan and the flavors are amazing. The staff really made this an enjoyable evening. We look forward to coming back.

Omg I ordered a take away from this place it cam pretty nearly 2 hours after ordering and it was that dissgusting I would nt even give it to my dog. Absolutely dissgusting..! Avoid

Food was excellent. The staff could not have been more accommodating in assisting one of our party with special dietary requirements. We could not have had a better meal. Definitely the best curry house in Wellingborough and so far the best I have eaten at in the county. If I could give six stars I would.

We went here for a social visit whilst working away. I had the mixed grill starter which was excellent. Generous portions of each meat, served on a sizzler with onions and a side salad with lemon wedge etc. There was no fat on any of the meat, all piping hot with a nice kick to it. For the main I had a lamb tikka madrass, with pilau rice and a cheese, chilli garlic naan. The naan bread was extremely tasty with fresh green chilling melted into the cheese, and a light pasting on garlic. The main dish was 1 of the best curries I have eaten in this country. A nice thick consistency, lots of meat and a very nice kick to the dish. All in all this was a very enjoyable meal. The staff were also very helpful and polite. Thanks Ali's, keep up the good work.

Have visited numerous times and never let down on quality or volume of food. Service friendly and wouldn’t hesitate in returning.

I am in Wellingborough doing a course. I was recommended this place by a local Bobby. Wow I had an amazing meal. Mixed kebab is to die for. Coupled with the fantastic food the staff are just so lovely. Hope I get the chance to return one day. Highly recommended. Ps I only put positive genuine reviews on TA.

Well! If you like Indian Cuisine, you cannot go wrong visiting Ali's. This amazing restaurant is just overflowing with tasty, succulent, flavoursome meals that cater for all levels of spicyness and heat levels.From your mild Biryanis to your full on Volcanic mouth burners,lol.The service is impeccable, attentive but not intrusive. Pricing is very good considering the quality of the food. By, far in my humble opinion, the best in the county. Venture forth and be satiated with delight.

Prompt friendly service. The food was very good, the portions were a decent size. There is a wide variety of meals, varying in spice strength. I don't have much of a tongue for highly spiced food, but I found their Tandoori Salmon gorgeous.

Hadn’t booked but fancied a curry somewhere different. Not a busy night out locally in restaurants but there was a few people in this one so decided to go in. Glad we did. Staff were very professional and friendly. We had starters of mixed seafood stuffed pepper which was delicious and a satay Chicken which was also good. Mains were king prawn shaslick and a murg sagwala paneer which were both very well presented and very tasty. We followed this with coconut ice cream and a complimentary baileys. Total bill with 2 large red wines and 2 beers £69. Very good service, atmosphere, staff and food. We will definitely recommend to friends and be back!

I visited Ali's with my family a while back, and they have never been to a proper Indian restaurant before. Fortunately, Ali's offered such a wide range of dishes, all of them excellently cooked, that they all found something to enjoy, and even I found something new to try as well!

Visited Ali’s recently for a family meal. Having never been before, thought it was a good opportunity to visit especially as there isn’t many Indian restaurants in the town.

Great service, nice decor, with a lovely ambience and the food is simply gorgeous. The best Indian food I've had in a long time. I would definitely recommend.

Meet my friends from Earls Barton here once a month on a Monday. Being Monday its not that busy so the service is always very good and friendly. Being a group of lads we tend to always do the usual to many poppadum's, mixed Tikka starter and a hot curry and rice with saag and Bombay potatoes side. oh, and a range of naans for the curry sauce! They've got Cobra and Kingfisher in big bottles and draft. The food is always very tasty and of good quality in terms of the meats used. The bill is always around £20 a head which I don't think bad for all the food and drink we consume. will continue to go here for the foreseeable future. never had a bad one yet.

Had another fantastic family meal in Ali's the other night. Food and service were excellent. Can't wait until we can go again.

We’ve been coming to Ali’s for over 3 years now and the food has always been of a high standard, but I must say that the service has been consistently poor. Some of the waiters rush around and it creates an air of chaos. We were also sat right by the kitchen, which was disappointing.

we've been using Alis regularly for the last 18 months, unfortunately I think that is now going to change.

Out of the several “Indian” restaurants in Cambridge Street Ali’s has been one we have returned to mainly because of its * rating and the quality of the dishes. This hasn’t changed but the last three occasions the service has been VERY slow with no apparent reason other than the volume of deliveries for telephone orders.

My wife and I have a fantastic curry at Alis. My wife had the signature king prawn dish which was brilliant. The prawns were huge and the flavours of the sauce delicious. I usually have Chicken Dansak but opted for one of the chef's specialities and I wasn't disappointed. Very tasty, lots of different spices and pretty hot. Great dish. Good draught larger on tap. Friendly staff and great value. Well worth a try if you're in the area and like a good curry.

Been looking for an excuse to eat here for a while.. And finally got the chance, and it was worth...

We dress up and all our friends join us.... We have a party at Alis, (we aren't noisy!) and know we are going to enjoy the best food for miles. It may not look like a Million dollars down the street but worth knowing you are going to get tasty fresh food when you get inside. The variety of dishes means we know our friends and visitors who come from Down Under will enjoy the real experience of delicious dishes. Thanks Ali's !

The food here is fantastic, we have always had take always but decided to choose here for our daughters birthday meal as Ali's takeaway is her favourite - we weren't disappointed, food as always was fab and the service was just as good.

We felt this Restaurant was expensive and the interior is very dark. Plates were not collected and we had to pile them up as they were just left in front of us for what seemed an age. There was only 1 waiter and another appearing ad hoc working in what became a busy evening for them as the place filled up.

Quite possibly the most delicious Indian restaurant meal I have ever had. Utterly fantastic all round.

Had a fantastic family meal in Ali's the other night. Six of us in total, and all happy. Service was a little slow due to a shortage of staff but, 'Mr Ali' came to the rescue with some interesting free starters. Have been using Ali's for years and am happy to recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent Indian meal

Ali's is one of the best Indian restaurants I've found. The service is friendly and portions very good. The restaurant is comfortable and well presented. For take away service they have an extensive menu and can take payment over the phone. Great food!

The food here is really very good - but the exciting thing is that if ordered in advance Ali will have home-style Indian food prepared for you.This is a great place - friendly service - and knowing the hygiene is of the highest level gives great confidence.

We always go to Ali's for birthday celebrations and are never disappointed. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very helpful when it comes to navigating the very interesting menu here.Plenty of choice above and beyond the standard curry-house fare; there is a willingness to please and a reliability of quality that always thrills the palate.Plenty of other places to get a curry in Wellingborough. You won't do better than Ali's though!

My family and I visited the restaurant on a Saturday in January and were amazed at how busy it was; a lot of restaurants in Wellingborough can be half empty but this was packed! I would definitely recommend booking a table in advance. This restaurant is quite small but can accommodate larger group bookings as there were a couple of larger tables there when we visited. The food here is simply fantastic. The menu offers a lot of dishes that are not typically available in an Indian restaurant. I had the tandoori salmon which was delicious! The only reason that I haven't given this restaurant five stars is that I didn't enjoy the atmosphere in the restaurant. The music was on so loudly that it was like being inside a club and made conversation nigh on impossible. One couple near to the cd player asked for it to be turned down but as the music remained at a high level, they were evidently unsuccessful. The food is reasonably priced, we had 3 starters, 3 mains, 2 rice, 2 naan breads, poppadoms and several drinks and the bill came in at just under £80. Overall, I would say that I would definitely go back to the restaurant for the chef but not necessarily for the restaurant itself. You can order take aways from this place, so I think I will try that next time!

As far as Indian takeaways go this one is hard to beat. The food was absolutely superb. The delivery was quick and friendly. They even gave us free popadoms.

Surprisingly busy for midweek, the staff are friendly and the menu contains so many things I don't normally see on and Indian menu which is great. The lager is a little expensive but the food is reasonably prices to balance it out. Nice cutlery and tables and the mixed starter is top hole. All round lovely food and wouldn't hesitate to return here again any time. Some other similar establishments could hang their heads in shame against Ali's. Well done everyone. And thanks for the offer of Baileys at the end. I was driving so turned it down officer, honestly.

We used to go to the Akash, but since trying Ali's we almost exclusively go here instead. Only ordered a takeaway delivery once and wasn't too impressed. However, when we visit the restaurant the food is always excellent. We usually get a free drink after the meal as well, though not this time...

The restaurant is clean and staff are friendly food is good but if you don't book a table you will be waiting, food is good price but drinks are expensive which knocks the bill very high if not careful. It is however good service and food which has to be the case when the entire road is restaurants so well worth a visit.

Have been here a few times over the years and always get a good meal. They have some unusual dishes, I had a huge chicken breast stuffed with spinach and cheese with a spicy sauce and other half had meatballs which were also good. Good value on a Sunday as they do an offer.

It's funny when we first visited - at the end of the meal we would always be offered a free drink - that's all changed now - however the food is good and they will make you anything you require

Been going on our annual outing to Alis for about 5 years now and never had a bad experience. Love the food, staff are so friendly and welcoming and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. Not a massive place but we're normally a group of around 15 and they always make room and look after us well. In my opinion it's the best in Wellingborough, I even use it for takeaway now and it's superb.

This is the third time we have visited Ali's and we've always received good service. What we do particularly like is that they will adapt any dish to you'd taste (spicy / heat).In addition, if you struggle to eat it all they will happily pack your leftovers into takeaway tubs for you to go home with.Prices are very reasonable, service good and friendly staff.

The first time here I thought the food was good, service slow. We were persuaded to give it another go and now we are regulars and have almost tried everything on the menu. Cannot recommend this place enough friendly staff, quick and efficient but most of all GREAT food at reasonable prices.

Amazing, flavoursome food, I'd definitely recommend the cooked aubergine side. Although food is brilliant it can be a bit uncomfortable with the waiters constantly walking in and out of the kitchen watching you.

Lovely to visit again. Food perfect, best pickles, and range of food in Wellingborough coupled with friendly staff you can't go wrong. Highly recommend tandoori trout, keema rice and Alis shani korma, delicious.

I really regret writing a negative review on Trip Adviser when I had a meal at Ali's several months ago, I described the meal as "Terrible and bland", which it was. I now realise that this was a one off, because every time I have had a meal at Ali's since it has been the best. I can now put the records straight, and say that apart from that one meal, Ali's is definately the best Indian restaurant in Wellingborough!

I don't change where I go for a curry but was invited here with a group and this changed my mind. The dishes are served in a variety of signature styles. Obviously more thought has gone into these dishes compared to how you would expect. Great food.
