Love the decor and vibe of this pub, cool punk staff and the vegan fish and chips kitchen is fantastic!

Non-alcoholic Butterbeer definitely doesn’t taste like classic “Harry Potter” butterbeer. Very loud, no where to sit.

Pasamos por su caja de hamburguesas veganas Happy Fish. Excelente relación calidad-precio por £ 25 con más que suficiente para 2 personas. Haggis, pescado tofu, aros de cebolla, guisantes húmedos, salsa de curry, salsa tártara, patatas fritas picantes, alitas de coliflor, etc. No demasiado grasoso y muy sabroso y todo vegano! Están haciendo algunas cosas realmente interesantes con comida vegana “chip”. ¡No puedo esperar para ir de nuevo!

Loud music, plenty of tasty drinks

I massively love this place, It's an ideal place to pop in fer a few. Uncommercial with a lot of fun going on and actually friendly positive locals. Fun wee.cocktail lost as well. Keep it under your hat through don't want too many roasters invading it. Also do a fun vegan fish & chips thing (which full disclosure I'm not a massive fan of but it's better than I expected)

Was excited about this place because dogs and really enjoyed the interior in terms of decorations and ambiance. Was turned off by the girl behind the bar saying somewhat nasty things about a drink color - and my drink was the one currently being made (by someone else) and I asked for it in a different glass so pretty sure she was talking about mine but the unprofessionalism really turned me off so we finished our drinks and got out of there.

The service was quick without compromising on quality.

Wee popping in this funky bar with a friend before to see a show at Queen’s Hall nearby. Really interesting place and funky and awesome decor, good vibes and friendly staff. They do serve food but we went there for a drink.

I enjoyed a meal and drink with my son in law at this fabulous and atmospheric venue. The Friendly Fish food was simply delicious and filling and the cook and waitress super friendly.

Popped in for a few drinks on a Tuesday and enjoyed some excellent musicians jamming. Almost got charged £47 for a single vodka lime and soda until I pointed it out 😬

Used to be a cool place and drinks used to be a decent price. Just got charged £20 for 3 pints. Nah.

So happy they started serving food here! Made my favorite place even better.

La única desventaja de mi visita es que solo iba a parar 1 noche. El personal era muy amable desde mi cerveza de bienvenida hasta el check out y asegurarse de que tenía algunos trozos que había olvidado. La habitación era magnífica, cocina americana bien equipada, mini bar fantástico y mi propia nevera de cerveza ducha. La próxima vez que esté en Edimburgo definitivamente volveré a parar. Aunque Carlsberg no hace hoteles, no importa como el perro Brew. Gracias Simon.

Real cool space with a welcoming atmosphere. Food is very good and nice music. Service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend!

The pub itself was fun and the food was nice, but when we went there we mistakenly left a bag with some things we had bought on that day. When we came back to collect it they informed us that a member of the staff had taken it home and not even 24h had passed. So be careful of your belongings if you’re going, there might be some thieves among them.

Great food, great service with a smile and honest opinion. (It's vegan which is even better) Very filling and hefty portions. Recommended for anyone in the area. Desserts are a must ⭐

Spectacular pub. Great decor and vibe

I recently spent 2 nights (11th & 12th October) and it was 1 of the best overall hotel experiences ever. The accomodation, food and staff were absolutely first class and went above and beyond in my opinion. It was with my son and daughter to celebrate my 70th birthday and the hotel even gave me a gift. I would totally recommend it and will definitely stay on any future trip to Edinburgh.

It's not the same as it used to be but the nacho towers, beer selection and jukebox are still decent.

All the way from the Paisley, West coast where the Weegies dwell , had been to a wonderful concert ( The Go! Team by the way check them out;) .. Drinks are reasonably priced, not tourist trap prices . Asked for help with procuring a taxi... Request met ! Not sure I got into that taxi? But got me where I had to go.. excellent bar . If I can find it I will definitely go again. 5 rainbow 🌈 series elephant acoustic fuelled mousses.

If you doubt the best bar I visited in Edinburgh. The place is beautiful, very cool. The music is great and the people who serve are very friendly. I highly recommend stopping by for a whiskey or beer here if you visit Edinburgh.

Amazing vegan food in an eclectic pub. We had the Battered jumbo faggis sausage supper with macho peas + lemon fole supper + fonkfish supper, all for £30ish. Some of the best vegan food we've ever had👍

Lovely boozer and very welcoming to all. My wife and I came for the vegan fish and chips, stayed for the vibes (and friendly dog). Not the best selection of beers in truth but some decent Beaverton and inches ciders etc.

Dando a este bar 5 estrellas debido a la vibra, el carácter y el personal amable y servicial durante el fleco. Un día me sentí un poco áspera y estaba luchando así que pensé en pedir algo de comida. Cuando mencioné esto, el chef salió y dijo que había añadido algunas patatas fritas gratis! La comida está separada del bar, llamado 'The Happy Fish's y ofrece aperitivos de bar baratos y comidas pequeñas. Era justo lo que quería de este tipo de bar. Había una falta de elección de cervezas, pero el barman fue tan amable de dejarme probar un par de otras bebidas hasta que encontré una que me gustó. Regresé al día siguiente como resultado de esto y disfruté de su mezcla de música indie / rocky vibra. Muchas gracias, este lugar es genial. Volveré 👌 Los baños están abajo, por cierto. Es divertido ver a la gente tratando de encontrarlo todo el tiempo 😋

Live music and good atmosphere.

Maybe it was off time. Place is different and cool but the bartender seemed so uninterested in her work as bartender and sat out of the bar on her phone not interacting with her 3 guests.

Amazing pub. The decor is very unique and definitely worth checking out. Music was also cool. As you may have guessed this pub is very dog friendly! Only had a few pints but they tasted very clean unlike some places.

Don't think I've ever experienced bar staff who serve you without talking at all, just staring and scowling. Must be quite challenging to keep it up. Terrible service, expensive beer, annoying clientele. The pint was ok which brought it up to a 2 star.

Lovely staff and lovely atmosphere! Went a few days ago for a wee drink on my own and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I love this place so much! Bartender was really friendly, drinks were nice - I tried the lavender menace cocktail which was amazing. As a drag fan, I went with some friends on their monthly drag bingo night and it was great fun - Krystal and Violet are hugely entertaining hosts and great performers, it was a great shout for the pub to get them!

Great pub , with great staff. The menu is pretty varied and the prices aren't too bad. But by far the best reason to visit is the interior which is so unique and you will keep seeing something different during your visit, from star wars ships hanging from the ceiling to whatever is this baby in a disco ball.

Went there for the butter beer, it was delicious!! The decorations are incredible and the atmosphere was really cool! If you're a student, you can have discount on the cocktails (not on the butter beer) Highly recommend!

Great bar, Friedly staff. Excellent music choice gives it a great atmosphere. Excellent cocktails at reasonable prices, with discounts for students. Our first visit, while up visiting the surgeons museum. But would certainly go again.

Prompt service and a great atmosphere with music played by a dj at the pickup, retro music you can't help but dance in such an environment!

The Dog Houses is a fab place/pub to hang out for queer folks in Edinburgh. Love the decoration and the vibe!

This is a fantastic wee pub, the food was great once we got the qr code to work and well worth the wee bit of a wait to get it.

Nice place and environment but the butter beer is just butterscotch and fosters and in my opinion very very bad. Should of got a Guinness. My fault.

Went for a drink after dinner with some friends, quirky pub with very odd decorations. Lovely atmosphere and young and friendly people, there was DJ playing live music on Friday night. They also serve butterbeer!

The butter beer was just average, nothing more than just butter syrup in the beer. Nachos and Baked Potato was just awesome. The ambience is good but not very tidy/clean.

So the blue Haired lady decides who’s in or out based on random choice based on who knows what, no offence given, or any harm just not being severed based on a child’s experience. Let’s see after a afternoon mucking about how the recommendations go and thus business

A truly great place for a good catch up with friends and family. The staff are amazingly welcoming and friendly. There was 2 great guest DJ’s playing vinyl 45’s ska / reggae music. I’m hooked and I’ll be back again soon. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
