We’ve come here a few times and have always been impressed by the quality and value. Delicious food, good portions, served quickly. Today, our son (5) accidentally dropped his ciabatta on the floor while he was eating it and they brought him a new one, without our even asking. Superb customer service.

Delicious take-away afternoon tea! We ordered a mix of a full afternoon tea plus a children’s version and everything we ate was yummy. It’s a beautifully set little hidden cafe in the middle of the town however we were very disappointed with the food today.. the tea at least is loose leaf which is a nice treat however the scone was served with such a tiny teaspoon worth of cream and a plastic packet of jam which was a real shame.. such small things make a big difference. My other half had a chicken & bacon sandwich which wasn’t slices of meat but a sandwich filling type mix and this came served with 5 Pringles laid out in a line.. we were baffled by this and quite disappointed by the standard of food for the price. The next table were complaining about their wait for some soup and a sandwich on their order and it wasn’t busy. Sorry but they really need to improve their game. I feel 3 stars is a generous review

Popped in on a rainy Saturday morning in November because our usual cafe was full (Just So Italian - FAB!!). Seats indoors weren't available, but there was a small enclosed courtyard which was nearly empty so we sat there. Cute little place and, as it advertised itself as a cafe, we expected some decent coffee. Unfortunately it was probably the worst latte I've ever had. Way too strong, incredibly bitter and very overpriced (£3.70 for the 'tall' which would be a Costa regular size). I had to go back in to the store and ask for a large jug of milk - needed it to make the latte in any way consumable! Two teenage girls took orders (at a counter); not a smile in sight. Choice was also poor - no option to have a decaf or skinny - they could only produce decaf for a cafetiere apparently?! In this day and age, there's really no excuse for an outlet selling itself as a 'cafe' to not offer more than the standard fayre... My sister had an amaretto latte - even with all the syrup in it she couldn't drink it.We didn't eat at the cafe although there appeared to be a fairly extensive brunch-type menu. Did spot some folk eating there - portions looks on the small side...We won't be going back - if our usual spot's busy again, we'll head somewhere else.

I do not like doing bad reviews and usually comment more on the good places we visit so it took me a while to decide to write this but if comments are taken on board and it helps then all the better. As a couple we have been searching out coffee shops ( doing stopsober ) we have stumbled upon quite a few, this one had a sign outside ( I had not trip advisered it first) we realised they were busy as they had no room inside , the covered courtyard was nice, with blankets out for a chilly day. They had ran out of baguettes not a good sign for us perhaps, tea and coffee arrived prompt, after 30 minutes wait I was just about to ask where our sandwiches were when the waitress came and said it would not be long, couple after us then complained about the wait, they were then offered more free tea and coffee they declined and said they just wanted their food , nothing was said to us , 40 mins later just as ours came out the other couple were then told their meal would be free, I did not say anything to the waitress even though we had waited a long time too but thought this was very poor service I had beef and horseradish sauce , very disappointed, the bread was shop bought sliced and the beef was thin and dry.very thin and dry, my husband had bacon and chicken same bread but looked a more filled out sandwich , the couple after us walked out as the wait was too much , we decide against looking at the cake as we felt let down by the service and no one came out to ask if everything was okay or did we want anything, when we paid no comment was made about our wait. There are a lot of coffee shops and you need to be good to survive. More care and attention to customers would go a long way.

A nice place to pop in for a bite and a good cuppa made with loose tea. Set back behind the Church Street shops, it is easy to miss.

I went there today with my partner. It's somewhat hidden down an alley but it has a beautiful courtyard which I imagine would be lovely in the summer. I had the soup of the day (pea soup) and my partner had the pastrami bagel. The soup was lovely but the bread was a bit soggy. The pastrami bagel, I was told, was lovely although there was a hair in the salad. It's reasonably priced but it's just a nice café, nothing special. I'd go again.

We only had the coffee, which was ok but not sure if I would go there for the food as a consequence. My friend ordered a Flat White & it would have been better to ask what that was then to just serve a latte. For the record a flat white is water run through the beans all the way to the top with a dash of milk. A smile on arrival would have been nice too!

I visited this wee cafe with my other half and daughter. I found it by pure luck as its up a tiny alleyway. I had a nice rooibos tea and a ham sandwich, nothing special in that I hear you cry! True dear reader very true, but when you can just sit quietly talking over a delicious tea with your partner and with very pretty and polite serving staff waiting on you, then this is what makes this little gem of a cafe soooo special....5 stars from me and I hope this wee place prospers

We popped into Aldwinkles on good Friday after walking past a lot and saying "we need to try there". We did and we will again. Lovely selection of cakes and coffees as well as hot food. Try the carrot cake and you won't be dissapointed. Well worth finding as it is up a walkway between two shops

I went here with a friend to grab a quick bite to eat in between moving house. I had the Eggs Benedict which was cooked to perfection and very well presented. The staff are friendly and cheery, and the price was incredibly reasonable. I will be visiting here again.

Bit surprised by the comments of Martin H. I visit this quaint little Coffe Shop most weeks and have always found the regular staff most pleasant and easy going. The Coffeee is good too.

We went in last week and the woman behind the counter was so rude we left before ordering. Lets put this into context - it was after the lunch time rush and the cafe was at about one quarter of its capacity. I have no idea why she acted like this. When entering we could see that she making a couple of coffees so we waited by the counter to make our order. We stood there for what felt like ages while she ignored us. Feeling like a bit of a lemon and not knowing if it was table service or not, we politely tried to gain her attention by saying "Excuse me". Another minute of ignorance followed, until aggressively blurted out "can't you see that i'm busy". Then we left.I don't expect anyone treat me like royalty because i'm going to have the soup of the day and a latte in their cafe, but please acknowledge me as a human being. If you're busy, just say so and ask me to take a seat. This will make me feel like I am welcome in your establishment.

I shared a quiet couple of hours here to catch up with a friend. The location is lovely, the service excellent & very friendly & helpful. We had tea/coffee then later had lunch. At no time did we feel rushed. I had a delicious tuna salad, my friend had a fabulous looking jacket potato with chilli. There were a selection of homemade cakes that looked tasty - we were being good though. There is limited space here, but if you can find a table it's highly recommended.

Returned several times now, easily ticks all the boxes.Always friendly and helpful staff, even when all the tables are full it's still a quiet peaceful place. Food and coffee is spot every time, far better than the major coffee places in the area. Good work!
