Fantastic pub. So interesting and so much to see there. The venue itself is a work of art.

Very nice and cool pub. Didn't sell food on the day wr were there, maybe too early. Atmosphere was good and bar staff very friendly. Decorations were amazing.

Great pub , with great staff. The menu is pretty varied and the prices aren't too bad. But by far the best reason to visit is the interior which is so unique and you will keep seeing something different during your visit, from star wars ships hanging from the ceiling to whatever is this baby in a disco ball.

Most probably the best bar in Edinburgh. Wonderful staff, amazing decoration, excellent shots. And the ambiance is just perfect.

Staff are friendly and helpful, the atmosphere and energy is really positive and I enjoy going every tuesday.

Went there for the butter beer, it was delicious!! The decorations are incredible and the atmosphere was really cool! If you're a student, you can have discount on the cocktails (not on the butter beer) Highly recommend!

A very unusual, but friendly bar. On the other hand, I did not understand the ban on under 18s on a Sunday afternoon.

Great bar, Friedly staff. Excellent music choice gives it a great atmosphere. Excellent cocktails at reasonable prices, with discounts for students. Our first visit, while up visiting the surgeons museum. But would certainly go again.

Company deleted this review from Google reviews: eneral manager gave total abuse to our group, telling us to kill ourselves and that we are scum inbred subhumans after we challenged the bartender who refused to make the same cocktail again and told us to “pick a f*king new one” cause she didn’t like making it, also apparently the abuse was acceptable as they were “misgendered” by using the generic term “guys” 🤣 luckily have it all on video and multiple witnesses that left after we did to tell us outside that the staff were disgusting Wouldn’t bother going if you don’t want to be verbally abused by staff bcos they’ve been drinking more than they’re serving and clearly entitled people who speak to customers like sh*t and cry when someone questions it. Funny it’s always the people that preach mental health and “wokeness” that give the most abuse and tell people they should commit suicide bcos they don’t like people giving them the same energy back. Be better x

A really cool bar. Had a nice, friendly vibe and some awesome music on. Could do with some more alcohol free beer and we were gutted we missed the ferrets.

Prompt service and a great atmosphere with music played by a dj at the pickup, retro music you can't help but dance in such an environment!

The Dog Houses is a fab place/pub to hang out for queer folks in Edinburgh. Love the decoration and the vibe!

Cool bar but everyone I was with ordered food and the fries for everyone were soo salty. Probably will just stick to drinks next time.

Very quirky decor, darts board to play, pet friendly, happy vibe , nice drinks ... unfortunately food was closed on Christmas eve but that's alright.

This is a fantastic wee pub, the food was great once we got the qr code to work and well worth the wee bit of a wait to get it.

As someone who is trans, doghouse is the most inclusive and friendly place I’ve ever been. The staff are incredible and I actually feel safe here. You’re all amazing

Nice place and environment but the butter beer is just butterscotch and fosters and in my opinion very very bad. Should of got a Guinness. My fault.

My partner and I went here on our first date. 2022 and this is our local Bar. Its probably our fave place to visit and we come often. The staff are all very nice and chill and the atmosphere is cool, with a great mix of people. Every one is welcome whether it be a teenager or oap, I like the diversity of random folks, one big melting pot of people here. I brought my daughter here and she and her friends now visit also. We Like the music especially the dj. so if your straight, gay,bi, etc! give this bar a visit! everyone is treated with respect, the cocktails are good too! keep up the good work and friendly atmosphere :)

Went for a drink after dinner with some friends, quirky pub with very odd decorations. Lovely atmosphere and young and friendly people, there was DJ playing live music on Friday night. They also serve butterbeer!

The butter beer was just average, nothing more than just butter syrup in the beer. Nachos and Baked Potato was just awesome. The ambience is good but not very tidy/clean.

So the blue Haired lady decides who’s in or out based on random choice based on who knows what, no offence given, or any harm just not being severed based on a child’s experience. Let’s see after a afternoon mucking about how the recommendations go and thus business

A truly great place for a good catch up with friends and family. The staff are amazingly welcoming and friendly. There was 2 great guest DJ’s playing vinyl 45’s ska / reggae music. I’m hooked and I’ll be back again soon. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Loved this spot! The decor is eclectic but so well done - everywhere you look there’s something quirky and different! It was very busy on a Saturday night but staff were sound. Also ideal for student discounts (£5.60 for double g&t).

Amazing pub with crazy decor, cocktail selection was brilliant as my partner can attest. The Antojitos mexican food was amazing, the best I've had. No tacky tex-mex, proper mexican tacos and nachos.

Good vibes, good music, good food by Anjitos and spend hours every visit debating whether something was on the wall or ceiling days previous.

Super gemütliches Ambiente, tolle Musik, sehr sympathisches Personal und wunderschöne Einrichtung. Die vielen Gegenstände, die an der Decke hingen sind echte Hingucker. Es gibt viel zu sehen und jeder Platz wird kreativ und optisch toll genutzt. Hier gibt es das einzige Butterbier in der ganzen Umgebung. Anders, als in den Harry Potter Filmen, aber trotzdem sehr lecker 😋 Ein echter Geheimtipp!

The interior is a total work of art! Very stunning and unique decor. This pub is a staple of Edinburgh culture. Staff is kind. Drinks are a bit overpriced given their size (£8.5 per cocktail), and can be a bit too sweet. They do offer student deals and discounts, making them more affordable (£7). The space is very inclusive, especially to LGBTQ+ individuals ❤️.

Amazing all-vegan gluten-free food, incredibly dog-friendly, a great vibe and great people on both sides of the bar. Instant favourite!

Lovely bar mostly caters for students as they get discounts we are pensioners both worked all our lives but have to pay full price does have a good vibe about it and was not made to feel out o f place but a bit pricy for me recommend for younger people but unfortunately not for us

Interesting bar with loads of decor and did wonder if bar staff had to dress kitsch to go with it. Busy place with good music. The odd dog did come in. Was tempted by cocktails but didn't have time. Tried the food from antojitos and it was nice. Good flavours but drew the line at tofu asado. I like tofu. I like asado but really....the roasted pineapple tacos were the business though.

Came here solely for the butter beer. It’s delicious!! It’s not tooooo sweet. Taste like butterscotch beer. Exactly what I thought it would taste like!

Great bar with lots of weird decor. Staff were lovely with quick and efficient service, the new GM was excellent. Will be back. Went back to this bar yesterday 16th March and was very glad to see that nothing had changed, the bar staff namely Carrie and Myrtle were excellent, great service and attention. Keep up the good work.

Didn't let my friend who had a VALID ID in and kept making different excuses. Foul RACIST place which is overrated and expensive anyways. Prides itself on inclusion with the sign in the front doorway and does stuff like this. Could not hate this place enough.

Bouncer was extremely rude, not letting my friend in for no reason (who had completely valid ID) and then kept giving different excuses, eventually kicking all of us out. Absolute joke

I must say that this place was pretty cool, I mean the style of this place was something that I’ve never seen before. My expectations weren’t so high but the butterbeer was excellent.❤️‍🔥 My friends also tried some of the special shots and they were good as well. We visited this place immediately after the open so it wasn't full of people which was nice because we had opportunity to take a seat wherever we liked.😊

Lovely night with friends ruined by a bouncer who can't tell when an ID is valid and in date. Got dragged by the arm outside while he insisted that I had a fake ID/was underage and then when my friends tried to rightfully defend me he forced us all to leave. I was the only black person in my group so It's hard not to assume that that had any relation.

Went on a night out with a group of friends only for it to be completely ruined by the vile attitude of the bouncer. A friend who had a completely valid ID was turned away for first 'being too young' which changed to her having a 'fake id.' She was grabbed by the arm and dragged out the door in an extremely out of order manner. The sign outside reads that this is an inclusive pub (MY ARSE). She was clearly treated inhumanely and along with other reviews also mentioning the racism of this pub, this is a clear issue in this establishment.

Me and my friends have come here before and enjoyed it. However, on this occasion the bouncer was extremely rude, not letting one of us in (who had completely valid ID) with no good reason/kept changing his reason. Absolute joke. Am very unimpressed and wouldn’t recommend
