We stopped here for an early lunch, as this was the only cafe open, but were not disappointed. I had the Ploughmans Lunch, that was excellent, my wife plumping for a jacket potato. We had an excellent coffee while waiting. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Well worth a visit.

Decided to treat ourselves after a dentist visit in Alford. Lovely selection for lunch, we chose the homemade soups, vegetable or tomato - one of each and they were delicious, together with a bacon bap each. Very filling and tasty, soups piping hot. Could not have asked for better on a cold January day. Cakes looked lovely but we were full up! Total £12 between us. Lovely, we will return. Thanks

I've been using Alford Deli off and on for years. The current management is the best, long may this last. I've lately been having the homemade soup and it is absolutely fabulous, hearty and tasty and very filling. Just what you need now winter is setting in. All the cakes and cheesecakes are homemade, variety changing regularly and what I have sampled so far have all been absolutely fabulous. Lovely to be able to sit outside on nice days as well.

We stopped here for a mid afternoon snack with our dog. The sandwiches I had were lovely as was the jacket potato my husband had. The cakes looked delicious, we had marmalade cake which was very yummy. We were given sliced sausage for our dog which was a kind thought. We also had our water bottle filled, again kind.

Today was our 2nd visit in the last couple of months & once again, we were warmly greeted by the owners. Our golden labrador was made welcome too & whilst being fussed by the lady owner, we were asked, like on our last visit, if she was allowed a sausage, which we agreed to much to our dog’s delight! Our order was taken & served within a short period of time. Both my husband’s sausage bap & my cheese & ham toasty were very tasty. Seeing the lovely cakes & cheesecakes which were on display, we both couldn’t resist ordering the lemon cake. We both agreed it was delicious & the best we’d tasted in a long while & when passing this onto the gentleman owner, he told us that his wife makes all the cakes & scones herself, on the premises. The lady owner appeared & so we told her how delicious it was & she thanked us & also said that they do ‘boxes’ so you can always take some home with you. This is something we’ll bear in mind as we’ll definitely be visiting again, As previously mentioned, the owners are very friendly & welcoming & the premises are exceptionally clean & comfortable so along with the delicious tasty food, why would we want to go anywhere else? Plus, we don’t think our dog will let us go past!

We called today in a village called Alford after walking around looking in the local shops we decided to stop for a cuppa and a sandwich and so went into this lovely little Deli Cafe it has seating outside as well for those that wanted to soak up the last of the years sunshine we ordered bacon and sausage roll for my hubby and bacon for me and I ask for it cremated as I hate fat on bacon so like it done really crispy and I ordered a pot of tea with an extra tea bag and my hubby a cappuccino the guy who runs it was so nice couldn't do enough to help I offered to pay extra for the extra tea bag which I have had to do on many occasions but he wouldn't hear of it when he brought us our sandwiches they were huge and my bacon was excellent which is very rarely the case and my husband's coffee was great and my tea was gorgeous lovely big cup and the pot did 2 cups was super impressed if we are ever over there again it will be our first stop Stirling job keep up the good work.

This is not a place I normally use in Alford for a cafe as have had bad experiences some years ago. It has a not unique selling point but a selling point that only one other cafe has in Alford, that of outside seating most of the time in the sun (if it's sunny of course). Today's visit was rather spontaneous as we were headed to The Cafe on The Cobbles which is overall our preferred cafe in the area. What attracted us to "The Deli" (which is a misnomer incidentally as it sells almost nothing you'd find in a good deli) was some attractive deals and the hot sunshine with the outdoor seating. We had: 2 (too large actually) filter coffees which although good were less than hot plus my wife had a toasted teacake and I 2 crumpets. All generously buttered and properly toasted. Nothing wrong with the food or the speed and delivery of service but, call me a snob, yes I know, but if I ran a public establishment whether a cafe, pub, bus, train, airport, motorway service area or whatever, I wouldn't presume that calling everyone "pal" was wise. I have quite a good friend who calls me "pal" and I barely find that OK so maybe it's me that has the problem? I do tend to use the friendly expression "mate" when dealing with say delivery drivers or the postman or similar but as an ambassador for one's restaurant using "pal" to every Tom Dick and Harry is taking a chance on someone taking offence. Other than that - on this visit 9 out of 10. Well done Alford Deli. Total cost £5

Called in here after seeing the nice cakes advertised in the window, cake & coffee/tea £2.50. I ordered coffee and salted caramel cake. I noticed that the owner took the cake out of a box which late saw while shopping in Lidle for £1.59, good profit they are making as my portion was only small. Was very disappointed the cakes weren't home made. Will try cafe across road next time as they have home made cranberry scones.

Looked great from the outside, but after walking in I was a little confused. This is not really a deli, there were no delicious meats or salads or pastries to tempt you in the two small refrigerated units at the counter. The many shelves had two or three jars of Chutney/mustard/jam, but it was nothing special and all from the same producer, where were the bottles of oils, vinegars and drinks or jars of olives, antipasti etcThe children had a sandwich and crisps, hubby and I had a ploughmans each. It was all ok. I didn't like the fact the milshakes we ordered came in Carlsberg glasses, but that's just meThe real problem was twofold a) they didn't take credit/debit cards, I feel these days it really has to be an option, especially when spending £25 and if not, it should be signed in the window really. b) the biggest problem was toilets, or lack of them. We were directed to public toilets in the public car park which was a couple of buildings away! This really is an issue for me, and something potential customers should be aware of!I think you need to drop 'deli' in the name and get some toilets.

We have attempted to use this venue frequently particularly as they have introduced outside seating. The food is pretty average but would be acceptable if the service and attitude was OK but it certainly isn't.Several times during normal advertised opening times we have found this café randomly closed or closed early. We have also entered some time before closing time and received a negative welcome and been advised that food would not be available etc.So without going into lots of detail this venue is unreliable. On one occasion the two waitresses were outside smoking whilst we waited at the counter for service!Pleasant to sit outside when possible but likely to close unexpectedly! Good luck!

I found this deli a lovely little place and I really loved its charming idyllic decor, I ordered a tea cake and a glass of lemonade, my mother and I were served very quickly and the food was delicious, I would also like to adress the politeness of the staff because they were extremely nice and attentive to me and my mother. Also I watched as they dealt with a very rude customer in an orderly manner even as the customer was becoming angry and ill tempered, I know from personal experience that being polite to people such as this can be quite difficult but they handled the situation in a more than satisfactory way. I will definitely be returning there again and will be reccomending it to others.

We visited Alford for a day out and for a change decided to treat the family to lunch, it looked busy and there seemed to be a good atmosphere so we thought we would try it . As it was busy we sat at a table that had just been vacated, a waitress then attempted to clear the table, this took 3 visits to the table and still managed to forget to wipe the crumbs and mess from it . Our drinks came first, the coffee was nice and fresh and very hot ( the highlight of the visit ) the lemonade came in a glass which looked dirty and had black bits floating in it , this was promptly exchanged for another. Our sandwiches came out quickly but were a real disappointment , the ham and cheese Panini was not a panini but a part cooked ciabatta obviously microwaved instead of crisped in the oven and subsequently had the texture of a bath sponge, the filling was not vary tasty and the salad was just a leaf of iceberg thrown on the plate with a slice of cucumber and tomato and a sachet of salad cream , this was plonked on the same un -wiped, crumb ridden table. My point is that I could ,and often do better sandwiches at home with more effort and for a fraction of the price , I think people expect more than that, especially from somewhere that claims to be a deli .

Unfortunately, the Dunes Complex is definitely not wheelchair friendly. There are disabled parking spaces in the car park. However, they were all taken, and some didn't have Blue Badges visible. Once in the Dunes Complex, there are 2 more ramps to consider, the 1st one is quite steep, and the 2nd one is less of a hassle. If a wheelchair user or someone who has mobility difficulties wanted to get to the stage, they would have to ask staff for a further ramp. To get onto the stage itself, well, there are narrow corridors that a wheelchair does not fit through, and there are no handles or any form of mobility aid.

Staying in Aby village for a week's holiday and had to try the local pub. Exterior looks a bit "tired" but don't be put off - inside it's friendly. cosy and lots of character. Excellent choices of dishes on the menu and "daily specials" board - we especially appreciated the choice of gluten-free options and Dawn was happy to go through each option in detail. Good portions and served hot! Very tasty and wholesome. Wide range of dessert options too and it was evident from conversations with other diners, that Dawn would also be happy to adapt these just to suit individual requirements. Obviously very deserving of the many awards over many years.
