Ali's in Portsmouth

Absolutely disgraceful place, my daughter came into this place last night (Saturday 29th)and the guy she was served by was rude and disrespectful, she ordered a small wrap and he said oh I thought you would have a large 1 and he said would you like lettuce as you could do with it, my daughters weight is no concern of yours and this left her very upset 😡😡😡

What a great place, I don’t usually do burgers and chips, but the speed of service and friendly banter was superb!

Best service, very good quality, the staff are patient unlike others. And serve the best quality food. Excellent would recommend to anyone passing through

The meat for the kebab I ordered was taken out of the cold iron container and reheated, and the meat that was currently hanging was so soft that it was put into another container. Why do you do that? Am I not familiar with kebabs?

After months of walking past late at night, I finally bit the proverbial bullet early this morning on my way home from work and popped in for the first time. Couldn't fault it one bit. Food was great, hot and ready quickly and staff were polite and friendly. Will definitely use in the future.

Reasonable prices, large portions, lovely staff, make sure you stop by.

Came in a couple nights in a row with the missus. We were given complimentary chips in some tissue as our friend was waiting for their food. Second night in, some bald bloke at the counter is being a funny guy and the kebab was decent. Better than Kens.

Ali’s is a fantastic example of a local business that should be supported, being here for years for students going hungry on a night out, or just for a tasty lunch time meal for locals. After months of coming to Ali’s I have never once had an issue. Ali himself works almost 7 days a week ensuring his food quality and time efficiency is at its best for customers. Came her tonight, it is advertised that chips, chicken Donner and a drink is 9.20. I ended up paying 11.90 and only received the chips and chicken kebab. I was then told that I didn’t not ask for the drink when I clearly did. This is terrible service I do not recommend coming here after a night out at all. Go to gida instead opposite dockyards

Kebab didnt smell right and didn't taste right now I see why there rating is so low...never again

Never eaten cardboard before but zero flavour to the meat at all and reminds me of that and terribly watery also flavourless garlic mayo hyped up with a tiny slither of grated carrots but ruined by everything else. Pitta not that nice. Meat stone cold fresh off the hot plate. Sorry for such a poor review as I'm a kebab addict and very rarely experience such an experience like this. Maybe the low price of £6.90 reflects this Note to staff maybe a bit more seasoning to the meat? Maybe some extra care on quality of your sauces. Otherwise looked better than tasted

Popped in last night for the first time as fancied a late night kebab after the match. Good choice and prices, the kebabs were all very nice. Only criticism would be the chips seemed like they had been reheated after previously being cooked. The owner was really entertaining while we waited creating some humour and conversation.

I've been going to Ali's since I moved here in September. The staff are funny and lovely to talk to anytime I go in there to get food. The food I get from there is always on point and bloody tasty. Would recommend to anyone!

I will give zero rating to service and atmosphere. The floor was very dirty, spilled with oil and water. I slipped and fell on the ground. The staff said it might be because of my shoes and soon after that within a second another man fell on the ground, so is it my shoes or their management issue?. No cleanliness and poor management.

Honestly the worst kebab I have ever had in my life.. the meat was almost wet and tasteless and the portion size for a large chips was a joke. Avoid avoid avoid

Ordered a meat feast pizza waited 30 minutes for it and it was absolutely disgusting! Took 1 bite and threw it in the bin! Mates ordered kebabs and they didn't look appetising at all!! Only nice part were the chips and the staff were really friendly.

orderd today from thsi restaurants two chicken burgers and sald and 4 bottles of water just gt the burgers and water no salad not at all

Beyond a joke , was told half hour wait took over a hour , food finally arrived but luke warm , asked for lettuce and onion there was about 3 leafs of lettuce in total and barely any onion , if you wanna have your dinner ruined I highly recommend going here !

Staff were rude and grumpy. Me and my friend were told to move as a member of staff swept dirt out onto the pavement. We asked for 2 portions of chips and got laughed at! Wouldn’t recommend.

The worst place I’ve ever been too, me and my friends all got awful food poisoning to the point were I was in hospital Because I had gastritis, made us all So badly sick was throwing up all night, it also tasted horrible

Chips are really good at 3 am and a Fanta can and small portion was only £2.70 which was reasonable. I was sober when I ate them too ;)

Best kebabs around, we’re regular customers and he sometimes gives us a position of chips or drinks on the house as a good gesture, very nice guys. So far had the kebabs, chips and cheese sticks and they’re all yum

How IS it possible that a kebab like it exists. This isn't even kebab, it tastes like piece of pork/trash mixed thing. After eating it i was feeling like i'm not even alive. Good tastes rest in peace.

Kebab wasn’t great (to be polite). The meat had obviously been cut off from the spit before and was sitting on the grill for a while. Little cleaning/sanitisation methods in place, staff not wearing gloves either and the salad was uncovered. £6.90 for a large chicken kebab was quite expensive given the quality of the end product. Staff were grumpy and the old guy made another member of staff sweep chips from the shop floor straight onto the pavement and was quite aggressive. Judging from the other reviews and my own experience I won’t be returning. I should have checked the reviews before going there. There’s another kebab shop 5 minutes further south, near Astoria and Mr Miyagis, which had a queue, even at 2am. This will be the one I use in the future.

Disgusting! Owner was so unprofessional and rude! Bought a meal deal however he provided us with half the meal and when confronted was so arrogant. They have no covid measures in place. Staff was coughing around with no mask or gloves around the food. In addition food was revolting. Don't waste money going to this mess.

Very good food and very quick delivery, the staff members are polite and very efficient at what they do! I always leave this place satisfied! It’s also a great (if not the best) option after a night off clubbing! Would definitely recommend, five stars!

Lovely owner and place. It is nicely located between the Astoria, Zanzi and Przym clubs near the Guildhall area in Portsmouth which adds easy convenience for late clubbers or anyone snacking near Guildhall. Ali's gives a real sense of community in my opinion and almost seems traditional for the Portsmouth nightlife culture. Its the best drunk food in town to be sure. Before I knew it existed I went to Kens after a nightout, heading home one night my mate who had a lot to drink decided to slap my Kens food out my hand proclaiming "Alis", ever since then it seems by the locals who go and myself to be a staple of the right food for a good night or at least a good ending to a bad one. Anyone who wants good late night experience should explore here especially if you enjoy the Portsmouth community and dont mind making a few new mates there and having drunken banter when its late. It also fairly priced to be honest when compared to whatever else is open last thing and as for quality definitely better in my experience to Kens or other places I hear people complaining late about.

Avoid this place like the plague. Overcharged me four times. When I rang up they said to come in which I did but they still refused to refund me. Oh well jokes on them because my bank repaid me the money and they can now have fun dealing with them 😡

Walked in and the staff were vexed and chasing someone out the door for money. When I got my chips the ketchup was pink and was that nasty it made me chunder. Wouldn’t recommend for food but the entertainment was good.

Frozen chips, plastic lettuce, fat pieces of onion, trash burger sauce and ripped bun but the entertainment was mad. 10/10 would recommend

this is by far the worst kebab I have ever had. i threw most of it away because it had no flavour and I lost my appetite . I was put off by the way the staff looked very unhygenic wiping the sweat of their heads and handing food. when I asked for sauce the poured what looked like coloured water over the meal flooding it (tasted foul) and diddnt bother draining the water out of the salad before chucking it on top. how this place is still open is shocking I will not be going there again.

Honestly not bad, it seems a lot of the staff are on edge, but they're nice.

Absolutely disgusting food, just ordered burger and chips and the burger was not even eatable like plastic will never order from here again!!

Upon entering "Ali's" we were met with an unenthusiastic inviting looking woman who looked as if she didn't want to be there. After ordering our food she demanded the money. Admittedly the food was fast but she did not even have the decency to bring the food over to us or cook it properly - instead she called out the food was ready from around the corner. We were surprised to find we have been given a plastic fork to eat with and that was it. No knife or napkin was even offered to us. How charming (!) Maybe it explains why the previous customer walked out without even saying a thank you or the fact that there was no one else at the kebab shop.

Fantastic drunk food. Open late, no more needs to be said.

Despite the slightly dank look the food I've had here has always been superb and the service friendly and efficient. Extremely good value for money as well!!
